"Oh my god, Drew. Look, look, look," Eowyn said. "It's a quokka."
He smiled at her joy and watched her instead of the quokka she had spotted. Her short, rust red hair was hidden under a white cap, and her dark brown eyes were hidden behind a pair of dark sunglasses. She turned her head to smile at him, and then removed the sunglasses to give him the look that always made him chuckle.
"What?" He asked.
"You're not looking at it," she said.
"I'd rather look at you," he said. "And here we have a wild Eowyn outside of her natural habitat. Such a weird coincidence to find one this far away from home."
"Oh, shut up!" She laughed.
She turned her head to look at the quokka again. It took a few steps closer.
"You know the rules," he said. "If it comes closer than two metres, we gotta move."
"I know but it's at least four metres away," she said.
"For now," he said.
They were on vacation on Rottness Island and had just arrived yesterday. It had been one of her wishes to see at least one quokka and it had already been fulfilled.
"How about a late night walk tonight? Quokkas are nocturnal," he said.
"I'd love to," she said. "Oh, there it goes. Bye, mister quokka."
They both watched it disappear, and she looked at him again. She still had a smile on her face, and he leaned in to peck her lips.
"Thank you for taking me here," she said.
"I need a vacation too," he said.
"My hard working man," she smirked. "How about I take extra good care of you tonight after our walk?"
"What do you have in mind?" He asked.
"You'll see," she said.
"Tease!" He pouted.
She laughed and tapped his nose with her finger. He tried catching her finger with his teeth but she was too fast for him.
"Okay, we saw a quokka. That's one thing off our list. Should we do the shipwrecks after lunch?" She asked.
"That would be amazing," he said.
That was the one thing he wanted to do the most. Explore the shipwrecks. It meant the world to him that she wanted to do that with him.
"I love you, Eowyn," he said.
"You better," she grinned. "I love you too, Drew."
