Episode 259: Fallarbor Town Contest
On the very next day, the Fallarbor Town Pokemon Contest has officially begun as Vivian has taken her position as Sora, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel have taken their seats, witnessing the Contest taking place. The Contest has progressed, coming up to Drew's turn. Mr. Contesta, Mr. Suziko, and Athena have retaken their spots as judges.
"The Fallarbor Town Pokemon Contest has finally begun! And so far, we've seen some great things from our first round contestants!" Vivian announced.
Drew is on the stage and he flips his hair.
"Go, Roselia! Petal Dance!" Drew ordered. Roselia unleashed flower petals from his flower petals, earning Drew 9.9, 9.8, and 9.9 from the judges, adding it up to 29.6 on the score board. It was now Grace's turn.
"High Jump Kick, Medicham!" Grace ordered. Medicham does some poses at first and sends her knees forward, earning Grace a 29.5 from the judges. It was now Chaz's turn.
"Machoke! Use Brick Break!" Chaz ordered. Machoke came at several logs and gave them all a single chop, cutting them in half, earning Chaz a 26.3. It was now Kairi's turn.
"Beautifly! Silver Wind!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly spins around uses Silver Wind, creating a silver tornado. Kairi earns a 25.9 from the judges.
"Yes, she scored above 25!" Brendan said.
"That's how you do it, Kairi!" Sora cheered for his girlfriend.
"Pika!" Pikachu cheered.
"Eevee!" Angel also cheered.
Elsewhere, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, and Marill are watching from the TV in a Pokemon Center in a different town, knowing Kairi would take part of it. They were rooting for their friend. The crowd cheered. Ash and Leaf were also watching from the TV of a diner in a different town. In different parts of Hoenn, the DigiDestined and the Tamers were watching it from the Pokémon Center. Takuya, Koji, Koichi, JP, Zoe, Tommy, Mime Jr, and Munchlax were watching from a local park on a screen on a building.
Meanwhile, over to Wes and Rui, they were outside of Fallarbor Town, just so they wouldn't attract attention. Rui sighed to herself. Wes looked right at her.
"What's bothering you, Rui? You've been quiet for a while now," Wes said.
"I've been thinking, Wes," Rui said.
"Yeah? About what?" Rui asked.
"About everything we've been through since we met. About the Shadow Pokémon, Team Shadow, Team Snatch, the Heartless, the Organization, and basically everything else that's been happening since we ended up in the realm of darkness five years ago after we ended Team Shadow's attempt in taking over the world. I was wondering about my grandparents and how worried they must have been since then. I can't help but wonder if they'll even recognize me afterwards," Rui said.
"I think I understand what you mean, Rui. As you know, I was a member of Team Snatch until I left and stole their Snag Machine just so they won't use it. My plan was just to destroy it, but when the Shadow Pokémon started to show up, we both knew I had to use it after all when I snagged that Shadow Makuhita from Miror B's lackey. You were the only one who could see the darkness in their hearts erupting from their bodies. The same kind of darkness that can turn people into a Heartless," Wes said. He sighed deeply. "I can't help but blame myself for putting you in harm's way when Axel attacked us."
"Don't blame yourself, Wes. I told you before that you're my gallant prince who came for me when I was in trouble. And that image of you will never change despite your dark past. And that's the image that made me fall in love with you," Rui said. Wes just blushed as he remembered how they met.
(Flashback)
It was five years ago.
He arrived in Phenac City, and it is a small city abounded with water. He spotted two men wearing sunglasses. One is has a blue pair and the other has a red pair.
"Hey, what are you doing? Get a grip, man!" The man with the blue sunglasses said.
"Yeah, you say that, but this..." The man with the red sunglasses paused. "It won't stop squirming! Makes it tough to hold on!" He looked at the sack. "Okay, okay. Settle down in there. Just be quiet a little longer!"
A voice suddenly erupted from inside the sack, catching Wes's attention.
"Mgflpmmmmgg... Beh! Help! Someone let me out! Kidnappers!" A girl's voice screamed. This grabs Wes's attention.
"Tch! That tape didn't keep her trap shut!" The man wearing the red sunglasses exclaimed. "Hey, quit shouting!" The man wearing the blue sunglasses spotted Wes in the same area as them.
"Oh, crap! Did that punk just hear all that?!" The man wearing the blue sunglasses exclaimed.
"Yeah, I heard everything you two geeks said and it doesn't take a genius to figure out what you're up to," Wes said. The two men walked up to him.
"Since you you overheard us, we don't have any choice. Blame it on your bad luck," the man with the blue sunglasses said.
"And you would be?" Wes asked.
"The name's Trudy," the man wearing the red sunglasses said.
"And I'm Folly. Now, I challenge you to a Pokemon battle!" Folly said, taking out two of his Pokéballs and threw them. "I choose you, Whismur!" His Pokéballs opened up and two Whismur emerged from inside. Wes took out his own Pokéballs and threw them.
"Espeon, Umbreon! Go!" Wes called out. Espeon and Umbreon both emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Whismur! Use Uproar!" Folly ordered. The two Whismur unleashed a series of sounds, going wild and heads right towards the both of them.
"Umbreon! Use Snarl! Espeon! Use Confusion!" Wes ordered.
Espeon and Umbreon unleashed their attacks and they took out the two Whisper Pokémon with just one hit, much to Folly's dismay.
"Gaah! You're tougher than you look!" Folly exclaimed. "You took out my Whismur... You're no ordinary Trainer, are you?!" He looked right at Wes's face. "Huh? Wait a sec..." He took a good look at Wes and he gasped when he realized who just beaten him. "That face... You might be... Team Snatch's..."
"I used to be," Wes said.
Hearing the commotion, a woman and a young man came rushing to the scene.
"What, what?! What's going on here?!" The young man exclaimed. The woman shrieked when she saw the sack.
"Somebody! Robbers! They're robbers!" The woman exclaimed. Trudly turned to the woman.
"Y-You shut up! We're no robbers! We're kidnappers Get it? Kidnappers!" Trudly said. Folly ran up to his accomplice and placed his hand over his mouth.
"You dingbat! Don't shoot off your mouth!" Folly said. He turned to Wes with a galre. "Don't get happy all just on account of winning this once," Folly said. "The next time we meet, I'll trash you, your Pokémon, and all!"
"Hope you put up a better fight until then," Wes said. Trudly and Folly ran off, leaving their vehicle behind them.
Wes called back his two partners and he walked up to the sack.
"Yuck, there's someone inside it. Can you believe some people?" The young man asked.
"Think you help the person out?" The woman asked.
Wes said nothing as he went to undo the knot, and out of the sack is a girl with orange hair in pigtails, and blue eyes. She wore a black choker with a moon on it. She also wore a purple top that exposed her midriff, a white skirt that almost reached her knees, pink boots, and black socks. Wes was awestruck by her appearance. His cheeks slightly turned pink.
"Phew! Thank goodness. I'm saved!" The girl happily exclaimed. She looked around and she didn't recognized her surroundings. "...Where is this? Where did those two bring me?"
"This is Phenac City, the opulent city of water," the woman answered. She turned to Wes. "This person saved you from those thugs." Wes turned his head, still blushing.
"It's true. You're just lucky I was at the right place at the right time," Wes said.
"The way he battled those goons, it was truly superb! I wish you could have seen it!" The young man said.
"Oh? Is that so? Thank you! And... Uh... You are?" The girl asked.
"Wes," Wes simply answered.
"Wes. That's a good name," the girl said. She looked right at his face and saw he was blushing.
"Okay, now it's your turn. You know my name, so I might as well know yours, too," Wes said.
"My name's Rui. I'm glad I met you!" Rui said.
"How did you end up getting caught by those two stooges anyway?" Wes asked.
"I was in the neighboring town when those two grabbed me..." Rui explained and then paused. She gasped when she remembered something very important. "Oh! Those guys, did they use a peculiar Pokémon?" Wes looked at her funny as did the woman and the young man.
"A peculiar Pokémon? No, they looked like ordinary Pokémon to me. What do you mean by peculiar Pokémon?" The young man asked. Rui set her attention on the young man.
"Oh... No... No, that's fine, then," Rui said.
"Well, it's easy to see something's on your mind. You should go see our mayor for his advice," the woman suggested. "He's a very kindly person. I'm sure he'll help you somehow."
"Okay, the mayor. Any idea where we can get in touch with him?" Wes asked.
"The mayor's house is near the fountain square past here. Go up from the square on your left," the woman instructed.
"Okay. The mayor might know something," Rui said. She turned to Wes. "Hey, Wes... I know I'm imposing, but I don't have anyone else I can turn to. Please, can I get you to escort me for a while?" Wes looked at her face, but mostly into her eyes. For some reason, he wanted to get to know this girl, so he couldn't refuse her request.
"Okay, you can stick around if that's what you want," Wes said This made Rui happy.
"Thank you, Wes! Eheh, I thought you might say that! If you're with me, Wes, it won't matter if those guys come back again! Thanks for joining me for a while!" Rui said, hugging him. Wes was blushing in a deep shade of red, but he liked it.
"She's so soft," Wes said in his thoughts. She stopped hugging him and she blushed when she realized what she just did.
"Sorry, I got carried away," Rui apologized.
"It's fine," Wes said, still blushing.
(Flashback ends)
"You can be such a girl sometimes," Wes said.
"Maybe that's because I am a girl," Rui said. This just caused Wes and Rui to start laughing. "But since you brought up Axel, the Organization had only 12 members when we met and when we were in the realm of darkness."
"Yeah. What we wouldn't expect that Roxas would just leave the Organization, placing a target on his own back. I guess I can relate to the poor kid," Wes said.
"He had his reasons, just like you did, Wes," Rui said.
"You're right about that, Rui. It probably won't be long until the Organization makes itself known again, so we'll have to be ready for them," Wes said. Rui nodded as she understood. She then snuggled with Wes, so he placed his arm around her shoulder and gave her a peck on the check. Rui smiled at the gesture.
Back in the Contest Hall, the last performance has been finished, and the judges ended up deliberating on their decisions.
"We have seen a handful of performances here today and these four Coordinators will be moving on in the finals! So here they all are!" Vivian announced as Kairi, Drew, Grace, and Chaz's mugshots are displayed on the computer.
"I knew Kairi was gonna make it in!" Sora said.
"With points like the ones she scored, she was bound to be a shoe-in," Brendan said.
"If May were here, she'd agree with you," Lisia said.
Over to the back, some of the Coordinators were disappointed that they didn't make it to the finals. Chaz was massaging Machoke's muscles.
"I knew you'd do it, Machoke. I never lost faith in you," Chaz said.
"Choke," Machoke said.
"For round 2, contestants will be battling! And here are the match ups for the second round!" Vivian announced as the computer has randomized the contestants. The battles will have Kairi against Chaz, and Drew against Grace.
"It looks like I get what I want after all," Chaz said as he chuckled. "I'm going to show this redhead that only I have the right to be considered Lissi's rival and nobody else. And even those white things will stand in the way of that."
"Look, Chaz, I want you to know, Lisia is not my rival, she is my friend and she's entitled to make as much friends as she wants," Kairi said.
"You think so, huh?" Chaz asked.
A few seconds later, both Coordinators stepped on the stage to begin the battle.
"The first battle of the second of the Fallarbor Pokémon Contest is about to begin! On my left is Kairi, and on the right is Chaz! To those who are new to the Contest rules, Coordinators have 5 minutes to execute Pokémon moves gracefully, and take as many points from their opponents as possible! Ladies and gentlemen, feast your eyes on Stage 1 for Match 1!" Vivian announced as the clock starts running.
"It's showtime, Machoke!" Chaz called out, taking out his Pokéball and threw it. Machoke emerged from inside and flexing her muscles flauntingly. Kairi took out her Pokéball and threw it.
"Beautifly! Go!" Kairi called out. Beautifly came out by doing a swirl.
"Wow, this is going to be a great match," Brendan said.
"Kairi's got the advantage when it comes to typings," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Machoke! Use Round!" Chaz ordered. Machoke then started to sing a song on a high note, sending out several red, green, and blue music notes all around.
"Machoke begins by singing a Round on a high note!" Vivian announced.
"Dodge it, Beautifly!" Kairi called out. Beautifly dodged the music notes coming right for her.
"Beautifly comes back with a narrow dodge!" Vivian announced.
"Okay, Beautifly! Use Air Cutter!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly unleashed Air Cutter by elegantly flapping her wings. Blades of air came right at the Superpower Pokémon.
"Use Bulk Up!" Chaz ordered. Machoke builds up her muscles, making Beautifly's attack bounce off. Both Kairi and Chaz have lost some points with that one, but Kairi has lost a little more than Chaz did. "Now, Machoke! Use Brick Break!"
"Machoke is now attempting to finish it up by using a tough Brick Break!" Vivian announced.
"Beautifly! Use Gust!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings and sends Machoke flying backwards when Beautifly's Gust has hit her mark. It deals some heavy damage due to her weakness to Flying-type moves. Chaz has lost some of his points.
"That's taken a chunk of Chaz's points," Brendan said.
"Machoke! Use Brick Break again!" Chaz ordered. Machoke charges right at Beautifly with another Brick Break.
"Machoke is attempting to end this with another use of Brick Break, but can Machoke land a hit this time?" Vivian asked.
"Beautifly! Use Silver Wind!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings and catches Machoke in the silver gust, making Chaz lose some more of his points.
"Machoke gets the wind knocked out of it!" Vivian announced.
"How dare you!" Chaz growled. Machoke! Use Round!" Machoke sang her song again, sending the music notes to Beautifly.
"Okay, Beautifly! Use Air Cutter!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly gracefully unleashed Air Cutter, cutting the music notes to ribbons and hitting Machoke hard, resulting in a knockout. Chaz has lost his remaining points with a minute and fifty-eight seconds remaining.
"Chaz and Machoke have lost all their points. Will Kairi please proceed to the final stage?" Vivian asked.
"You bet," Kairi said. She held out her arm and Beautifly lands right on her arm. "You were wonderful, Beautifly."
"Beautifly," Beautifly said.
"I can't believe it! I lost to some commoner?!" Chaz exclaimed in disbelief.
"Since Kairi has won it, she will be heading for the final stage!" Vivian announced as Kairi called her Beautifly back inside. "Second match on stage 1 between Grace and Drew will now begin!" The clock starts running.
"Roselia! Let's go!" Drew called out, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. Roselia emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Medicham! I choose you!" Grace called out. Her Pokéball opened and her Medicham emerged from inside. Drew and Grace started at each other. Kairi is watching from the back, knowing she'll be up against the winner of the battle.
"Let's go! Magical Leaf!" Drew ordered. Roselia unleashed Magical Leaf and sends it right at the Meditate Pokémon.
"Roselia's Magical Leaf is true elegance!" Vivian announced.
"Medicham! Detect!" Grace ordered. Medicham uses Detect to dodge Roselia's Magical Leaf.
"Medicham makes a beautiful dodge with that Detect!" Vivian announced.
"Ice Punch, Medicham!" Grace ordered. Medicham's fist emits ice and sends it right at Roselia.
"And now, it comes back hard with an Ice Punch!" Vivian announced.
"Dodge it, Roselia!" Drew called out. Roselia dodges Medicham's Ice Punch, leaving a patch of ice on the ground. The ice quickly melted.
"Beautiful. Roselia dodged that Ice Punch without missing an elegant stand!" Vivian announced.
"And now, Petal Dance, Roselia!" Drew ordered. Roselia unleashed Petal Dance right at Medicham.
"A beautiful attack! It's Roselia's amazing Petal Dance!" Vivian announced.
"Now, use Psychic!" Grace ordered. Medicham uses Psychic to block the flower petals in their place before they could land a hit on her.
"Uh-oh!" Drew gasped.
"Rosel!" Roselia also gasped.
"That is really going to hurt his ego pretty badly," Sora said.
"Chu," Pikachu said.
"Vee," Angel said.
"As to stopping time itself, Medicham puts an udrupt end to Roselia's Petal Dance!" Vivian announced.
"Now, send that Petal Dance right back!" Grace called out. Medicham sends Roselia's Petal Dance right back at Roselia, dealing some heavy damage.
"Wow! Medicham used Petal Dance against Roselia!" Vivian announced as Drew has lost some of his points.
"Roselia! Solar Beam!" Drew ordered. Roselia begins to build up solar energy to use on Medicham.
"Drew's using Solar Beam now?" Brendan asked.
"He wants to turn this around with just one move," Lisia said.
"I'm thinking the same thing. But the problem is, Solar Beam takes up time to charge up, and I don't time is on his side," Sora said.
"Medicham! Ice Punch on the ground!" Grace ordered. Medicham repeatedly punches the ground with Ice Punch.
"What is she trying to do?" Kairi asked.
"Would you look at that! Medicham is pummeling the ground with an Ice Punch!" Vivian announced.
Roselia fired Solar Beam, but not before one, last Ice Punch. With that, Roselia's Solar Beam is reflected by the ice and sends it right back at Roselia, dealing some additional damage.
"Wonderful!" Contesta said.
"I have never seen a comeback like that before," Athena said with awe.
"Wow! Remarkable!" Suziko said.
Drew has lost some more of his points.
"Medicham! Use Meditate and then High Jump Kick!" Grace ordered. Medicham jumps in the air and briefly floats before heading right for Roselia.
"Whoa! Medicham combination attack comes as smooth as silk!" Vivian announced.
"Drew's in trouble now," Kairi said.
"Roselia, try to dodge it," Drew pleaded. Roselia could barely move due to the damage he has sustained during the battle. Medicham comes closer to Roselia. "Watch out!" Medicham stops in front of Roselia, surprising Drew, Roselia, and everyone watching. But it was a ruse, so Medicham lands a brutal kick.
"That High Jump Kick scores a direct hit!" Vivian announced. Roselia lands right on the ground.
"Roselia!" Drew gasped.
"Is it able to continue battling?" Vivian asked. Roselia was knocked out, due to Medicham's finishing blow, so the judges have deemed Roselia unable to battle. "Roselia cannot continue, so the winner of the match is Grace, and she will be moving on to the final stage!" The crowd cheered hard.
"Medicham, you were great," Grace praised the Meditate Pokémon.
"Medicham," Medicham beamed. Drew called Roselia back inside and he smiled.
"You were awesome. What a great show," Drew said.
Over to Kairi, she was amazed by how well Grace battled and how she was able to beat Drew without breaking a sweat. She then remembered by how Greta handled her Medicham against Sora's Aerodactyl, and how he would have lost if he hadn't pulled off a miracle when he did. Kairi knew she's going to need more than a miracle to pull it off against her.
"Remember what Grace said, Kairi. Just do your best," Kairi reminded herself in her thoughts. A few minutes later, Kairi and Grace stepped out and got into position.
The Fallarbor chapter of the Pokemon Contests is drawing to a close! Get ready for the final victory battle!" Vivian announced as the crowd all cheered.
"Don't think for a minute I'm going to go easy on you, Kairi. A battle is a battle," Grace said in her thoughts.
"I'm ready for anything you throw at me. Give me everything," Kairi said in her thoughts.
"It all comes down to this! Begin!" Vivian announced. Kairi and Grace each took out a Pokéball.
"Beautifly! Go!" Kairi called out, throwing her Pokéball. Beautifly came out, ready to battle.
"Medicham! Come on out!" Grace called out.
"Beautifly! Use Air Cutter!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings and sends out blades of air right at Medicham.
"Medicham! Use Metitate!" Grace ordered. Medicham uses Metitate to dodge Beautifly's Air Cutter.
"Amazing! Medicham dodged Beautifly's Air Cutter without breaking metitate!" Vivian announced.
"Medicham! Ice Punch!" Grace ordered. Medicham came right at Beautifly with an Ice Punch.
"Use Gust!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings, catching Medicham in the wind attack, canceling Medicham's Ice Punch.
"Beautifly's Gust is right on target!" Vivian announced. Medicham started to fall straight for the ground.
"That was very impressive, but you're not going to beat my Medicham that easily! Medicham! Use Psychic!" Grace ordered. Medicham uses Psychic on herself to break her fall.
"Medicham is limiting the number of points it could lose by using Psychic on itself!" Vivian announced. Grace has lost some of her points in the process.
"Not bad. What did you think, Kairi?" Grace asked.
"I knew you weren't going to make it easy for me, Grace. Well, I'm not going to make it easy for you either. Beautifly! Use Air Cutter!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings and sent the air blades right at the Meditate Pokémon to deal some damage.
"Medicham! Use Psychic!" Grace ordered. Medicham uses Psychic on Beautifly's Air Cutter, the same way she stopped Roselia's Petal Dance from earlier.
"Medicham stops Beautifly's Air Cutter just before it could land a hit!" Vivian announced.
"And now, send it right back to Beautifly!" Grace said. Medicham uses Psychic to send Beautifly's own attack right back at her. Kairi knew it was coming too fast to block, so she decided to dodge.
"Dodge it, Beautifly! Quick!" Kairi called out.
Beautifly managed to dodge a few of the air blades, but Beautifly's struck hard by her own Air Cutter.
"Beautifly managed to dodge some of its own attack, but the rest came back at Beautifly fast!" Vivian announced.
"All right, Ice Punch, go!" Grace ordered. Medicham jumped in the air to deliver an Ice Punch to Beautifly. Due to Beautifly's injuries, she is struck by Medicham's Ice Punch, freezing her.
"Beautifly!" Kairi gasped.
"It's another direct hit with that Ice Punch!" Vivian announced. Kairi has lost more of her points.
"That Ice Punch was sparkly as the ice," Athena said.
"Wonderful," Contesta said.
"Truly remarkable," Suziko said.
"Break out of that ice, Beautifly!" Kairi called out. Beautifly struggled a bit, but she managed to break free from the ice.
"Time to wrap this up! Medicham! Use Meditate!" Grace ordered. Medicham managed to do a few poses, indicating meditation. "And then High Jump Kick!" Medicham jumped and held out her knee to land a devastating kick onto her. Luckily, she knew High Jump Kick deals some damage on Medicham when she misses, so she had to use it against her.
"Dodge it!" Kairi called out. Beautifly managed to dodge Medicham's High Jump Kick. "Use Silver Wind!" Beautifly flapped her wings, hitting Medicham. She hits the ground with her knee. She gets back on her feet, but suffered a devastating injury in the process. Grace also knew that about High Jump Kick.
"Oh no!" Grace gasped.
"A Silver Wind bullseye! And since High Jump Kick was dodged, Medicham has lost some serious points!" Vivian announced as Grace lost some of her points. She lost a little more than Kairi did.
"Try this! Beautifly! Use Silver Wind!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly managed to cover the entire battlefield with a silver blanket of fog.
"Beautifly has created a silver fog!" Vivian announced.
"Now use Air Cutter!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings, sending the air blades into the silver fog, making it sparkle and hitting Medicham as well.
"Beautifly's Silver Wind and Air Cutter combo has not hit Medicham, but also made several silver sparkles!" Vivian announced.
"Oh, it's very beautiful," Athena said with awe.
"It's truly wonderful," Contesta said.
"Remarkable," Suziko said.
"Use Gust!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly spins around and lands a hit onto Medicham, dealing some more damage.
"Beautifly's making good with Gust, creating a tornado!" Vivian announced.
Medicham was down, but not out. Medicham slowly gets back up on her feet.
"Shoot! Medicham still hasn't recovered from that High Jump Kick," Grace said.
"Use Silver Wind, but same as Gust!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flew around and spins, making another tornado.
"Beautifly's doing what it did with Gust, but this time, creating a silver tornado!" Vivian announced.
"Don't think you're going to get me again, Kairi! Medicham! Use Detect!" Grace ordered. Medicham tried to dodge, but she was trapped by the silver tornado.
"Mix it up with Gust!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly added her Gust along with Silver Wind, making it into a combo, catching Medicham in it.
"That combination of Gust and Silver Wind makes a tornado of tremendous power!" Vivian announced.
"Gorgeous technique!" Athena said.
"Such a creative combination," Contesta said.
"Yes, remarkable!" Suziko said.
"There's less than a minute left of the clock!" Vivian announced.
"This battle's just getting started! Medicham! Use High Jump Kick!" Grace ordered. Medicham puts her knee forward to land a kick when she jumped.
"Use Air Cutter!" Kairi ordered. Beautifly flapped her wings, sending out more air blades, so Medicham's knee cuts through the blades like a knife cutting through butter. The clock ran its course. Medicham managed to land a successful kick despite gaining some injuries in the process. Beautifly and Medicham were exhausted from the intense battling they were both going through. The clock ran out.
"Our time is up. And who is our winner?" Vivian asked as the scoreboard indicates Kairi has more than Grace does. "Why it's Kairi!"
"Yes! Kairi, I knew you'd do it!" Sora cheered.
Beautifly flew up to Kairi and she hugged the Butterfly Pokémon.
"You were amazing out there, Beautifly. I love you," Kairi said.
"Beautifly," Beautifly said, nuzzling her.
A few moments later as Kairi and Beautifly stood before the judges to receive her second Contest Ribbon.
"We now present our champions Kairi and Beautifly with the Fallarbor Town Ribbon," Vivian announced.
"Congratulations," Contesta said.
"Thank you very much," Kairi said, accepting her ribbon. Grace walked up to Kairi and Beautifly.
"Great battle, you two," Grace said.
"I was thinking the same thing, Grace," Kairi said.
"I was very impressed by the way you performed and battled. You deserve to win after what I saw," Grace said.
"Well, I would have said the exact same thing if you won," Kairi said. Grace just looked at her and then started to burst out laughing again.
"Oh, that's too much!" Grace said as she laughed. She then stopped laughing. "In all seriousness, I do appreciate it, Kairi. You have loads of confidence, and never lose that."
"I promise I won't," Kairi said.
After the Contest was over, Sora, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel were waiting for her to rejoin them.
"That was awesome out there, Kairi. If May were here, she would be moved by how you handled your Beautifly," Brendan said.
"You're right, Brendan. To be honest, I wasn't sure I would win it, but it was loads of fun," Kairi said.
"And that's all that matters," Lisia said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Once again, you passed my expectations with flying colors," a familiar voice spoke. They saw it was Drew. "If you ended up against me in the first round, things would have been different."
"I don't doubt it," Kairi said. Drew was dumbfounded by what she just said. "I'll see you when I see you."
"You too, Kairi," Drew said, taking his leave and heads off to compete another Pokémon Contest.
"Now that the Contest is over and done with, our next stop will be Lavaridge Town," Sora said.
"That's right, Sora. Let's go," Kairi said.
With two Contest Ribbons under her belt, Kairi is one step closer in competing in the Grand Festival, and so Sora, Kairi, Brendan, Lisia, Pikachu, and Angel have departed from Fallarbor Town and began heading for Lavaridge Town.
But unknown to them, they have other sets of shadows right behind them. Wes, Rui, Xipak, and Celeste continued to follow them, knowing something was coming their way, so stay tuned.
