Chapter 30

"Alright, Coumarine City, here we come!" Serena cheers as we are on our way, we find that Serena sure is pumped up.

"I guess you're ready for the Pokemon Showcase, aren't you?" Elline chuckles.

"You bet! I'm so totally excited, I can hardly wait to get there." Serena says, but after a while, she is tired and she mutters, "Oh, no. I'm so exhausted I can hardly wait to sleep. Isn't this hill ever going to end?"

"What are you talking about? Serena, you were so psyched a minute ago." I say.

"Hey! From this point on it's downhill all the way!" Bonnie says, much to the others' relief. Then we see some Swanna passing by and then something falls onto my head.

"It's so slimy..." I mutter while taking the thing off, and much to my surprise, it is a Goomy.

"No way... it's a Goomy!" David gasps. "It is one of the Dragon Types who become a Pseudo Legendary Pokemon!"

"Something's not right about this Goomy." Clemont says. "You know, the majority of Goomy's body is made up of liquid. I'm wondering if somehow it got dried out."

"I've got some water." Serena takes out her bottle and pours on Goomy, who slowly awakens weakly.

"Maybe it's still not enough." I say as I look around, and I find a river nearby. "Great! I'll just take it to the river."

I pick up Gommy and David says, "You're going to climb down there? It's too dangerous."

"We'll be fine. It's got to have water." I say as I accidentally slip and run down quickly and uncontrollably. Though I'm able to dodge most obstacles, I trip over a rock, causing Goomy to be thrown into the air. However, I grab it in time, only to crash into the river below.

"Ash, we warned you..." Serena mutters with a sigh.

"Goomy still looks weak." Bonnie says.

"We've got to put more water on it." After we spray some water, Goomy finally gets better.

"Yay! Goomy's better!" Bonnie cheers, but when Dedenne pops out of the bag, Goomy suddenly yells, "Fairy Type!" And then he jumps onto my head.

"Are you scared of Fairy Types?" I ask with confusion.

"Wow, Goomy's scared of cute little Dedenne? You're weird." Bonnie says.

Goomy, offended by her remark, hits her legs with its horns, but Bonnie laughs, "That tickles!"

I pick up Goomy and says, "Goomy, what's wrong?"

Clemont says, "Goomy's horns have sensory organs in them and I believe they're its weak point." Clemont says.

"Slow down and take it easy." I say.

"Maybe when you said Goomy was weird, it hurt its feelings." Elline says.

Goomy happily approaches Elline's ear and nibbles it, which suggests that she must have been right. Elline says, "But it's a little gross that Goomy feels so slimy..."

Goomy then falls back into the river, and Elline gasps, "I'm sorry. I hurt your feelings..."

It is then that rain pours on Elline, and we believe that Goomy can use Rain Dance. "I said I'm sorry. I won't call you gross again!" Goomy then stops as he feels hungry.

"Hey, Goomy, want something to eat?" Then we decide to follow Goomy as he tries to find food on his own. We find that he likes to eat leaves, and it is then our Quilladin comes out of the Pokeball on his own and he tries to get a berry on the tree, but the attack causes some Ariados to fall off the tree. Ariados try to attack us, but Pikachu uses Electro Ball to stop them.

"We're so sorry. Quilldain doesn't mean any harm." I say, and that's when they leave. We turn to notice Goomy sweating bullets.

"What's wrong, it's all over?" I ask.

"Bug types are evil too!" Goomy says.

Serena says, "Bug and Fairy types are evil? Can you tell us what's really going on?"

Goomy frowns, "My home was in the Laverre Nature Trail of Route 14... we lived happily until that day... a bunch of Bug and Fairy Type appear and they attack and destroy our home... I got separated from my friends and escaped on Swanna..."

"I see... if Fairy and Bug Type Pokemon are the reason why Goomy is scared and forced to leave his home... then that explains everything..." I say.

"But not all Fairy and Bug Type Pokemon are evil... Dedenne won't ever do something like that..." Bonnie says.

"I was so weak... I wasn't able to protect my home..." Goomy frowns, and I say, "Hey, Goomy. You're not weak. I'm sure of it, all you need is some training and I'm sure you can get your home back from those Bug and Fairy Types that you mentioned."

Goomy is delighted, and he wants to join our team, we are delighted as we capture the Goomy.

Goomy: The Soft Tissue Pokemon: Dragon Type. The weakest Dragon-type Pokémon, it lives in damp, shady places, so its body doesn't dry out.

As we introduce him to our other Pokemon, he might be scared of our other Pokemon, but when it comes to Florges, Goomy quickly hides behind me, much to her confusion.

"The one who led the attack was a Florges..." He admits, and we decide to explain everything to the other Pokemon, my Florges seems down after hearing what her species has done. As we are training, we accidentally hit the group of Lotad and Lombre, they are really angry as they attack us, and in the end, it causes us to be separated from Goomy, Zoroark, Florges, and Dedenne.

"Dedenne is missing!" Bonnie gasps.

"Goomy, Zoroark, and Florges are also missing as well!" I say. I have Aerodactyl search from the air, and Pikachu also tries to use Electricity to trace Dedenne, and they get a reply. After we find them, we notice that Zoroark and Goomy are battling some wild Ariados so we decide to help out.

"Eevee! Swift! Pikachu! Thunderbolt! Absol! Dark Pulse!" I command and the three Pokemon attack the Ariados, and Goomy is also using Bide to send the attack back.

"Wow, that is a powerful Bide you got there!" Serena cheers.

And after the Ariados are gone, we try to heal Florges and Dedenne. And much to our delight, Goomy is not afraid of them and he's trying to nuzzle them.

"What do you know? Goomy isn't afraid of Dedenne and Florges anymore." Serena says.

"Yeah, and that's because they've turned into best buddies!" Bonnie cheers.

"Well, I'm glad." I say.

We finally arrive at Courmarine City, and that's when we get a Holo Clip from Calem. "Ash! I challenge you to a battle in front of the Gym! You'd better be ready!"

Calem is giving me an invitation to battle, and I'm not going to refuse. And since we're at Coumarine City, Clemont says, "With its mild environment, Coumarine City is famous as a resort spot."

Then Bonnie wants to have some ice cream, and we learn that there is a lost Vanillite being taken care of in town. But to go to the Pokemon Center, we have to take the Monorail.

On the way, we find a lot of Grass Type Pokemon, and we meet a fisherman, who says, "You're a wandering Trainer, aren't you? Let me guess - you wish to fish for all the Pokemon in the water, right? I'm sure you do. I can see it. I'm a fishing fanatic, and I've collected more Good Rods than I could ever use!"

Then he gives us a Good Rod, so Elline is the one taking it. There is also the Coumarine Hotel on this side as well. But once we head into the monorail, we find Professor Sycamore and Champion Diantha there.

"Mom! What are you doing here?" David gasps.

"The Professor is here as well!" I say.

"Why hello!" Professor Sycamore says. "How are you guys doing?"

"We're doing great. We've got a bunch of new Mega Stones as well." I say.

"That's great news. You're not giving them a lot of trouble, are you, David, Elline?" Diantha asks.

"Of course not." Elline says. "That reminds me, we did visit our old school the day before. It turns out that Clemont was also a graduate from the same school."

"I see." Diantha says.

Professor Sycamore says, "I just met up with Calem a few hours ago. He obtained everything he needed for Mega Evolution. A Mega Stone for the Pokémon, a Key Stone for the Trainer, and a strong bond with Pokémon."

"A strong bond?" Serena asks.

"It's only a hypothesis, but I think the bond between Pokémon and Trainer is the key to this Mega Evolution. But what is this bond, exactly? And why are there examples of Mega Evolution only in the Hoenn and Kalos region? There's still so much we don't know..." Professor Sycamore says.

"Does this make you think of something like Kalos's Legendary Pokémon? Found only here in the Kalos region, right? Nowhere else? Maybe that's not a coincidence." Diantha says.

"Oh! What an excellent point! Indeed! The more you know, the more there is to research! The excitement never ends, does it?" Professor Sycamore says.

"Speaking of Kalos Legendaries, we did manage to meet Xerneas and Yveltal." David says. "Ash even captures the Yveltal in the end."

"I know." Diantha says. "But I also heard of your Frogadier who was hit by the Oblivion Wing and turned into a Shiny Pokemon."

Professor Sycamore says, "This is also an interesting case... when Froakie was with me, he never showed anything about it."

"Yeah, we're still trying to find out the reason behind this." I say. "But right now nothing has happened, so I guess it is fine."

"If you say so. Oh, that's right! I came here to give you this!" Professor Sycamore says while giving us an HM for Fly, this is actually the sixth one and I don't need it.

"Use the HM Fly to pop right over to Pokémon Centers of places you've already visited! Well then, Diantha, I hope to see you again soon!" After he leaves, Diantha says, "Bonds... They really are important to us all, aren't they? When I'm acting, I think I'm always trying to forge a bond between myself and the character I'm playing. If all I think about is how I'm nothing like a character, then I'll just hate playing it. But if I focus on what I have in common with the character and put myself in her shoes, I might be able to understand her. It's the same for people - or Pokémon."

"Wow..." Elline says.

"Oh, never mind me! I'm just babbling about my own things. Let's have a battle the next we meet, shall we? I'm still looking forward to it!" Diantha says as I nod.

After we get off the monorail to the other part of the Courmarine City, we stop by at a Victreebel ranch. The Victreebel are attacking Clemont, and that's when a man on a Gogoat has come to our rescue.

"What are you whippersnappers doing? This place is strictly off-limits to the general public."

"Sorry, we don't know." I say.

"I imagine all the Victreebel were mighty spooked." The man says.

"Uh, sir? Will you tell us why this place is off-limits?" Serena asks.

"Yes, of course. This area is a pasture for Grass-types." The man says.

"So I guess you watch over all those grazing Pokemon?" I ask.

"Yep. Truth is, this ranch belongs to me. Grass-type Pokemon are just wonderful. And Gogoat? It's a grass-type too." The man says. "And those are all my Sunfloras, by using the power of their Solar Beams, I can generate electricity."

"The future is now thanks to science. That's incredible." Clemont says.

When the man asks us where we're going, we tell him to the Pokemon Center and he decides to take us there by going with a shortcut. Once we arrive at the Pokemon Center, we ask to see the Vanillite in the Pokemon Center, and it is very friendly.

However, it is then Calem rushes in and I say, "Hey, Calem?"

"Not the right time now. The whole city is freezing in snow!" We are shocked as we all head outside, and the whole city is freezing in ice.

"It was just warm a minute ago! What could have happened?" Serena asks.

The Vanillite then starts to fly away, and we decide to chase after him, we find that Vanillish and Vanilluxe are the ones who are blinded by anger as they keep using Icy Wind.

"Vanillish! Vanilluxe! You have to stop! Calm down!" I yell as I try to approach them, but without any winter clothing, the cold is getting the best to me. It is then the same man with the Gogoat appear and he yells, "Hold on, Whippersnapper. You'll freeze."

"But we have to stop those two." I say.

"Young man, attacking head-on can be a good thing at times, but other times you have to take the side roads." The man replies. "Let me demonstrate!"

He sends out the Jumpluff and has it use Sunny Day, which stops the snow and causes both Vanillish and Vanilluxe to calm down. "Now, all my Sunflora gather together as one!"

We see the Sunflora gather and combine their forces to use Solar Beam, melting the snow around the area. Vanillite then all rush back to Vanilluxe and Vanillish. After they leave, we thank the man and he says, "Now, young man... Life isn't always about traveling head-on. Sometimes you have to take the side roads instead. Remember that."

"Okay." I nod. And Calem says, "Thank you very much, Mr. Ramos."

So Calem knows this man? And after we introduce ourselves, Calem says, "If you don't know, Ramos here is the Gym Leader of Coumarine City."

We are shocked and Ramos says, "Yes, I'm the Coumarine Gym Leader. I'll be waiting for you."

After he leaves, I am more pumped to battle against him, but it is getting late, and Calem says, "How about we postpone our battle for tomorrow?"

"I guess that's fine for me." I say.
