Brett applied an appropriate bandage and cast on Michael. The cast wrapped around his transformation arm and he had clean white bandages wrapped around his mid chest.
"What the hell was all that?" Michael said staring at the ground.
Everyone remained silent as they looked at the ground except for Tobias who was staring out the window of Brett's small living room.
"He has the Power Cube. With that I highly doubt the Triassic Form is going to be able to do anything."
"Does this mean no matter what we do we are now bound to lose? How are we to fight against something like this? When I put my shield up to protect everyone I could tell that even my most powerful form isn't enough to fight back. What do I do now…?" Tobias thought to himself.
Apparently Michael had gotten everyone's attention except Tobias as they had all gotten into a conversation.
"…I also would like to know this whole relationship thing as well. Austin, Mesogog, and Brett are all relatives?! That's the crazy part." Michael said holding his waist with his other hand.
"I'm honestly as shocked as you guys are." Brett said speechless afterwards.
"It kind of feels like an anime. Mesogog just became all powerful but unlike an anime this is real, we can't hope to stand up against something that is omnipotent with just our power." Xander said in a feared state.
"On top of that our chances just dropped significantly because Michael is injured and it's going to take a couple weeks for him to even fully recover. Like how much more time do we have until Mesogog strikes? We are powerless right now and injured. Let alone not in the right state of mind. We are just fish in a pond with a predator sleeping nearby. How do we fight back against something like this?" Zach said adding to the conversation.
"He beheaded Austin with just a whip of his veins. What shocks me is Austin was turned back into a human. I though he died so what really happened?" Brett wondered.
"What do you mean by that?" Michael asked.
"I found a video of him dying I can think of the fact that his spirit was attached to the cube but his human body should've been disposed of. So why did it show up in front of us just moments ago?" Brett asked.
Tobias had an idea as he quickly turned around.
"The video." He said with everyone staring at him.
"What are you talking about?" Zach asked.
"Austin gave you access to the video that would explain everything. I remember Brett you told me you saw the secret report of what we needed to know after us Power Rangers had gathered. But what if the report you read was only half true and half untrue? He gave you knowledge to get to the video that would explain everything? He only gave out some of the information to be easily accessed but kept the real one hidden." He suggested.
"Wait a minute Tobias, are you saying that Austin purposely falsified information to keep something bigger a secret?" Xander asked.
"This sounds like a retcon to a story." Michael said.
"We need to access that computer. If we want to take down Mesogog it is best to know what we are fighting against. Knowledge is power. Let's head to the computer and finally learn the history of Austin and Mesogog." Tobias said with hope in his voice.
Everyone made their way to the computer and as Brett sat down images flashed through his mind of his key to his morpher. He pulled out the key and opened the blade out as a slot in the giant computer opened up as a red light scanned the key. "Okay that's new." He said as he inserted the key into the exposed slot.
"Access Granted. Authorizing. DNA confirmed. Welcome Brett Pappert. Opening simulations please stand still."
A giant flash of light covered the entire room as the Power Rangers vanished when the light disappeared. The Rangers were now taking back through time to see how everything began.
-70 YEARS AGO-
A white man in a dirty white shirt and brown worn out pants had a bag of food as he stumbled through the marbled streets of a slum part of town. He came upon a hut with rocks. He had been working hard in the fields growing crops on the outskirts of Germany. The small family had been here for a few months escaping Adolf Hitler who was trying to exterminate all Jewish folk. Very few were able to make it out. The family consisted of one male child, one mother of the kid, the husband who the one was holding the food, and his little brother. The child was only 6 years old and was suffering from an illness and if not treated wouldn't live much longer. The little child name was Lucas, the wife's name was Aviva. The husband was Benjamin and the little brother was Ezra, who was 20 years old. The family had lost two of their children. One a 15 years old with the other a 12 year old in their escape, both were males.
Benjamin approached the wooden raggedy door as he did a special knock to let his family know that he was here and was alone. Ezra opened the door quickly and got Benjamin in. Ezra had ripped up clothes heavily stained. A blue faded shirt and ripped up pants. His face was a mess with an uncontrolled beard growing all over his face and bags under his eyes from lack of sleep. He held out his hand that was shaking and you could see his veins and dried out skin.
"Did you get the medicine?" Ezra asked.
Benjamin reached into his pocket as pulled out a liquid bottle filled with medicine that was needed to help out Lucas's illness. "This was hard to get. The place is swarming with Nazis looking for Jews. It's not even just Jews, but us specifically." Benjamin said. He reached into the bag and pulled out a small loaf of bread and handed it to his brother. "Here eat. We all need to get out energy somehow. We will have to relocate tomorrow. We are going to escape from this side of the world." He suggested.
"You really think we can make it to America? With everything going on?" Ezra said.
"We are going to have to try. Anywhere is better than here. I'm hoping this medicine will help Lucas so we can get him better care. According to what I found out this will greatly help lower the fever at least but it's not going to get rid of the problem. At best we won't have to carry him when he collapses and we'll be able to take fewer stops."
"What about your wife? Do you think she'll make it?" Ezra asked.
Benjamin looked down at the ground, he knew she wouldn't but refused to accept that. "She'll be fine. I picked up some medicine for her as well." He said as he began walking into the tiny kitchen area and placed the bag of goods down.
"I don't like we are stealing and sneaking around. It's wrong." Ezra said.
"I don't like it either but we are wanted and we can't trust anyone. We will need to rest up for another four hours but after that when darkness falls on the land we will need to march forward on. We can't rest easy. I have a friend just 30 miles ahead of us that will provide a ride for us to get across the countries as well as provide shelter, food, and rest on our journey. We just need to get there." Benjamin said.
A small child walked into the kitchen as he began coughing and falling to the ground heaving. Benjamin ran to his side as he lifted him off the ground. He asked what he was doing up as Lucas struggling to speak pointed at the dripping water from the sink. Benjamin set him down on the chair and walked over and got him a glass. He got a tiny glass and poured some of the liquid medicine into it as he instructed Lucas to drink.
"This is going to help you feel better Lucas." Benjamin assured.
The area around Lucas's eyes was red and the color on his face was not looking well as he had sweat pouring down his face. He was really skinny wearing his pajama pants that had holes and tears in it. When he began drinking his medicine and water he turned around and hugged his father. He held onto him as tight as he could with tears running down his face.
"Those damn Nazis did a number on your son. I wish we were strong enough to kill every single—" Ezra was cut off by Benjamin.
"Not a damn word! Can you stop being so negative? We all got enough going on right now I'd like to have less negative and more positive thoughts right now for once!" Benjamin roared.
Ezra punched the wall as he was angry for what was going on.
"Lucas go back to bed okay. We are going to have to move again in a few hours and I'd like you to get as much as rest as possible." Benjamin said.
Lucas let go as he stared at his father and slightly nodded as he walked back rubbing his dreary eyes.
The poor child stumbled back to the bedroom and Benjamin couldn't help but feel somewhat guilty for what his family is going through. Ezra put his hand on his brother's shoulder. "We'll fix this Ben, I swear it."
"Yeah I just wish things were different. I feel like I'm losing everything around me." Benjamin said as he began portioning out the rations he stole. He gave half a loaf of bread to Ezra and a piece of fruit and then went over to grab some bags as he placed a loaf of bread in each one with a couple of apples and tied them up. He was left with one whole loaf of bread and 2 apples along with some bottles of water. He put one of the water bottles in his pocket and one to his brother. He looked at the leftover rations.
"How are you going to split up the rations to last us throughout the day tomorrow? With how it is one person will have to go without food." Ezra said.
"I will." Benjamin replied.
"You're crazy. Right now you're stronger than the rest of us. If things go south we'll have to rely on you so I think you should get at least something out of this." Ezra said.
"Not an option. My family comes first right now before myself. You guys are the weak ones and my son and wife are sick. They will need their energy in order to get through this. I will gladly give up my health if it means that my loved ones can get better. I'll be fine to walk 30 miles. I'll eat in two days from now." He responded.
"I wish I went with you but my legs are weak and I can't move as quickly as you. If this wasn't the issue we could've gotten back with more food." Ezra said beating himself up.
"Let's not think about what could've happened and worry about what's going on right now little brother." Benjamin said.
Benjamin grabbed a knife from the drawer and held it defensively. "You guys get some sleep. I'm going to keep watch for any Nazis. If I notice anything I'll wake you guys up." Ezra walked into the room where Lucas was as he laid down next to him and Benjamin stared out the window and into the darkness of the town. His reflection in the mirror you could tell that he was determined to keep his family safe.
A few hours passed and Benjamin had not moved from his spot. He was sitting in a chair extremely quiet and very attentive to his surroundings. Midnight was close at hand and he could feel the town around him finally quieting down.
"I should wash my face really quick we'll be moving out soon." He said under his breath.
He cleaned all of the smut off his face and then walked over to wake up his family. The wife was messed up looking like them wearing a blue ruffled one piece with raggedy hair and marks all over her face.
"Honey is that you?" She said weakly.
"Come on we have to move." Benjamin said.
Everyone got up and made their way out the front door each holding a bag of the portioned food.
"Darling where is your food?" Aviva asked.
"I'll be fine, my family is more important than myself right now."
As Benjamin and the others turned to walk down the dark road a person approached them draped in all yellow garments and a face mask that covered almost everything but the eyes. A swastika in white was draped over the mouth piece.
"Benjamin something doesn't feel right." Ezra cautioned.
The person held out their hand towards them. "Return the red stone and make it quick. Do so and I won't report you Jews to my masters. Hurry and give it before they get here and vanish into the night quickly." The yellow masked person said with a female voice.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Benjamin said with a bit of worry in his voice.
"I saw you steal the red stone earlier when you stole the food in your bags. My masters will kill everyone in this village to find it. Jew or not. I don't know what you plan on doing with it but are you willing to hold onto it knowing that many will die if it's not returned?" She said.
"Brother did you really take something from them?" Ezra asked.
Benjamin hesitated but then reached into his pocket and pulled out a red stone that had a tinted glow the moment it was exposed.
"It can't be…The stone chose you to use the little power it has?" The woman said as her outstretched arm fell to her side.
"It's how I was able to steal the food without being seen. I had moments of little burst of speed for two seconds and then I had to wait two seconds to use it again. But it was quite helpful. I was going to give this stone up for money when I got to my destination so I can heal my wife and son that are horribly sick. I'm not going to give up this stone and I'm greatly aware of the consequences of my actions, but I need to put my family first. But not like you monsters who wear the Swastika so proudly would ever understand what that means. All you know is how to kill and dominate." Benjamin said.
The woman in yellow reached on the side of her face and removed the mouth piece of her mask.
"I would know everything about family…Benjamin Appert." The woman said who had a thin jawline and a white colored face that stood out from the Apperts.
"Ava Reinhard?" Ezra said surprised.
"I thought you were dead when all of this started?" Benjamin asked.
"I was supposed to be. Out of my family of six my daughter is all that is left. She's being held as collateral for my services to the Fuhrer's special forces which only consists of me and a guy in blue." She said.
"Why would you work for him?" Ezra asked.
"For the safety of my little sister's protection. In this hellish nightmare we are all we have left. I'm a coward if anything else. Trust me I'm not fond of the leash that hangs around my throat." Ava said.
She outstretched her hand again.
"I'm not giving it to you Ava." Benjamin said.
"It's already too late for me to try and save you now." She said as men from the darkness approached behind her.
"Oho Ava good job on not just finding the stone but finding the family of runaways that got away the other day. You're instructions are too kill them and retrieve the stone back. Fuhrer has given permission for this specific group of people to be executed." A soldier in captain's uniform with a swastika armband hanging ordered with a sword at his hip and a gun on his back.
Ava reached for her mask as she covered up her face again.
"Know this Benjamin. I tried to save you." She said as she began charging at him.
She reached in her pocket and grabbed a knife that was kept sheathed. She leapt into the air as she came to stab at Ezra first to take him out. Benjamin put both his hands up and blocked the attack but as he did powerful sound vibrations erupted from the sheathed weapon as it force broke the guard. Ava hit the knife onto the ground and a burst of sound sent the family flying backwards and landing on the ground.
"What the hell was that?!" Ezra said as Benjamin got back up off the ground.
"I don't know but it caused my arms to be weakened when I tried to block." Benjamin said.
Ava pulled out a yellow stone as it too was glowing, "These stones provide some type of properties that only the stones choose who can wield them. Mine emits sound vibrations like a scream that I can use every time I hit something with an object. Just like yours allows you a small burst of speed. If I slice you with just the blade the power is enough to shatter your bones. My advice to you is not to get hit." Ava said to him.
"Everyone stay back I'll take her down." Benjamin said as he took a fighting stance.
"You've got to be crazy! She'll kill you!" Ezra said.
"Not if she can't hit me." Benjamin said as he squeezed the red stone in his fist.
He ran towards Ava as she leapt back into the air. She unsheathed the blade and threw the sheath at him as a distraction. Benjamin slapped the sheath away and right when the blade was a fingernail away, Benjamin sped to her side as he did a right hook into her thigh knocking her to the ground. Ava rolled on the ground and got back up as she charged at him doing a variety of slashes as Benjamin dodged every one of them. He bent to the ground and did a sweeping leg kick but Ava jumped up into the air and came to stab him with the knife. Benjamin sped again as he did a rising uppercut into her jaw before speeding again and shoving her to the ground. He looked up as the guards drew out their guns and got close as they pointed it to his face.
"You fight well. Fortunately for you since the stone chose you, you will need to come with us and be part of the Special Forces Fuhrer Hitler has set together." The captain said.
"And if I don't?" Benjamin asked.
"I think that should be obvious." The captain said to him. He snapped his fingers as a group of Nazis showed up and restrained the family behind him each with a knife to their throats.
Benjamin was placed in a predicament as his child began to freak out.
"LET THEM GO! THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH!" Benjamin roared out.
"Say yes and they will be let go, or watch as they die one by one." The captain said.
The child was shaking and having a breakdown and Aviva saw this as she quickly grabbed the hand and pulled the knife away followed up by biting into her captor's wrists causing him to drop the knife. She ran to her ailing son and a bullet pierced her skull. She fell to the ground as blood came running down the side of her head. The child froze in shock as his body stopped shaking and stared at the mother that laid dead on the soil ground.
"YOU FUCKING MONSTERS!" Ezra said.
Benjamin gripped his stone as hard as he could as he gathered enough speed to run, pick up the knife, and stab the other two captors in the back of the head before his power gave out. He dropped the knife as he picked up his son and turned his face away from his mother. The child was shaken out of his shock as he began a distorted crying. Ezra picked up a gun and pointed it at the captain.
"I'll murder all of you shit holes!" He said as he went to pull the trigger. A man dressed in blue got in front of the captain as his fists were encased in a blue skin and placed them up to take the bullet. The bullet fell to the ground as Ezra was shocked to see the speed the guy had to get in front of the captain.
"I'll kill you too if you don't get out of the way!" Ezra said with tears running down his face.
"You're more likely to try." The man in blue said with a hoarse voice.
Ezra fired out another shot as the bullet just bounced off his hands. The man in blue got close as Benjamin dashed forward with his new power but as he got in the way of the two, the man in blue reeled his hand back and slammed it into Benjamin's side before spinning in the air and locked his legs around Benjamin's throat. He tightened his leg muscles instantly blacking out his opponent before he got up off the ground. Ezra took the back of the gun and went to hit him but the man put his hands up to block the strike which caused a major dent in the gun.
"You've got to be kidding me!?" Ezra said before the man in blue spun around and kicked him across the side of his face hard enough to knock him out. Lucas began freaking out as the man walked up to him.
"I wish not to bring harm to a child. Especially to my daughter's best friend, but I need to have you be quiet so I will do something that will be painless." He said as the blue skin vanished and he hand chopped the back of Lucas's head knocking him out.
"Good work. Now you two bring the kid and the two men to the carts. Bind their hands, take the red stone, and lock them up." The captain said.
"You didn't have to kill the mother." The man in blue said.
"The wench was going to die anyway. If anything I did that bug a service." The captain said.
"She could've been cured given the right treatment. Her life could've been spared." The man in blue responded.
"Keep talking and your daughter will look worse than that. I'll have her placed in the firing squad pumped with so much bullets you wouldn't be able to recognize her face. Remember for the safety of your family members you guys swear loyalty and servitude to us Nazis. Be glad you two, possibly three are the only ones being spared and only because those gems you hold gave you the power to protect Fuhrer Hitler. Otherwise your lives will be like the bitch on the ground over there." The captain said.
Ava walked over and picked up Lucas, "Let me take him Jordan." She said to the man in blue.
"You were always attached to Lucas. I'll leave him to you." Jordan said as he activated his powers and picked up both Ezra and Benjamin and did as he was instructed. Ava held Lucas with her arms supporting his back and hind legs. She looked down at him as he looked for once in peace.
"I'm so sorry you have to be dragged into this nightmare. Jordan and I will do everything to try and keep you, your dad, and your uncle safe." Ava said.
"Going to be hard to keep that promise when we are so bound to protect our own first Ava. I know you're maternal instincts are saying that but you must know at the end you may never be able to uphold that promise." Jordan said.
"It's so hard not to. You and I both saw Lucas like a son of ours honey." Ava replied back.
"I don't like that we are just dogs to that scum. I'm hoping whoever becomes the super soldier that Hitler desires has some senses to go on a full scale takedown. My hope is to have that person kill Hitler and we can all wipe out the rest of the Nazi forces." Jordan said.
"You are my husband if you believe in that then I do too." Ava said as she stared down at Lucas stroking his cheek.
A few days had gone by and Benjamin woke up in a cell with chains sticking out from the walls and cuffs on his wrists and ankles. "Where am I?" He wondered as he looked around the damp cold room. He saw a door with a bit of light reaching in as a sound of the door unlocking was made. Jordan and Ava in their outfits walked in the cell and behind them was Lucas who was in better health. Jordan closed the door as he and Ava removed their masks and sat down on the ground in front of Benjamin.
"Jordan?" Benjamin asked.
Lucas ran up and hugged his father and Benjamin looked down at him.
"Daddy! I missed you!" Lucas said with a better sounding voice.
"My son…You're looking a lot healthier." Benjamin said with a tear down his face.
"I must've hit you pretty hard. You've been out for three days. "Jordan said.
"You've always had this problem at controlling yourself in fighting." Benjamin chuckled.
"None of this should've happened to anyone. The Nazis are out there killing Jews left and right." Ava said.
"Why are we being left alive?" Benjamin asked.
"The stones. Hitler is trying to create a super human that will end the war and help him be effective in controlling the world. The stones are to help him stop the super human if he decides to go rogue. The stones are said to seal the super human and the power the stones give us can help us be on fighting grounds if need be, but only long enough to seal whoever it's going to be." Jordan explained.
"The stones came from a much bigger stone that everyone is calling the Power Cube. Hitler found it recently and it produced three colored stones which are the ones we all have. Nobody knows where this Cube came from but it has helped Hitler become vastly powerful and now he thinks he can take on the world. He's been transferring energy from the Cube to help create a type of serum that can make one into a super being which is what he wants. He had some forewarning about what could happen and he knows how to seek out who will be the best candidate for the serum. The person is brought to the Cube and has to place their hands on it. If the Cube lights up then that person will be subjugated to the experiment. So far he's had a few candidates but they have all died to the experimentation process. He's tried using his own men that were up to the task but they have died as well." Ava said.
"We are currently forced to be protectors of Hitler until the war is over. Once the war has been won Hitler claims he will let us be free but how can we if he wants to kill every Jew. Doesn't anyone find it funny that out of all the people to be protectors it's us Jewish people who are his guardians." Jordan said.
"You mentioned something about being forced and your family. Is he using your family as collateral?" Benjamin asked.
"Yes he has been very cunning on making us commit. This hasn't been very easy on us either. We've been forced to kill our friends and others. Not a day goes by where we don't writhe in agony over the horrible things we've done." Ava said.
"Just a heads up you'll more likely be joining us the red stone chose you to use its power. That makes you exceptionally valuable. But if you choose to deny then you will be forced to watch your brother and son be slowly killed. They have ways of forcing you to submit and consent." Jordan said.
"I'm not going to work for that monster." Benjamin said.
"If you value the life of your remaining family and safety then you will have too. Hitler can take the things we value as treasures and use them as a weapon against us." Ava explained.
"'You will be put through a trial in front of Hitler by the end of the day. We will be bringing you food to get your strength back. Ava and I will be present to protect him. You will be given your stone then and will have to show what you can do so he sees for himself that the stone chooses you. From there on Lucas and Ezra will be given better treatment and recovery until the creation of the super soldier. We have a plan on being able to turn the tides of everything once the super soldier is created and we are immediately told who the candidates are as to keep eyes on them. So we might be able to coerce them into joining our cause." Jordan explained.
"Please help us your super speed will be beneficial in all of this." Ava asked.
Benjamin looked at Lucas who had a scared look on his face.
"Daddy…You're not going to do anything bad are you?" He asked with an innocent tone in his voice.
"I have to protect my family and if I can I'll make this bastard pay for what he's done to the lives of everyone including my wife. I'm going to end his life and I'll be there to watch it be taken away from him. I'm not going to run away anymore." Benjamin decided as he looked up at the Ava and Jordan. "If it means to kill that man I'll do anything. I'll join and we'll make the Nazis and their Fuhrer ever regret starting this nightmare in the first place."
Benjamin was able to get food and recover most of his strength throughout the day. Prior to seeing Hitler, he was given a shower and the red uniform with the red face mask that had the swastika symbol over the mouth piece. Jordan was helping him get his uniform on.
"Why is the swastika on the mouth piece?" Benjamin asked.
"It is to show that we have sworn by mouth loyalty to the cause. As sickening as it is, as long as the mouth piece is covering our mouths we are basically not permitted to speak. We are to be silent as possible and should we be allowed to speak we are to remove the face mask covering the mouth. We are no more than dogs and we are in need to be treated as such." Jordan said.
"This is greatly humiliating." Benjamin responded.
"I just heard word that they might've found another candidate. When I find out who I'll keep you informed. Until then don't do anything reckless and keep your head down. Remember we are doing this to achieve a higher goal." Jordan reminded him.
"Yes I know. The death of Hitler." Benjamin responded.
After saying that Benjamin placed the face mask on and walked out into a glorious looking hallway with a red carpet and as he and Jordan walked they met up with Ava who all approached a giant door. Inside was a row of Nazi soldiers and Hitler sitting in a chair with a sword sheathed lying up against his glorious wooden chair. Ava and Jordan approached the steps leading up to Hitler as they turned around and faced Benjamin. In the middle of this room was a red circular carpet with a wooden stand. In the middle of the stand was the red stone and Hitler spoke up.
"I hear you're power from the stone is that of enhanced speed. Approach the stone and show me what this speed is capable of. You're test is to reach me with that speed while fighting off Yellow and Blue in front of you with their powers. Pass this trial and you will be my Red. Fail and you will be killed along with that of the rest of your family plague." Hitler said.
Benjamin made a quick dash to the stone without saying a word and the moment he grabbed the stone Ava met with him as she had her sheath slam onto the table missing Benjamin with his quick reactions. The table shattered into pieces from the sound and Jordan was already behind him ready to strike. Benjamin clutched the stone as it began to glow and he quickly spun his entire body around and slammed a punch into Jordan's gut before running the same hand up to his throat. He grabbed his thigh and spun him around chucking him into Ava. Jordan rolled off of Ava as Benjamin turned to Hitler and the stone began glowing again. Right before he took a step forward a chain wrapped around his leg causing him to fall as Ava began tugging him towards him on the ground. Jordan leapt into the air as he came down to punch Benjamin into submission. Benjamin quickly lifted his entrapped foot sending Ava towards him as he kicked her in the face and then rolled to his side to avoid the attack. Benjamin then super speed his roll back as he punched Jordan into his side. Benjamin kicked his leg in a way to have the chain wrap around Jordan's throat. He removed the other chain off his leg and wrapped it around Jordan with very little force to cut off a bit of his oxygen. He then had Jordan stand up and as his opponent was fighting for breath he shoved him to the side and tapped into his super speed as he was now in front of Hitler. Once he got there, he was met with Ava standing in front of him with her arms stretched out.
"That's enough." Hitler said.
The guards all held their guns up pointed at the three waiting to shoot if any of them decided to get thoughts of attacking.
"Congratulations Benjamin. You are now the leader of the Special Forces. You have shown promise in your fighting and ruthlessness. You will no longer be living in that dungeon of a cell and will bunker with the others in a room. You will return to your quarters and wait for your next mission." Hitler said as he got up and left the room.
Benjamin was clenching his fists as he had planned to try and kill Hitler where he stood.
"He took it as an act but I was really going to aim for that throat of his. I was hoping to super speed where I could make a vital cut." Benjamin thought.
Ava and Jordan placed their hands on each shoulder of Benjamin.
"We are still not trusted enough. So if we are ever in a room with Hitler there are going to be guns pointed at us ready to fire without hesitation if they even see us try to kill him. Take a look at your feet." Ava said.
Benjamin looked down to see a thick black line about three feet away from him.
"A marker?!" Benjamin gasped.
"The moment either of us step over that line the guards in the ceiling open fire on all of us. Do you honestly think even with your speed you are going to even survive especially since you only have two seconds?" Jordan said.
"Don't ever try and put yourself or all of us in danger like that again. Think about your family that thing you are so proud of protecting before making a reckless decision like this again." Ava said to him.
The two walked out of the room and back to their bunkers as Benjamin slammed his fists onto the ground. "I got reckless. My friends are right. I need to be careful and control my rage." Benjamin said as he went back to his bunker with his teammates.
A few days went by as Jordan and Ava were in a gym sparring with each other. Benjamin was placed on a duty where he was to check out a village if there was Jews hiding and was escorted by an elite commander. During the raid on a family of Jews Benjamin overheard a few fellow Nazis talking about a camp.
"Hitler is having all of the Jews rounded up at a camp in Auschwitz." One said.
"A bunch of plague filled scum gathered in one spot? I'd say let's open season and rid the world of this plague." The other said chuckling.
"Do you really think that this candidate for the super human is going to really back up the Fuhrer?" The first one said.
"Kind of surprising that he just willing put himself up for the challenge the filthy Jew actually thinks that he can survive? We've had dozen other Jews try and fail. I think this one is going to suffer just as they did." The second Nazi said.
"What was the dirty scoundrel name? Erza? No Ezra? Yeah Ezra. He looks tough but he'll be groveling on the floor for death in no time."
Benjamin's eyes widened as he heard this news.
"Why is Ezra offering himself up to the experimentation?!" Benjamin thought.
"Hey Red! You're up this is the last house in the village check it and see if there are Jews hidden in here and head back." The first Nazi commanded.
Benjamin approached the door as he kicked it down as hard as he could. He moved inside with a dagger in one hand and his red stone clenched in the other. "This is my first mission and I need to carry out successfully." Benjamin said as he began searching the rooms. He came across nothing but empty spaces with every search and every door he swung open…Except one. He heard what sounded like a child sneezing and came across a room in the back of the house. He grabbed the door handle and slowly opened it to see two kids with their hands over their mouths sitting in front of a sick female who had erratic breathing. Benjamin's eyes widened. "I might've just talked big but I was hoping while searching I wouldn't run into anyone." He thought as he saw the lying mother on a cot. All of her color was leaving her body and Benjamin knew she wasn't going to make it out alive.
"Are you here to help mommy get better?" A child no older than six said.
"She can't move." Another child that looked like was seven years old said.
Both kids were females and had marks all over their body and looked pale.
"There's no way I can save these three. They are all going to die." Benjamin said as his mind was running wild.
"Red! Anybody in this house?" The commander said.
Benjamin's hands were shaking as he tried to think of a way to get the kids away. But he knew if he could save them their mother would be killed either way. "What do I do? How do I handle this situation?!" He thought in fear of the future of these children. "It was one thing to just leave the country and have these futures be taken away because I wouldn't see it. But now I'm forced to be put in the situation where I have to take the life or face my family's life and possibly mine to be taken. Survival instincts say to end theirs but my heart says otherwise. This isn't right I'm not a monster. If I kill these three I'm no different than the Nazis I hate so much." Benjamin said.
Footsteps got closer and the commander was right behind Benjamin as he placed his hands on his shoulders. "Ah I see you found some. I'll kill the mother and you take care of the children." The commander said.
"Wait they are defenseless. They aren't going to bring any harm to anyone. The mother is practically dying." Benjamin said coming to the defense.
"Last I checked you aren't to speak with your face mask over your mouth. You are to follow directions or we slay your family along with you. Also keep in mind if one member of this task force doesn't cooperate the lives of your comrades also are forfeited. Kill the children and we can wrap it up here." The commander said as he pointed his gun at the sick mother's head. The kids were stricken with fear as they began crying and sobbing. Benjamin zoned out for a second and then heard the gunshot as a bullet went clean through the mother's skull leaving a hole in the wall next to her corpse. The oldest child out of fear ran towards the commander with a wooden handle in hand. As the child rose it up to swing a bullet went through her chest and into the other child's leg behind her.
The child fell to the ground with blood pouring out as the commander yanked the knife out of Benjamin's hand and walked up to the child on the ground.
"If you can't kill a defenseless child then I'll do it myself. Jews are nothing more than a plague that needs to be killed. Once we are done here I'll be reporting to Hitler about your insolence and the death of your family and comrades will be over." He said as he pinned the child to the ground.
Benjamin's legs began shaking as he watched the knife get raised.
"Stop it…" He said with a quivering voice.
The child began screaming in great despair and fear as the knife pierced the shoulder. Benjamin saw the blood and his stone began glowing as he shoved the commander from behind sending him flying into the wall leavings cracks around his body. Benjamin had gotten his knife back in his hand as he lodged it into the commander's throat and left his body hanging there. The child was in a lot of pain as the other Nazi soldier quickly entered the room. His gun pointed at Benjamin. Benjamin stared down the barrel of the gun.
"What happened here?!" the soldier roared out.
"Two seconds are up." Benjamin said. He clenched the stone as hard as he could as he tapped into his speed and in one second was behind the soldier whose throat had a line form and blood began running down it. The soldier fell to the floor as Benjamin picked up the child. The bullet was sticking a bit out as he began looking for tweezers and in a few seconds pulled out the bullet. The child was losing blood and fast as she had tears running down her face. Benjamin rushed to get bandages and first aid but when he got back, the child had already died and her body moved a bit with her arm stretched out to her older sister whose body was just a couple inches away from her hand.
Benjamin fell to his knees as he began breaking down in tears. He cried over the body of the child he tried to save and the pain he felt wouldn't go away as he stayed in that house for a short while as the consequences of his actions began to scar every part of his mind.
