The Warriors: Small Soldiers

Chapter 4

As Globotech Industries was busy preparing its toys for the Gorgonites and the Commando Elites we turned our attention to a boy named Alan who works at a toy store

A machine was shown making the action figures of the Gorgonites and the Commando Elites while a boy was riding his bicycle in town and arrived at a toy store

This looks like a nice store. Look at those toys. the old woman said

Come on, Grandma. This place never has anything good. the boy said

The bicycle boy got off his bike entered the store and read a comic book as a truck that said Heartland Systems came in the bicycle boy went outside and saw an old man was about to take out some boxes

Joe. the bicycle boy said

Hey Alan. Joe said

I got the thing for ya. Alan said

Good. How's the world treating ya? Joe said

You, Joe, are the highlight of my day. Alan said

Jeez, tough break, kid. Joe said

Alan then looked at the truck Joe was driving just now

New truck? Alan said

New owner. See? Joe said

Joe showed Alan the Heartland Systems logo on the back of his uniform

Wow. Alan said

Yeah. Soon everything will be owned by one giant corporation. Joe said

And then? Alan said

Then, it's goodbye microbreweries. Joe said

Again. Wow. Alan said

So, where's your dad? I got his order. Joe said

He's going out of town tonight for a seminar. Alan said

Wait a second. Did he leave you in charge? Joe said

I was as surprised as you. I think he's starting to trust me again. Alan said

Really? Joe said

Yeah. Or maybe he didn't have a choice. Alan said

So what's the seminar your dad's going to? Joe said

"How to make a success of your small business." Alan said

Interesting. Joe said

Yeah well, i suggested blowing the place. Alan said

Not a good idea. Arson forensics nowadays is very sophisticated. Joe said

You don't say? Alan said

I do say. Joe said

Alan then looked at the words on the boxes that Gorgonites and Commando Elites

Alan? Joe said

Yeah? Alan said

Is something wrong? Joe said

I have a question. Alan said

A question? Joe said

Yeah. Alan said

What is it? Joe said

"Gorgonites and Commando Elite." What are those? Alan said

Let's find out. Joe said

Alan and Joe opened the box and it was the Commando Elites the first was Chip Hazard

Ten-hut! Joe said

The Chip Hazard action figure's belt shined bright green did a salute with his hand and said the following

Major Chip Hazard, reporting for duty, sir! Chip said

Alan Abernathy: Wow. Voice-activated. Not bad. Alan said

They move, they talk. They have a built-in, two-way radio. Joe said

What does the back of the package say? Alan said

"Buy a second commando and communicate with a friend." Joe said

Alan then took out a Gorgonite figure and tried to talk to it

Halt! Who goes there? Alan said

The light from the Gorgonite's belt also shined bright green and said the following

Greetings. I am Archer, emissary of the Gorgonites. Archer said

Awfully polite for a monster. Alan said

You never have to replace the battery. Joe said

That's a good thing. Hey, Joe. Do you think you could front me a set of these?

What? You want a set of these toys? Joe said

Yeah. Alan said

Really? Joe said

Yeah just sort of lend them to me. You got plenty in the truck. Alan said

Yeah. That's Toy World's inventory for the month. This order's paid for. Joe said

It Is? Alan said

Yeah. I don't wanna get my ticket pulled. Joe said

I'll pay you back after i sell them. Alan said

What about your dad's policy, no war toys? Joe said

Don't worry about my dad. Alan said

Why say that? Joe said

By the time he gets back, they'll be sold. And this place will make some money for once. Alan said

I don't know. Joe said

What you're saying is that never in your career has anything just fallen off the back of the truck? Alan said

I don't like your tone. Joe said

Sorry. Alan said

It's too loud. Joe said

I can handle it. Trust me. Alan said

Joe thought for a moment until he decided

Okay, one whole set. I'll lose the paperwork someplace. Joe said

Yes. Alan said

I had better not regret this. Joe said

You won't. I swear. Alan said

And you've got to get them off the truck. I could get in trouble for this. Joe said

No one will know. Alan said

They better not. These toys don't go on sale officially until Monday. I could lose my job. I could lose my house. Joe said

It won't be that bad. Alan said

No. It'll be worse. Much worse. Joe said

Thanks. Alan said

Now let's go. I got some more stuff for the toy store. Joe said

Okay. Alan said

After Alan and Joe left the storage room Archer and Chip looked at each other as if they had come to life

Archer. Chip said

Chip Hazard. Archer said

Let the war begin. Chip said

Yes. Let it begin. Archer said

A few minutes later

Joe was outside with Alan giving him some cardboard standees of the action figures

Thanks, Joe. I owe you one. Alan said

You owe me twelve. Good luck, kid. Joe said

Yeah. Alan said

Oh, one more thing Alan. Joe said

What is it? Alan said

I got a package for you. Joe said

A package? Alan said

Yeah. Joe said

Joe opened the back door of his truck and gave Alan a package

Here. Joe said

For me? Alan said

Yeah. For you. Joe said

I didn't buy a package. Alan said

It's from me. Joe said

Really? Alan said

Of course. Joe said

From you? Alan said

Yeah. Joe said

Really? Alan said

Okay, you got me. It was from someone really weird. Joe said

How weird? Alan said

Really weird. Joe said

Oh. Alan said

She told me to give this package to you. Joe said

To me? Why? Alan said

I told you. It's someone really weird. Joe said

Okay. Alan said

Alan then looked at the package and it had the word The Warriors on it

"The Warriors"? Alan said

Yeah. The Warriors. Joe said

Are these action figures? Alan said

Yeah. Joe said

Old or new? Alan said

Why don't you go open it and find out? Joe said

I'll do it later. Alan said

Sure you will. Joe said

Seriously. I will. Alan said

If you say so. Joe said

Anyway thanks, Joe. I'll see you later. Joe said

See ya, Alan. Joe said

A few more minutes later

Alan was in the storage room moving some boxes and then left and after he left Archer and Chip came to life again and faced off

Freeze. Chip said

I will not. Archer said

I'm sure you will. Chip said

No. I won't. Archer said

Alan was moving the boxes in the toy store and saw a girl with a little boy outside he tried to look good as the girl and the little boy entered the toy store

But I wanted to go to Toy World. Timmy said

Life is full of disappointments. Go look around. Christy said

Okay. Timmy said

Be quick. Christy said

Timmy then looked around the store while Christy approached Alan

Great. Alan said
