Darkness. That was all what he could see as he was falling into the abyss. His face was showing the signs of despair, knowing he had just been betrayed. Being a victim, killed by his own classmates. Looking back he realized that whatever he did was for nothing, he was still useless nobody. Maybe that's the reason why he was thrown off.

'Am I alive?'

"Oi Nagumo! Wake up!"

'Or am I dead?'

"Wake up! Nagumo!"

'hu-who's voice is that?'

"NAGUMO WAKE THE HELL UP!"

"Wha? Huh!?" Nagumo wakes up shockingly due to the screaming. Lying down on his back, he can see one of his classmates see one of his classmates was about to punch him.

"Don't you "huh" me! Wake up you freaking dimwit!" Punches Nagumo in the stomach.

"Oof! Ow! What was that for!?" Nagumo asks in an irritated tone.

"For I've been trying to wake you up for freaking minutes!"

"Eh?" Nagumo looks around his surroundings, not recognizing where he is.

"Wha-where are we?"

"Probably 100 floors down from the surface?"

"Wait what?! How?!"

As Nagumo started questioning how he and his classmate are so far down from the surface away from his other classmates, he begins to remember what happened.

He remembers being shot by a fireball from the attack volleys that was trying to stop the behemoth from pursuing him and was knock backed by one of them that landed right in front of him pushing him back with the shockwave to fall along with the Behemoth.

'I remember now…a fireball was aimed right for me, and I fell down from the bridge because of it…'

"Ya remember now?"

"Yeah…I do. Wait, then why are you here, Tojo-kun? You weren't nearby me that time."

"Cuz, I chased after you right after I saw that fireball going off course heading straight for ya."

"But why?"

Tojo gets up from where he was sitting and started walking in a direction.

"We'll talk bout this later. Now come on, we gotta find a way out of this place."

Tojo and Nagumo started navigating on the floor they're on. Trying to figure out a way to escape from the dungeon. As they were walking, they keep seeing many kinds of grotesque stuffs. Some of the weird things they see were just corpses of animal like beings. What was really weird for them was the bones on the ceiling of the cave that was shaped like a ribcage holding up the place.

"Jeezuz, what the heck is up with this place? Everything is so disgusting. Bleurgh, gross!"

"But this level is really big… It's not the same as the levels we were in before…"

They continued walking until they spot a taller than average rabbit with big hips standing a few meters away in front of them.

"Hey Tojo."

"Yeah? What?"

"Is that a rabbit?"

"Yeah?"

"We're in the lower floors, right? I thought the monsters here are supposed to be tougher and…bigger."

"Better not to judge a book by its cover dude…"

As Tojo finishes his warning to Nagumo, two wolf like monsters were running for the rabbit. Just like nature, the predator hunts the prey. But in this case, the rules are bent.

As one of the wolves was about to bite the rabbit, the rabbit does a kick that cuts the wolf into two, killing it instantly causing blood that looks like oil spilling from it. The other wolf then shoots a lightning charge in attempt to stun the rabbit, but the rabbit suddenly disappears, reappearing on top of the wolf and once again using its leg, it kills the wolf. After killing its prey, the rabbit begins to eat the fleshes of the now dead wolves.

'holy shit! That's not a freaking rabbit! That's a freaking rabbit monster!'

'oh no! Not good! That rabbit is crazy tough! We need to run!' Nagumo tries to run but he accidentally stumbled on a rock and falls down. "Gah!"

'Shit! Damn it Nagumo!'

Nagumo's cry caughts the rabbit's attention. With a slight turn of its head, the rabbit's ruby red eyes narrow as it caught sight of Nagumo and Tojo. It didn't take a second before the rabbit makes itself reappear in front of Nagumo and Tojo.

"SHIT!"

"GAHH!"

The rabbit uses it leg again and made a wind blade by just sheer force from its leg, destroying a bit of the ground that got in the crossfire. Thankfully, the attack misses Nagumo and Tojo. But unfortunately, a new threat arrives.

It was a giant bear monster that was higher than any normal human. It was two meters tall. It had yellow eyes and a red face. It's teeth and fangs protruding out of its mouth. Its throat was glowing red showing that the magical energy in its veins was strong there. Its arm was also glowing with red veins.

"Hoo shiiiit!"

Upon seeing the bear monster, Tojo could not helped but get scared by the monstrosity he was looking at. The rabbit who was also looking at the bear began to run as it knows it was no match to fight against the monster that was bigger and has more power against it.

As the rabbit was running the bear monster gathers energy into its knuckles, creating an energy claw. Raising its claw high, the bear prepares its attack. With a hand motion, the bear pulls down its claws creating three energy blades that spins around like a chakram after being thrown heading straight for the rabbit.

The rabbit's head was cut down, killing it instantly. Not even a shriek could be release from it. The Bear jumps down from the cliff that it was on heading for the rabbit so it could feast itself.

"AAAAAH!!!" 'It's eating it! It was just a prey for a predator. Just like me!'

'I need to escape! We need to escape! If there is any chance of us surviving, we need to freaking damn escape!'

"Nagumo let's run! Now!"

Tojo grabs Nagumo's arm and begins to run with him. Their escaping did not go unnoticed by the bear monster though. Once again, with a roar this time, the bear uses it claws and released another wave of energy blades towards Tojo and Nagumo. But Nagumo was able to notice the attack coming, and he knows it wasn't going to hit him.

"TOJO LOOK OUT!"

Nagumo pushed Tojo out of the energy blades path, saving him from death. But…it didn't go without a sacrifice. Nagumo loses his arm due to being cut by the bear's attack.

"AAAH!"

Nagumo's cut off hand falls down away from him a few steps back. The Bear monster had got close to them after the attack it did. Seeing the arm that it cut off from Nagumo, it picked up Nagumo's arm starts eating it.

"Freaking piece of shit! It's eating your damn arm!" 'Damn it! If this keeps going, we're definitely gonna die for real!'

"Nagumo! Use you're transmute and dig into the wall!!"

"Huh?!"

"YO BEAR! COME AT ME BITCH!"

Tojo calls for the bear's attention trying to draw it away from Nagumo to buy some time to escape.

"Tojo! What are you doing?!"

"Just dig the damn wall!!"

After being told the second time, Nagumo transmutes the wall behind him. Making the passageway small enough only for him and Tojo to crawl through. Meanwhile, Tojo was distracting the bear being able to draw it away enough from Nagumo. He got a few slight cuts due to the bear attacking him with its claws, fortunately none of it got to his vitals spots. Another attack was coming towards with him, but this time he didn't dodge but blocked it with his sword.

'Damn!! His freaking attack is damn heavy!'

The impact that Tojo received from the bear's attack was so strong that he almost lost his balance.

"Tojo now! Get in here!"

"Got it!"

Using all of the strength he has left, Tojo manages to push the bear's claw off. With a barrel roll, Tojo was able to get away from the bear and dives for the hole that Nagumo made. But that was not the end of it, the bear was trying to dig through. It was not satisfied, it still wanted to eat, and it won't let its food get away.

"Seal it! Now!"

Tojo immediately orders to which Nagumo didn't even need to hear to do it. After sealing the hole, the bear stops its approach and gives up.

"Pheeew!"

"Pheeew!"

Was the only thing that came out of their mouths after escaping the beast that was after them.

"Finally…got away…from that…damn thing!"

"Ye-yeah…" faints.

"Oi, Nagumo? NAGUMO??? GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF!! HOI!!"

'Shit!! I was too caught on trying to escape from that beast that I forgot that he was still injured! His arm is still bleeding, I need to stop it somehow!'

As Tojo was trying to stop the bleeding on Nagumo's arm, he noticed something odd.

'Wait…how is there light in here? We're in an enclosed hole. So how is it that I can s--* gasp* that's a Holy Crystal! I can heal him with the holy water it makes!! Although it won't restore his arm, it can still save his life!'

In Nagumo's mind

"Listen up! Everyone helps each other in the Labyrinth. No matter what, got it?"

"Yes, Captain!"

Nagumo was dreaming to the time before he and his classmates went into the Labyrinth. Captain Meld was reminding them. No, he was ordering them, to always help each other out.

Great Orcus Labyrinth

20th floor

"GAH!"

Nagumo was blocking an attack by a Ratman, but due to his low strength, the scratch attack from the Ratman completely knocking Nagumo off balance, losing his sword in progress. The Ratman was about to attack Nagumo again, but unfortunately, it was killed before it could do so.

"I'll keep everyone safe!"

The man that spoke those words just now was Amanogawa Kouki. Kouki is a typical ikemen. He has good looks, athletics, smarts, and a good personality. He has silky brown hair and gentle eyes. His body is toned and slender at about 180 centimetres.

'Tch, there's that idiot with his delusional self again…so damn annoying.

"Thank you, Amanogawa-kun."

"What for you bother yourself with a sword for? Ya can't even use it. You're totally useless."

The man that just threw out those insults was Hiyama Daisuke. He never liked Nagumo and was always bullying him. When they came to Tortus however, his bullying got even worse to where he would beat up Nagumo with more violence and taking it up as opportunity to bully him more, saying that its part of training.

'Oh great, the other idiot spewing his mouth again'

The man that was having annoyed thoughts on his mind was Tojo Kazuya. He can be described as a delinquent in the class, to which is not exactly the truth. He has brown hair with grey eyes and was about the same tall as Amanogawa. Tojo Kazuya was just a student learning in high-school wanting to graduate someday. He has a grumpy attitude and doesn't get along with people well, especially Nagumo Hajime. He also practices kenjutsu in his spare time at the Yaegashi Dojo. Kazuya was also known for being a punk in mid-school. It was rumoured that he had beaten up adults that were twice the size of him. Another reason why the class were afraid of him thinking that he's some sort of elite boxer or a judo master. Tojo wears a black short sleeve jacket with collars over a black tank top and wears a pair of black jeans.

"Are you okay, Nagumo-kun?"

"huh? Yeah I'm fine, thank you."

A girl had walked up behind Hajime asking if he was okay. This girl is Shirasaki Kaori, she is a beautiful young woman with waist-length black hair that is tied back in a half ponytail by a dark-colored bow with big bangs hanging on the right side while there are small bangs hanging on the left side and also has brown eyes. Her job was a priestess, a job which is mainly support combat oriented. Its main focus is on Healing and Cleansing skills provided with good affinity for light element. She wears a light blue and white priest outfit that has golden highlights on it and a green gem embedded in the middle as well as light blue metal plates covering the side of her outfit. She also wears a golden cross on her neck as well as while high heel boots.

Another girl was also with her during the time, her name was Yaegashi Shizuku. She is a beautiful woman with waist-length black hair that is usually tied up in a ponytail with bangs hanging over her forehead and red eyes. She wears a white vest with buttons over a black tank top and a pair of jeans. Her job was Swordmaster, provided with the job's abilities, her kenjutsu strength was amplified, making her unbeatable in sword fights.

"Tch" [Hiyama]

"You just have to work harder, Nagumo. If I were you, I'd be using every scrap of free time to train and get a little bit stronger." [Amanogawa]

'Oh god, please just shut up.' [Tojo]

"Hey, what's that? Its so shiny." [Shirasaki]

"Hmm? Isn't that…" [Hiyama]

"That is a glanz crystal. You don't see big one like that all too often. Its apparently a really popular engagement ring stone." [Captain Meld]

"It's really beautiful!" [Shirasaki]

Shirasaki stares at the stone on the ceiling of the cave in awe of its beauty. At the same time, Hiyama was climbing the wall of the cave, in attempt to retrieve some of the stone for Shirasaki.

"Well, then, I'll go and grab it then!" [Hiyama]

"Hmm? OI HIYAMA! WAIT!" chases Hiyama to stop him from touching the stones. [Tojo]

"Hey, Daisuke! Don't go off on your on own!" [Captain Meld]

Before Tojo could stop Hiyama from touching the stones it was already too late. By the moment He had touched the stones, the stones glowed bright. The trap that was set behind the stones were activated. It was a teleportation trap that brings people down over several jumps to where monsters are much stronger than the levels they were in, putting the people it catches in a very risky situation where their chances of being killed is much higher and where death would be an unavoidable thing to run from.

As soon they were teleported, the team of the high-school students that were led by Captain Meld found themselves in the middle of a stone bridge with two entrances that were soon blocked by monsters. One of the entrances was being blocked by an army of undead skeletons, and the other one was being blocked by a bull behemoth.

Great Orcus Labyrinth

65th Floor

"It was a trap! Everyone get back!! Get to the stairs, now!!"

Meld orders the students to make their escape towards the stairs that was behind the skeleton soldiers. The fighters of the team, Amanogawa and Yaegashi were leading the battle. Amanogawa was fighting one of the skeleton and pushed them back with Tojo giving the last attack.

"Thanks, Tojo-kun! [Amanogawa]

"Hmph, just do your job. [Tojo]

"Everyone, hurry!" [Yaegashi]

Yaegashi shouts to everyone to hurry because they won't be able to hold on the skeletons for long with them keep coming back even after killing them over and over again. Until she turns her head to see the behemoth was coming close to her childhood friend that had just stumbled and fell down to her knees. In an instant, Meld and two of his soldiers appears behind Shirasaki in a defensive stance.

"Go! Keep going! I'm not going to let you younglings die here!" [Meld]

"O God, grant thy beloved children thy divine protection from all wishing to cause harm,let the soil at our feet become divine ground that keeps our enemies at bay! HALLOWED GROUND!"

Meld casts a barrier spell that surrounds him and his comrades, blocking the path for the behemoth. But unfortunately, the spell couldn't last long due to how strong the behemoth is. It was destroyed in an instant, knocking Meld and his soldiers to fall back. Shirasaki was in fear, she couldn't move, her legs were frozen.

"Kaori RUN!" [Yaegashi]

Yaegashi shouts to her friend that wasn't moving from where she is. She was afraid that her cherished friend was going to die, but she stopped thinking about it when she saw the ground under the behemoth was moving trying to subdue the behemoth.

" (gasp) Transmute?" [Yaegashi]

"Nagumo-kun!" [Shirasaki]

"Run! Now is your chance!" [Nagumo]

"You alright, kid?" [Meld]

"Captain Meld, this won't hold it for long! Hurry, get Shirasaki-san and yourself to safety!" [Nagumo]

'Well, what do you know? This guy is braver than any of us!'

[Tojo smirking looking at Nagumo protecting Shirasaki]

Nagumo was holding back the behemoth as much as he can, but the behemoth was still trying to break through, and the bridge isn't going to hold on for long due to the transmutes. The bridge's body was breaking an it is going to fall soon.

"All right…Keep it up!" [Meld]

Meld believes in Nagumo and runs back to the team carrying Shirasaki.

'Damn it! It's not going to last!' [Nagumo]

"Get out of there, kid! We'll cover for you! Everyone, ready?" [Meld]

"YES, SIR!" [Everyone]

"RUN, KID! NOW!" [Meld]

"YES, SIR! [Nagumo]

Back to the present

"Why? Why? Why? Why?! Just die already. DIE! No, no, I don't want to die…DIE! [Nagumo mumbling in his nightmare]

"Hmm? Nagumo?"

"NO, I don't want to die…DIE! I don't want to die…DIE! I don't want to die!"

"Oi Nagumo, wake up!"

"NO, I don't want to die…DIE! I don't want to die…DIE! I don't want to die!" [still not waking up]

'Ah heck, sorry Nagumo.' [Punches Nagumo in the stomach]

"OOF! OW! What is wrong with you?!"

"You were having a nightmare."

"Couldn't you wake me up normally!?"

"Tried." [shrugs]

Nagumo looks at his arm that has stopped bleeding.

'Hmm? My arm stopped bleeding…'

"Did you do this?'

"Was there anyone else that was gonna do it?"

'Is this guy really a delinquent…?'

"Thank you."

"( Groaning) Why did you do it?"

"Hmm? Did what?"

"You saved me. Why?"

"Because…Isn't it the right thing do?" [Smiling]

"Wha--? No it isn't! You should have let me died and eaten by that monster. I bullied you, shouldn't you hate me?!"

"Why would I hate you when you already saved me twice?"

"What?"

"You saved me from drowning by that river, didn't you? And you even helped me escape that bear when you could have run for yourself. If it weren't for you, I'm pretty sure that I would be dead already."

Tojo was speechless. The man that he had bullied at school on a few occasions is thanking him even after what he had done. There wasn't even hatred in his voice, not a single one. His voice was so sincere.

"The question is you, Tojo-kun. Why would you bother yourself to save me? I was useless, a burden for the team. And you were my bully, you hated me, so why?"

It took a moment before Tojo could answer his classmate's question.

"Hmm…I…I never hated you…I…envied you…"

"Eh? You're jealous of me?"

"Yeah, I hated you because I was jealous. That Yaegashi Shizuku, liked you…"

"EH?!"

"What? Ya didn't know? Wait, of course you wouldn't…"

"Wha-wha-what do you mean???"

"Weren't you, Shirasaki and Yaegashi childhood friends?"

"Ye-yeah we were."

"Then how come you guys aren't talking as much as you did before?"

"Tha-that's…wait, we're getting off topic!"

"Pretty sure we're not."

"Why are you even asking those questions for?!"

Nagumo's question stuns Tojo a bit.

"Because…Its one of the reasons why was I jealous of you, Nagumo Hajime."

"Eh?"

"Back at mid-school, before I came to your town to continue my high-school years. It was true, I was a punk. I had beaten older men that were twice the size of me. Though it wasn't because I was acting punky or anything. It was something else..."

"My mother was always out working from day till night. And I had to take care of my sister, Himiko, everyday. I was 15 and my sister was 13. My father died in accident years ago, and our family wasn't even that wealthy to begin with. Everyday we are always struggling for money to survive, to eat, to buy clothes and to go for school. Every day, I had to wake earlier than everyone to prepare breakfast and bento for my mom and sister. So the three of us wouldn't need to wait each other out. I studied hard, doing the chores at home, washing our clothes, helping my sister with her studies. I even tried doing looking for jobs to ease my mother's burden a bit more."

As Tojo was giving his full backstory to Nagumo, he was listening to every detail that was given to him. He was about to cry a few times hearing this man's horrible past.

"Rumours about my family being poor somehow spread to my school, and it wasn't good. The girls and boys from my sister's class had started bullying her, and I didn't know about in until my sister came home crying. Her clothes were dirty as if she got pushed into a mud puddle. I was lucky to not be a victim of bullying due to my scary looks, heck even the upperclassmen there afraid of my looks. Though, I was really angry when I heard of it, just because of my family's reputation my sister had to get hurt. So the next day, after doing the morning routine. I went to school with my sister. I sent her to her class, usually I would go back to my class, but I stayed outside of her classroom and waited. After my sister took her seat, the girls of the class started throwing insults at her. That wasn't the worst thing yet until one of the boys of the class walked behind her and pulled her hair. I was furious, but I didn't make my move yet, I waited, not wanting to burst in too early. And that was my mistake, the girls join in the bullying and tried to rip her uniform. My sister was crying begging them to stop, to which they didn't. My sister tried fighting back, but when she tried to one of the boys punched her in the face yelling "HEY DON'T TOUCH HER!". And that was the final trigger for me, I burst into the class beating all the bullies up. Both the boys and the girls, I was beating them up until blood was coming out of them. Some of them tried to fight back, but I was stronger, so it was futile. The homeroom teacher had arrived to start the class, but he was shocked to see the chaos in the class. He thought he saw a monster, but it was just me. Hahaha…."

"And then what happened?"

"Hmm? Well, you know the normal thing, I got expelled for extreme violence but-

(Stomach grumblings)

"Sorry, that was me…"

"You want to--"

"No, please continue your story!"

"Dude…whatever. Back to what I was saying, I got expelled for extreme violence, but I was not sent to jail because what I did was only self-defence, but I was put on house arrest though. To which I think is a good thing cuz I now have more free time but too bad now I have a record and you know where that got me…When I was able to get in your school, I was only thinking of graduating, finding a fulfilling job so my mom could rest and my family would be in a better state of living. But then I met her, Yaegashi Shizuku, a swordswoman prodigy. I immediately knew that I was in love with her the moment I saw her. She was beautiful, graceful and was a really kind person. So I went to her family's Dojo, begging them to let me train under them promising that I will pay them one day. But her grandfather appeared telling me that I can learn here for free and get some money in return if I agree to do work in the Dojo with cleaning, maintaining the equipment, and other chores. And I happily agreed to it. It was killing two birds with one stone, one is that I could get stronger and get money to support my family. Two is that I can try and get closer to Yaegashi Shizuku hoping to confess to her one day. So, everyday at school I would usually stare at her in class. Call me a stalker I don't care. As I stare at her every day, I can tell that there was something wrong. Every time in class, she would steal glances at you. Just looking at you time to time. And that's how my hate for you began. Really sorry about that." [Apologises while bowing his head]

"I accept your apology. Hey, wait, what about the older men you beaten up? Where that came from??"

"Oh, that? Hahaha, some parents were not satisfied with me only being put on a house arrest, so they wanted to beat me up. They hired some thugs to invade our house, to which you already know, plan failed horribly, I beat them up, tied them to a pole, called the police and boom those bastards got arrested including the parents who hired them."

"Huh…ha. Hahahahaha."

"The heck ya laughing for?"

"No, nothing really. Hahaha, its just, I see that you're actually just a really good person aren't you, Tojo-kun?"

A blush appears on Tojo's face.

"Shut up…( covering face with jacket collar) So, I told you my story. How about you tell me yours? For a fact I know that you three were childhood friends so how about ya start there?"

"It's true that the three of us were childhood friends, we always played together at nearby park. Sometimes we even hang out at Yaegashi-san's dojo, watching her training. Until one day, Amanogawa-kun's family moved into the neighbourhood. I was about to meet Yaegashi-san and Shirasaki-san at the usual spot, but then I saw them playing with him and—"

"Let me guess, Sakagami isn't it?"

"You sure know everything don't you?"

"Not everything, I'm just good at observing things even though I don't look like it. Now then continue please."

"I saw them playing with Amanogawa-kun and Sakagami-kun. I see that they didn't waited for me, thinking…that they have found a better friend…"

"That's the reason why you don't hang out with them anymore?"

"Pretty much, yeah?"

"You're an idiot and a pessimist, you know that?"

"yes…."

"Hmm…"

"Hey, Tojo-kun."

"Yeah?"

"Did you use any kind of substance to stop my bleeding? I don't feel any pain at all on cut arm."

"Look above you."

Nagumo tilts his head to look up.

"A Holy Crystal….!"

"Yep. It was damn sheer luck we found it."

"Thank you, again."

"Stop it man."

[Stomach grumblings]

"Right, we need food… Urgh, where the heck are we supposed to find some…"

"I have an idea, but you're definitely not going to like it…"

"What's the idea?"

"The….umm…you know? The things?"

"Things? What things?"

Tojo regrets asking the question.

"You're kidding me right…?"

[ shrugs]

"Damn…but if we're going to do that we're gonna need a plan. Those monsters are way stronger than the ones we fought before, its definitely not going to be easy to even kill one."

"Tojo-kun, isn't your job a Swordmaster? If you combine your swordsmanship with your magic elements, you should be able to damage them can't you?"

"[ sighs] If it only was that easy…"

"What do you mean?"

"My job isn't Swordmaster, it's Dragon Slayer."

"EH?!"

"Dude, don't get surprised to much will ya?"

"What do you mean don't?! Isn't it amazing you got an awesome job?"

"Well It would be amazing if I could use it ya dimwit. The thing is I can't even control it.

"You can't?"

"No, casting other kinds of spells is easy, but the damn Dragon affinity is a freaking Nuisance!"

"Dragon affinity? Tojo-kun, can you give me a full explanation about your job?"

"Huh? Yeah sure sure, my job gives me two special stuff of which I don't have any idea what's it use for. One, is Dragon affinity. It boosts all my magic attacks with dragon power. But every time I tried to use an offensive spell, it fails and explodes. Every single time with the fire element. Using the water, wind or earth elements wasn't so bad but the spells keeps failing and explodes just like the fire element. That's why I never try to use any offensive spells in combat. Two, is that I have a Dragon Heart."

"Uhh…what's the detail then?"

"I don't know."

"You don't?"

"Nope, the only information I have about it is that my stamina and strength is increased because of it. If only it was strong enough to let me kill those damn beasts."

"Did you check the library if they have any answers to it though?"

"I did, but I wasn't able to find any. It's like some god gave me this new and vague ancient power just to mess with me."

"We have no choice then…we'll get back to this later, right now we need to get food or else we're gonna die of hunger."
