A little note. I started this fanfic in what seemed like a whole other lifetime ago. Since I first started it, I have grown in more ways than one. Divorce, finding love again and marriage and a child. I have always had this fanfic in the back of my mind. It never left my heart. I'm not a writer by any means, more of a dabbler. I never meant to let this story go for so long. Life happened hard. So please accept my deepest heartfelt apologies for the long, overdue continuation of my story.

Eyes for Jupiter

Chapter 18

Once back in the safety of the car, I pulled out my communicator.

"We've found him," I said.

"Meet back at Haruka's as soon as possible. We'll be there in twenty minutes." I confirmed.

"I'll call the others and let them know," replied Ami.

Rein sat there looking confused. "What do you mean we've found him?

I turned towards him in thr seat. "When you were talking to the building super, I saw the doors open on the secure elevator. He walked out. He was surrounded by others, but it was definitely him. It was like I was looking at you the first day I ran into you."

Rein immediately burst into a million questions. They were thrown out so fast, I couldn't keep up.

"Rein!" I shouted. "Calm down! Let's talk about this at Haruka's. Hopefully Ami can get some more information on this place."

He nodded and turned to silently stare out the window.

The car ride back to Haruka's was tense and agonizing long. The twenty minute ride seemed like hours. I could feel Rein's tension flow off of him. He had a death grip on my hand. I took my free hand and placed it on his tense thigh. He looked away from the window to me. I saw the pain and questions in his beautiful pale green eyes.

I took my hand from his thigh and placed it gently on his cheek and whispered, "It's gonna be ok."

He let out a deep sigh. "I know," he said. "You're sure it was him?" He asked.

"One hundred and ten percent," I said. "He is totally your twin. I couldn't mistake any one else for him, except you."

He leaned his head towards mine, just as they touched he closed his eyes and sighed again. "Thank you."

I tilted my head up and kissed him softly. "Thank me once we get your brother back."

We stayed like that until the car stopped. "Looks like we're back," I said. I opened the door. Rein met me on my side of the car, and we both went into the house to meet up with the group.

"We're just waiting on Usagi and Mamoru," said Rei. "Like old times."

Mamoru and Usagi arrived soon after with food in tow.

" I thought we'd need something to keep our energy up!" Said Mamoru.

Everyone nodded in agreement and food was quickly passed around, then all eyes were on me. I quickly went over what transpired at the complex. Ami started tapping keys on her computer right away.

"Bingo," said Ami. All eyes shifted immediately to her. "I managed to hack into Wild Winds computer system. It was tricky, but I found a back door that wasn't secure. " She kept typing for a few minutes. "It looks like they are opening up a test facility at the old foundry."

"What are they going to test?" Asked Mamoru.

Ami's eyes suddenly got very wide. "They're going to test biomechanical implants on humans! And their first round is tomorrow at 10 am!"

"Did they get clearance from the government?" Asked Michiru.

"Looks like they bypassed the government and went straight to the testing." Said Ami.

"Where did they get the volunteers?" Asked Rei.

"Monty." Said a voice from the door.

Everyone looked at the doorway. Yukara was standing there pale and panting. "It's Monty." She said. "I thought I stopped this nonsense. I told Masato I didn't want the company involved with any human testing. Even if they were volunteers. It was too dangerous. My father said the same thing to him before he died. How could I have been so blind and stupid!"

Michiru immediately went over to Yukara. "It's not your fault." She reassured.

Rein looked at her and asked, "How much did you hear?"

"Enough to know Monty is the test subject. I came back to apologize to you." She turned towards the windows. "Monty knew what was going on. He said he'd take care of it. I thought he did. Masato agrees to drop the research project, so I thought it was a done deal. Then, the next month, Monty disappeared, and well, the rest, you know."

"What's our next move?"Asked Minako.

Haruka walked back into the room which no one realized she left. "Our next move is a meeting with an old acquaintance tomorrow at 8 am. Michiru, will you do me the honor of accompanying me?"

"Of course," She replied l.

Later in the evening, they all agreed to stay at Haruka's place, including Yukara. It was too dangerous to leave her alone. The rest of the evening was spent on planning.

Tomorrow, Haruka and Michiru would meet with Masato, while I watched the apartment complex for movement. During that time time, Rein and Yukara would show up at Wild Winds together at 9am. The rest of the group would set up a perimeter around the foundry.

Once everyone was in place they would wait for a signal to bust into the building and stop them from doing the test, and hopefully rescuing Rein's brother in the process.

It was now just past eight in the evening. Everyone else had decided to head to bed since we had an early morning ahead of us. That left Rein and I alone in the living room. He was sitting on the sofa, and I was on the floor, nestled between his legs. He was absently twirling my hair around his fingers. I could sense that he was worried.

"Want to talk about it?" I asked him.

He sighed and removed his hand from my hair, sat up with his elbows on his knees. He put his head in his hands, running his fingers through his hair.

"I'm really worried someone will get hurt. No, wait. I'm worried you will get hurt. I don't know what I'll do if something happened to you. Much less you friends." He said.

I turned around and sat on my knees in front of him and grabbed his hands to make him look at me. "You really don't need to worry about us at all." I stood up and tugged on his hands. "Come on. Follow me."

He sluggishly followed me as I pulled him along the hall towards the training room I knew Haruka had. "I know you've only seen me transform the once, so this should help you feel a little better," I said.

We turned the corner and could hear sparring noises coming from the room. We reached the entrance and saw Uranus and Neptune fighting each other.

Once they saw us they stopped, neither really out of breath.

"I was wondering when you'd get here," said Uranus to me. "Care to spar, Jupiter?"

I gave Rein a quick peck on his lips and replied, "love to."

I grabbed my transformation pen and said the words in my heart..."Jupiter crystal power make-up!"

I heard Rein mutter behind me. "I don't think I'll ever get use to that." He said.

Neptune silently walked to Rein's side. "We should go to the observation lounge. This may get intense."

Rein nodded and followed her out of the room. In the mean time, I looked at Uranus and said, "Let's do this."

Nodding, she came at me fast. I managed to evade her first punch, but she landed a kick to my side. I didn't miss my opportunity to land a couple blows in return. We kept sparring for thirty minutes, both landing punches and kicks equally until Uranus finally called it.

"You've gotten a lot stronger," She said through breaths.

"And you're faster than I remember," I said equally breathing hard.

We both quickly changed back to ourselves and were joined by Rein and Michiru.

"Are all of your friends fighters like that?" Asked Rein.

"Yes." I replied. "Although, Usagi takes some time. But once she gets going nothing and no one can beat her."

"I just wish she would take training a little more seriously." Said Haruka.

"I'm glad she doesn't," I said. "Then she really wouldn't need us!" I laughed.

The other two sunshine laughed, too. Rein just stood there looking mildly confused.

"We better all get some sleep. We have an early morning tomorrow," said Michiru.

"You're right," said Rein.

I agreed and we soon left to go find our rooms and beds for the night.

Once inside our room, Rein turned towards me. "You are truly amazing." He gently kissed my lips. "Remind me to never make you angry." He chuckled.

I laughed at his words as we fell onto the bed. The evening was finally catching up with me.

"Tonight I just want to hold you," he said. "I don't want to forget this. I don't know how I can ever repay you."

"Shh." I put my finger on his lips."I would do anything for you. So tonight, let's just sleep." I stroked his hair until I felt him nod off. I snuggled closer to his warmth and felt the soft snores drag me into welcoming darkness. Tomorrow was going to be a long day.
