Hello! A couple of things to note before reading: these characters have nothing to do with my previous story, Finding Family, I just like the names so I want to reuse them :P Also, the 2 girls have been living with Maya and Carina in a house for a couple of weeks already. You can find me on Wattpad under the username dhjsnc so you can view the story with all the special formatting, but I will also update here.
TW: SA, self harm
"Scream and I'll make sure you will never see your brother again" Liam said as he covered her mouth.
This was the fourth time this week he has come into her room. Every night for the past few weeks, at the same time, he has had the same routine: "Scream and I'll make sure you will never see your sister again" as he continues to violate her.
Lily woke up gasping for air, beads of sweat dripping from her forehead. She looked around her room, her mind racing, wanting to be get out of there. She quickly and quietly runs to the bathroom and shuts the door. She needed quick and fast relief, so she opens her empty tampon box and grabs her razor. Maya, a light sleeper, has seen this girl get up every night at around the same time and go to the bathroom. Thinking she just needed some alone time, she left her alone. Tonight was different though, Lily was taking an extra long time, so Maya decided to investigate.
"Lily?" Maya asked as she knocked on the door. "Is everything alright in there?"
Lily, still distracted from her cuts, didn't hear the blonde knock.
"Lily? I'm coming in"
Maya froze as she opened the door, looking at the young girl sitting on the floor as she was cutting away at her stomach. She quickly shifted into mama bear mode and grabbed the young girl's wrist before she could cut again.
"Lily, I need you to listen to me. Let go of the razor sweetie" Maya said calmly as she wrapped her arms around the trembling girl.
After a few minutes of struggling, Lily reluctantly dropped the razor to the ground as she continued to cry. Maya was at a loss for words, she didn't know Lily was hurting this bad. She silently cursed herself for not finding out earlier.
Soon, the girl's cries subsided and Maya was able to get the girl up.
"Come on let's go downstairs and clean these up" Maya said as she practically carried the girl out of the bathroom.
Maya sat the girl down at the kitchen table as she went to go get the first aid kit. Lily was completely zoned out and unaware of what was happening which was scaring Maya.
"Lily?" Maya got the young girl's attention.
"Huh?" Lily replied as she looked up at Maya.
"I'm going to take a look" Maya said as she lifted the girl's shirt.
Maya gasped as she saw red everywhere. This looked like it had been going on for a long time, each time she cut it seemed as if she was just reopening her old wounds. Not an inch of the girl's stomach was clear.
"Oh Lily-"
"Stop, I don't want your pity and I don't need your help," Lily replied hastily as she pulled her shirt back down.
"Lily, you don't need to hide anymore. We can help you, you just have to let us."
"I don't need your help," Lily repeated.
Maya had to pause, this girl is as stubborn as me.
"Sweets, I know how hard it is for you to accept help. Carina and I have seen it since you first came here, but you have got to try. If not for me, at least for Charlotte," Maya said hoping that last statement got through to the young girl.
"How dare you bring Charlotte into this? You don't know anything about us, you are just another insignificant foster parent!" Maya was taken aback by the young girl's hostility. She had never seen Lily like this in the 4 weeks she has been living in her house. Carina, hearing this commotion in the kitchen, went to investigate. She was shocked to see Lily's face covered with a mixture of sweat and tears still in her blood-stained shirt sitting next to Maya, making no attempts to acknowledge the blonde's presence.
"What's going on here?" both looked up to see Carina standing at the bottom of the steps.
"Lily and I- " Maya replied.
"No, I think we are done here, " Lily interrupted and stormed out of the kitchen before the two adults said anything.
"What was that all about and what was all that blood?" Carina asked worryingly.
Maya took a moment to update Carina on her encounter with Lily in the bathroom.
"She was just so angry at me and I don't know why! We need to get her to a therapist, not that group therapy crap she does every weekend, like one-on-one so she can be held accountable. She needs to open up and I know group therapy is doing nothing for her, " Maya said.
"I agree, but we still can't make the bambina talk, she needs to open up on her own terms without feeling forced. I'll talk to a few of the people I know at the hospital to see which ones will fit best for her. I think we should get to bed," Carina replied, looking at the clock reading 3:23 AM.
Maya and her made their way up the stairs, stopping by the girls' room to find Lily fast asleep, before heading back to bed.
The next morning was chaotic as always, with 4 girls running around the house to get ready, there was never a dull moment in the Deluca-bishop household.
Charlotte was the first one ready and downstairs as usual.
"Good morning Charlotte! How'd you sleep?" Carina asked as she finished preparing the kids' breakfast.
"Good!" the young girl replied.
Lily was the second one down, looking exhausted from the lack of sleep this entire week. Carina and Maya shared a worried glance as the watched the young girl sit next to Charlotte and slowly chew on her piece of toast.
Before Lily could walk out, Carina and Maya stopped her.
"I wanted to let you know that I will be picking you up after school so you can go see Dr. Hendrix-
"But-"
"Nope, I'm not finished. Carina and I just want you to have someone that you can feel safe enough to open up to and maybe one day you will be able to feel safe enough to open up to us. Please accept this help, " Maya said.
Before Lily could argue anymore, Charlotte walked through the door.
"I forgot my lunch!" Charlotte said and ran to the kitchen.
"Fine," Lily said quickly as she ran out the door wanting to leave the conversation as soon as possible. She didn't want to go and see this random person to talk about her feelings, but if that got her foster parents to shut up and get off her case, she would happily do it. She didn't need anyone's help for the past few years, she certainly didn't need any now.
