Back again. Chapter Eleven. The last chapter of Matt's training arc. I had a lot of fun with this one! Zeus has really become a personal favorite, to be honest.

11. I Learn About The Last Resort

Matt

I didn't dream of anything.

I had the rare night of no visions, and no nightmares. We demigods call that a "miracle."

So I wasn't sure how much sleep I really got until Zeus woke me up. I felt okay, pretty refreshed, so I'd say it was enough.

It was bright and early though, because the sun had just poked it's head around the ocean by the time we were ready to get started. Kyros remained asleep, since he didn't have to be a part of the lesson this time.

Both of us stood near the water, standing face to face. Zeus looked even more serious than ever. I guess whatever he was going to show me today would be the most important of them all.

"Alright, Matt." He said. "Today is your last day of training. So far, you've increased your physical and mental strength, you've learned how to enhance your Red Beam Cannon, you've learned telepathy, and telekinesis. All very important skills that can be utilized in your normal state, and aura state."

I nodded.

"And this entire time, I've told you specifically to not use the Master Bolt. Correct?"

"Yeah." I could feel my anticipation growing.

"Well, today, that changes. Today, we focus solely on the bolt. I'm going to teach you how to control it properly."

I fought against the growing smile. Finally! I'd be lying if I said I'd hoped at least one of these days I get to work on using the Master Bolt. It's my most powerful weapon, by far. Each shot has mind bending power. Hell, that's why I only got five of them.

Upon the memory of the drawback, I frowned. "But Grandfather, how can I train with it? I can only use it five times." Almost shamefully, I lowered my head, remembering the four shots I've already used. One on Atlas, one on Polybotes, and two on Tartarus. With one of those missing the Primordial completely. "I only have one shot left."

"Once we're done, you won't have to worry about that. I'm going to teach you how to use it without costing your own life. How to fire as many shots as you want."

I looked up at him with wide eyes. "Seriously? As many shots as I want?"

"That's right." He smiled. "Now, that's not to say that it won't take energy, so don't go firing it willy nilly, use it sparingly still, but the point is, you won't have a limit to your uses."

"B-But how? I was told that five shots was all my body could take. How could I possibly withstand more, you know, without becoming a god?"

"Well, I can tell you why you have limits in the first place. It's because you haven't trained with it properly, and you've been using the bolt's full power with each attack."

That caught me for a loop. The bolt's full power? With every attack? I mean...that made sense. When I used it all those times, it packed a serious punch to the most powerful beings known to man. I mean, Atlas only survived because he managed to dodge it a little, and even then, it caught his arm and blew half his body off. Polybotes was destroyed entirely, and Tartarus, the attack that hit him caused considerable damage. And he's the strongest guy we've faced so far, by a mile.

Had I been using too much of its energy?

"It's not your fault." Zeus assured. "You haven't had the proper training with it to know the difference. But let's look back on your successful attacks. Only in one of those situations, was full power necessary, and that was when you faced Tartarus."

"Wait, so you're saying that I didn't need the bolt's full power to kill Atlas and Polybotes?"

"Well, you didn't need the bolt at all to kill Polybotes. You could've done that with your fists."

I scratched my head sheepishly. "Yeah...that one was a bit unnecessary."

"Despite that, no you didn't need it's full power. See, a trained user of the bolt will be able to recognize its overwhelming energy, and match that up with the opponent's energy, and deem the power necessary to defeat them. For Polybotes, only one percent would have been necessary. For Atlas, about ten percent would've done the trick."

I gawked at him. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Only ten percent for Atlas?!

"But...Grandfather...that guy was nearly unstoppable when we fought him! He actually survived the bolt's attack, at full power! How would ten percent have been enough?"

Zeus held up an irritated hand, urging me to let him explain. "That's because you weren't quick enough with the release, nor accurate enough. He dodged the attack. Again, it's not your fault, given it was your first time using it. But had you been more experienced, and more alert, you would see that he was aware of its presence and aimed a bit to the right. He would've walked right into it, and the bolt would've hit him straight in the chest. That's what you want to always aim for, the chest or the head."

I was still having trouble buying it. "So you're saying...that ten percent, with the right aim, would've killed Atlas?"

Zeus chuckled humorlessly. "Is it so hard to believe, Matt? You've seen the might it possesses. In terms of raw offensive power, it is unmatched."

"Okay, fine, ten percent. I got it. But still, even if I use the correct amount of energy needed...doesn't my body still get affected? Wouldn't my limit of shots just be a bit more?"

"Using a fully powered bolt back-to-back will limit you, yes. But with calculated shots, and healing, you can make it work. Like I said, it's wise to use it sparingly, no matter what. And if you must use it at full power, then do it. But take necessary measures once the battle is over. And also, you have to get used to its feeling. When you utilize the bolt, it's only for a short period of time. You need to familiarize yourself with its power."

I nodded, "Okay, then. What do I do first?"

"Activate it." Zeus ordered. "Mix it with your own aura, as you've done before."

I did as he said, excited to finally be mixing the bolt's energy in there. It was my most powerful state, and the most exhilarating. I knew it was only meant for extreme situations, but man, it's pretty thrilling to be filled with such energy, especially after this training.

And boy, I could tell that I'd gotten stronger. A great deal stronger.

I summoned energy from the watch that contained the weapon. Blue aura and lightning came from it, surrounding my red aura like a coat. Both whirred and meshed together with beautiful, bright light. I smirked at the display.

"Okay, this is awesome." I looked at my hands in disbelief. "I've gotten so much stronger! Man you weren't kidding about the amplifier thing!"

But Zeus remained serious. "Focus, Matt. This isn't the time to admire your progress."

"Sorry. What's next?"

"Summon the bolt itself."

I hesitated, but Zeus gave me an encouraging nod. I only had one shot left, but...if he says it'll work, then I should go for it. Slowly, I wrapped my hand around the watch, and locked on to the bolt's massive energy. With a physical, and mental tug, I pulled it out of it's little socket.

The bright blue cylinder appeared in my palm, and I held it up next to me. The bolt is an amazing sight if you get to see it. A mortal probably couldn't stand to look at it, since it's pretty much as bright as the sun. Lightning always bounces off of it too, like it can't help but leak loose power.

"Alright. I want you to feel its energy. And I mean really feel its energy. Once you do, I want you to calm it with your own aura. Bring it down a few notches."

I glanced back and forth nervously between the bolt and Zeus. "Uh, you want me to overpower it with my own aura? Isn't that dangerous? And...impossible?"

He sighed, "I want you to calm it. Not overpower it. There's a difference."

I wasn't so sure. I could already see me messing up, mixing my own energy with the bolt's and getting fried.

Zeus sensed my nervousness. "Matt, it'll be okay. You won't get hurt, I promise."

"But how can I even calm something like this? It's not sentient. I can't speak to it like I do Kyros."

"Matt, it may not be sentient, but it knows my energy. It was created solely for me. Any direct offspring of mine is the same way. The bolt would recognize your father, as it recognizes you. It would recognize my daughter Thalia, and be as comfortable with her as me."

I trusted his words, but that didn't make me any less worried about what would happen. Still though, this was for the greater good. I had to at least try.

So, carefully, I broke through the bolt's barrier with my aura, and snuck inside it.

When I felt it's true power, it was like standing in a universe of energy.

Swirling, crackling, condensed energy that never stopped moving. Like a world where its inhabitants are lightspeed fast, and never stop bouncing off the walls.

Not literally, but if I closed my eyes, I could imagine standing in a world of blue, with my senses on fire.

"Whoa..." I shook my head, eyes still closed. "...It's like an entire world of...aura. Pure aura."

"And it goes beyond even that." Zeus said. "That's what you're throwing every time you use it. So you need to tone it down."

I understood now. No wonder this thing could kill me. No wonder I had only five shots. I've been using all of this energy with each throw.

"Yeah, I get it now."

"Let it mix with your own energy. When you do, it will recognize it and calm down."

I could feel the barrier between my own aura and the bolt's. A wall as thin as a spider's web, but somehow it held the bolt's power from escaping, and my own from going through.

But the barrier is mine. I can decide to break it if I want, and if I do, it only takes a little push.

"Easy." I whispered, "Just take it easy..."

I pushed with as little strength as I could, and the wall broke like plaster, breaking from the center, and expanding with my pillar of energy.

As soon as my aura broke through, I felt immediate resistance. The bolt's energy was unlike anything I've ever felt. I had no idea where this power even came from in the first place, but it had to be Chaos, or something similar, because it seemed infinite. There was no way I could calm this thing down.

I could practically see it. David versus Goliath, my little ball of energy standing against the enormous power of the bolt. Once they met, the bolt completely obliderated my power, overtaking it.

My body felt said obliteration too. The sensation of combustion completely invaded my nerves, a migraine came onto my head. I had no choice in the matter, before I knew it, I'd fallen to my knees screaming in pain.

"Gah! I-Is it supposed to hurt this much-AGH!"

"Don't fight against it!" Zeus instructed through the ringing in my ears. "Let it enter you!"

"Enter me?!" I screamed. "That doesn't sound safe!"

"Just do it!"

Well, he really hasn't led me wrong so far. I'm still alive after all.

But the fact that that's the standard is probably not the best thing.

But still alive. Still alive. Hopefully I'll be after this.

I eased the tension I hadn't even known was there. I let down every wall, even the rest of the barrier, and let the bolt's power overtake me completely.

At that, my body straightened, my arms flew out to my side, and I couldn't move my head. I looked like I was being exorcised. And for a split second, it hurt even worse than before, but not for long. It all went away in an instant.

I felt normal again. Too normal. No way it could've been that easy.

"Matt, you did it. Look."

I opened my eyes slowly and they trailed towards the light, the much dimmer light of the bolt.

Before, it looked like I was holding a small sun, but now it looked like I held...well, a lightning bolt. It was still bright, but now you could actually manage to stare at it for a few seconds, the whirring sound it emitted was quieter, and the power it held was much, much weaker.

I brought the bolt in front of my face and admired it. "So, this is the toned-down version. Nice."

Zeus walked around me to stand in front. "Don't underestimate it. It still holds more than enough power for most opponents. Now, I want you get used to it. Throw it at me."

I nearly questioned the request, but to be honest, this is Zeus we're talking about. He'll be fine.

I reached out with my opposing hand and aimed towards Zeus, placing his chest in the crook between my thumb and finger. Once I became completely still, I threw my arm as hard as possible, and released the bolt with perfect timing. There couldn't have been a better shot.

With the bolt's speed, you never see it fly through the air. It travels far faster than even I can discern and appears as an instantaneous lightning strike. This was no different. A blue arc flashed between Zeus and I, but it ended right in front of him.

Once the light went away, and the thunder cracked, my sight was left with Zeus holding the bolt, one handed.

He'd caught it before it even hit him. "Good. A perfect throw. How do you feel?"

"No different. I'm not drained at all." It was surprising to say, because usually after I throw the bolt, it feels like I've literally thrown everything I have outside of my body.

"Exactly." He smirked, and threw it back at me. I caught it and snatched it back in position. "Do it again."

"Here goes!" I pitched it again, so hard that my entire arm vibrated. Zeus caught it with ease.

"Excellent. Now power up with the bolt's energy. The normal level that you always use."

"Alright, sounds easy enough-"

"But you have to throw the bolt, and retain the amplifier. Oh, and the bolt can't be thrown at the same power as your amplifier."

I shook my head quickly. "Uh...okay, I think I got all that."

Zeus gave me no time to even remember what he said. "Go!" He tossed the bolt up high in the air, and my body acted on its own. I started running forward in a jog, jumping up to catch the bolt just before it fell.

I kicked my legs to somersault and powered up, mixing my aura and the bolt's together. I felt it's amplifier as I always do, now to throw it without using full power...

It knows me. It's familiar to me...which means it bends to my will, just like it bends to Zeus's.

I smirked. This thing may have been Zeus's once, and even my older counterpart's, but now it's mine. I control it.

Thinking this, I threw the bolt downward. But the effect wasn't what I intended. It struck far too brightly, and the power level was far too high. I saw Zeus's eyes widen, and before the light struck him, he stuck out both palms to stop it.

There was a huge crash, the sound of an atom bomb and a shockwave that sent me flying.

I backflipped and soared from the island, across the sea. "OH SHI-"

Couldn't finish that sentence. I smacked into a wave and plummeted underwater. Darkness came in front of me and my clothes got heavy. My first thought wasn't that I messed up the attack, it was that I knew I'd gone back to where I started. Getting wet. Just like earlier.

Annoyed at the mistake, I shot out of the ocean at top speed, hovering a hundred feet over the surface.

I looked left and right, finding the island with one turn. Well, I say island, but it actually wasn't visible. It had been replaced with a giant beam of blue light, billowing towards outer space. That was the bolt, I knew it. Zeus must still be struggling with it!

Next to it all, was Kyros. He had been sleeping this entire time, but obviously something like that would've woke him up. He flapped his wings wildly and cawed, likely for me.

"Oh gods..." I mumbled. With a flex of energy, I flew towards the island. "Hang on, grandfather!"

I reached the island in a millisecond, but something stopped me from going further, like I'd hit a titanium dome.

"STAY BACK!" Zeus shouted. Though I couldn't see him, I knew he had stopped me with his mind. There was nothing I could do, I had to float there, dripping wet, and watch him take this on by himself.

But finally, after a minute or so, Zeus managed to calm the bolt down, it's light died out and sucked itself back into the bolt's shape. Still in Zeus's hand.

He actually looked a bit shaken. I must've really taken him off guard with that slip up.

He was even breathing heavily. "That's...not what I had in mind, Matt."

I landed softly on the sand, hands up, silently hoping he wouldn't return fire.

"Sorry about that...my hand slipped."

Kyros flew back down and pecked me in the arm.

"Sorry, buddy."

"No, it didn't." Zeus stared at me, an intense look that told me yep, he's about to get mad. I braced myself for a good punch to the nose, but then I heard him sigh.

"Matt, you can't look at the bolt as something to control. Something that you're elevated over." He held it up and spun it around. "You have to work with it, as equals. Treat it like a friend. Like Viribus. Do you fear Viribus?"

I shook my head. "No, of course not."

"Do you fear the bolt?"

I shrugged, not wanting to say it, but I couldn't lie.

"I mean...a little. I'm just worried about something like that happening. I wouldn't say I'm scared, just leery of its power."

He chuckled, and walked over to me, holding the bolt at chest level. "Well, don't be leery of it, and it won't be leery of you. Fight together, as one."

Staring at it, I saw that all of the light had gone out in it. It was dull, and almost dead, just a shell shaped like a lightning bolt.

But then it surprised me. At the center, a small blue light flickered, held, and then slowly faded, all in one moment. Then, it did it again. Soon, the pattern became like a heartbeat.

Like a heartbeat...

"The bolt's...alive. It's as alive as me, or you, or, or-"

I looked up at him to see him smiling down at me. "Some weapons aren't just weapons. They're extensions of ourselves. Parts of ourselves that we trust. Do you trust the bolt?"

I couldn't help but grin at the bolt. Seeing it like this, in a different light, made me feel at peace. It felt like I was looking at a picture of an old friend. I'd never seen it so calm.

"I do." I confirmed, and took it gently from him.

"The bolt is like a fighter. Like you, it has different sides and faces. One of rage and fury, and one of serenity and peace. It matches your emotions, and it understands perfectly what you think of it."

"I see. The bolt is a part of me. As much as my heart, brain, or anything else."

"Yes." He backed up a few paces. "Now, try again."

"Good!"

Zeus shouted encouragements as I ran around him, jumped over him, and flew in the air, at all angles, throwing the Master bolt like a madman.

You know, it doesn't really do well to my morale when with each shot, perfectly aimed to the chest, Zeus doesn't even bother to block or deflect. Especially when you've been doing it for hours on end.

No, he just lets each one hit him, and I summon back the bolt, firing it again. But, if anybody's gonna do it, I guess it should be him. Makes sense. It's like that thing with cops. In order to become one, you have to take a taser shot at least once. Just to know what it feels like.

Which is exactly what was coming.

"Brace yourself!" Zeus said. I threw the bolt again, and instead of letting it hit him on the chest, he caught it, spun around, and threw it back at me.

I took in a deep breath, brought up my hands, and planted my feet. Here it comes...

The bolt soared across the distance instantly, I felt it's intense heat on my palms, and the tremendous force behind it. Even toned down, it felt like the entire world pushing against me.

"Remember, don't fight it!" Zeus shouted.

"Right!" Instead of pushing back, I released all tension in my arms. Like Zeus said before, the bolt matched my emotions, and it calmed down. It didn't want to fight me. It knows me. It's against its very nature to attack me, so unless I resist, it won't do anything.

The bolt fell limp at my ease, I caught it before it could hit the ground. "Nice."

Zeus nodded, his hands on his hips. "Good job, Matt. You've completed your training with the Master Bolt."

I fought the urge to jump up and down like a little kid. After five days, I'm finally done.

"Wow, I...I can't believe it. It feels like I've been here way longer. I've learned so much."

"Well, it has technically been five years. At least, here it has."

I didn't really know what to say. During everything, I was so focused on getting it right, it never really hit me just how privileged I am, to get an opportunity like this. This is really something absolutely nobody has ever, or probably will ever, experience.

But most of all, Zeus took time to help me. I mean, it may have been for his backup plan originally, but I honestly feel like a part of him really did enjoy spending time together, and maybe...a little thrilled to share some of his knowledge, and actually teach someone for once. I know I got a lot from it.

I tried to express this the best I could. "Grandfather, before I go-"

"Matt, hang on. Before you get ahead of yourself, I have one more lesson for you."

"Oh, okay." I straightened, putting the Master Bolt back in the watch. "I'm ready."

He smiled humorlessly. "It actually...has to do with the bolt."

"Oh! My bad." I reached to activate the bolt again, but Zeus stopped me.

"No, no, it's not a physical exercise. It's an explanation of a technique. All you need to do is listen, and listen carefully."

I retracted my hand. "Oh, I get it. What's the technique?"

Zeus's face hardened ten shades. He stared at me, a deathly serious gaze. "This is not to be taken lightly whatsoever, Matt. Listen to every single word that I say, and remember it. Remember this if you don't remember anything else from these five days."

My smile fell. "Uh...alright, I'll remember."

"First of all, this technique is a last resort. Strictly, the very last thing you ever want to do in a battle. That means if you're on death's door, without any option left, nowhere to run, no allies left to help, and drained of energy...the situation must be ten times worse than that in order to use this technique."

"But how can a situation be worse than that?"

"Listen!"

"Sorry!"

He pinched the bridge of his nose. "At the end of your rope in a fight, is this technique considerable. That's my point."

I wanted to tell him to get on with it already but kept my manners. Don't disrespect your elders, if you can help it.

Unfortunately, sometimes your elders have mind reading abilities. "I'm only trying to get the seriousness of this across. Do you understand, Matt?"

"Yeah, I got it. Only use as a last resort."

"Good. Now, the technique itself is actually a state that I can enter. I call it Godspeed. Silly, I know, but I came up with it when I was younger, in my first battle with Porphyrion, the Giant King. That's also the only time I've ever entered this state."

I didn't talk, I just listened on. Fascinated.

Zeus made a gesture with his hand, and all around us, a simulation began to play. It was like virtual reality, or one of my visions, where you feel like you're actually in it.

It depicted a mountain, miles taller than the ones surrounding it, with a huge city on top, dozens of houses, temples, and a main palace that could dwarf...

Wait a second. This all looks familiar.

"Is that-"

"Olympus? Yes, it is."

I was in awe. It looked just like the one I knew, only...so far out in the open, like its own little world. And New York didn't surround it either.

"This was in the days of old, during our war with the Giants. Watch closely."

I could hardly pay attention to the appearance of Old Olympus, because some serious action was happening on the side of the mountain.

Both Zeus and I had our heads craned up to watch two figures sliding down the mountain like snowboarders, crossing each other's path occasionally, creating shockwaves every time they did.

Up on Olympus, there seemed to be a massive war being waged. The shouts and roars of several warriors rang down the mountain, along with metal clanging and explosions. With that kind of chaos, I'm surprised the city hadn't fallen completely.

"What's going on up there?"

"The rest of the battle. Gods versus Giants. This was their first invasion. But don't look up there, focus down here."

I switched my gaze to the two individuals again. They weren't sliding down the mountain anymore, they'd jumped in the air, and now I could make out a size difference. The larger, more alien looking one grabbed the smaller, normal looking one by the legs and threw him to the ground.

Rocks flew all over the place, the man sat up in a crater.

It was a younger Zeus. As in, much younger. He had no beard, no wrinkles, his hair was a bit shorter, and even whiter, if I'm not mistaken. I'd never seen Zeus without a beard before, so it was a bit jarring to see a smooth lip and chin.

But right now, young Zeus didn't look so hot. His toga had been ripped in several places, his lip was busted open, a gash across his head, and a series of bruises and cuts littered on his chest. I couldn't believe it. I never thought I would see such a thing, Zeus beaten down and on the defensive.

Before he could think about getting up, his opponent landed hard in front of him, shaking the ground both in the memory and here. Young Zeus stiffened and backed up on his rear, looking up at the behemoth with wide eyes.

Said behemoth swiped the air with his hand, clearing all the brown dust from view, giving me a look at him.

"That's Porphyrion." Zeus offered, just as I saw him.

The Giant King was...giant. He made even Atlas look small, and the giants that I fought in Tartarus tiny. Maybe fifty feet tall, or a little less, though it hardly mattered. He could've matched Zeus's height and he would still look unnerving. Half of him appeared human-ish, in shape and muscle frame, but there were other parts that made him look like he was from another planet. Long, dreaded hair, arms, eyes, nose and mouth, all normal. But two reptilian like legs, leathery skin, and eyes that vortexed with black chaos, not so normal.

It was clear he controlled the battle. He looked virtually unscathed, aside from a few small cuts, and one bruise across the cheek, while Zeus seemed to be on death's door.

He snarled at Zeus, then bellowed a thunderous laugh. "Get up, puny god! Gaea promised me a worthy opponent in you, and I'm not taking your life until you prove yourself worthy!"

I cringed. Gods, his voice even matched his appearance. It sounded like if you shoved a microphone down the stomach of a buffalo.

Porphyrion sauntered over and grabbed an ichor coughing Zeus by the hair, yanking him to eye level.

"Or are you not worthy, god king?"

Zeus's face contorted with rage, Porphyrion, distracted with laughing, didn't see the Master Bolt coming right at him.

It hit him square in the chest, lightning crackled all over his body, sending him back a dozen feet, but not on his rear. He took it and stood firm.

Zeus stood shakily. If Porphyrion wanted to make him fall, all he'd have to do is blow out a gust of air. Although I'm not sure what would do the trick first. The force of the air, or his breath...

The Master Bolt returned to its rightful owner, and Zeus coughed again. "As long as I stand, Olympus stands! Gaea, nor you, will prevail today!"

"Prevail?! Screw Olympus, I just want to kill you!" Porphyrion balled up his fists, smiling wickedly. "That's what I was created to do after all!"

"Kill me? Many have tried. You won't be the first." Zeus disappeared in a flash of blue, circling around the Giant King. I couldn't spot him, he was moving too fast, but Porphyrion didn't seem to be having the same trouble.

"HAHA!" Though the blue flash appeared in front of him, he turned around and hammer fisted the area behind him. He must've timed it perfectly, because he caught Zeus on the top of his skull.

The king of the gods crumpled and cried out in pain. Porphyrion grabbed his leg and brought his entire body in one arc, not letting go until Zeus's head hit the ground.

Zeus lay there on his side, absolutely battered. I honestly had no idea what was gonna happen here, well, I figured he didn't die, but still, this seemed pretty hopeless.

"It was." Zeus confirmed. Okay, I gotta be careful with what I think around him. "But that'll change in about a minute. Watch."

Porphyrion shook his head, "Pathetic. I can't believe you're their king. You don't deserve such a title." He hefted his giant foot back and kicked Zeus hard in the ribs.

Spinning and tumbling on his opposite side, Zeus weakly reached his hand out to summon the dropped Master Bolt back. Once it reached his hand, he stared at it, not focusing on his opponent anymore.

"That guy's gonna kill you. Why are you looking at the bolt?"

"Watch. This is where I discovered Godspeed."

I was sort of on the edge of my seat here. Which is kind of weird, since it's a memory, and I know things turn out alright, but it's shocking to see someone so powerful get beaten. Man, it must've been a shock to the gods too. Imagine a group of big, ugly monsters come flying in at your doorstep and inform you they were literally born to kill you. Can't say I would've taken that too well.

Zeus propped his arm up and got his feet under him. Somehow, without falling over, he stood up, Master Bolt outstretched and gripped tight.

"What will you do with that?" Porphyrion taunted. "Throw it at me again?"

Then Zeus did something that surprised me completely. He shoved the bolt right into his chest, specifically where his heart should be.

The cylinder of energy tore straight through his skin, touching his heart like a hot knife to butter. Zeus shouted in agony, but didn't dare pull back on the self inflicted attack. I couldn't believe it, because that's...exactly what I saw in my vision.

No wonder he gave a reaction. He's done that before! He knows what that is!

But if this is the way to attain Godspeed, or whatever form he's talking about...does that mean the vision is telling the future? Is that the way to beat Ouranos?

Zeus eventually mustered up the strength to shove the entirety of the bolt inside him. Lightning erupted from his skin, eyes, and mouth. If I didn't know any better, I would've thought he was literally becoming lightning itself. And maybe he was for all I know.

Finally, he stopped shouting. Whatever agony had been stopped, and Zeus was fine.

More than fine. He looked invigorated. He radiated power and wind, his hair stood straight up, spiky and still, not even moving to the side an inch. All across his body, he had blue, zig zagging lines, like tree branches, or blood veins, all leading back to his chest, where one single, blue circle sat. It was the outline of where his heart was. That was the bolt.

I'd never imagined anything like it. Fusing your own power with the Master Bolt's. It seemed insane, and there had to be some other way to do it than...stabbing yourself with it. I get becoming one with your weapon, but that's taking it a bit too far.

Either way, it must've given him insane power. His wounds were healed, and Porphyrion looked scared.

"What is this? What kind of trick have you pulled?!"

Zeus didn't speak, he just glared at the Giant, eyes glowing a dangerous white.

At the silence, Porphyrion shouted. "I don't care what you do! I'm going to kill you!" He roared from his gut and charged Zeus, but Zeus treated the action like a walk in the park. He made no movement to block or dodge until the last minute, and he didn't dodge.

He moved so fast, that the action appeared instantaneous. Porphyrion's right arm came down with a punch, but once Zeus got a hold of it, it had been cut in half.

The bottom flew in the air, never to be seen again, while Porphyrion gripped his arm in pain.

"AGH! DAMN YOU!"

The giant turned far too quick for his size, and aimed to uppercut Zeus in the chin, but his fist slammed right on his chest. Zeus didn't budge.

Shockwaves were sent in all directions, shaking the very mountain Olympus stood on. Porphyrion couldn't believe it.

"Y-You changed...how did you change?"

Zeus, again, didn't provide an answer. He just walked towards Porphyrion menacingly.

The giant scrambled backwards in fear, falling and tripping on his way. It was too late to try and run. Zeus pulled his hand back like he was going to throw the Master Bolt, but a regular lightning bolt appeared instead, long and bright, stretching all the way from the sky to his hand.

He aimed for Porphyrion's back, and his aim was true. The blast smited the giant to smithereens, and enveloped him with blue light.

The memory was over. Abruptly, Zeus stopped it, making me flinch.

I turned to stare at him. He was quiet.

"You knew what my vision was about, didn't you?"

"I did. But it wasn't time to tell you."

"So...what happened? You killed Porphyrion, right?"

"I did. And then I flew to the city, and killed all of the giants there too."

"Awesome!" I beamed. Why didn't he tell me about this sooner? "You singlehandedly ended the war!"

"I ended that battle." He corrected. "I gained incredible power by fusing with the bolt, but at a great cost. It nearly killed me. And would have, if not for the combined healing of Apollo and Asclepius. Even then, I was bedridden for weeks." He took in a deep breath, continuing. "The giants reformed, and returned to fight again, but by that point, I had grown strong enough on my own, that I didn't need Godspeed. After it's devastating effect, I promised myself that I would never use it again."

"But it gave you that awesome power!" I argued. "And you didn't die!"

"Matt, first of all, I'm a god. I can heal faster than you, naturally, might I add. Second, I had help from the two best healers in the universe. And still, I remained on death's door. Imagine what such an effect would do to you."

I sunk a little. He was right. But the thought that something so powerful is right on my wrist, and all I have to do is fuse with it...

I could beat Ouranos in one hit.

"I know it sounds amazing. And yes, you can do it too, just like I did, but know that if you do...you will die."

"Then why are you telling me?"

"Just in case. It's a last resort, remember? Only use it when you have no other option left. I pray it never comes to that. I pray that I am able to stop Ouranos before you even have to look at him. But you never know. Anything can happen."

"So I would just...shove it into my chest? How long would the form last?"

"It lasted about fifteen minutes for me before I could feel my soul slipping away."

Fifteen minutes? That wasn't a long time. But with that kind of power, I really only needed about one or two to finish the job.

Zeus leaned down and placed his hands on my shoulders. "Put Godspeed in the back of your mind. I want you to trust in your own strength above all else. Alright?"

It was kind of hard not to think about Godspeed after that memory scene, but I tried my best to shove it on the back burner. I had learned a lot of cool stuff here, but...that kind of steals the show. A fusion with the Master Bolt that closes that big of a gap? That's Ananke level power right there.

But at the cost of my own life. And even if I managed to survive, who knows what kind of state I'd be in? A wheelchair or a coma would probably be lucky.

No, Zeus is right. I can't do it. I can't focus on one little thing at the end of the five days, not when I've learned how to grow my own strength. The power that belongs solely to me.

So I nodded at him. "I will. Thank you, grandfather."

My first instinct was to hug him, but then I remembered my friends. My training was done. I could go help them now!

"Oh man, my friends!" I backed up and scrambled over my words. "I gotta go help them! Thanks again, grandfather! I'll try to repay you for this someday!"

But just as I turned around, Zeus was there. He'd teleported right in front of me.

I bounced off his chest and fell on my back. He looked...angry.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Huh? "To Japan! I'm going to help everyone!"

He had his arms crossed, his eyebrows knit in anger, and lightning sparking from his fingers. What was he doing?

"You're not just walking out of the door. Not without going through me."

"What?! We don't have time for this! They could be in trouble!"

"They could. Which means you'd better find a way to get past me."

I shot up, pissed off now. He really wanted to pull something like this? Ouranos could be close to killing everybody for all I know!

"I'm not wasting time! Now get out of my way!"

I tried to storm past him, but he reached out and pushed me with his entire forearm, knocking me back to square one.

Wind blew past my face. I had to cover my forehead to get a good look at what was going on. Zeus had changed into his prime form, from a suit and dark hair, to a toga and white hair. All topped off with glowing eyes.

My jaw fell open in disbelief. He only used this against his enemies, in a serious fight. He wanted to fight me, for real?

"That's right." He growled. "Show me the fruits of your training. I want to see if this was a waste of time or not!"

I gritted my teeth. "Fine!" Balling up my fists and straining my muscles, I summoned my aura and activated the bolt at the same time. This was full power. If he wanted it, I'd give it to him.

Zeus nodded, pointing behind him. "That's the door. You touch it, you get to leave. Until you do, you stay here. I don't care if it takes days or weeks. We will keep going."

"Oh don't worry, it won't take long!" I jumped at him mid-shout. Like I've done so many times before, I began to create a strategy on the fly. First, I jumped high so he'd think I'm going over him, and I am, but he doesn't know what's about to hit him.

Without moving my hands, I locked onto his aura. With telekinesis, I yanked on his upper body, pulling him down. It gave me enough room to glide right over him and land into a run on the ground.

Just as I sprinted like there would be no tomorrow, I felt an invisible hand wrap around my midsection and yank me back.

On the ground, I had a perfect view of the sky, but blocking the sky was Zeus, his body turned upside down, and his fist aimed towards me.

I rolled out of the way just in time before his punch crashed down on the sand. His aura condensed just enough to keep it from destroying the island. No, it would've all been aimed at me, and probably tore my face off.

"Are you serious?" I didn't even scream or shout. I was in disbelief. "You're actually trying to hurt me?"

Zeus pulled his fist from the small crater and stood tall. "That's right. Don't hold back! Show me how powerful you've gotten!" Without warning, he came at me in a lunge. I'll be honest, knowing that Zeus himself is about to attack you seriously, doesn't really do good to one's confidence.

His punch was too fast and clean, it cleared the area over my defense with ease, like he'd reached into a little pocket to hit me in the jaw. Pain coursed through my head and face, I barely remained standing.

He came at me again, but this time I was ready to counter. I stepped forward and shifted all of my weight into a return punch. Zeus saw right through it, and grabbed my bicep.

I felt myself get yanked into a devastating blow. His kneecap dug itself in my gut, making me nauseous on impact.

But he made a mistake. That, or he was just trying to throw me a bone, because I doubt Zeus often makes mistakes. Either way, bone or not, I took advantage of his leg being there.

I wrapped my arms around it and kicked out his other leg. Bashing his gut with my shoulder, it all made for a perfect takedown.

Once he was on his back, I threw my legs forward and flipped off of him into a sprint.

But I didn't just leave him without some kind of barrier. I turned around mid-sprint to see him getting up. Man, he recovered fast. I reached out with my aura and mixed it with his, just like before. There was resistance, but I managed to keep him down for a few seconds.

I might've made it to the door if I were faster at running backwards, but Zeus wasn't going to let me that easily. He roared, and the telekinetic barrier broke. He'd destroyed it.

"If you're opponent possesses the same ability, then you're going to have to get creative!" He stuck his hand towards the sky and pulled it down. Following his motion, a bright flash of lightning came down right behind me, sending a stinging heat wave all the way from my neck to my lower back.

I ignored the slight pain, even though my clothes had probably been burned. Zeus was gaining on me, making pace with a light jog. I knew if I tried to run he'd just blitz me and attack again. I had to keep him at bay while backing up at the same time.

I put my hands out in front of me, and latched my aura onto the air to my right. I began to spin it, creating enough friction to open up a portal...

But Zeus knew what I was doing, he disappeared from view, not in a blur, but teleportation. I had that too. If I were to evade this blow, I'd have to use it to, and maybe I can make it to the door!

No, too risky. Zeus will know what I'm thinking. No, I need to incapacitate him somehow, on some level, to get out of here.

Zeus reappeared behind me, just like I predicted, his fist was coming down before he even appeared. But then, I was already gone.

I teleported myself twenty feet back, and wasted no time in summoning the trump card.

Placing my hand on the watch, I felt the warmth of the bolt fire up in my palm. It's like a motion I've done every day of my life now, calming the bolt to a tame state. I just have to brush its aura with mine, and it knows what to do. But granted, I'd probably need full power to even distract Zeus.

No second spent on anything else. I aimed right at my target, and threw.

But Zeus had similar plans. To my surprise, he summoned his Master Bolt and threw it too, in much faster succession than I was capable of.

The two bolts met in the middle of us, clashing and struggling mid-air, without falling to the ground. I'd never seen anything like it, nor did I ever think I would. Two Master Bolts in a struggle, because usually, there's only one per universe. It's Zeus's sole weapon. This might be the first time it's ever happened.

Boy, did it really leave a mark. I could tell Zeus was also doing his best to keep the destruction at a minimum, using telekinesis to keep the aura dispersion at bay. Better than me, because some of my bolt's stray sparks were shooting up into the sky, parting the clouds and heating up the ozone layer. Which I guess really doesn't matter, since this isn't the real world.

As the bolt's shook and pushed against one another, Zeus and I circled them.

"You're quick, but you'll have to give everything you've got if you want to get out of here!" He shouted. "Use all of your training!"

When he said that, something clicked in me.

I remembered the last few days, everything that we did.

Use it all at once. That would be my way out of here. If I wanted to get Zeus out of the way, not beat him, but move him, I'd have to give it everything I had. And what I had, was all right here with me.

The bolt's struggle hadn't changed. They were of equal power, and neither side was going to win. As cool as it looked, I had to cut it short. Using my mind, I summoned it back into my hand.

Alright. Use everything I've got. All of my training.

As if on cue, Kyros spoke to me through my head, starting with a yawn.

Young master, are you guys about done yet? I'm ready to leave.

Yeah, just another minute. I actually- wait, how the hell did you go back to sleep?

I'm a tired bird. I'm very busy.

Busy with what- oh, nevermind! Listen, I need you for a second, buddy. Can you help me?

Maybe...

I groaned inwardly. I'll give you a dozen treats! I need you to help distract Zeus on my command, got it?

To my pleasant surprise, he didn't even hesitate. I can do it! What first?

Man, those treats must really sweeten the deal for him. Don't know why though, they don't taste all that good. And before you get all judgmental and call me gross, I ate one on a dare from Talon. Wasn't my idea.

I'll tell you. For now, just act natural.

I hadn't even paid attention to where Kyros ended up sleeping during the rest of my training, but he had to be on the island somewhere. I could only trust that he'd come through for me. He was a big part of the plan.

Zeus was getting impatient. I had been standing there for a good minute. "Well, what's the next move? Your friends could be in trouble!"

I smirked. With my free hand, I took off my necklace and shifted it to Viribus, the club made of wood from the Adam Tree. One of the most reliable weapons in the world.

Holding both it and the Master Bolt, I felt like I could really do this. I had the perfect plan.

First lesson. Mental strength.

I had to realize that I had a shot at this. I could move Zeus and get through that door. I've gotten so much stronger since I've been here, I just don't know it's true lengths yet, because I haven't truly been tested. The closest thing has been this little fight, and already, I've improved based on that. Zeus's punch before this training session probably would've killed me. But a few minutes ago, I managed to take it without even falling down. That's progress.

Second part of the first lesson. Physical strength.

I raised both fists in the air, still holding both weapons, and slammed them down on the sand, not holding back. The entire island began sinking into the sea, the shockwave that I produced parted the entire ocean, making three-hundred-foot-tall waves that fell back to edges of the horizon. This seemingly infinite pocket dimension actually shook from my action.

Which caught Zeus off guard. The force of the blow, and the island literally melting into the water, caused him to stumble off balance. Good, good, the plan's working.

Second lesson. The Red Beam Cannon.

I interlocked my palms and pushed them out, immediately sawing the air with my aura. It all happened so fast, I couldn't believe that it was actually me doing this. It was surreal.

But I couldn't stop, if it was working, I had to go with it. Two separate rifts were created, holes in dimensions about the size of my torso, with nothing but darkness on the other side. Still, they were filled with energy. I had about a minute or so before they would close on me and become too much, but I only needed about five seconds to create a devastating cannon, to even Zeus.

I drew as much energy as I could in those five seconds, and it made the red ball of the cannon grow to the size of my own body. Used to, if I had that much energy pent up in my hands, it would get wild, and grow to the size of the entire island. But now that I have better control, I can condense it.

"Here goes! Red Beam Cannon!" The energy let loose from my hands and shot towards Zeus faster than light. It hit him, right on the money, not one square inch of his body missed. While I held the cannon, I sprinted over to the door, about halfway there.

I can make it!

I held it for as long as I could, but Zeus wasn't just gonna sit there and let me do whatever I wanted. I heard his deep voice roar out, even over the loud sound that the cannon made. With a powerful swipe of his hand, he managed to deflect the blast into the sky.

He reared his hand back, heat building up in his palm...he was going for another lightning bolt!

Good, that's exactly what I was banking on. Another ranged attack.

Third lesson. Telepathy.

Kyros! I called.

Wherever he was, he perked up. Yes? Is it time?

It's time! Go, now!

I realized in that split moment that I never specified on what to do to Zeus, just to distract him. I hope whatever Kyros does works.

Just as Zeus started to throw his hand forward, an already formed coil of fresh lightning on his fingers, Kyros came from nowhere, swooping down out of the sky and throwing himself at the Olympian King's arm.

The force of Kyros's momentum, along with the sheer unexpected entrance, was enough to distract Zeus, just as I hoped for. His entire body recoiled sideways, and the lightning bolt had already been blasted in the wrong direction, missing me by about five feet.

Yes! Good job bud!

No problem! Now go! Reach that door so we can get out of here!

I was three quarters of the way there now. So close...if I jumped I might be able to reach it...

"You haven't succeeded yet!" Zeus said, his voice echoing across the entirety of the dimension it seemed. I turned back and glanced at him, to see Kyros flying through the air and crash landing on the sinking sand at the edge of the water.

"Kyros!"

"Here, Matt! Sneak your way out of this!" Zeus lifted his hand up, and the Master Bolt appeared.

Crap, he was about to throw it again. I'm mid-run! If it comes fast enough, I won't be able to block it in time.

But wait...I don't have to use my bolt against it. I just have to combine techniques.

Fourth and fifth lesson. Telekinesis, and Mastering the Bolt.

I immediately knew what to do. By the time I put my bolt back in its watch, Zeus had already thrown his at me. If anyone was watching right now, they'd probably scream at me to not do what I'm about to do. But I knew it was the right thing. Why? Instinct.

I knew that if I wanted this to work, I couldn't rely on eyesight. I had to use my sixth sense. I closed my eyes, and felt for the bolt's aura. Drowning out all sound down to a single drop of water on the sand, I stood in pure silence, my own little dimension of tranquility. The bolt's aura soared across the space between Zeus and I in slow motion, I knew exactly where to place my aura.

Using the telekinetic technique he taught me; I caught the bolt mid-air with my own aura. And once they felt each other, the bolt didn't resist. I knew it would, because like he said, it knows me. It won't harm me, and I'm using that to my advantage.

His bolt worked with me now, not him. It wasn't really that much of a risk to tell you the truth. The only gamble was that I would be able to catch it, and I knew if I focused, and relied on the senses that matter, I wouldn't fail.

I willed the bolt to circle around my back and aim at Zeus. When I knew it was going to be a straight shot, I sent it flying as hard as I could.

I didn't even wait to see if it hit him or not, I took my chance. Bending my knees and pressing down, I jumped from my spot all the way to the door, wrapping my hand around it before I landed.

There was a noise, a surprised yelp, and then an explosion. I didn't dare open my eyes for a second in fear of being blinded or incinerated. But I could practically taste the heat on my tongue, and definitely feel the wind all over. It was so strong, my body left the ground completely and slammed into the doorframe.

"Kyros! Kyros, you alright?!" I tried to shout through the never-ending thunder that followed, but I didn't hear a mental response, just distant cawing. Well, at least he was alive.

It took a solid minute before the rumbling stopped completely. Man, he must've really put some power into his shot to cause this much of a ruckus. The island had thankfully stopped sinking about halfway into the ocean from the earlier shot, making it look like some kid had messed up his Play-Doh project. No more grass, or palm trees, just a glob of doughy looking terrain.

I kept my hand on the door, but still didn't see Kyros, or Zeus. I started to get a little worried. Maybe that was too much on him. I mean, if that was as bad as it sounded, the bolt must've hit him square in the chest.

It might've been stupid, but I took my hand off the doorhandle and rushed towards the area of the explosion to find everybody. At the end of the day, he was only trying to test me. We were still family. I had to at least make sure he was okay.

"Grandfather? Grandfather! You okay?!"

Right next to me, the sand dust cleared, and I saw Kyros hovering above ground, flapping his wings.

"Kyros! Oh man, I'm glad you didn't get caught in the blast."

That was some trick, young master! Oh, you should've seen the look on Zeus's face!

My smile fell. Zeus, where is he?

On the ground. He said it casually. Just walk forward a bit.

On the ground? That couldn't be good. I turned from Kyros and jogged forward, out of the mini sandstorm I'd created.

In the still scarce sunlight, there was Zeus, laying flat on his back, his own bolt next to his armpit. His chest...I'd actually gotten him, because the surrounding toga material had been torn and burned black. His skin was fine, since it was his own bolt. It wouldn't harm him, just like me. I only meant for it to be a distraction.

But still, he wasn't moving. His eyes were closed. Had the force just knocked him out or something?

I kneeled down beside him and pushed his shoulder. "Grandfather, are you okay?"

No answer.

"Zeus! Zeus, can you hear me?!"

At that, his eyes shot open, not gradually, but instantly. It startled me a little, and I took my hands away immediately. Zeus took in a deep breath, and let it out.

Like nothing happened, he reached over, grabbed his bolt, and dispersed it. Then, he sat up, groaning like an old man, and smiled at me.

"Well done, Matt. That was a great strategy!"

That threw me for a loop, I can't lie. "Are you okay?! I didn't mean for that to-"

"Ah, I'm fine, boy! More than fine! That's what I was looking for! Combining everything you've learned and throwing it into one combo!" He looked down at his burned fabric. "You got me good there with that last one. I really didn't expect that. Why, I haven't been knocked on my ass in years. I'd consider that a great accomplishment, grandson!"

I couldn't help but smile back. Okay, so he's fine, and the whole thing was definitely just a harmless test. "Well...thanks. It just all sort of clicked. I hope you're not mad I used Kyros."

"A warrior uses everything he has. Including allies. I'm not mad at all, that was very clever of you." He looked at Kyros. "Apologies for throwing you like that, bird, but I couldn't go easy on Matt."

Kyros cawed a short burst of words, to Zeus's mind, and the god chuckled.

"What did he say?" I asked.

"He said he'll let it slide this time. Whatever you say, bird."

Kyros spoke to me this time. Tell him to stop calling me that!

I snickered, not relaying the message. Instead, helping Zeus onto his feet.

"So..." I started, a bit nervous that there was more to the test. "...Did I pass? I mean, I touched the door. I don't know if you saw, but-"

He held up a hand, and I shut up. "I saw perfectly what you did. You passed. I'm confident that you'll put the techniques you learned here to good use in battle. Your opponents in Japan won't know what hit them."

I nodded up at him gratefully. "Thank you. I don't really know what to say except...just, thanks for everything. This whole thing has really meant a lot to me." I debated on whether to say the next part, but I went with it anyway, smirking as I did. "I guess you're not so bad after all."

He laughed hard at that, which made me grin harder. Good, he didn't take it the wrong way.

"I know I can be strict, and difficult to be around, but I hope you know it's not because I don't care about our world, you, any of the other gods, or even the mortals. I do care. I've just had to learn a lot along the way and become better at being king. I think what set me back was not having a role model to look up to. No one to teach me how to rule a pantheon. Perhaps if that were the case, I wouldn't have made some of the stupid decisions I did."

"Maybe."

"Not saying that it wasn't my fault. It was. And I regret many of the things I did. But now, all I can do is try to be better for the future." He put a firm hand on my shoulder. "And hope that the next generation is even better than that."

"I'll try my best."

He let go and winked at me. "I know you will." His face shifted abruptly to one of shock, "Oh, that reminds me! I almost forgot to give you this."

"Give me what?"

Zeus snapped his fingers, and my skin felt a different sensation from the torn, dirty fabric of my shirt, pants, and shoes. I looked down to see a completely different appearance. It was a set of torso armor just like my usual one, the model of my father's. Only this was...a bit heavier, but thinner in size. It looked more like a sleeveless shirt than anything, and there wasn't a faded brown color like my dad's, this was dark metallic gray.

And below that, camo fatigues, just like the ones my dad wore, topped off with combat boots, like the ones we have at Camp.

I knocked on the new chestplate with my knuckles. It was hard as a rock, way harder than my previous set. "Whoa...what is this?"

"Universal Titanium. One of the most durable metals in the multiverse. It's indestructible."

My eyes widened. "Yeah, I've dealt with that stuff before." I thought back to Grayson's mech, and how tough that thing was.

"I had Hephaestus make it for you. Took him longer than usual, but it's worth it. No attack should be able to pierce it. Just remember to cover your head. Heh, didn't know if you would like a helmet to match. That doesn't seem to be your style."

As cool as that sounds, nah, I don't really do helmets. "Yeah, it would probably look lame on me. But this doesn't. I love it, grandfather. Thank you."

On impulse, I lunged forward and hugged him. It was quick, and he only had time to pat me on the back as I pulled away. Remembering all of the things we'd been through, how my opinion on him changed so much, and seeing where we are now, in a good place, sort of overloaded me. I had to release the tension somehow.

"You're welcome." He gestured behind me, and snapped his fingers again, placing a new saddle on Kyros's back. "Now you'd better go. Help your friends, Matt, there's no time to waste!"

I nodded, running backwards and grinning like an idiot. "I got it! Thanks again for everything!" I whistled for Kyros. Come on, buddy!

He fell in line beside me, still flying over the ground. Oh, we're leaving now? Sweet!

Zeus stuck his arm over his head and gave a huge wave. "Good luck!"

I got one last look at him before turning towards the door, pushing it open, letting myself and Kyros through, and slamming it shut.

From there, it was a full-on sprint towards the throne room. Kyros and I slid around the corner in the empty cathedral-like space and made way for the outside courtyard.

Alright, Kyros, we're jumping! Be ready to catch me and fly!

What happened to teleporting?!

I've never been to Japan before! Just catch me! You haven't gotten lazy, have you?

That seemed to invigorate him. Me, lazy? Oh, I'll show you lazy! Hop on!

I smirked. We both darted out of the palace and into the courtyard, lit up by the orange sun lowering down into the ground. It was almost nightfall, the end of the five days...

Everyone could be in trouble right now. I had to get there as soon as possible.

Some of the Olympus residents cheered us on, while several just jumped out of our way, I offered several weak apologies to them, but I don't think they heard me.

It hardly mattered. Kyros and I reached the edge of the city in a few seconds. When we did, I didn't even hesitate. I placed my foot on the ledge mid run, and leapt off.

I fell dozens of feet in seconds, and even saw the Empire State Building below, the rest of the city looked like a toy set, we were so high up. The view didn't last long, as Kyros came diving in beside me, snatching me out of the atmosphere.

I landed firm on his saddle. He wasn't kidding about showing me what he had. I'd never seen Kyros go this fast before. We were moving like a ray of light, with the entire city of New York blurring past and becoming a blob in the distance within mere moments.

You know where you're going? I asked, kneeling behind his head so I could see in front of us.

Kyros snorted. Please, I know this planet like the back of my wing. But as far as the specifics go, you'll have to help me. Sense everyone's energy, place it, and point me in the right direction. You can tell if they're alive that way too.

That's...a really good idea. Alright, I'll do it! Just keep flying!

Faster than light, boss. Find their energy, it'll only be a minute!

He was right. At this level of speed, we would be there shortly. I'd have to find their energy fast, not just that, but get ready for what's to come. It's not just Ouranos this time, it could be other gods. I'd need to remember everything, and use it all if I want to help my friends.

My eyes narrowed at the horizon. "I'm coming, guys. Just hold on."

(000)

Matt's on his way. It's time to show off that new power.

Anyway, hope you guys liked it. I sure did enjoy the training arc, and can't wait to give a taste of Matt's new strength.

Until Next Time.
