Sneaking Out Part 3

Hanna rolled over and could tell it was morning. The sun was shining brightly through her window. She must have forgotten to close her curtain last night before going to sleep. She was about to lift her hand out to close it with her magic, but something felt a little off. She opened her eyes and found that cuff on her wrist. She quickly sat up and found that her bedroom door was slightly cracked open.

"Ugh!" Hanna threw herself back onto her bed and pulled at the stupid magic blocking thing. How did her parents get in here? How did they get that cuff on her? It was probably Regina or Emma. One of them had to have removed the spell from the door. Hanna pulled and pulled at the cuff, purely out of frustration. She knew the wearer couldn't take it off. Hanna slammed her hands down on her bed and got up to go downstairs. She flung open her door and jumped when she found her parents standing on the other side.

"We thought we heard you stirring up here," Snow said. "May we come in?"

Hanna took a deep breath. She wanted to just slam the door in their faces, but she knew that would get her nowhere. "Yes." Hanna turned around and walked back towards her bed. She sat down and looked up at her parents. She held onto her wrist with the cuff. She really didn't like how it made her feel.

"Okay, what is going on with you?" David asked. "This isn't like you, Hanna. Sneaking out, throwing parties…"

"Putting spells on your door too keep us out," Snow added.

"A spell that shocked my hand last night." David sat on the bed next to Hanna and held out his hand to her.

Hanna bit her lip and looked up at her dad, but didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say. She felt bad for hurting him, but she also really didn't want him to put that cuff on her. She pulled at the thing again. She swore it was making her feel light headed.

"I'll ask again," David continued, "what is going on with you lately?"

Hanna sighed. "I don't know…"

Snow sat down on the other side of Hanna. "That's not an answer. Why did you throw all those parties? We would have let you have a party at the beach with your friends if you just asked."

"It wasn't about the parties, really," Hanna shrugged. "At least not at first. I just wanted to test out a few spells I read about in one of Regina's books. I could do them pretty easily and we didn't get caught, so I just kept going. Everyone loved the parties and they made the kids at school like Henry and me more. Turns out we're really good party planners." Hanna grinned up at her parents, but it quickly faded when she could see that they weren't amused. She felt queasy all of a sudden. She looked down and fiddled with the cuff some more. She wasn't sure if it was that or the obvious tension that was in the room.

"Well, you know your stint as a secret party is over, right?"

Hanna looked up at her dad and nodded. "I promise I won't do that anymore, but…" Hanna sighed. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes and she gripped the cuff even tighter. She needed this thing off of her. "Can you please take this off of me?"

David shook his head. "Hanna…"

"Daddy, please! I don't feel right with it on."

David could see the tears forming in Hanna's eyes. He looked over at his wife.

Snow could see the worry on his face and looked to her daughter.

Hanna watched her dad look to her mom. She turned and looked up at her too. "Mom, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I lied to you and used spells I wasn't suppose to. I'm sorry I threw the parties. I won't do it ever again, but you have to take this off of me."

"Is it really making you feel badly, Hanna?"

Hanna nodded. "I feel like I'm going to be sick. My head and stomach feel…I don't know how to describe it. Just not okay."

Snow scanned Hanna's face for any sign of a lie. She could see the tears falling down her cheek and her complexion did look slightly pale. Snow reached out and wiped Hanna's tears away, then looked up at her husband.

"Hanna, we're going to take it off," David said.

"But we expect you to keep your word. No more of this," Snow told her.

"No sneaking off, lying, or casting spells you shouldn't be," David added.

"I won't do any of it again," Hanna meant it. The parties were fun, but they also made her feel completely on edge. She was always so afraid of getting caught. It wasn't worth it, plus Regina or Emma would just help them put the cuff back on if she didn't live up to her end of the deal. "Please just get it off of me," Hanna lifted up her hand and let out a sigh of relief when her dad took it off.

Snow could see the color instantly come back to her daughter's face. "Are you feeling better now?"

"Much."

"You know you're still grounded, right?" David asked.

"Yes," Hanna sighed. "Are you really going to ground me for five weeks, though?"

"We'll start off with five," Snow said. "But maybe we'll knock some time off for good behavior."

"Fine…can you at least feed me some breakfast?"

"Of course we can," David stood from the bed reached out his hand. "What does the inmate want?"

Hanna rolled her eyes, but stood and took her dad's hand. "Pancakes. With chocolate chips. Oh and bacon. Do we have hot chocolate?" Now that the cuff was off Hanna was feeling so much and realized she was starving.
