Chapter 4: Miraculous Light
Drain Tunnel, Digital World

After returning to Digi-Central, Zeo, Akira, Gaius and Yae Sakura restocked on items and food before using the Warp Gate to Drain Tunnel. Zeo also called in Bronya and Gunvolt to assist while giving them the address to Drain Tunnel and Sheer Valley. Upon their arrival at Drain Tunnel, it turns out to be a sewer area with wooden bridges, pipes and sewer water with floating garbage.
"...I'm starting to question if going with you guys to a sewer area is a good idea." Gunvolt said.
"Because your electro powers are needed to give those thieves, especially the platinum one, a nice dose of shock therapy." Yae Sakura replied.
"The Bronya still cannot believe those Sukamons were able to steal a very sacred relic behind Pandamon's back." Bronya commented.
"Never thought I'd hear about living poop stealing an ancient relic." Joule spoke from inside Gunvolt's relic pendant.
"Get used to the weirdness that is the Digi-World." Akira replied as she and the others sent out their Digimon partners.
"Ugh… this place is freaking filthy." ZubaEagermon remarked with disgust.
"I agree." Sunflowmon replied. "Seriously, why can't people throw the garbage inside a dustbin instead of the water?"
"Because most people unfortunately threw away common sense." Zeo answered. "Kind of a sad sight, if I'm being honest."
"At least there's some people who retained common sense and did the right thing." Gaius stated. "None of us want global warming to happen, including the Digi-World."
"Well said, partner." BaoHuckmon agreed.
"Lady Bronya, I'm awaiting your orders to protect you and your friends." Hagurumon said.
Hagurumon
Type: Virus
Level: Child
Hagurumon is a living grey and brass gear with cog-like hands and red eyes.
"The Bronya is counting on you, Hagurumon." Bronya replied.
"Thank goodness I digivolved before coming here. I don't think I can take it when I'm still a Fanbeemon." Said Waspmon, Gunvolt's digivolved partner.
Waspmon
Type: Virus
Level: Adult
Waspmon is a large yellow and black mechanical wasp with antenna-parts on his head, propellers on his shoulders, stabilizers and jet thrusters on his back, and a powerful laser cannon as his stinger.
"Continue to watch my back as always, partner." Gunvolt said to Waspmon.
"Of course. For you, and for Joule." Waspmon nodded.
"We're counting on you!" Joule cheered.
"I'm surprised you chose to not digivolve your partner yet." Kyubei said to Bronya.
"He's almost there." Bronya replied. "Just a bit more experience, and he'll gain access to his Adult Level. The Bronya will leave the Adult Level encounters to you. As for the Child Levels, Hagurumon can handle them, but be sure to give him a hand if he struggles."
"We'll be sure to remember that." Sakura noted.
"Now then, time to hunt down those literal pieces of crap." Zeo declared as the team ventured through the sewers.
As they traversed through the sewered consisting of climbing ladders and crossing wooden bridges, they encountered and fought/scanned the Digimon living in the area, such as Gizamon, Hagurumon, Otamamon, Seadramon, Ikkakumon, Hookmon and Raremon. Bronya's Hagurumon can handle the Child Levels while everyone else fought the Adult Levels. They also uncovered some treasure chests along the way, but one of them had something unexpected which surprised them.
"This shape… is this a Digimental?!" Sakura gasped in surprise after taking out the rare item from the treasure.
"The Digimental of Light!" Kyubei recognized the item which looked like a pair of white wings being closed with a crest in the middle, and a pair of three-toed feet with magenta nails.
"The Bronya was not expecting a Digimental to be hidden in the sewers." Bronya remarked. "Can Veemon use it?"
"I don't think so." Veemon replied from inside Gaius' Digivice. "But I did hear that a Tailmon can use it to Armor Digivolve.
"Then I know who to give this to when we get back to Digi-Central." Akira smiled. "Sakura, let me hold onto it."
"Very well." Sakura replied, allowing Akira to store the Digimental into her Digivice.
"Not the Digimental we're looking for, but we'll take it nonetheless." ZubaEagermon remarked.
"And now, back to searching for the Digimental thief." BaoHuckmon said as they continued onward.
Eventually, the team reached the end of Drain Tunnel by climbing up the last ladder where they saw something shiny at a small concrete island with a wooden bridge nearby.
"There's the thief we've been looking for." Gaius frowned.
The team then crossed the wooden bridge to take a closer look at the shiny spot, which revealed to be a living poop made of platinum with the same color, has eyes and arms. This is PlatinumSukamon.
PlatinumSukamon
Type: Virus
Level: Adult
"Ooh… how I love this treasure! Nice and shiny, just like me!" PlatinumSukamon smiled while looking at his recent treasure, the Digimental of Miracles.
"Hey! Over here, you piece of crap!" Zeo shouted, interrupting the living poop's quality time and caused it to turn around after putting away the Digimental.
"Grr! How dare you trespass into MY territory!" PlatinumSukamon growled.
"We have questions for you about a stolen item. Perhaps you knew about it?" Akira asked.
"Stolen item? What are you talking about?! I never stole anything!"
"Pandamon says otherwise." Sakura replied. "He found a fake Digimental of Miracles in his hut, with paint tearing off."
"S-S-So…?!" PlatinumSukamon began to shudder slightly.
"Refusing to tell the truth, huh?" Gaius said, taking out his Zikan Phone and pushed a few buttons before showing the Digimon the phone. "Judgement Mode." With a push of a button, a holo-screen appeared which showed a blue circle and a red 'X', as the light moved back and forth between the symbols. "PlatinumSukamon, you are in possession of Pandamon's Digimental of Miracles without asking permission, and swapped it with a fake. If proven guilty, prepare to face the consequences."
PlatinumSukamon gulped nervously while dripping with sweat as it watched the light go back and forth. Seconds later, the light stopped… at the 'X'. "Eep!"
"Guilty as charged." Gaius confirmed, putting away his phone. "Now hand over the real Digimental, and we'll leave you alone. If you refuse, then get ready for a world of hurt."
PlatinumSukamon was silent and couldn't believe that they were able to expose the crime. He just got the shiny treasure, and now he has to give it up already? No, he will not go down as a coward. If they want the treasure back, they'll have to fight for it. So in response, PlatinumSukamon whistled, causing numerous Sukamon to leap out of the water and landed in front of him. Another group of Sukamon also came out of the water and surrounded the Tamers and their Digimon.
"I will not surrender this shiny treasure of mine!" PlatinumSukamon said. "You won't take it away from me!"
"In that case…" Zeo said as their Digimon partners prepared themselves. "Time to beat the crap out of you and your boys."
"Hagurumon, you've already accumulated enough experience to digivolve." Bronya said, raising her Digivice. "It's time to take the next level."
"Understood, Bronya! I'm ready when you are!" Hagurumon replied.

"Good answer." Bronya smirked, raising her glowing Digivice as Hagurumon was encased into an energy cocoon.
"Hagurumon, Evolution!" Hagurumon shouted as his body began to change. And once the cocoon bursted open, his new form was revealed to be an armored body made of solid iron with green eyes, a pair of legs, and rocket jets mounted on his back. "Guardromon!"
Guardromon
Type: Virus
Level: Adult
"Get them!" PlatinumSukamon ordered his troops to pull out their own poop and throw them at the team.
"I did not come here to get covered in Digimon droppings! Especially if they're thrown by those living pieces of crap!" Yae Sakura stated as she sliced the oncoming poop at lightning speed.
"Onibidama(Fox Tail Inferno)"
"Onibidama!" Sakura ordered as Kyubei spread her nine tails with the white flames on the tail tips intensifying before the flames were launched right at the Sukamon group, incinerating them to pixels.
"Sunshine Beam"
"Sunshine Beam!" Akira ordered as Sunflowmon's petals on her head began to shine brightly before all of them fired a powerful ray of sunlight that incinerated another group of Sukamon that surrounded the team.
"Bronya, coordinate our Digimon partners' attack together?" Gunvolt suggested.
"Sounds like a plan." Bronya nodded.
"Destruction Grenade"
"Turbo Stinger"
"Destruction Grenade./Turbo Stinger!" Bronya and Gunvolt called out as Guardromon fired missiles from his forearms, while Waspmon fired lasers from his stinger cannon as the two attacks completely obliterated the remaining Sukamons, leaving only PlatinumSukamon left.
"Oh crap, my minions!" PlatinumSukamon gasped. "I gotta get out of here!" He tried to escape, but for some reason, he cannot move his whole body. "H-Huh?! Why can't I move?!"
"You left your shadow open." Sakura replied, appearing behind the Digimon with a flash-step and glanced at her planted kunai on the Digimon's shadow.
Shadow Weaving
"H-How?! Y-You're not an ordinary Tamer! W-Who are you?!" PlatinumSukamon asked with fear.
"...Just a passing-through Rebellion. Remember that." Sakura answered with her hand over her katana handle. "Last chance to surrender the Digimental, or we'll be forced to delete you. You do want to live, right?"
"G-Gh…!" PlatinumSukamon was speechless with fear due to his options being limited without his minions since they were deleted. In addition, the Adult Level Digimon partners were also preparing to strike if he chose the wrong answer. "A-Alright, you win! The treasure is hidden on my back! J-Just take it and let me go!"
"Wise answer." Sakura noted, approaching the Digimon and searched his back until she found what she's looking for and pulled it out. "The Digimental of Miracles…" She briefly examined the shiny gold artifact before tossing it to Gaius who immediately caught it and stored it inside his Digivice. Afterwards, she removed her kunai on PlatinumSukamon's shadow. "Now leave and repent on your actions, and pray to your digital gods that you'll never see us again."
"Y-Yes, ma'am! I-I promise to change myself! I-I'm leaving!" PlatinumSukamon replied before jumping into the sewer water and swam away.

Sakura sighed as she approached the team. "Good riddance…"
"Good move using the Shadow Weaving skill." Akira complimented.
"Shinji taught me well." Sakura smiled.
"Can I have a look at my Digimental please?" Veemon asked.
"Easy there, buddy. We'll do that back at the Digi-Farm." Gaius replied.
"And after that, we go to Chrome Mine and save Phil." Bronya added.
"Alright, let's get out of here, because we could really use a nice shower from exploring this sewer." Zeo declared, using a Gate Disk to warp back to Digi-Central.
Zeo's Digi-Farm, Digi-Central
Once the team reached the Digi-Farm, they took a quick shower and then met at the field. Gaius sent out Veemon, took out the Digimental of Miracles and gave it to him.
"So, how do you feel, buddy? Sense any power coming from it?" Gaius asked.
"Hmm…" Veemon examined the Digimental he's holding. "I definitely sense it. To think that I'd be the chosen one to use this. That's what Pandamon said, I think. Though I wonder if I can handle this power?"
BaoHuckmon came out of Gaius' Digivice and took a closer look. "Hmm… I think you're gonna need a lot of endurance and willpower to use this thing. Feels like having the power of a Royal Knight."
"A Royal Knight, huh…" Veemon mused.
"So if Veemon uses the gold Digimental, he'll have the power of a Royal Knight?" Sakura asked.
"Yup." Zeo confirmed. "If he can handle it, that is."
"Veemon, I think it's better if we use the Digimental at a critical moment. We mustn't be reckless about it." Gaius advised.
"I understand, partner. It's your call to use its power." Veemon noted, prompting Gaius to store the Digimental into his Digivice.
"Alright, I think it's time we head for Chrome Mine and find Phil." ZubaEagermon said from inside Zeo's Digivice.
"He's right. Every second counts." Gunvolt agreed.
"Though we need to be careful. There's a chance that some Adult and Perfect Level Digimon lurk in the mine." Akira cautioned.
"The Bronya will call in Copen to assist." Bronya said, using her Digivice to contact him.
"Should we bring in Kanade and the others to help?" Gaius asked.
"No, but call in Kiana. I have something for her to use." Akira replied.
"Oh right! The Digimental of Light we found at Drain Tunnel! And Kiana happens to have a Tailmon as her partner!" Sunflowmon remembered.
"That's the one." Akira smiled. "I'm sure Talia will make good use of her new power."
Chrome Mine, Digital World

Once Copen and Kiana arrived at the Digi-Farm, the team notified them about the events that happened, including the true name of the Forbidden Land and the item needed to gain access. Also, Akira gave Kiana the Digimental of Light which surprised Talia considering she's compatible with it. With their preparations completed, they immediately used the Warp Gate to warp them into Chrome Mine. Upon arrival, the area was revealed to be a mining cave with ores on the walls along with mining carts and tracks, though most of them are broken and cannot be used.
"You know, I was expecting the Forbidden Land to be some kind of dangerous island, not a mining area." Lola remarked from inside Copen's relic pendant.
"True, but this place does have rare ores inside, especially Chrome Digizoid." Copen replied. "I'm a bit curious about the material myself, to be honest."
"We'll have plenty of time for that after rescuing Phil." Gunvolt said. "I just hope we're not too late."
"Any luck finding his signal, Bronya?" Joule asked.
Bronya used her Digivice to contact Phil, but the signal had too much static. "The Bronya can't contact Phil despite being in the same area."
"Either something happened to his Digivice or we need to explore deeper until we get a signal." Gaius said.
"Well, no point waiting any longer. We're going in." Zeo stated as the team sent out their Digimon partners, including Veemon.
"You sure you're ready to fight, Veemon?" Akira asked. "There's going to be less Child Level Digimon here compared to the other areas."
"I know, but I'm going to fight anyway. I need to work on my endurance." Veemon replied. "Though I will step back if things get too rough for me to handle."
"Don't worry, we'll watch your back." BaoHuckmon replied as he and the other Digimon partners nodded.
"Kiana, whenever you're ready to use my Digimental, feel free to let me know." Talia said.
"You got it, Talia. And I can't wait to see what you look like when you use it." Kiana replied.
"Trust me, you're gonna like it." Talia winked.
"Right then, let's move out." ZubaEagermon declared as they quickly ventured into the mine.
During the trek, they encountered and scanned/defeated PawnChessmon Black and White, DemiDevimon, Impmon, Bakemon, Vilemon, Wizardmon and Darkrizamon. As the group were nearing the end of the mine, something caught Kyubei's scent.
"Hm?" Kyubei felt the scent and sniffed around which caught everyone's attention. "A human presence?"
"Is it Phil?" Copen asked.
"Only one way to find out. Follow me!" Kyubei replied as she ran ahead with the others quickly following suit.
Meanwhile at the end of the mine, a researcher was hiding behind some rocks with a broken Digivice-V on his wrist. It was a young man with dark crimson hair, wearing transparent spectacles, an open orange long-sleeved jacket with a white shirt underneath, brown pants and shoes. This is Phil, Ellie's brother.
He's slowly catching his breath, waiting for a chance to make a run for it without encountering any Digimon. Unfortunately, he didn't have a Gate Disk in hand so he can't warp himself back to Digi-Central safely. He then took another look around without revealing himself… until his body began shuddering when he felt someone breathing on his back. He slowly turned around and gasped in shock that it was a DarkTyrannomon staring at him.
"What's a puny human doing in a place like this?" DarkTyrannomon pondered. "What is your name?"
"Uh…" Phil nervously gulped before answering. "I-It's Phil."
"Are you another one of those Tamers?"
"N-No, actually. I'm a Digimon researcher."
"Hmm… do you have any strong Digimon with you?"
"Umm… actually I don't have any."
DarkTyrannomon was stunned that this human was able to explore the Forbidden Land without any Digimon with him. Either he was brave, or very stupid. "How disappointing." He huffed. "If you don't have a Digimon, then you're not worth my time."
"Why are you here though?" Phil asked.
"To fight strong Digimon living in this area, of course!" DarkTyrannomon answered. "My loss against that gold Adult Level Digimon in Training Peak gave me motivation to train harder so I can beat him in a rematch. You wouldn't happen to notice any strong Digimon in the area, do you?"
"Well…" Phil was about to answer, until they heard loud footsteps coming closer to them.
"I think I've found what I'm looking for." DarkTyrannomon grinned before walking ahead. "Don't get in my way."
Phil resumed hiding and watched DarkTyrannomon confronting the one approaching as the footsteps became louder. And once the figure came into view, Phil's eyes widened and silently gasped in shock as the figure revealed to be a full-metal cyborg dragon composed of several cyborg Digimon parts and a pair of large cannons on its back. "M-M-Machinedramon?!"
Machinedramon
Type: Virus
Level: Ultimate
"Finally. Someone worth my time." DarkTyrannomon thought with excitement before asking the cyborg Digimon. "Are you the strongest Digimon in the Forbidden Land?"
"And who are you supposed to be?" Machinedramon asked.
"The name's DarkTyrannomon, and I'm planning to defeat every single strong Digimon until I'm the only one left standing."
Machinedramon chuckled in response. "Are you a complete fool? You're looking at an Ultimate Level Digimon, Machinedramon. And you're just a weak Adult Level."
"...Weak, huh?" DarkTyrannomon felt triggered upon hearing that insulting word, causing him to growl in anger. "I'll show you who's weak! Fire Breath!" He unleashed a flamethrower from his mouth as Machinedramon took the hit without even moving an inch. DarkTyrannomon then smirked, until his eyes widen in shock that his attack didn't leave a single mark on Machinedramon who casually walked through the flames. "What?!"
"...Is that the best you can do?" Machinedramon questioned.
"No." DarkTyrannomon growled with anger and his claws sharpened. "I'm just getting started!" He let out a roar before rushing to the cyborg who stood there and tanked the attacker's claw swipes and tail swings.
During the duel, Phil quietly snuck away to avoid being caught in the crossfire. And once he got out of the area, he was surprised to see a couple of familiar faces along with some Tamers. "Copen?! Bronya?!"
"There you are." Bronya replied as Phil approached the group.
"Phil, why didn't you call me and Bronya first before coming to the Forbidden Land?" Copen asked. "Your sister has been worried sick that she had to go out and find you herself."
"Oh… sorry." Phil apologized. "Curiosity got the best of me."
"Just do us all a favor and never do this crazy stunt without asking for help again. Understood?" Zeo warned.
"I understand." Phil nodded. "I promise it won't happen again."
"Did something happen to your Digivice?" Akira asked. "Ebonwumon tried contacting you several times, but there's no answer."
"About that…" Phil showed off his broken Digivice-V on his wrist. "I accidentally tripped while I was running away from a very scary Digimon which I recently found out that it's a Machinedramon. Thankfully, I wasn't caught, though my blunder broke the Digivice which is why I can't call for help. But even if I did, Machinedramon would spot me."
"Machinedramon?!" The Digimon partners exclaimed.
"I take it that Machinedramon is bad news?" Kiana asked.
"He's one of the strongest Ultimate Level Digimon out there!" ZubaEagermon explained. "His Infinity Cannons will reduce a Digimon to nothing!"
"Unless you're an Ultimate Level Digimon, there's no chance of beating him." Kyubei added.
"I see. So he's that strong." Sakura noted.
"We're only here to rescue Phil, not fight a Machinedramon." Gaius stated. "Let's pull out a Gate Disk and-"
*WHAM! BAM!*
Gaius' sentence was paused as they heard the sounds of a battle coming from a nearby area that Phil came out from.
"...That was Machinedramon, wasn't it?" Talia guessed.
"Yes." Phil confirmed. "I was catching my breath before looking for a chance to escape, until I encountered a DarkTyrannomon who was looking for a strong Digimon to fight, which happens to be Machinedramon. And while the two were duelling, I took the chance to escape out of that area."
"A DarkTyrannomon…?" Sunflowmon repeated.
"Wait…" BaoHuckmon turned to ZubaEagermon. "You don't think it's the same one from Training Peak, right?"
"Hmm…" ZubaEagermon pondered, trying to recall his last encounter with him. Seconds later, realization sets in. "It has to be him since he's going to the Forbidden Land to train before having a rematch with me or BaoHuckmon."
"He's fighting against something impossible despite being an Adult Level." BaoHuckmon said.
"I think this is out of his league." Veemon said. "And yet…"
"Hold on… you aren't thinking about helping that DarkTyrannomon, are you?" Gunvolt questioned.
"I know our mission is to bring Phil back to Digi-Central… but…." ZubaEagermon said with worry. "It wouldn't be right to leave him alone. And besides, if he wants a rematch, I'll gladly give him one."
"Master Gankoomon would not look away and help DarkTyrannomon anyway despite the latter being a jerk." BaoHuckmon said.
"So you guys really wanna do this, huh?" Zeo spoke to the two Digimon, responding with a determined nod. "Figured as much. But honestly, I would not want to look away from this either. I'll help those who need help, whether it's friend or foe."
"Same here./Me too." Gaius and Akira agreed.
"Okay. Perfect Levels, we can handle some of them, Arukenimon for example." Kiana said. "An Ultimate Level like Machinedramon on the other hand… not so much."
"Would be nice if he was a Perfect Level instead of an Ultimate, then we might have a chance." Talia said.
"Hmm… I wonder…" Phil pondered after hearing their words.
"Phil, what are you planning?" Copen asked.
"Copen, do you still have the Return Chip prototype?"
"It's with Dr. Kogure for safekeeping until you come back." Copen replied, before realization sets in. "Wait, you're going to use the prototype onto Machinedramon?"
"Actually…" Phil took out the other prototype chip from his pocket. "I want you to test it out. I can't do it because I'm not a Tamer and without a Digimon partner. That, and I need to get my Digivice repaired."
"I see…" Copen noted as he took a moment to think. Once his mind was made up, he took the prototype chip. "Alright, I'll give it a shot. You go back to Ellie at Digi-Central."
"Okay." Phil nodded.
"The Bronya will escort him back safely." Bronya said. "The rest will be up to you."
"And again, I'm sorry for causing trouble for everyone." Phil apologized with a bow. "It won't happen again."
"You better learn from this mistake, or we'll have to find you again." Zeo warned.
"I understand." Phil nodded.
"Using the Gate Disk now." Bronya took out her Gate Disk and activated it.
"Come back safely, guys!" Phil said as he, Bronya and Guardromon warped back to Digi-Central.
"So what's the plan?" Waspmon asked.
"Right now, Machinedramon is focused on DarkTyrannomon. This will give Copen a chance to use the chip onto that Digimon from behind." Zeo replied. "And once he degenerates into a Perfect Level, that'll be our chance to strike."
"Though we should probably hurry before DarkTyrannomon gets deleted." ZubaEagermon stated.
"Copen, you go first and wait for an opening. The rest of us will take positions. You need to stay with us too, Gira." Gaius said.
"Understood." Gira nodded.
"Alright, I'm heading in." Copen nodded, using his Zikan Phone to change into his battlesuit once more and ran inside the next area.
"Kiana, you're gonna need to use my Digimental for this situation." Talia said.
"Okay." Kiana nodded. "But only if the prototype chip works."
"Right then, time to move." Gunvolt declared as the team moved into the next area.
Meanwhile, the duel between DarkTyrannomon and Machinedramon continues. Unfortunately for DarkTyrannomon, he's losing ground as he took massive damage during the fight with scars and bruises all over his body and face, while Machinedramon never had a single bruise or scratch on his cyborg body.
"This is getting tiresome." Machinedramon said to the tired DarkTyrannomon who's down on one knee. "This is far too much for you to handle, so I'm giving you a chance to either walk away, or die."
"...No." DarkTyrannomon refused, slowly back on his two feet. "I will not stop… until I defeat you… and prove that I… am the strongest… without the need… of a Tamer…"
"So this is your answer… Then…" Machinedramon then aimed his large shoulder cannons at the Digimon, charging his energy to full power. "Die."
But right before Machinedramon could fire, he felt his back being punched which caused his whole body to glow. "W-What?!" He exclaimed in shock as he noticed his body glowing. "M-My strength…!"
His body began to change and shrink until the glow faded. In his place is a large skeletal dragon with an organic orange missile on his back and a pulsing core on his chest. "H-Huh?! Why did I degenerate into SkullGreymon?! A Perfect Level Digimon?!"
SkullGreymon
Type: Virus
Level: Perfect
The skeletal Digimon turned around and saw the one responsible for his degeneration. "A human?! What did you do to me?!"
"Okay. Good news, the prototype was a success." Lola whispered. "Bad news, we pissed off a skeletal dragon."
"(Something like this doesn't scare me.)" Copen whispered back, not showing any fear.
"If you're the reason I'm like this, then you die first!" SkullGreymon roared as he was about to stomp onto Copen.
"Sunshine Beam!/Mega Blaster!/Turbo Stinger!"
But then the skeletal Digimon was struck by ranged blasts on the head from the side, sending him crashing to a wall.
"You okay, Ix?" Gunvolt asked as he and the others arrived.
"I'm fine. Not a scratch on me." Copen replied as they stared at the skeletal Digimon. "Looks like the test run was a success. He's now a Perfect Level."
"A SkullGreymon…" Kyubei observed. "How disgusting."
"So this is what a living skeletal dragon Digimon looks like." Kiana remarked. "Yeah, I agree with Kyubei. That thing is definitely going to give kids nightmares."
"Where's DarkTyrannomon?" BaoHuckmon asked, looking around the area, until he found the Digimon heavily breathing in exhaustion. "DarkTyrannomon!" He gasped as he and ZubaEagermon approached him.
"Heh… I was wondering… when you'd… show up…" DarkTyrannomon grinned tiredly.
"I know you want to be the strongest in your own way, but fighting an Ultimate Level is too much for you." ZubaEagermon said.
"This… is nothing… Let me… rest a bit…" DarkTyrannomon replied.
"But-"
ZubaEagermon's conversation was cut short as SkullGreymon got back on his feet and roared in anger.
"As expected from a Perfect Level, it'll take more than that to stop him." Kyubei said.
"Sunflowmon, we're staying with DarkTyrannomon and heal his wounds." Akira said.
"Gotcha." Sunflowmon nodded. "Good thing I have a healing ability."
"I don't… need your help…!" DarkTyrannomon retorted.
"Just shut up and take your medicine!" Sunflowmon retorted back, using her X-Heal skill onto DarkTyrannomon.
"Guys, be careful about SkullGreymon's missile on his back. You get hit from that and it will hurt. A lot." Gira warned. "He also has other attacks you need to watch out for."
"Got it." Waspmon replied as he and the other Digimon nodded. "Can the missile be destroyed though?"
"Better than getting hit by one, at least." Veemon replied. "But I'm not fighting this one unless Gaius uses my Digimental… If I can handle its power, that is."
"Won't know until we find out for ourselves, buddy." Gaius replied.
"Uh… guys? He's doing something." Talia spoke up as they saw SkullGreymon preparing an attack.
"Oblivion Bird!" SkullGreymon launched a barrage of organic missiles from his spine.
"Vantheon"
"Teen Blade"
"Vantheon!/Teen Blade!" Zeo and Gaius ordered as ZubaEagermon and BaoHuckmon leaped ahead with the former spinning like a buzzsaw while the latter with his tail blade rotating. They ploughed through the oncoming missiles till they reached SkullGreymon who blocked both attacks with his hands before grabbing the two Digimon.
"He caught them?!" Gunvolt exclaimed.
"Koenryu(Fox Flame Dragon)"
"Koenryu!" Sakura ordered as Kyubei leaped above, rolling into a fireball, and unleashed a large fire dragon towards SkullGreymon.
However, SkullGreymon retaliated by throwing ZubaEagermon and BaoHuckmon through the fire dragon and collided with Kyubei, sending all three of them crashing to a wall, knocking them out.
"Kyubei!" Sakura gasped.
"I thought he got weaker when he degenerated into Perfect Level!" Joule exclaimed.
"I think we underestimated on what this skeletal dragon could do!" Lola admitted.
Veemon gulped. "This is bad."
"And it's about to get even worse!" Talia exclaimed as they saw SkullGreymon preparing to launch the missile on his back.
"Ground Zero!" SkullGreymon roared, launching the missile as it flew towards the three Digimon.
"Mega Blaster"
"Turbo Stinger"
"Mega Blaster!/Turbo Stinger!" Copen and Gunvolt ordered as the two insect Digimon unleashed their attacks at the oncoming missile. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to stop it as the missile was still flying towards its target.
"It's not destroyed?!" Kiana exclaimed.
"Crap!" Akira cursed. "At this rate, they're done for!"
"Come on, guys! Wake up and get out of there!" Gaius shouted.
While the three Digimon are trying to wake up from their Tamers' shouting, the oncoming missile flew ever closer to its target… until someone stood in front of the three Digimon in a guard stance and took the attack which surprised everyone.
"DarkTyrannomon?!" Veemon exclaimed in shock. "But why…?!"
"I dunno…" DarkTyrannomon replied in exhaustion with his bruised arms pouring out data. "My body… moved on… its own… That… and I still… owe a rematch…"
"DarkTyrannomon…" Zeo and Gaius whispered.
Talia looked at the tired Digimon partners and DarkTyrannomon, and the roaring SkullGreymon with a serious expression. "Kiana. My Digimental. I need its power."
"Considering our options right now, yeah. We're going for it." Kiana nodded with the same expression.
"What about you, Veemon?" Gaius asked.
"...I'm also gonna go for it." Veemon answered with a serious expression. "I'm not waiting for our digital butts to get kicked, and I don't care if I can handle its power or not. If using my Digimental gives me the power of a Royal Knight to beat this thing, then bring it on!"
"Heh, well said." Gaius smirked, using his Digivice to select the Digimental of Miracles. "Kiana, follow my lead and select your Digimental of Light on your Digivice."
"Okay." Kiana nodded and followed his actions.

"And now for the access code." Gaius raised his Digivice. "Digimental Up!"
Veemon began to glow while the Digimental of Miracles appeared from the Digivice before the two floated around each other.
"Veemon, Armor Evolution!" Veemon shouted as the Digimental went inside him, turning him into a golden energy cocoon. His body began to grow to adult size while gold armor plates appeared on his legs, waist, chest, arms and face, and a loin-guard with the same crest as the Digimental. With the transformation complete, the cocoon burst open, revealing his new form. "The Radiance of Miracles, Magnamon!"

The radiant gold light from Magnamon caught everyone's attention in awe which also caused Kyubei, BaoHuckmon and ZubaEagermon to wake up, while SkullGreymon gasped in shock.
"Impossible…!" SkullGreymon exclaimed. "A Royal Knight?! Here?!"
"No gacking way… Magnamon of the Royal Knights?!" BaoHuckmon gasped.
"Whoa…! This Digimon's stats are off the charts!" Lola remarked.
"So this is a Royal Knight… Amazing…" Joule added.
"Heh… not bad…" DarkTyrannomon smirked.
"Wow…" Kiana said in awe.
"Come on, Kiana! I gotta join in!" Talia said.
"O-Oh! Right!" Kiana replied after shaking off her state of shock and raised her Digivice. "Digimental Up!"
The Digimental of Light appeared out of her Digivice as it and Talia floated around each other. "Tailmon, Armor Evolution!" Talia shouted as the Digimental went inside her, transforming her into a light energy cocoon. Her body became adult side and as a quadruped, gains a pair of wings, grey armor platings with gold borders appearing on her chest, shoulders and front limbs, the latter having a red gem each, and a helmet that covered her whole head akin to an Egyptian sphinx cat with a snake on her forehead and an armored bob cut around her head. The cocoon then burst open, revealing her new form. "The Light of Smiles, Nefertimon!"

"An Egyptian sphinx cat with wings?" Kiana remarked before shrugging. "Oh well, I'm not complaining as long as we have a fighting chance."
"Nefertimon…" Akira smiled. "Boy does seeing this Digimon brings back good memories. All we need now is giving Serena's Patamon the Digimental of Hope, if we can find it."
"Maybe some other time." Zeo replied. "Right now though, we've got a skeletal rampage to deal with. Gaius, Kiana, he's all yours."
"Right!" Gaius and Kiana nodded as Magnamon and Nefertimon prepared themselves.
"Grr…! Even with a Royal Knight on your side, that still doesn't scare me! Oblivion Bird!" SkullGreymon roared, firing organic missiles from his spine.
"Plasma Shoot"
"I don't think so. Plasma Shoot!" Gaius ordered as Magnamon fired a storm of ball-shaped plasma from his body, destroying the organic missile with ease and damaging SkullGreymon which pushed him back a few steps.
"Rosetta Stone"
"Rosetta Stone!" Kiana ordered as Nefertimon summoned a megalith in front of her with ancient inscriptions on it and launched it towards SkullGreymon, only for the latter to catch it by the mouth. Kiana however, grinned at that. "Big mistake."
"Queen's Curse"
"Queen's Curse!" Kiana ordered as Nefertimon fired beams from her eyes at the stone, causing it to explode with light which damaged SkullGreymon's mouth.
"Nice one, Kiana!" Sunflowmon praised.
Magnamon saw the opening Nefertimon created and rushed ahead. "Magnum Punch!" He roared, delivering a powerful uppercut that sent SkullGreymon skyward. "Magnum Kick!" He then followed up with a powerful tornado kick that sent SkullGreymon crashing to a wall. "I'm ending this now." He then began generating gold energy from his body.
"Wait, is he using Extreme Jihad?" Zeo observed.
"Hold on… I think he's trying something else to focus on a single target." Gaius replied.
"Shining Gold Solar Storm"
"Oh… so that's what you're going with." Gaius noted after getting a Synchro Command from Magnamon. "Alright then, Shining Gold Solar Storm!"
"Vanish into light." Magnamon said, expanding his generated energy into one powerful golden beam fired from his hands as it struck SkullGreymon's whole body.
"Gaaah! This wouldn't have happened… if I was still… a Machinedramon…!" SkullGreymon roared as the attack from Magnamon completely deleted him with golden light, signalling the end of the battle as Magnamon and Nefertimon reverted back to Veemon and Tailmon respectively, with the former breathing in exhaustion.

"Phew…" Veemon panted. "That was… one heck of a rush…"
"I guess that Digimental was a lot more powerful than we thought." Talia remarked. "At least I feel alright when I use mine."
"Well… lucky you." Veemon deadpanned.
"You wanna take a nap in my Digivice for a bit?" Gaius offered.
"Yeah… a nice nap… would be good right now." Veemon accepted, prompting Gaius to store his Digimon into his Digivice.
"You guys okay?" Zeo asked ZubaEagermon, BaoHuckmon and Kyubei.
"We're fine." ZubaEagermon replied. "But man is Magnamon powerful!"
"As expected of one of the Royal Knights." BaoHuckmon stated.
"However, I'm more concerned about DarkTyrannomon's condition." Kyubei turned to said Digimon, who fell on his back in exhaustion with his body slowly turning into data which shocked everyone.
"DarkTyrannomon?!" Sakura gasped as everyone approached the Digimon.
"Hold on! I'm going to heal you!" Sunflowmon said.
"It's too late… I'm already done for… the moment I took that Ground Zero." DarkTyrannomon slowly replied. "Getting beaten up… by Machinedramon… already made it worse…"
"Don't we have some kind of revival items for this?!" Kiana questioned.
"That won't work… when I'm in a condition this bad… I hate to say it… but you guys are right… I bit off… more than I could chew…"
"Damn it…!" ZubaEagermon muttered with a small tear. "What about our rematch?!"
"Sorry… but that's not happening… anytime soon… But at least… I got to see you… and that evolved Hackmon… one last time…"
"DarkTyrannomon…" BaoHuckmon whispered.
"Promise me one thing… continue to follow… that path you believe in…" DarkTyrannomon spoke his last words as his whole body turned into data and flew off to parts unknown.
Everyone had a sombre expression on their faces after DarkTyrannomon perished. "I know DarkTyrannomon will die at some point… But this feeling hurts a lot more than the one in the game." Zeo thought.
"I know it never crossed my mind but… what happens when a Digimon dies?" Kiana asked.
"The fallen Digimon will be reborn as Digi-Eggs. The stats from their previous life are carried over to the new one, with the exception of their memories, meaning they won't recognize you when they're born." Akira explained. "Although, there are some rare cases of a Digimon remembering its past memories."
"Interesting…" Copen mused.
"The only way for a Digimon to really die is to completely destroy its data." Gaius stated. "But we're not going to do that unless necessary."
"Understood." Gunvolt noted. "Does that mean the Arukenimon we defeated will be reborn as a Digi-Egg at some point with no memories of her previous life?"
"Yep, pretty much." Zeo replied.
"If that's the case…" Sakura looked upwards. "I wonder what DarkTyrannomon will be reborn as when his Digi-Egg hatches?"
"If we can find his Digi-Egg, that is." Kyubei stated. "But finding a particular Digi-Egg will be like finding a needle in a haystack."
"I see." Sakura noted. "I just hope a Tamer will take good care of the reborn Digimon."
"Anyway, let's head back to Digi-Central and report to Ebonwumon. Our mission is complete." Zeo declared, earning a nod from everyone as he used a Gate Disk to warp everyone back to Digi-Central.
Observer Room, Tamer Union, Digi-Central
Once the team returned to the Observer Room, they saw Phil, Ellie, Cecilia, Kanade, Serena, Miku, Houki and Bronya, along with ClavisAngemon and Ebonwumon. Zeo then gave the Observer of the Bronze Tamers his report on the mission which included Magnamon and Nefertimon's appearance which surprised Ebonwumon and ClavisAngemon when a Royal Knight was involved, and DarkTyrannomon's fate that shocked the three Attuned. After giving the report, everyone gave a moment of silence for the fallen Digimon who fought courageously despite being a jerk and not having a Tamer. Zeo then explained how a Digimon dies and lives to the ones that didn't know to give a proper understanding. Once that was taken care of, Phil and Ellie stepped forward.
"Once again, thank you so much for saving me. And I'm really sorry for causing everyone a lot of trouble." Phil bowed.
"Same for me too, unfortunately. Sorry about that." Ellie also bowed.
"As long as you two are safe and learned your lessons from this, then it's fine." Gaius replied.
"However, I should thank you for the Return Chip, Phil." Copen said. "If it weren't for you, Machinedramon would still be there."
"I'm glad the prototype worked. And you're welcome." Phil smiled. "And since it worked, we can start mass-producing it so we can upload them to the Digivices."
"Just try not to get distracted by other things instead." Copen smirked.
"Don't worry, it won't happen again." Phil assured. "By the way, there is one other thing I found in Chrome Mine."
"And what would that be?" Gunvolt asked.
Phil then approached Zeo, pulled out something from his pocket and placed it on Zeo's hand. "It's this."
When Zeo looked at the object Phil gave him, his eyes widened in shock. "No gacking way. A Digimental?!"
"Well this is a surprise." Ebonwumon remarked. "That's the Digimental of Purity!"
"Whoa…" Everyone was in awe as they took a closer look at the Digimental which looked like an egg covered in leaves with the crest at the center, and a shuriken at the bottom.
"So which Digimon can use this Digimental?" Kiana asked.
"A Hawkmon." Bronya answered. "Unfortunately, none of us have one yet."
"...About that." Kanade spoke up. "I did some exploring at Training Peak one time and got scan data for a Hawkmon. I plan to train him eventually."
"Then in that case…" Zeo approached Kanade and gave her the Digimental. "It's yours."
"Thank you! I'll take good care of it!" Kanade grinned, storing the Digimental into her Digivice.
"You should be thanking Phil instead since he's the one who found it." Sakura pointed out.
"Then thanks for the Digimental, Phil!" Kanade smiled.
"You're welcome." Phil blushed.
"Anyway, Phil and I should be heading back to the real world and rest. Thanks again for the help, everyone!" Ellie smiled.
"Take care, and thanks!" Phil waved as he and Ellie left the Observer Room.
"All of this just because of these two." Houki remarked.
"Yeah, some mission this turned out to be." Akira agreed. "But hey, at least we all got stronger in the end."
"And that you did, Xross Drive Rebellion." Ebonwumon agreed. "A job well done from all of you. And with this mission completed, raise your Digivices, Tamers."
The team raised their Digivices as they began to glow. "In thy name of the Observer for the Bronze Tamers…" The Digivices began to flash as their status screens showed a silver symbol each. "I hereby promote the Tamers of the Rebellion into Silver Tamers, giving you access to command Perfect Level Digimon. Congratulations."
"Thank you very much, Ebonwumon!" The team bowed with gratitude.
"You're halfway there to reaching the rank of Platinum Tamer." Ebonwumon said. "Remember to keep up the good work. I would let the Observer of the Silver Tamers take over, but unfortunately he's not back yet since he's still searching the West of the Digital World for your missing friends. We will send word to you when he returns."
"Understood." Miku noted.
"Maybe he might have better luck finding Maria-neesan and the others." Serena said.
"Only time will tell, Serena." ClavisAngemon replied. "Until then, you can take this time to rest until the Observer returns. You've earned it."
"In the meantime, my work here is done. I have other things to do at the moment. Until next time, Xross Drive Rebellion!" Ebonwumon said before warping away.
"By the way Cecilia, what have you been up to?" Houki asked.
"Well, I did befriend a Kotemon at Training Peak and then trained her up with the help of Miku's school friends until she became a Gladimon." Cecilia replied. "She dreams to become as strong as a Royal Knight one day, so I figured I'd help her out."
"And since you're a Silver Tamer like us, you're one step closer to achieving her dream." Akira stated.
Cecilia giggled. "I believe so. No doubt she will digivolve into a Perfect Level knight."
"Speaking of knights…" ClavisAngemon spoke up. "Is Veemon awake at the moment, Gaius? I want to talk to him for a while."
"Is this about Magnamon?" Gaius guessed, earning a nod from the angel. "One sec." He checked his Digivice. "Veemon, you done taking a nap? ClavisAngemon wants to speak to you in person."
"Okay okay, I'm awake!" Veemon replied. "And I was just having a dream, too. Kinda weird though."
"I apologize, but this is a bit important." ClavisAngemon said.
"Alright, I'm coming out." Veemon replied before appearing beside Gaius. "So, what's up?"
"How do you feel when you became Magnamon?" ClavisAngemon asked.
"Hmm…" Veemon hummed with his arms crossed. "It felt like… I undergo a Warp Digivolution into an Ultimate in one go. So much overwhelming power. But it's very taxing if you don't know how to use it properly."
"An understandable reaction for first-time users." ClavisAngemon noted. "Most Digimon digivolve one level at a time, while warp digivolution are rare occurrences that's only obtainable by special methods."
"Case in point, the Digivices and the Crests, with a touch of holy light." Zeo thought.
"Any other reactions besides that, Veemon?" ClavisAngemon asked.
"Well…" Veemon pondered. "I did have this weird dream earlier when I was taking a nap after that battle with SkullGreymon."
"Please describe what you can remember from that dream of yours." ClavisAngemon insisted.
"Okay, let's see… It all started when I was flying to an unknown destination as Magnamon. Only difference is that I somehow mastered the form."
"Never underestimate the power of dreams." Akira stated. "So what happened once you reached your destination?"
"When I arrived, I was in a very large open area where other elite Digimon were waiting. The place felt like I was in the very center of the Digi-World."
"What do those Digimon look like?" Cecilia asked.
"Hmm…" Veemon pondered. "I think they look like knights."
"Elite knights…" Gaius mused with his hand on his chin. "Could they be the Royal Knights?"
"Most likely." Zeo replied. "When I think of elite Digimon knights, I think of the Royal Knights."
"Anything else?" Gunvolt asked.
"Moments later, something large appeared before me and the knights." Veemon continued. "It's like I'm staring at a deity or something."
"A deity like the Sovereign Digimon?" Serena guessed.
"I think it's beyond that." Veemon replied. "More like… the creator of the Digital World."
"Royal Knights… Creator of the Digital World… Did Veemon saw…?" ClavisAngemon thought before asking. "And what happened next?"
"The deity was about to give out the next order, but then… something went wrong." Veemon continued. "It suddenly roared in pain as if he was hit by a virus. And then, the deity's body glowed red and attacked us without warning. Some of us were able to evade the attacks, but everyone else was not so lucky and were defeated easily. None of us were expecting the deity to suddenly go out of control, so we had no choice but to fight it in order for him to calm down. During the fight however, the deity suddenly stopped attacking and screamed in pain once more… before letting out one large explosion that effected everyone in the area. It was so powerful that it forced me to block while covering my face. When I regain my sight moments later, I was on the ground… crawling forward in another location, and in serious pain. Eventually, I saw a small hut that somehow looks like Pandamon's hut… and that's when the dream ends when Gaius contacted me which woke me up."
"Oh… sorry about that, buddy." Gaius apologized, rubbing the back of his head.
"It's fine." Veemon replied. "Like I said, the dream was long and weird. What do you think, ClavisAngemon?"
ClavisAngemon processed the info of Veemon's dream into his mind for several seconds before answering with a nod. "Thank you for the explanation, Veemon. With this, I can finally clarify what that dream is."
"So what is it?" Zeo asked.
"...That was no mere dream, because it actually happened before… last year, on the month of December." ClavisAngemon revealed.
"...WHAT?!" Team XDR exclaimed in shock.
"As for you being Magnamon…" ClavisAngemon spoke to Veemon. "You were actually relieving memories of the previous Magnamon."
"...Are you serious?!" Veemon exclaimed with wide eyes.
"Everyone, what I am about to tell you is highly confidential, so please keep this conversation a secret. Understood?" ClavisAngemon requested, earning a nod from the team. "Good. Let's start from the beginning. During the month of December in a few days before the new year, the Royal Knights were gathering at the core of the Digital World to await the next order from the creator of the Digital World. Before that order was given however, the creator suddenly went berserk and attacked the Royal Knights without warning. As the knights fought bravely to calm the creator down, the creator suddenly let out a powerful explosion that obliterated the knights, which also caused it to shut down permanently with no hope of restoration."
"Hold on!" BaoHuckmon interrupted, appearing beside Gaius. "That's what happened to them while Master Gankoomon and I were gone?! How do you know all of this?!"
"...From the remaining survivor of the explosion, Alphamon, my close friend."
"No way…" BaoHuckmon whispered in shock. "Then the rest of the Royal Knights are…"
ClavisAngemon sadly shook his head. "...I'm sorry, they're all gone."
"..." BaoHuckmon lowered his head without saying a word for a few moments before speaking again. "...I see. You know… I think my Master dodged a huge bullet for not attending the meeting, so that's something I'm relieved with. So where is Alphamon anyway?"
"...Unfortunately, he left to parts unknown without saying a word." ClavisAngemon answered. "The only thing he left for me is a written message that he's leaving the Digital World in my care while he searches for a way to bring the creator back to life, and I'm not even sure when he'll return."
"Alphamon…" BaoHuckmon whispered.
"So this is what happened to Alphamon in this version…" Zeo thought. "At least this Alphamon has a reason why he left ClavisAngemon. But… I fear that his good intentions to search for a solution might bring severe consequences."
"Wait a minute." Sakura spoke to ClavisAngemon. "If what you said is true about Veemon reliving the life of the previous Magnamon, then the last moments Magnamon saw… I think he crash landed in Sheer Valley, which would explain Pandamon's hut!"
"Hey, you're right!" Akira realized. "Then in his dying moments, he reverted back to a Veemon and gave Pandamon the Digimental of Miracles for safe keeping!"
"And now…" Veemon pointed at himself. "I'm taking over the mantle as the new Magnamon. A Royal Knight."
"So that explains why Pandamon has that Digimental." Gaius mused. "Huh, the more you know."
"And that also explains how Veemon was able to see the memories of the previous Magnamon thanks to the Digimental." Zeo stated.
"Still…" Kanade pondered with her hand on her chin. "I have to wonder what caused the creator to go berserk."
"Does the creator have a name?" Serena asked the angel Digimon.
"Ah, apologies. I forgot to mention that." ClavisAngemon replied. "The name of the creator and deity of the Digital World… is Yggdrasil."
"..."
"..."
"...YGGDRASIL?!" The three Attuned exclaimed in shock.
"Wait. Why are they shocked about the name?" Gunvolt questioned.
"...I think I know why." Copen answered with a serious expression. "Remember the Shem-Ha incident around the end of December where she plans to use Yggdrasil to destroy the planet?"
"...?!" Gunvolt's eyes widened in shocking realization. "Son of a bitch, her actions also affected the Yggdrasil of the Digital World!"
"What?!" ClavisAngemon exclaimed. "You know the reason why Yggdrasil went berserk?!"
"Zeo-san, please contact Genjuro-san immediately! He needs to know about this!" Miku requested.
"I'm on it." Zeo complied, taking out his Zikan Phone to call Genjuro. "I can't believe Shem-Ha's influence also affected the Digital World… This is one serious unexpected turn of events…"

Author's Note: Well... that's one way to close a chapter. So yeah... Shem-Ha's actions during Symphogear XV also affected the Yggdrasil of the Digital World, which is the reason why the deity went berserk and obliterated the Royal Knights, leaving Alphamon as the lone survivor, though Gankoomon dodged a bullet by not attending the meeting.
On the bright side, Team XDR are now Silver Tamers, meaning they can command Perfect Level Digimon. Just one rank away and they'll have a chance to command Ultimates. That, and they have three Digimentals at their disposal, especially Magnamon.
