It was another day in Savannah City. Except for the fact that Lenny was the one doing grocery shopping for the Rangers, since Grandma Rose was held up in Wisconsin following the end of her reunion. "Alright, I've got all the stuff we need, so now I need to fulfil everyone's requests." Said requests were written on the back of the list, consisting of Johnny wanting some Skittles candy, Marina wanting poached fish, Trunks wanting a bag of peanuts and Tora wanting some pet toys. "Well, this shouldn't take me much longer."

As he was walking along, Lenny ended up bumping into someone, nearly dropping his bag of groceries, but managing to catch it. "Sorry about that.", she blurted out to him. "I wasn't looking where I was going."

"Don't worry, neither was…" Lenny then took a good look at the person he had crashed into. She was a human woman, around 30 years of age, who managed to still look like she was much younger. "I."

"Oh, I'm sorry. I should've introduced myself.", the woman realised, giggling. "I'm Stevie."

"Lenny.", the Animan introduced himself, still in a love struck trance. "Oh, what are you searching for? Maybe I can help-."

"Oh, it's nothing.", Stevie assured him. "I'm just looking for a few supplies for my trip. I've been coming her for them for a while now." She then moved on. "Sorry for taking up your time."

Lenny forlornly watched her go, before snapping himself out of it. "Try not to think of her, Lenny. You're not going to see her again."

Up on the Arrowhead, Cuborg walked in with his latest choice of monster, an alien who resembled a workman in a padded jacket and knitted cap, with blue skin. "I'd like to introduce Mega Miner!", Cuborg announced. But he looked around to find that the pair were alone. "Odd. The others are not usually absent."

"So does that mean we're gonna quit the whole thing?", Mega Miner asked. When he spoke, it was with a Brooklyn accent.

"Negative. We carry on.", Cuborg insisted. "We have a plan in place. You are to teleport to the area known as the Grizzly Mountains and recover the Cubezord buried there."

"Alright.", Mega Miner nodded, before teleporting out.

Down on Earth, Lenny returned from the supermarket, arriving back at the zoo house. "Hello, I'm back.", he called out to everyone.

"Good, because I've got an announcement.", Johnny called out, ushering Lenny to sit down with the others. "An old friend has come to town and wants me to go on a camping hike through Grizzly Mountains. And since I think it would be a good experience for all of you, I asked if I could bring you along. She said it was fine, though she would have to go out and buy a second tent."

Tora raised her hand to ask a question. "What is a 'hike'?"

"It's a long walk through a mountainous or lush area.", Trunks answered her. "What I want to know is why haven't we heard of Johnny's friend until now."

"Oh, she hasn't been in the country for the last few months." Johnny answered. "She just got in from Australia."

"Australia?", Lenny asked. "That's in England, isn't it?"

Marina sighed. "No, it's in the continent of Oceania. A name that is grossly misleading, I must say. Especially with that large inhospitable desert, the Fallback?"

"Outback.", Johnny corrected her. "Now then, she'll be here later so that I can introduce you all to -." As if on cue, the doorbell rang. "Come in." The sound of the door opening filled the air, as a woman walked in. "Everyone, I'd like you to meet my old friend, Stephanie Griffin."

"No way.", Lenny gasped. The woman Johnny was introducing was the one he had bumped into earlier today.

"Thanks for the intro Johnathan.", Stephanie said, before stepping forward and curtsying. "You can call me 'Stevie' if you want. It helps to break the ice." She then took a good look at Lenny. "Hey, you're that guy I ran into at the store today."

"R-right. My Lenny's name. Er, I mean Lenny's my name. I mean-." Lenny then started yelling, and ran out of the room, dropping the grocery bag and running off.

Trunks went to pick up the bag, removing the peanuts from it. "Typical. We'll have to sort this out ourselves." He opened the peanut bag, starting to eat from them. "Sorry about, Miss Stevie. This wasn't the first impression we were hoping to give you."

"Well, the weekend can't go any worse than this.", Tora pointed out.

In the town centre, Lenny was now pounding his fist on a wall he had buried his face into. "Darn it. Why did she have to be one of Johnny's friends? Why?"

"Hey buddy." Lenny unburied his face to see Adrien approaching him. "What's got you so down?"

"Oh, I just met the most gorgeous lady I've ever seen in two whole worlds.", Lenny answered. "Er, speaking purely metaphorically, that is. Africa and America are like two separate worlds. Anyway, she turns out to be an old friend of Johnny's. And they even allow each other to use nicknames. If they're not in love, I don't know what they are."

Adrien thought on this. "Hmm, sounds as if you just need to take the chance to show her how sincere you can be.", was what he offered. "You need a lot of time to spend with her to do that."

"Oh, that won't be a problem.", Lenny commented. "I'm about to spend a whole weekend with her. Our group's going to the mountains."

"Then that should be your time to strike.", Adrien advised. "Wait until Johnny's guard is down, and then seduce this girl with grand gestures and gifts you've made yourself. By the end of the weekend, she'll be head over heels for you."

Now a regular human would have to be born yesterday to think that Adrien's advice was in any way recommended or charming. Unfortunately, Lenny wasn't a regular human. "Yeah, I'm gonna do that. First thing when we get to the campsite. Thanks, Adrien." With that said, he turned and ran off.

Elsewhere, Ignoblia was in the process of examining footprints in the woods. "Seems like everyone's going on a walk through the woods right now." She turned around to see Keldor approaching. "I didn't think you'd leave Cuborg in charge of the Arrowhead."

"I didn't.", Ignoblia replied, snidely. "I'm currently in the middle of using these tracks to locate the beast that lives in these woods. If I could turn him to our side, he could be a powerful ally."

"Well you have plenty of time to do that.", Keldor informed her. "But right now, the Rangers are getting close to Cuborg's current plan to net us a Cubezord. What would Archris think if he found out that you'd ignored that task?"

Ignoblia thought for a few moments. "You're right. But I want you keeping an eye on things, so that you can report on when exactly his monster gets defeated by the Rangers. Until then, I'll continue here."

"As you wish.", Keldor nodded, as he stepped away.

And at the summit of Grizzly Mountain the next day, Mega Miner inserted his drill into the ground. "Let's get digging.", he commented as he began to turn the handle, penetrating the Earth. "I'll soon flush that Cubezord out of his hiding spot. And then I'll turn him in."

Lower on the mountain, the Rangers' party had commenced the hike, and climbed up several feet. "Okay, this feels like a good place to set up a camp for today.", Stevie decided.

"Really?", Tora asked. "But this is just a field. There isn't anything here."

"Correction, this is an open field.", Stevie pointed out. "It's perfect for setting up a tent."

"Allow me to do that.", Lenny insisted, as he pulled the backpack off Stevie's back, emptied it onto the dirt, and grabbed the tent, constructing the frame, before draping it over. "There. One tent constructed."

"Did you peg it in?", Johnny asked as the tent proceeded to fall apart. "I thought so." He took some out of one of the bags on the floor. "You really haven't done this before, have you." He took one of the pegs, and hammered it into the ground.

"I-I was getting to that.", Lenny insisted as he grabbed three more pegs, and began digging holes to put them in with his fingers.

"This looks like it's gonna get ugly.", Marina commented.

"Indeed.", Trunks nodded. "Especially since Lenny tends to think with his tail around women."

Stevie could tell none of the other Animen wanted to be there. "How about you three go and get us some firewood. We'll finish up here. Or try to."

"Good idea.", Tora decided, leading Marina and Trunks away by holding onto their shoulders. "Let's look for firewood. Now what exactly is firewood?"

A few minutes later, the three had managed to pick up a few logs, after Trunks had explained the concept of firewood, having read up on traditional camping beforehand. "We use these to light a fire that keeps us warm and allows us to cook food.", Trunks explained.

"But what do we do if it gets out of control and burns the whole forest down?", Marina asked.

"I assume we're supposed to put it out when we're done.", Tora suggested. "Even I can figure that…" She then interrupted herself to take a good look at a nearby mountain, resembling an axe. "Does that remind you guys of anything too?"

The two stepped up and saw the mountain for herself. "Yeah, it looks a lot like an axe.", Trunks noted. "But there's no way anyone on Earth sculpted something like that."

"More to the point, it looks… Cubalian.", Marina realised, before a noise filled her ears. "That sounds like… Bacteri. And they're nearby."

"We can put this on hold.", Trunks decided as they put the logs they had gathered down by a tree, before proceeding.

Soon enough, they saw the Bacteri were being led by Cuborg. "Looks like something big must be going down if one of their commanders has shown up.", Marina realised. "But what?"

"Try the fact that there's a Cubezord buried in this area, Blue Ranger." Marina was shocked to hear Cuborg had responded to her question. "You might as well come out of hiding. My enhanced audio receptors picked you up a while ago."

The three Rangers emerged from the bushes, walking onto the path. "How do you guys know there's a Cubezord here?", Tora asked. "You haven't even found our lair."

"I'm glad you asked.", Cuborg responded. "Thanks to the two instances in which you were under our control, we've recovered plenty of data on your White Tiger Zord. With that, we've ascertained the rough location of a Cubezord in this vicinity. My servant Mega Miner is currently going to be penetrating the crust of this mountain, to find the prize buried beneath."

"We're not going to let you do that.", Trunks stated, as he and the others took their Morphers out. "Let's Ranger Up!"

"Primal Instincts, Awaken!" The three took out their Morphers and transformed. But as they ran in, Trunks managed to get his foot stuck in a bear trap.

"Trunks? What happened?", Marina asked as she ran to try and help her friend, only for the two of them to get caught in a net.

Tora noticed this while slashing a Bacterus down. "Oh no." She turned and continued slashing the rest of the grunts.

"It seems that this planet's own hunters left behind some traps for me to use.", Cuborg commented, with a hint of smugness. "This should prove an ample distraction." He then turned and left.

Down at the campsite, Lenny and Johnny were still competing (unknowingly, in the latter's case) for Stevie, when a call came through. "Is that your phone?", Stevie asked Johnny.

"Yes, I think I'll answer it.", Johnny responded. "Lenny seems really eager to help." He walked off and picked up his Morpher. "Hello?"

"Johnny, we have a problem.", Tora called through, while continuing to slash through the Bacteri. "There's a Cubezord on this mountain. And I think the Hunters are digging to try and find it. But Trunks and Marina got caught in some metal teeth and a net respectively."

"Yes, Grizzly Mountain used to be filled with bears, and people trying to kill them for decoration.", Johnny responded. "Those must have been left behind. Finish up there, and get back here. Then we can plan something." He hung up and went over for Lenny. "We have a situation. As in, a down from the stars situation.", he whispered.

"I see.", Lenny nodded. "But for now, I'm in the middle of something. I'll get to it later." He then went back to trying to assemble the second tent.

A few minutes later, the other three, having defeated the Bacteri and picked their collected pieces of wood back up, were now making their way back, though Trunks was left limping. "Wow, the humans really have some effectively painful traps.", he wheezed as he walked on.

"Perhaps if you shifted back into your Animan form, you could heal.", Tora suggested. "After all, elephants have thicker hides than humans. And given how travelling through the portal device reset the Primal Morphers back into power enhancers, perhaps turning your DNA Cloak off would reset your body, as it were."

"I don't even know where to start with criticising that idea.", Trunks pointed out. "What if Stevie sees me change either way? Or sees me in my Animan form?"

"Do you really want to explain why you wandered into a bear trap?" , Marina asked him. "And besides, you'll only need to be yourself again for about a second. She won't see you."

"Alright then." Trunks thus reached into his mouth, removing his DNA cloak and reverting to his true form. "Ah, you were right. My leg is feeling better." He stood up and started stretching his leg. "A lot better in fac-." He soon saw that Stevie had wandered into the clearing, and was now staring at him. "Ah, hi."

Stevie promptly screamed at the sight.

Back in the camp, both Johnny and Lenny heard this. "That came from over there.", Johnny realised. "I'll go check it out."

But Lenny then pushed him aside. "Oh no. If Stevie's in trouble, then I'm gonna save her."

But before Lenny could get far, Johnny stopped him. "Hey! What was that for? Did you really push me out of the way just for some temporary glory."

"Oh I see. You want Stevie all to yourself, do you?", Lenny growled, before turning back into his Animan form. "Well I won't let you." He then pounced on Johnny, grappling with him.

Back in the woods, Tora was trying to calm Stevie down, while Marina help Trunks turn back into a human. "Listen, Stevie. You've just been hallucinating. I'm sure this kind of place does this thing to you." Trunks then successfully reinserted his DNA cloak, his disguise reasserting itself. "See, Trunks here is as human as you."

"R-right. He's human.", Stevie said as she gasped for breath. "I was probably just imagining it." She then turned around to see Johnny grappling with the Animan Lenny.

"I don't know what's gotten into you, Lenny.", Johnny called out, as he manifested his Chain Saber out of suit. "But I'm gonna tame you." He then used the sword as a whip to try and knock Lenny back, but the Animan dodged most of then, resulting in him only hitting the tree.

"What's going on here?" Both Johnny and Lenny then stopped to see Stevie walking up. "I know this isn't a hallucination. You're definitely using some kind of whip-sword thing to try and hit that lion man, who I assume is your friend Lenny, somehow having transformed into a lion man."

Trunks sighed. "Nice going, guys. We almost had her fooled about seeing me in my Animan form."

"I guess we'd better come clean.", Marina sighed, as she, Trunks and Tora removed their DNA cloaks. "All of us aren't human. Well, except for Johnny, but you probably knew that."

"Yeah, I can guess that he's at least a human.", Stevie said in response. She then turned back to Johnny. "Johnathan, what is going on here? 10 years ago, my fiancé vanished, and you, his younger brother, says he was abducted by a monster, and that you were saved from it by a bird man. And then after I leave to do some soul-searching, and come to terms with the fact you might've just imagined it from trauma, I come back and it turns out you've made friends with aliens who look like Earth animals."

"That - pretty much sums it up, Stephanie.", Johnny acknowledged. "I should also add that we're also the new group of Power Rangers that have shown up in Savannah City recently. And that the bird man at least is real."

"Well, I suppose that isn't that crazy.", Stevie nodded. "I mean, we do live in a world where aliens, robots, demons and mutants attack every year. I suppose it was only a matter of time until they showed up here. Especially with that large axe-shaped rock appearing near here, where my brother-in-law lived."

"Wait, you mean you two aren't… you know…?", Lenny asked, genuinely shocked. "I've basically wasted my day."

"Wait, you mean all of that incessant attempting to be useful was your way of trying to win me over?", Stevie asked. She then laughed. "Sorry to disappoint you, Lenny. But I'm still not over my last boyfriend vanishing into thin air, with the only hint as to what happened being that he got kidnapped by a monster."

Trunks then realised something. "Wait, did you say that the axe-shaped rock appeared out of nowhere?", he asked.

"Sure.", Stevie answered him. "Around 10 years ago, not long after Luke disappeared. That's Johnny's brother, in case he didn't mention it before. He's bad at using names with people he hasn't introduced to others yet."

"Then that means… Mega Miner is digging in the wrong area entirely.", Trunks realised. "All he's gonna do is destroy the mountain. And that might prove disastrous."

"We need to get up there.", Johnny nodded in agreement.

But Lenny stopped them from moving. "No. I've been causing nothing but trouble since we came here. So it's up to me to fix things. I'm going on ahead." He turned and started making his way up the mountain.

"Not without me, you're not.", Johnny called out as he set off running after him.

The other three however, stayed behind, since Marina and Tora were still carrying logs for the fire. "I suppose you'll want to use these to make a fire."

Up on the mountain, Mega Miner continued to drill. "Wow, this Zord must be buried pretty deep.", he commented. "I haven't had so much as a dink."

"Maybe because you're digging in the wrong area.", Lenny came running up and delivered a kick, that Mega Miner took, knocking him down. "The Cubezord isn't in this mountain."

"Really? Then where…?" Mega Miner took one look at the axe-shaped rock and realised. "Ah, so I was a little out in my coordinates. That don't matter. I just need to start again over there."

"You seem to have forgotten one thing.", Johnny said as he arrived on the scene. "We're going to stop you." He then took out his Morpher. "It's Morphin Time!"

He and Lenny then initiated their Morphing sequences. "Primal Instincts, Unleash!" In a flash, the two were transformed.

"So, you two were the Power Rangers, huh?", Mega Miner commented. "But don't think that means you bums have the advantage." He then engaged in hand-to-hand with Lenny, the two slapping at each other. Eventually, the monster managed to grab onto his opponent's hand. "I may be a labourer, but that don't mean I've not picked up a trick or two." He then kicked his opponent down against some rocks. "Now all I need to do is crack this mountain open and break open that rocky axe to recover the Cubezord that way."

"Don't bet against me.", Lenny insisted as he picked himself up and rolled into battle, trying and failing to do a spinning trick. "I'm a lion. Hear me roar." He tried going back to a scuffle, but Mega Miner managed to kick him against a wall, or rather a tree.

Mega Miner then threw him to the ground, before summoning his weapons. "Power Picks!" He summoned a pair of pickaxes, which he used to strike the ground, sending Lenny flying over a cliff. "You're next, Red."

Up in space, the beginning of the next battle was observed by Keldor and Cuborg. "I think I can guess what's gonna happen next.", Cuborg noted.

"Indeed.", Keldor nodded. He then took out his communicator. "Ignoblia, I think we might need a growth in the next few minutes."

In the Savannah Woods, Ignoblia received this communique as she was stood outside a cave. "Understood." She hung up and walked off. "I have all I need for my next plan right now."

Back on the mountain path, Trunks, Marina and Tora, en route to the peak, saw Lenny caught in a tree. "Looks like cats don't always land on their feet.", Marina commented. "Er, no offence Tora."

"None taken.", she commented. "Where's Johnny?"

"Still up there.", Lenny answered. "And we still need to deal with that drill, even if he's dealing with the maniac who put it in place."

"Got it.", Trunks nodded, as he used his Primal Saber to cut the branches down and allow Lenny to fall to the ground. "How are you feeling?"

"I think I've displaced a rib.", Lenny answered, as he pulled himself up.

"You'll live.", Trunks assured him. "Let's go."

At the peak, Johnny was barely managing to hold back against Mega Miner's onslaught, eventually being knocked down by his pickaxe attack. "Looks like everything I was told about you guys was wildly exaggerated.", Mega Miner commented. "You ain't a problem. You're a nuisance."

"Don't underestimate us.", Johnny insisted as he pulled himself up. "After all, you're only up against a total of 20% of the Power Rangers' full power. The rest has yet to arrive."

As if on cue, shots rang through the air, hitting Mega Miner back. It was the other 4 Rangers, now morphed and wielding their Primal Blasters. "Now's your chance, Johnny.", Lenny called out. "Take care of the drill."

"Right.", Johnny nodded as he flew over to the drill head, and transformed. "Primal Change: Gorilla!" With the extra power, Johnny was able to pull the drill head out of the Earth, and threw it into the air, where he unleashed a powerful punch that destroyed it. "Primal Punch!"

"No, all my hard work ruined!" Mega Miner lamented, before Lenny threw him down to lower on the mountain, after which he and Johnny leapt down to confront the Hunter.

"Hey, Lenny.", Johnny said as he pulled Lenny to standing position. "Sorry about the misunderstanding before. I should've filled you in on the details."

"It's alright.", Lenny said as he and Johnny high-fired. "I realise I should've been fighting with my friends, not against them."

The other three then joined them. "Try not to leave us behind next time.", Trunks complained. "This isn't easy to trek, even as Rangers."

"Sorry about that.", Lenny said as he walked forward. "But now, we can work together to take this guy down."

It was then that Mega Miner pulled himself up. "Looks like I'll have to go all out after all.

"Let's see just how all out you can go when we have you outnumbered.", Marina stated.

"Because we rendered all of your Bacteri spent beforehand.", Tora added.

The battle between Mega Miner and the Rangers then began in earnest. He tried swinging his picks to his opponents, but all of them were agile enough to dodge out of the way. Johnny then delivered a punch that the Hunter barely blocked, followed by similar hits from Trunks, Marina and Tora. The latter two gave Mega Miner a chance to hit two at once. "You shouldn't get too close to a hazard zone. By which I mean me."

He then summoned up thunder and threw it at Lenny, who used his own power up morph to block. "Primal Mode, Unleashed!" Lenny then stepped back to unleash his attack. "Lion-tning Slash!" This thunder managed to hit Mega Miner head-on, weakening him.

"Good job.", Johnny said as he reverted to his basic Morph. "Primal Reversion: Eagle!" He then pulled out his Primal Blaster. "Guys, let's end this freak."

"Right.", everyone said as they surrounded Mega Miner with their own Primal Blasters. They all proceeded to launch shots at the monster while running around him.

They then coalesced their blasts into one. "Primal Fury Wild Blast!"

The force of this attack knocked Mega Miner onto his knees. "Hey, this seems like a hard hat battle.", he moaned.

"Savage Sabers!" The Rangers then transformed their weapons to prepare for another final attack. "Wild Fury Claw Strike!" The 5 merged into a claw, with Lenny being the middle digit this time, as they slashed down Mega Miner.

"Too many violations!", Mega Miner cried out as he exploded in front of the Rangers.

It was then that Ignoblia made her appearance. "A worker who isn't dedicated to his job? How thoughtless." She then inserted the growth coin into Mega Miner's chest. "Your break's over, Mega Miner. Now deal with the Rangers."

As she teleported out, Mega Miner grew to giant size. "Look at me. I'm as big as a crane!", he called out.

The Rangers weren't at all shocked by this development, instead sticking to the by now tried and tested formula. "Cubezords, enlarge!" The 5 main Zords made their appearance as giants, combining with the other three in the Rangers' possession. "Jungle Beast Megazord, ready!"

"Hey you, this is an area off limits to annoying pests.", Mega Miner declared at the Jungle Beast.

"Like you?", Lenny asked.

"Let's take this guy out.", Johnny suggested as he summoned the control weapon, with the Jungle Beast manifesting the Savage Saber.

It soon clashed with Mega Miner and his picks briefly, before the Hunter took to dodging the sword. "Time for my other speciality besides digging: demolition!" He then fired beams from both of his picks, buffeting the Jungle Beasts and its pilots.

Soon, the Savage Saber fell out of their hands. "That's not good.", Tora realised. "Aside for the sword, our headdress is our only other weapon. And that would kind of ruin the look."

"Perhaps not.", Trunks realised. "Remember what Stevie said about that axe-shaped rock appearing 10 years ago?"

"The same point in time that the Cubezords were scattered.", Marina realised. "You think the rock is one?"

"Time for me to make the final strike in the dirt.", Mega Miner stated as he marched forward.

"Well, I think we're out of options.", Lenny decided. "Let's try the axe."

In a split second, the Jungle Beast moved to pick up the axe-shaped rock, using it to defend themselves. This caused the rock to begin glowing. "See, I knew it.", Trunks stated. "The 9th Cubezord is ours for the taking." The rock then fractured open to reveal another axe, with a handle that featured the head of a bear.

"Hey! No fair!", Mega Miner growled. "I was supposed to get that Zord and you guys just pick it up like that."

"It's not just any Zord.", Johnny stated. "Mega Miner, meet the Bear Zord." Using their new weapon, the Jungle Beast was able to knock Mega Miner's picks out of his hand, before knocking him to the floor with two more blows.

"Let's see what this grizzly can do on his own.", Lenny decided, motioning the Jungle Beast to throw the weapon away, initiating its transformation into the Bear Zord. It then spun around to slash at Mega Miner while down, before returning to cube form to crush him. It then returned to its Bear Axe mode.

"Time to cut this short.", Johnny decided, as he inserted his Morpher into the control weapon.

"Jungle Beast Bear Strike!" By its controllers' command, the Jungle Beast sent the now sparking Bear Axe onto Mega Miner, fatally wounding him.

"That axe isn't regulation!", Mega Miner cried out as he collapsed and died, his body immolating.

"Top of the food chain!", the Rangers said as they celebrated.

From the sides, Ignoblia had observed everything. "So, the Rangers found another Zord, hmm? I'll let them keep it. For soon, the opportunity will arise for me to take all of them will arise." She then teleported away.

Later on, the Rangers met back up with Stevie down at the campsite. "I suppose it's not fair that we went up without you.", Lenny told her.

"Don't worry, you did what you had to in order to save the world.", Stevie assured him. "And I saw you guys turn that axe rock into one of your… Zords, was it?"

"That's right.", Johnny assured her, as he presented the cube form of the Bear Zord. "It must've scanned one of the bears that used to live around here, before they went extinct."

"Speaking of things that 'live around here'.", Stevie said in response, before taking out some paperwork. "While you were up there fighting evil, I went online and decided to renew the lease on my old apartment. Thankfully, no-one bought it while I was out of the country."

Tora spat out the bottle of water she was drinking. "Wait, so does that mean-?"
