Epilogue

The explosion had been like nothing any of them had experienced before. Yaz curled into a ball, letting the shock waves from the Nitro 99 run through the atmosphere around her. She lifted her head to see Ace breathing heavily, her head resting against the wall behind her.

"You ok?" Ace kept her eyes closed as she spoke.

Yaz nodded before agreeing. "Just."

"What?" Ace turned to the younger women.

"You hurt Graham and it wont be the Doctor or the Sontaran you need to worry about."

Ace smirked before shaking her head.

"I thought Ryan was going to be protective of him."

"Yeah, he will be." Yaz smiled as she thought of her friend. "Graham is family. Not blood related but family. Like Tegan and Nyssa."

"Oh no, I don't think your relationship with Graham is anything like that." She smiled. "Another story, for another day." Ace got to her feet as the rest of the building seemed to settle. Yaz raised an eyebrow as the older woman walked past her. "Back to base?"

"Yeah." Yaz stuck her hands in her pockets as she followed her.

The rain had stopped when Ryan found his grandfather staring out over the city. His eyes strayed to the TARDIS parked in the street next to UNIT HQ. It seemed the Doctor was no better at parking.

"You think it'll be ok?" Ryan asked. "The Sontaran thing."

"Yeah." Graham nodded as he turned to the younger man. "Reckon so, you know the Doc, she can sort most things. Getting this Ten bloke across a dimension shouldn't be an issue for her. Two Time Lords in one place."

"And one isn't that Master bloke."

"Thank God." He sighed.

"So." Ryan leaned against the railing surrounding the roof. "You gonna tell me about you and this Ace then?"

"Ryan."

"She's nice. I like her."

"Yeah." The older man smiled. "Yeah, she is."

"So, you like her. She definitely likes you. Yaz told me."

"Yaz?"

"Yeah."

"So?" Graham felt sick. "You know, me and yer Gran."

"Was special. I know." Ryan smiled. "And I was a nightmare. But Gran wouldn't want you moping about. You and her. Yeah that was special. But Ace is nice. She's not going to take any of your nonsense AND she's been in the TARDIS. Who else is gonna understand what that is like?"

"Is this you giving us your blessing?"

"Yeah." Ryan sighed. "Yeah, reckon it is. Look, Kate is expecting us all back downstairs."

"It worked." Thirteen smiled as she headed into the TARDIS. "It really worked."

"Yeah." Ten smiled back at her. "A new dimension. A new Gallifrey."

"Yeah." Thirteen smiled at him. "You sure you want to stay here? I mean. Its going to be."

"An adventure? Yeah." He smiled as the TARDIS doors opened to reveal his own blue police box waiting for him. "Look after yourself."

"Will do." She smiled before he looked around her TARDIS once more before disappearing into the mist. She shook her head before spinning round back to the console. "Right then, come on Old Girl. Where are we going next? No Volcanos, though. Not this time."
