The Pyramid is breaking over us. With every crashing stone, the ground shakes. I'm not strong enough to keep the shield up any longer.

I look over at Amos Kane. He is muttering now, voice too weak after all the screaming. I look at the tears running down his face.

I know I am going to die here. He shouldn't.

Maybe there is a way to escape out of this hell? Even so, the pain in my leg is proof we won't be able to reach it.

A huge shadow right above us.

The last of the falls. Survive this one, and it will all be over.

The stone is nearing so quickly, my reaction is more instinctive rather than logical.

All of my energy shoots towards the stone, streams of fire pushing it away. This time, however, they can't be controlled.

The pain consumes faster than the fires.

I scream until I can't no more, until my throat is sore and my voice can barely be heard.

The world begins to fade and I am more than happy to let it. To escape.

To not have to face the figure running at me through the debris.

"Zia!"

He is too late.

"Too late."

"Too late."

"Too late."

The snake's whispers fill the air.

"Carter Kane is too late. He failed you."
