Chapter 7

El Paso 17 months after his divorce from Shannon

He proposed to her at sunset, on a hill overlooking the city. He gave her a ring that he had bought with his savings, and he told her how much he loved her.

He asked her to marry him, and she said yes. They hugged and kissed, and they cried tears of joy.

They got married a month later, in a small and simple ceremony. They invited their closest friends and family, and they exchanged their vows. They kissed Chris. Viper had officially adopted the young boy when she married Eddie. Since Shannon had signed away her parental rights to Chris when she filed the divorce. They were a happy family.

Epilogue

Eddie finds himself smiling in joy at the wedding band on his finger 18 months after his divorce from Shannon, this time he knows that this love and this marriage will last for eternity. the joy of seeing his new wife interact with his son Chris, the young boy already calling her mama makes him smile with so much joy every time, knowing that there were hard times and times of despair and there would no doubt be the hard times to come but with Evalynn he could face the world and know he could take any challenge thrown his way.

He felt like he had a second chance at life. He felt like he had found his true happiness. He knew that Evalynn's job was dangerous, and he worried about her every time she went on a mission. He knew that she could get hurt, or worse. But he also knew that she was doing what she loved, and what she was good at. He knew that she was a protector, and he respected her for that. He trusted her, and he supported her. He also knew that she loved him and that she would always come back to him. He knew that they would face many challenges and difficulties, but he also knew that they would overcome them together. He knew that they had a strong and lasting bond and that nothing could break them apart.

He looked at Evalynn, and he kissed her. He pulled Chris to him and hugged the little boy tightly to his chest while he smiled at his bride.

Eddie looked at the sky, and he thanked God. To him, it felt like the battle was over and the war had been won.

And while the echoes of war were there he had his glowing angel at his side.

He was happy, and he was at peace. He was ready to face the world, and he knew he would win. He had everything he ever wanted, and he wouldn't change a thing. He had Evalynn, and he had Chris. He had love, and he had hope. He had a new story, a new chapter in his book and he had a new life.

And his next chapter was going to be worth it all. He now had more purpose and a direction to go to.

While his beautiful wife saved the world, he would be at home waiting for her, and in the meantime, he would be preparing himself for the fire academy at the suggestion of his wife.
