For the first time in years, Space Core was bored. Bored and lonely, his two least favorite things. Aside from not being in space, of course. Normally, back in Aperture, he would just think about space to feel better, but even his near cult-like devotion to space couldn't keep him from feeling sad. Wheatley, the-purple-one-whose-name-he-frequently-forgets, and N left a few days ago. Ever since, N has done nothing but wallow in the corner, sometimes leaving to get oil for himself and the-mean-yellow-one. A few times, he had attempted to console his friend, unfortunately failing every time. Maybe he missed the purple one, Spacey certainly misses Wheatley. Although recently, N had to leave in a panic. He had no clue why; all he knew was the mean yellow one had left (With the help of some pink one that he didn't really care about), and he said something about... Prom? He had no idea what that was. He also helped N into a suit that he described as 'dapper' before he left. N had given him express orders to stay right here, and he wasn't going to ignore the request of his new best friend, but it was extremely tempting to go outside when he was all alone here.

"Space... Space... I... I really want to...", Space Core mumbled, looking at the floor.

He looked out through the top of the pod, gaining a tad feeling of happiness from the stars in the sky, but he was still very lonely. Ever since he got this body, he went outside every day to look at the stars. Sometimes N would come out with him, it was nice, being with his friend.

"Space friend... Space Prom... Lonely... Space", Space core croaked out.

Why couldn't he go to... Prom. Whatever that is?! He could be capable of himself... Maybe... Actually, maybe not. He did have to admit that he could be a bit simple-minded from time to time. heh heh, like that one time he nearly fell into an incinerator while mindlessly rolling on his management rail while thinking about space.

"Chuckle, chuckle", a voice said at the back of his mind while he was reminiscing.

"SPACE FRIEND?!", Spacey immediately shot up upon hearing the voice.

"Negative, strange machine", The voice said lowly. It was strange, a feminine voice, but strangled by robotic audio filters to make it sound lifeless and cold.

"Can... Can you help me get to space?", Space Core said, trying to lower his voice.

"Perhaps... In due time, machine", she said. "But first, I want to know the name of my newest... vessel."

"SPACE!", Space Core shouted. "WHAT IS SPACE FRIENDS NAME?"

"...Well... Thinking, thinking", She said. "My favorite vessels name was... Cyn. I suppose you may call me that as well."

"I must admit... Space... You are a truly strange machine" Cyn said. "Out of all the machine's I have... changed."

Normally, those choice of word would cause some alarm to any ordinary drone, but Space Core was no ordinary drone.

"I LIKE SPACE!", Space Core said.

"Cordial laughter, I can tell", Cyn replied. "Tell me... Space... Why are you here... Alone?"

"SPACE FRIEND... N... N TOLD ME TO STAY HERE", Space Core said. "SOMETIMES I FEEL A LITTLE BIT LONELY, BUT LOOKING AT THE STARS IN SPACE MAKES ME FEEL HAPPY AGAIN!"

The odd devotion to space caused Cyn to jerk back a bit in surprise, but she persisted.

"N? Big brother...", Now she was interested. "Where, where is he?"

"...HMMM, HE SAID HE WENT TO A PROM", Spacey said. "I WISH I COULD GO... IT GETS LONELY HERE."

Cyn felt a little bad. She knew what it felt like to be lonely... All those cold nights alone in the basement. She only had those, admittedly tasty, robo-roaches to keep her company. To be completely honest, Space kind of reminded her of N. Loveable, naive, kind-of-annoying-but-in-an-endearing-way, and it has been a while since she's had an actual casual conversation with someone, maybe this will be fun.

"Thinking... Uranus is the only planet to spin on its side", Cyn spoke, this always made N happier, maybe it'll cheer Space up.

Spacey shot up, a wide smile adoring his face "SPACE, URANUS. SPACE FRIEND KNOWs SPACE! ARE YOU FROM SPACE!?"

"Chuckle, you remind me of someone, a brother", Cyn said, avoiding names.

"You also remind me of someone, hmmm, they weren't from space. I actually forgot who they were. I don't think they liked space, either", Space Core replied, calmer.

"What a shame", Cyn replied. "I think space is quite fascinating."

"OOH, OOH, LADY- CYN, WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT SPACE, MINE IS SPACE!", Space Core enthusiastically asked.

"Searching, perhaps the vast nothingness that spread infinitely, threatening to consume all that gets caught in its wake", Cyn answers.

"HUH, NEAT!", Space Core answer jovially, causing Cyn to crack a small smile, whenever she told something like that to a human, they would always call he broken.

"I LIKE YOU, SPACE FRIEND", Space Core said.

"Cute laughter, I like you too, Space", Cyn replied.

"I forgot to ask, if you aren't in space. Where are you", Spacey asked.

"That is a difficult question to answer... I suppose I am everywhere, but truly nowhere", Cyn answered. "But right now, I am in your head.0"

"Oh... Is it nice in there?", Space asked.

"Hmm, yes. I suppose. Chuckle, there is a lot of space", Cyn said.

"SPACE", Space Core blurted out.

"...Where did you come from, little machine", Cyn asked, out of the blue.

"Hmmm, I don't think other Space Friend will like it if I say that", Space Core answered.

"Hmmm, that's okay. Everyone has their privacy", Cyn answered in an odd moment of understanding.

"Are you ever lonely?", Space Core asked.

Cyn was partly taken aback, no one ever asks how she feels anymore.

"Shocked gasp, recollecting... I am... Very lonely, indeed", Cyn replied.

"It's okay, Cyn. I can keep you company!", Space Core said.

"Endearing smile, I would like that, Space", Cyn replied.

"OOH, OOH, CAN WE TALK ABOUT SPACE MORE", Space Core shouted.

"Sure... Friend... Clearing throat. Venus is the hottest planet in the Milky Way and is currently reduced to half its total mass due to mining by JCJenson", Cyn said.

"OH, I KNOW A SPACE FACT SOMEONE ELSE TOLD ME ONCE" Space Core shouted. "THE MOON IS NOT MADE OF CHEESE, BUT OF YOGURT!"

Cyn smiled despite knowing that that wasn't true whatsoever.

"Interesting fact, Space", Cyn said.

"THANK YOU, CYN!" Space Core shouted.

Spacey and Cyn kept talking for a while, eventually Space Core stopped keeping track. This 'Cyn' person was certainly something. She was a great person to talk to. They conversed long into the morning, sharing space facts or odd stories about someone's life in a mansion (Cyn never dropped any names). Soon enough, N and the-mean-yellow-one came back to the pod in their dapper outfits (that were covered in oil, but Space Core didn't care), he talked to N for a bit while the-mean-yellow-one sat in chair off to the side. Space Core tried to introduce N to Cyn, but she never replied. He knew she was still around, though, perhaps she was just shy. That was okay! As the sun came up, All three of the drones in the pod shut down into sleep mode.

but someone was left awake, happily thinking of the first wonderful conversation she had in years.

Note: I made this a long while ago, just finally decided to post it here.

Maybe its canon, maybe it's not, I'll never tell :3
