Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.
Let's get to it.
tristian5: The Alliance does use something similar to the MAAT. I'll get to that in later chapters.
Rico: Well, remember his name is just Ben, not Benjamin. And I'm not going to give out that kind of spoilers.
Banzai Bill 28: No. They don't have connections in the Milky Way and the Alliance doesn't exactly broadcast the truth about the Grysk.
MatbeK01: I'm not sure I'll have Luke die at all. As for the warship classes, yes, you'll get descriptions on the wiki.
Chapter 22- New Command
(May 29, 2049)
Above Naboo, the battlecruiser North Carolina drops out of hyperspace. The few warships still over Naboo quickly train their guns towards the direction of the North Carolina for a few moments before confirming it's friendly.
On board, in the admiral's quarters, Jonathan is going over the most recent intelligence reports on the status of the war. He had left Earth just the day after receiving his promotion, and is now finally arriving on Naboo to officially take up his new command.
Needless to say, the war has not been going well. The First Order has been moving across the galaxy with alarming speed. The Alliance has been scrambling trying to resist them, but the time needed to get reinforcements to Andromeda has given the First Order plenty of time to seize territory. The First Order now controls almost the entirety of the Deep Core and the Core Worlds and some of the Colonies.
As Jonathan opens another file folder, the door into his quarters opens. He looks up and sees it's one of the Captains he's bringing with him from Starfleet HQ to work on his personal staff at his new position.
"Yes, Captain?" Jonathan asks.
"Sir, we just dropped out of hyperspace in the Naboo system," the Captain says.
"Good," Jonathan responds. He quickly packs up his files and other things into his briefcase as the Captain grabs the suitcase containing Jonathan's personal belongings he's bringing along to Naboo. The two of them then head down to the hangar, where a shuttle is waiting to take them down to Theed. Jonathan had chosen not to bring his family along with him. At least until he was more certain of Naboo's security.
As they enter the hangar, Jonathan sees the hangar crews preparing a number of the North Carolina's starfighters for a patrol mission. Jonathan and the Captain with him make their way through the bustling hangar crews towards their shuttle, which is resting right close to the exit from the hangar.
"We're ready to go, Grand Admiral," the copilot of the shuttle, who is standing outside the shuttle, says as Jonathan walks up to the shuttle. Jonathan gives a simple nod of the head as he and his entourage board the shuttle.
The shuttle soon takes off and flies out of the North Carolina's hangar. Looking out of the viewports in the passenger bay, Jonathan can see the defense fleet over Naboo. At the moment, it's relatively small, with most of the Andromeda Fleet's ships deployed elsewhere.
The shuttle makes its way down to Theed and touches down on one of the many landing pads on the outside of the fleet headquarters in Theed. Down on the ground, Alliance personnel and native Naboo citizens watch as the shuttle makes its approach. They had been told the new top commander would be arriving today.
As the shuttle touches down and the engines begin to shut down, Jonathan and his entourage stand up from their seats, gather up their belongings, and then walk out of the shuttle as the boarding ramp lowers. As they exit the shuttle, they find a small greeting party waiting for them. Standing right in the front is Fleet Admiral Jacobsen.
"Jonathan," Jacobsen greets his new boss. Although Jonathan is now a higher rank than Jacobsen, the two have been friends for some years and usually call each other by their first names.
"Ryan," Jonathan greets his friend. The two step forward and share a handshake and a smile.
"Everything ready for me?" Jonathan asks.
"Of course. All your officers are fully stocked and prepared," Jacobsen responds.
"Alright. Let me get all of our things put away and get settled a bit, and then you can give me your briefing on the latest developments," Jonathan says.
"Understood. Welcome to Naboo, and to hell, Admiral. You are gonna be busy like you never believed," Jacobsen says with a slight grin.
(An hour later)
Jonathan takes a seat at a conference table in the fleet HQ's Situation Room. After taking some time to get situated, Jonathan is ready to jump right into things.
"Alright. What's the current situation in the Core?" Jonathan asks.
"Bad, Jonathan- Admiral," Jacobsen says, correcting himself, knowing he now has to get used to calling Jonathan by that title to show respect for his position. He then continues, "The First Order has virtually complete control of almost everything in the Core, and some of the Colonies. Pockets of resistance from natives remain on a few worlds, but not anything threatening to the First Order. The only two holdouts we know of are Anaxes and Chandrila. We also have confirmation that the First Order has begun moving out into the Inner Rim as well, as we received word just hours ago that they have attacked and occupied Bilbringi."
Jonathan sighs a bit as he hears this before he asks, "What are our ship losses looking like right now?"
"So far we've lost 29 warships. Mostly cruisers, but some Star Destroyers," Jacobsen says. He pauses, then says, "However, we did successfully capture the First Order's battlecruiser called the Finalizer at D'Qar, and we've managed to commandeer a few Mon Cala cruisers since the Cataclysm. However these are not near enough to make up for our losses."
"I've spoken heavily with the Joint Command since I first received my promotion. From what they said, we'll be having about 80 more ships arriving within the next week," Jonathan says.
"That'll still leave us with only about 300 ships," Jacobsen points out.
"And that's why I'm here," Jonathan says, trying to lift spirits. Jacobsen grins a bit at that. Jonathan then adds, "And that's also why I'm making it top priority to hunt down remnants of the Republic's fleet. They're no good to themselves scattered and without a command structure. If we can get them under our command, it'll be a huge boost to the fleet."
"Already on it. We've already got a few small task forces travelling the territory still out of First Order control, trying to find what remnants of the fleet we can," Jacobsen replies.
"Good. The Republic may have been pretty useless in helping us against the First Order, but what's left of their military may not," Jonathan says.
(May 31, 2049)
In the situation room, Jonathan is watching as reports are continually streaming in on the screens surrounding him of the evolving situation.
The war has only been ramping up since Jonathan arrived on Naboo, and Jonathan has hitting the ground running. With no hesitation, Jonathan has deployed his forces across the galaxy to try and combat the advance of the First Order. With the Republic crumbling, the Alliance has moved quickly to take full control of the galaxy and take control of the war.
However, things are not going so well. The First Order is still advancing through the Colonies and Inner Rim, while the Alliance is scrambling to fortify their territory and bring more former Republic military assets under their control.
As Jonathan is reading the reports on the screens, the door suddenly opens, and in walks Admiral Jacobsen. Jonathan turns towards him, and seeing the expression on Jacobsen's face, asks, "What do we got?
"Some pretty dang good news. One of our task forces just reported that they found the Lusankya," Jacobsen says.
Jonathan immediately perks up. The Republic had captured a total of 4 Executor class Super Star Destroyers over the course of the Galactic Civil War, and 3 were still in service by the time of the Cataclysm. Two of them had been confirmed destroyed in the Hosnian Cataclysm. The third one, the Lusankya, was in some other part of the galaxy, and its location was unknown after the Cataclysm. Finding it had been one of the top priorities for the Alliance, not only to be able to bring it under their command, but also to make sure the First Order didn't get their hands on it.
"Where?" Jonathan asks.
"The Outer Rim, reportedly hiding out in the Yavin system," Jacobsen says. He pauses, then adds, "They made contact with the Lusankya, and the captain of the vessel agreed to return with them to Naboo."
"Good," Jonathan says. He knows that the TAS Vanguard is due to arrive in the Naboo system tomorrow, and once the Lusankya comes, he'll have two Super Star Destroyers under his command. And at this point, every resource counts.
And, I'll end there. I know, it was short, but I just wanted to show Jonathan taking his new command and give an idea of the progress of the war.
Next chapter will be up soon. Until it's up, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
