I thought I had holidays
When Harry woke up the next morning, he felt refreshed and well rested.
He was confused though, the room was lit up but none of his relatives had shouted for him. Usually his uncle's sister screamed for him at dawn and at that time she would also go outside with Ripper and when she came back she wanted breakfast to be on the table and for her "cute" dog to also find a filled bowl.
But today, nothing.
Still, irritated, Harry sat up, took his glasses and looked around. 'this is not my room.'
It was only after a few seconds that his memories of yesterday returned.
'Oh.'
Harry's eyes went to his left. A huge dog was just turning its massive head towards him.
When the animal saw him, a greeting followed in the form of a big tongue that ran across the boy's face.
"Urg, Good morning blacky, Don't get angry with me but please take your snout out of my face, you have terrible breath. "
The dog sat up completely and looked at Harry offended. Though one could tell that he clearly towered over the boy.
"Hey, don't get offended an' I guess you haven't had anything good to eat lately and your teeth are probably not in the best condition either, I'll take care of that later. "
Harry got up first and got dressed. He hated his cousin's clothes, but he had nothing else. Besides, he certainly didn't want to waste his parents' money on something so silly as fashion.
the boy then looked around.
"Seems like Hedwig is really enjoying her newfound freedom. She'll probably come back later. "
Then he turned to his four-legged friend.
"What do you think about going for a walk?"
The dog jumped up immediately, He stood next to Harry with his tail wagging wildly.
"Hey, watch your tail, it'll kill me."
The boy said while laughing and then they went down to the canteen.
Tom was already there. The man had seen his two guests yesterday, but he was too confused about the presence of the minister to actually pay them any mind. When he looked at the boy and the animal, his mouth dropped,
After swallowing dry he stammered.
"T-this dog looks like a rage. Ar-are you sure it's a dog? "
"Good Morning. Yes, I am absolutely certain. You don't need to be afraid either, he's very kind. "
"I doubt that," grumbled the landlord. It was scary for him to have such an animal in his house but since the minister had already paid for the boy's stay, including the food, so he could hardly defend himself against his presence. The boy was also Harry Potter the-boy-who-lived, which was a priceless advertisement for his inn so he could oversee the monster dog well as far as the size went.
The boy tore him back out of his thoughts.
"Is there a park nearby? I want to take Blacky out for a walk. "
That brought the man back into the present again,
"You can go with him to the garden, where all the guests go with their dogs. The third door on the left. and don't worry about the legacies of the dog. There is magic over the place that does the cleaning for you. "
Harry thanked him and went outside with his companion.
Once they had left the landlord, they proceeded to the garden, the garden was rather beautiful, it even gave Blacky enough space to run around.
"Well then, let off steam."
The animal could not be told twice. with a monkey tooth smile he raced behind a tree to do his business.
Harry had to laugh when he saw that after he didn't know what was hidden behind the dog fur, he simply assumed that this behavior would be normal for dogs from the magical world.
After Blacky relieved himself, he inspected the green area. when he had had enough of it, he encouraged Harry to play with him. He was also very enthusiastic, and so the two fooled around for the next half hour.
When they came back into the canteen it was filled with the first round of guests who were here for breakfast. Everyone stared at the new arrivals.
Harry was uncomfortable with the whole thing. people weren't staring because he was Harry Potter, they were whispering about the 'Grimm'. The young Gryffindor decided he would read something about these beings. He was really curious as to WHAT they were. However, he did not want to ask anyone here.
He turned to the landlord.
"Sorry, how much does breakfast cost for me and my dog?"
Tom looked at the boy in confusion.
"You don't have to pay, everything has already been paid by the minister. Sit down, I'll bring the food straight away. "
Harry chose a seat in the very corner. Hopefully he would be overlooked that way. After a look at his companion, however, told him otherwise. With this giant dog, he would stand out anywhere.
When breakfast came, Harry only now realized how hungry he was. However, he tried to eat slowly, he really didn't want to attract more attention to himself than he already had.
With Blacky, of course, it was very different, he gulped his food as if he was afraid that someone would take it away, but that didn't bother Harry, after all for dogs it was important to sling. had he forgotten? But he was sure it had nothing to do with physical health.
After breakfast, the two went back to their room. Once in, Harry started to put his clothes away. He would be here for a month, after all. He briefly wondered where he would wash his clothes. He decided to inquire Tom about it later.
Once he had also stowed his school supplies away, he addressed Blacky.
"I will briefly go to Diagon Alley. I have to get some things for you. Then I can bathe you."
The dog jumped up again and looked at him expectantly.
"No, you stay here. I want to do it quickly and if you are there, we will probably be held up the entire time.
But don't worry. As soon as you're clean I'll take you with me and then I won't care about what anyone says. "
The dog looked at the boy with wide eyes. He didn't seem to like the idea of having to stay here.
Harry stroked the black animal.
"Be good, and when Hedwig comes back please make friends with her. She is my best friend."
With that, Harry left the room.
A somewhat sad dog remained.
A storm rushed through the alley that led away from the pharmacy. Everyone who saw the black storm cloud got to safety as soon as possible. Especially those who were unlucky enough to know said storm cloud personally.
Severus Snape, the potions master and professor at Hogwarts, was beside himself.
'What was that old fool thinking of, pushing me around in my well-deserved HOLIDAYS? And then with such an order, see if his golden child is doing well. Pah! He's Probably being paraded in the Leaky Cauldron and is laughing at the good nature of the minister.
it went on like this until in the angry man's head until he stood in front of the bookstore.
If he was going to be forced to stay here, he would do some shopping. That was why he had been to the pharmacy before. just because he had to look after the 'oh so famous Potter' didn't mean that he had to let that villain dictate his free time.
However, what made him angry was that the headmaster asked him to spend the rest of his days off with the brat.
And only because he supposedly used wild magic and the minister was completely upset about it. he would have to watch the boy and in addition he would have to teach him to control his wild magic. 'Yes, of course.' he thought with sarcasm.
Severus was absolutely certain that the boy was NOT using any wild magic. Ms. Nine times wiser than you probably told her little friends that only very powerful wizards had this power and now that he was in trouble, the little bastard must have remembered it. And everyone was eating out of his hand, again.
But not him, oh no, He would be staying right next to Potter's room. Let's see how long it took for the villain to admit his hatred for the teacher, he won't let him rest until he does. He had agreed to take care of the brat, but he had never promised to be nice. the brat would never forget this month.
With a grim smile that frightened the next passers-by, he opened the door to the shop.
And whom does he come to meet right in front of him?
Harry had gone straight to the pet shop or whatever it was called in the magical world. There he first got some hygiene items for Blacky. He hadn't known that there was such a large variety.
Then he remembered that the dog was constantly scratching himself, so products against all kinds of parasites was added to the pile.
In the end he had bought enough to make a perfectly equipped animal pharmacy, he had also bought some stuff for Hedwig, Better safe than sorry.
'Great, now I have more for Blacky and my owl than for me.' Somehow the thought amused him.
Fortunately, he always used his money sparingly. He had enough money from last year so he didn't have to go to the bank at the moment.
afterwards he made a detour to the bookshop. He wanted to finally know WHAT in the hangman was a GRIMM. He found a book on this subject among the section of magical creatures, after all, he had become interested in it because of his friendship with Hagrid, he immediately bought different copies.
He was reaching for the handle and was about to leave the shop when it suddenly opened.
the next moment he saw nothing but black.
When he looked up slowly to look into the face of his counterpart, he involuntarily took a step backwards.
"Professor?!"
"Potter!" he spat back at him.
Harry wished he brought Blacky with him at the moment.
'Damn, where is Voldemort when you need him?' The boy would rather deal with that instead.
"Potter, have you stared enough now? And close your mouth, so that you only look half as stupid than already do."
Harry immediately closed his mouth, which he hadn't even noticed was open.
He was about to say something when the angry teacher interrupted him again.
"I hope you had fun. The headmaster is worried and here you are having fun shopping. you should be ashamed of taking advantage of the good nature of others, but what did I expect from the famous Mr. Potter? Something like consideration is a foreign word for you. "
That was too much for Harry. He spoke again before thinking.
"Apparently for you too." Harry said, slightly annoyed.
"Excuse me!?"
Harry swallowed his rising panic and tried to answer as calmly as possible.
"You are in the way," he pointed to the entrance. In which some passersby were already waiting impatiently.
The Potions Master turned and shot an angry glare at them. He changed his mind,
He grabbed the young Potter by the arm and dragged him out of the store.
"ugh professor, you're hurting me."
"Don't be so dramatic."
He wouldn't be if Snape wasn't griping that specific spot under his arm, Margie had given him a big blow on there two days ago simply because he was standing there, he wouldn't be complaining.
His teacher finally let go of him.
Merlin, this oversized bat was a danger to the public. swearing softly, the boy rubbed the acing area.
Severus looked disapprovingly at the boy.
'Sissy', he thought.
"So, tell me what are you doing there? It's not been a day since the ministry brought you here and it seems you have nothing better to do than throw your money out the window."
"I didn't throw money out the window. I had to get something. "
He said holding up the bag from the pet shop.
Snape eyed the bag skeptically.
"What did you have to do so urgently? I'm sure there are enough owl biscuits in the Leaky Cauldron for your lint catcher. "
Harry growled angrily. He couldn't stand anyone insulting his owl and certainly not from this guy.
"Hedwig is not a lint catcher and I wasn't shopping for her either. "
"Rather?"
Now the teacher was even more skeptical. as far as he knew the boy had only one animal. Hopefully he hadn't gotten another one.
"For Blacky."
Just as Severus had feared,
"And who is Blacky?"
"A dog."
"Potter, you know very well that dogs are not allowed at Hogwarts. At least not to the students. "
"I know, but he ran to me. What was I supposed to do? I can't just leave a helpless animal to its own devices. "
Now Severus honestly didn't know what to say. He was incredibly angry with the boy for just running around in Diagon Alley like that but on the other hand, it was difficult to reproach him for wanting to help a dog. The wavering teacher decided on an alternate solution.
"And what do you intend to do with him during your school days? After all, you can't take it with you. The rules also apply even to the famous Harry Potter. "
He was amused to watch the boy writhing.
"To be honest, I haven't thought about that yet. I will write a letter to Hagrid and ask him if he can take it. "
"Great Potter. I'm going to mark red the day on the calendar of when you think BEFORE you do anything. And what do you intend to do when your friend can't take care of your livestock."
Because that's what would happen. The giant klutz was taking over "Care of Magical Creatures' ' starting this year, but of course the boy didn't know that yet.
Harry looked at him somewhat perplexed.
"Then I will have to find another solution. But there's no way I'm going to put him back on the streets."
With that, he turned and left.
Harry was more than irritated when he realized that the teacher he hated was following him. What more did this guy want?
His furtive glances only earned him a grim smile. 'Ugh' he was creeped out by this. A headache was even more reassuring.
"You don't have to stare like that Potter. Do you think the headmaster would leave you unsupervised? He's given me orders to keep an eye on you. And I will."
Harry stopped abruptly and stared at Snape, aghast. He seemed to be enjoying the situation.
At some point the young Gryffindor dropped his shoulders.
"And I thought I was on vacation."
Severus almost laughed. This was probably what they called gallows humor, but he would not be the hated, grumpy bastard from the dungeons if he had left that sentence without a snarky comment.
"You should have thought about that before you did magic on vacation."
The boy stopped again. this time, however, he whirled angrily at his teacher.
"It was not intentional! I also said that to Minister Crouch, I have no idea how I did it. I didn't even have my wand!" he cried out in anger.
"We'll see about that." was all Snape said.
For a while the two walked side by side in silence. Harry was still angry. Great, now he had the slimy bat on his neck for the rest of the summer. although that would be an insult to the cute little animals. There was nothing cute about the man next to him. What the hell had he done to deserve this?
When Harry's eyes fell on his purchases, he suddenly remembered something. If the guy was here might as well ask.
"Professor?"
Severus looked at the boy in surprise. He didn't think he'd break the silence.
"What Potter?"
"What is a Grimm?"
Now Severus was not only surprised but also confused. Why did the kid want to know? And why was he asking him of all people? Then his eyes fell on the purchases.
"Was that what you bought in the bookstore?"
"Yes, I finally wanted to know what kind of being that is."
Well, he might as well answer Potter.
"A Grimm is a messenger of death. He has the shape of a big black dog. The legends say that if you see him, you must die."
"That explains a lot."
"What do you mean by that?"
"So far, everyone whos seen Blacky has compared him to a Grimm. That's why I'm interested."
Somehow Severus didn't like that statement, at all. How bad did the mutt have to look, for everyone to be comparing him to a death omen? The worst thing, however, was that now the probability was much greater that the half-giant would take the animal in.
When they got to the Leaky Cauldron Severus motioned for his student to wait while he went to the landlord and rented a room right next to Potter's. He watched the whole thing with big incredulous eyes.
He stared at the man in bewilderment.
"Do you want to live here?"
"Potter, what on earth, I'm going to keep an eye on you, don't you understand? Do you really think I'll leave you unsupervised even for a day? "
Harry wanted to say something else, but then decided to leave it. At least that evil bat didn't get the idea to nest in the SAME room as him. The boy involuntarily shivered at the thought.
Once at the top, Harry wanted to say goodbye.
"Wait right there Potter. I'll come with you. After all, you got yourself a stray, I want to see if that thing is alright."
Severus didn't feel like admitting that he was definitely curious about this ominous dog.
Harry shrugged and unlocked the door to the room.
Inside, he was greeted by enthusiastic barking.
"It's okay Blacky, I'm back."
Suddenly, the animal stiffened.
"Hey pup, what's wrong?"
The next moment, the dog leapt past Harry in one bounce and landed directly on the startled potions master.
