NATSU'S POV

"You can leave the impossible ones on my desk on the second floor when you're done," Mrs McGarden said before leaving the office.

I turned back to my system and typed away.

Today was going smoothly. Everyone was working on the tasks they had to do, Lisanna has been glued to Mrs McGarden's office so she can't disturb me at all, Loki is stuck beside Mrs Scarlet because Ms Heartfilia hasn't come in today so he and his silly shenanigans haven't made me angry today.

I was all caught up on my work and didn't have Mrs Scarlet decorating my desk with other colleagues' stuff, which allowed me to take little breaks here and there.

It was just 10 minutes away from lunch period and I'm almost counting this as one of my favourite days this year.

I'm most definitely going to take my after-hours very seriously from now on. I feel like I haven't felt true peace until now, there is honestly NOTHING that can ruin this for me.

Nothing!

I leaned back in my chair, kicked my feet up on my desk and threw my hands behind my head.

THIS is what I call bliss, what a life, so a bit of rest was what was missing throughout these years? How could I have been so blind?

Just as I was getting cosy in my chair, I felt my ear twitch from the sound of the elevator bell and that dreadful noise followed suit, almost instinctively,

"LUCCCCYYYYYYYY!!!! OUR GODDESS!?" My colleagues roared as they filled the hallway and rushed towards the elevator like a bunch of bulls that have just seen the colour red.

I shook my head, followed by a low sigh, "Just when things were getting good,"

Before they had got to her, once she exited the elevator, she turned her head towards the Office I was in and waved at me with this gleeful expression on her face.

It would've been better if she didn't come in at all. Half a day of silence and peace in this office is all I've ever wished for. I looked at my computer and saw that it was 5 minutes away from lunch so I locked my system, stood up from my seat and grabbed my bag.

I'll talk to Ms Heartfilia later when these idiots aren't around. I walked out of the office and saw that they were literally all surrounding her and bombarding her with questions.

This was bad for me because they were blocking the exit to the elevator. I looked down the hallway that led to the meeting room and break room, further down the hallway were more emergency exits.

"I'm not a man for breaking the rules, but, to avoid this crowd, I'll break it," I thought as I made my way down the hallway and slipped through one of the emergency exit doors that led to a stairwell.

These fools aren't going to ruin my good mood.

As I was getting closer to the last floor, heard a familiar voice call out to me. "Natsu!"

I looked down at the bottom of the stairwell and saw Lisanna quietly closing the emergency door on the second floor from the bottom, behind her with this wide grin on her face.

"Isn't this a surprise, aren't you supposed to be working extra hard right now?" She said tauntingly.

"Aren't you supposed to be locked in Mrs McGarden's office, chained to the desk leg like a puppy on crack?"

"Gajeel video called with the baby so she got distracted by that. I had to come through this exit because she'll see me running to the elevator," Lisanna laughed, "So where are you off to?"

"I'm taking a break,"

"OMG! The pink-haired, work-obsessed man is taking a... what is this... a lunch break?!" Lisanna said mockingly as she danced around me, "Be careful, Natsu! A break is like lava! You might hurt yourself,"

I rolled my eyes with a small smirk on my face.

I pushed the bar on the emergency door, just then, Lisanna slid by me and leaned back on the emergency door.

She raised a brow at me with this smug look that she always does.

"Sooo, when are you going to tell me about what happened yesterday?" Lisanna asked as she wiggled her eyebrows at me.

I raised a brow, "What do you mean?"

"You know..." She trailed off as she glanced up at the stairs above us, "With Lucy yesterday...?"

She nudged me in the ribs, "Did you guys do it in the meeting room?"

I squinted at her with an annoyed expression.

What the hell?? What kind of crazy assumption is that?!

I pulled her left cheek, "What kind of crazy fantasy has you asking such a thing?"

"Ow! Owww! No! It's because you left during the pizza party and Ms Heartfilia left a minute later! What else would you two be doing alone in the meeting room?" She asked with a slight tear in the corner of her eye.

"Working! Like colleagues do!"

She looked off elsewhere, "Come on now, we both know that's not true-."

"Liz!" I pulled her cheek a little harder.

I walked out from the alleyway that the emergency door opens up to and walked up to the bus stop that was at the end of the alleyway's exit.

Lisanna rubbed her cheek as she followed beside me, "So you really didn't do ANYTHING with Lucy?"

"Well, she did kiss me on the lips-."

"So something DID happen?!" Lisannna jumped up and down like some sort of bunny, "Did it turn into something more?!"

"Heck no."

"You already know me, Liz. I can't do it with just anyone," I gently smiled, "I have to love that person to want to do it with them,"

"Well duh!" Lisanna yawned as she stretched her arms and brought her hands behind her head, "But that's just a lie that you men tell yourselves. If the girl is attractive, you would throw yourself at that woman if she ever gave you the chance,"

"I'm not like other men,"

"But it's not like it hasn't ever crossed your mind, right?" Lisanna said as she did a thinking gesture, "After all, Lucy isn't so bad, she's incredibly gorgeous, cute, and has a motherly personality with the way she looks out for you guys here,"

"Still, it bugs me that she went out of her way to do work with you in the meeting room, from what I've learned, isn't she normally attached to Loki. Why would she skip out on such fun to hang out with a loser like you?" Lisanna said to herself.

"You're putting too much thought into this,"

"Yeah, you're right. There's no way Lucy will ever have feelings for a cold person like you, no wonder you've never thrown yourself at me," Lisanna grinned.

"Because you aren't attractive to me,"

"Ouch. That hurts," Lisanna looked down defeated.

I chuckled and rubbed the top of her head, "I'm kidding. But you're a sister to me, nothing more or less,"

I held a fist up to her and she did the same.

"Right back at ya', brother!" She smiled as we bumped fists, "So, where are we heading now?"

We stopped at the bus stop.

"To the gym,"

"Seriously Natsu? Your break is working out more?" Lisanna asked with disappointment.

"Yep! I'm feeling really energised now, what other way than to spend 45 minutes at the gym,"

"This is something, I can't remember the last time you were this lively," Lisanna said as she poked me in the cheek, "Lucy must've given you something REALLY, REALLYYYY good to make you like this,"

"We just talked, Liz, I promise you nothing happened because if it did, I would've told you by now,"

"Mmmm," Lisanna pouted with a hint of disappointment.

Why is she so hung up on wanting something to happen between us? I already promised myself NOT to get involved with that kind of office drama.

"Let's just get to the gym,"

"Hmm," Lisanna hummed, "I'll come with you then!"

"Not like you had a choice anyways, you follow me wherever I go,"

"Getting cocky, are we?" Lisanna grinned as she lightly punched me in the arm.

"Well, without me in your life, you are the loneliest person I've ever met-. OOF!"

She punched me in the stomach with no hesitation and looked down on me as I crouched down to my knees.

"Oh my god!" I heard a woman say behind us.

"Wanna say that again?" Lisanna raised a brow at me with her fist raised.

"O-Okay," I held my stomach in pain, "I deserved that,"

3RD PERSON POV. - 10 minutes later...

"Thank you, and you too," Lucy waved to the last remaining colleague as she entered Office 1C and closed the office door shut behind her.

She let out a heavy sigh as she leaned on the door, "That was intense,"

"Morning, Natsu~!" She smiled sheepishly as she opened up her eyes and found the office empty, her smile fell as she was expecting the pinkette to be here working his butt off.

But she didn't let it bother her.

"He must have left when I was bombarded by everyone else," Lucy chuckled as she set her hand bag on the desk.

She didn't notice Loki sneaking up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up,

"I MISSED YA', LUCY!!!!" Loki roared. The blonde let out a loud squeal as Loki laughed.

He put her down gently, the blonde immediately turned around and punched Loki in the arm.

"Don't ever do that again! You scared me!" Lucy pouted at the redhead who gently laughed at her expression.

He quickly stuffed his left hand in his pocket, "I'm sorry Lucy, I just really missed ya'. You didn't come in on time like you always do so I got a little worried,".

Lucy raised a brow at his foolish look, "Are you saying you can't operate well without me?"

"Will you believe me if I say yes...?" Loki leaned forward towards her face but Lucy remained still and was not impressed by Loki's antics.

"I find that hard to believe," Lucy responded.

"Hey, I'm just telling you the truth," Loki shrugged his shoulders.

"Say, Loki?" She called out as she made her way over to Natsu's seat and sat down in it.

"What's up?" Loki responded immediately as he sat opposite her and kicked his feet up on the desk.

"I couldn't help but notice that you and Natsu have a... weird relationship," She said as she crossed her legs.

Loki looked down at her legs then back up at her with a grin on his face, "Weird relationship? What makes you say that-."

"I see how you guys interact with each other, it's a little uncomfortable," Lucy folded her arms and almost began to glare at the redhead.

Loki was confused at this, his eyelids flew open at how serious Lucy was right now, "Hehe, that's just the dynamic Natsu and I share,"

"It's a weird one. Think of me as your reliable shoulder, a person you can tell anything and everything. I want to know why you and Natsu are so cold to each other? I've seen a lot of male relationships and they haven't nearly had as much animosity in them as you and Natsu's have, so what is going on?" Lucy asked politely.
