Hey, everybody. Back with another chapter.

This will wrap up the Battle of Dantooine. It might be a bit shorter than last one, but we'll see.

Also, to the reviewers (or reviewer) who keeps harassing me about it: I am NOT writing a separate story about the Colossus. Stop asking!

Let's get to it.

tristian5: Not sure why you think the armor is invulnerable to slugthrowers. The Ewoks and Boba Fett have proved its vulnerable even to bludgeoning weapons. Also, we still use guns when kevlar and other body armor exists, which, if you remember, is not invulnerable. Plus, we use bullets that can penetrate the armor, and even if it couldn't, there's plenty of gaps to exploit. Also, in case you haven't noticed, the Alliance uses blasters plenty, even from the time of the Clone Wars. Whether to use blasters or normal firearms is up to the preference of unit commanders and sometimes the individual soldier.

fb111a: maybe, but the Alliance doesn't want to radiate planets if they don't have to.

Chapter 27- Victory on Dantooine

(August 25, 2049)

"Fire!"

The sergeant manning the trigger yanks the lever back, and the 155 mm artillery piece fires, the boom mixing in with the same sound coming from about a dozen other howitzers.

"Breach clear!" the commander of the gun calls out as the other crew race into positions. Two men yank the breach of the gun open and allow the spent cartridge to be ejected. Another soldier places the next shell into the loading tray before one more rams the shell into the gun. In seconds, the breach is closed and ready to fire. "Fire!" he orders, and the gun fires again.

The artillery crew are part of the Indian Army's 2nd Mountain Division's artillery brigade. They are currently up on the side of a mountain, firing down on a small army of stormtroopers trying to attack the infantry of the 2nd Division.

The Battle of Dantooine has been raging for about 3 days by now. By now, the battle is winding down. The battle in orbit had been bloody, with the Terrans losing six warships and even more damaged. However, they had destroyed all but two of the First Order's warships and captured the two they hadn't destroyed, and also destroyed a wave of reinforcements that came on the second day.

On the ground, the battle was easily going in the Alliance's favor. The main assault against Camp Organa had failed miserably. The 5th Panzer Army had stopped the attack miles from the camp and driven them away. Despite the First Order's attempts to regroup, the Germans had kept up the pressure on them. Eventually, the panzers, with assistance of the 17th Airborne Division conducting air assault operations, destroyed the First Order army trying to assault Camp Organa.

Now, the battle in the south was almost over, with the Germans assisting the Elves in defeating the First Order's army in the south, while the Indians and Lortirians are still holding their positions in the mountains and just wearing down the army trying to attack them. The First Order has tried launching multiples attacks against their positions, but the Indians and Lortirians have held their positions with relatively few casualties.

Now, the Indians have been stationing their infantry near the base of the mountains while keeping their artillery higher up the slopes, allowing the artillery to continue pounding the First Order's ranks while the infantry holds their position against the attacking stormtroopers.

The lookout attached to the artillery crew is keeping careful watch of the impacts of the gun's shells. Seeing a number of stormtroopers with some heavier weapons and small artillery advancing towards the base of the mountain just east of their current aim spot, the spotter calls out, "Next shell, alter orientation two degrees east!"

The gun fires, and then the crew spin the wheel to rotate the gun left 2 degrees as the spotter called for. In seconds, the next round is loaded and the breach is closed. "Fire!" the commander orders, and the howitzer fires another 155mm shell. The spotter carefully watches the battalion of stormtroopers he had spotted. Within seconds, he sees an explosion as the shell hits right at the front of the battalion. The other stormtroopers scatter to try and avoid further fire.

The artillery crew are starting to feel very tired, and their timing is slowing a bit. They've been firing almost nonstop for over an hour. However, they are not about to abandon firing until they receive orders to do so.

As the commander is occupied, he suddenly hears his radio bark to life. "All units! 21st Panzer Division is inbound from the south-east! Expect arrival in 15 minutes!" a radio controller calls out over the III Corps' frequency.

"Alright, men! Soon, we will have relief!" the commanders calls out. The others on the crew cheer as well, but continue to reload and fire the howitzer.

(10 miles south-east)

Standing up in the porthole in the top of his Leopard 3 tank, a brigade commander of the 21st Panzer Division is watching the horizon with his binoculars as his tank leads the whole of the 21st forward.

The 21st had been left behind at Camp Organa as the rest of the 5th Panzer Army headed south. They had finally been ordered to head to reinforce the Indians and Lortirians and finally wrap up the battle.

The colonel sighs a bit as he continues to scan the horizon. He can hear the distant explosions of artillery fire and other sounds of battle, but as of yet, he can't see either their allies or the First Order.

"Reduce speed by 5," the colonel calls down into the tank. The driver pulls back on the throttle slightly, reducing the Leopard's speed down to 40 miles per hour. The other tanks of the division soon see that the lead tank has slowed down and also slow down to stay behind it.

The colonel continues just staring through his binoculars at the horizon. Then, finally, he starts to see laser bolts flying in all directions on the horizon, as well as clouds of smoke and dust thrown up by exploding artillery fire. Then, finally, the First Order's army appears on the horizon.

"Enemy in sight!" the colonel yells out before dropping back down into the turret and closing the hatch behind him. The colonel then gets on the radio and calls out to the entire division, "Enemy in sight! All guns loaded and ready!"

In each of the division's tanks, the autoloading system quickly rams HEAT rounds into the breach of the guns before closing the breach. Each tank is ready to fight.

The colonel looks through his thermal sight as the battle sight gets closer and closer. Through the thermal sight, it's far easier for him to identify his targets. He can identify a few small walkers and artillery, but thankfully only a single AT-AT and no AT-M6s.

Finally, the 21st gets within 2.2 miles of the First Order's positions, and the colonel in the lead tank orders his gunner, "Fire."

The gunner centers the gunsight on a First Order artillery battery on the edge of the army, and then pulls the trigger. The gun immeditately fires, discharging a HEAT round. The round slams into the battery, blasting right through it and wrecking it completely. The other tank commanders all see the smoke from the muzzle blast, and the rest of the tanks of the 21st begin firing their guns as well.

The First Order's ranks are caught completely off guard as 130mm rounds start slamming into their right flank. The shock of sudden heavy artillery fire shatters the cohesion of the right flank of the First Order's army, and some ranks break into a rout away from the charging panzers, right into the still solid ranks of the rest of the army, spreading the chaos caused by the artillery fire.

The colonel chuckles as he sees the stormtroopers beginning to break. As he watches, a number of HEAT rounds hit the lone AT-AT, severing the head and one of the legs. "Slow to 40 kilos. Continue firing," he orders. The tanks slow even further, but continue firing their main guns as they continue their advance.

(August 26, 2049)

In the situation room of his headquarters in Camp Organa, Field Marshall Kummetz is looking at a video screen where the divisional commander of the 2nd Lortirian Infantry Division is displayed.

"We have captured most of the strays. We estimate about a company's worth of troopers still remain at large," the Lortirian brigadier general says formally. The battle in the mountains was basically over, but a handful of stormtroopers had escaped into the mountains, and the Lortirians had been hunting them ever since.

"Good. Continue the hunt and report back once you believe you have the rest," Kummetz says.

"Yes, Field Marshall," the Lortirian general responds before cutting the call.

As the call fades to black, Kummetz finally lets himself fall into a chair to rest. At last, after three and a half days of combat, the battle for Dantooine is over. Despite sustaining almost 15,000 casualties, the Terran Alliance had secured a major victory over the First Order. Although, a lot of officers were already saying that the victory on the ground was due especially to the power and success of the 5th Panzer Army.

Kummetz feels a great sense of relief flood through him. Though the battle has been tough, the Alliance has held Dantooine. Now, if they can continue these victories, they can finally stop the First Order's relentless advance across the galaxy.

And, I'll end the chapter there. Also, just a quick reminder to keep updated on the wiki, as I am still creating new pages and additions to existing ones as the story progresses.

Alright. Next chapter will be up soon. Until it's up, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
