AN- If anyone is still reading I'm back! I'm so sorry I know I've been forever but we had major problems. We had a leak in the house and when the repairman looked he said the leak had been going for a long time and had damaged the joust. An inspector got called. Our house was declared unsafe. Because of this, we had to get out. Yeah, we owned a three-bedroom house with a huge backyard for our dogs and we were homeless at the same time. We stayed in our cars, friends' houses, family's houses, and for a few nights a tent in the backyard. Then we met a wonderful lady through family who got us a place to stay and made us a deal to trade our old house for another less expensive house. We are in a temporary house which is very nice until the new one is ready. In this move, the screen of my computer was messed up. I could read on my phone but not really write. But now my screen is fixed and I have a new laptop!
AN- Juniper finally has some reunions she had been longing for. She also has a little chat with the Maximoff twins. After a little trip through her memories, Wanda decides maybe her life hasn't been so bad and maybe her hatred of Tony can be redirected towards HYDRA.

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN
"I would suggest just concentrating on trying to call someone with a connection to yourself whether biological or emotional" Loki suggested as the others stood back watching.
Juniper nodded trying not to look as nervous as she was. She knew who she wanted to see. She loved her parents, James and Lily, but it was in an abstract way. She loved the vague memories of them. She loved the idea of who they had been but...Sirius. In the much too short time they'd had together he had been her rock, her family, her hope. She'd never gotten to say goodbye. Never had any closure. Never even had a grave to visit as they'd been no body. She wanted Sirius.
"Now turn the stone in your hand three times." Juniper nodded and did so.
Between one breath and the next, they were there. Not one form but four. For a moment Juniper felt like she couldn't breathe her eyes on the four she had loved and lost.
Cedric Diggory. Tall and handsome with a warm grin. She had loved him. A small part of her always would. He'd always been so good. So loyal and kind. He had deserved so much better. She knew now they never would have lasted as a couple. What she'd felt for him had been like a muggle sparkler. Bright and pretty but destined to go out quickly and likely to burn you if you weren't careful. She liked to think they would have always remained friends but regardless she had no doubt he would have remained at her side and fought for the light.
James Potter. Frozen forever at 21. Just like the night in the graveyard, there was nothing in his expression that even hinted he loved her an iota less than he would a child of his blood. Even though he wasn't her biological father, even though she knew he'd been a bit of a bully when he was younger he would always be her hero. The man who had loved her and treated her as his own. Right up to giving his life for the sliver of a chance of her and her mum escaping.
Lily Potter. Younger than Pepper, hair darker, and with the same green eyes as Juniper but they could easily pass for sisters. Her mum. A word that had held so much power for her since she'd been told of how Lily had sacrificed herself to save her. Even more, since the dementors had forced forward the memory of how she had begged for her baby's life, begged to be allowed to take her place.
Sirius Black. Despite what she knew Remus and her friends thought she knew Sirius hadn't been perfect. He had however understood her in a way no one else ever had, supported her in a way she had desperately needed and he had loved her. When Sirius Black loved someone he did so fiercely, loyally, limitlessly. It was why Peter's betrayal had torn him up so badly. When he had told Peter he should have died rather than betray his friends as they all would have for him it hadn't been just empty words. Sirius would have stood between Peter and an army expecting the same from him. Sirius was her role model in a lot of things, love and loyalty topping the list. He looked good. Better than she'd ever seen him in life. Healthy. All the marks Azkaban had left on him were gone.
"You came." The words escaped Juniper's lips without her permission her eyes filling with tears she fought to keep from falling.
"We never left." Lily said eyes only for her daughter as she held her hands out to Juniper.
"Mum." Juniper whispered softly. She reached out to take her hands but they passed right through each other. The looks of devastation on both their faces were nearly identical and heartbreaking. "I remembered Mum. I always remembered." She said the tears falling as her mum's last words to her played in her head at the sound of her voice.
"Oh, my baby. You've been so brave, love. We are so proud of you." Her gaze shifted slightly to light on Hermione and Ron for a moment. "All three of you. I could not have imagined better mates for my girl." Ron blushed as Hermione tried to blink back the tears in her own eyes.
"I'm so sorry." Juniper whispered. "I never wanted you to die for me. None of you." Her eyes went to the other three for a moment.
"It's not your fault love. It was never your fault." James said his voice gentle.
"We made our choices. We don't regret them." Cedric told her with his trademark charming grin.
"Cedric, your dad..."
"I know Juni. It's okay. He's home with me and mum now. Not to mention the Diggory family will go down as legends. Everyone will remember my father as the man the Dark Lord was so threatened by that he sent his own familiar to kill him."
"Ced..."
"Juniper, do you remember what you said to me in the maze before we took the cup?" He interrupted reading her expression easily enough.
"No." Juniper answered but it was with a stubborn expression familiar to anyone who knew a Stark. She remembered and they all knew it.
"If things go sideways just remember I warned you." Cedric said expression serious now. "I entered the tournament of my own free will, I talked you into taking the cup, I didn't run when you told me to. If you want to blame someone blame me. Allow me the dignity of my own choices Juniper. I'm proud of the life I lived and the choices I made. If I was meant to die young I'm glad I went out a hero. Standing between someone I cared about and someone who wanted to hurt them."
Juniper felt as if Cedric's words had lifted a weight off her shoulders. Everyone else could say the words, tell her it wasn't her fault, but Cedric saying it meant so much more. "You were always a hero Cedric. To the Hufflepuffs, to the younger years, to me."
"Then do me a favor?" Cedric requested. "Don't live carefully. You, Juniper Potter, were meant to live life fearlessly, audaciously, full speed ahead. Trust your instincts, trust your friends and family, and don't ever let anyone tell you that you don't deserve to have everything you want. Most of all when you find love grab it with both hands and never let go." He glanced over her shoulder at Bucky giving the older man a wink.
A trembley smile appeared on Juniper's face and she nodded. Tony stepped up beside Juniper putting a comforting arm around her. He could feel his anger at Lily cooling as he saw the pain in her expression. She still looked so young. She and James both. They had barely been older than Juniper was now when they had died. They may not have been drafted as young as Juniper and her friends but they had been child soldiers just the same. Their only worries should have been finding a babysitter so they could go out for a few hours on the weekend or a funny noise their car (broom?) was making. Instead, they'd been fighting a war, watching their friends dying, with a monster out to murder their baby, and suspecting one of their friends of betraying them.
He would never stop wishing he'd been there for Juniper, never stop regretting all he'd missed and all the pain he hadn't been able to spare her but he couldn't be angry with Lily about it anymore. Not when he truly looked at the situation through the eyes of a grown man, a soldier who'd fought his own wars, and realized how scared she must have been and how few options she had seen.
"Tony." Lily said giving him a sad smile.
"Lily." Tony answered softly.
"I'm so sorry." She told him as James reached out taking her hand able to touch each other if not the living.
"You did what you thought you had to." He said his voice gruff as he tried to hold back his emotions. "You kept...our baby safe." He nodded at James and Sirius as well. "You all kept our girl safe. Now it's my turn. Me and Remus will take her the rest of the way."
Gratitude showed in Lily's eyes as she smiled at him and then looked over to Pepper. "And Pepper." She added. "Thank you for what you said to Petunia. I can't tell you how many times I would have sold my soul to be corporeal for just five minutes to be able to do what you did. Arabella and Molly did a lot for my girl but I am so glad she now has her own mum."
Pepper smiled at the other woman tears in her eyes. "She's easy to love." She said glancing at Juniper. "If your sister is too blind to see what a beautiful sweet smart child she had the chance to raise I'm more than glad to take advantage of her stupidity."
Pepper's words had Juniper blushing and raising a hand to rub the tears from her eyes. As she did so she caught James Potter's eyes and he gave her that kind gentle smile she remembered. "Papa." She said softly.
"Junebug." James answered his voice warm. "You remember?"
"A little." Juniper answered. "I remember biscuits and bubbles. And flying."
Lily laughed the sound almost musical. "Of course you do. You two and your Quidditch." She shook her head and glanced over to Hermione. "Terrifying." Hermione nodded in sympathy.
"Come on Lily-flower that Wronski Feint of hers is flawless. One of the prettiest moves I've ever seen." Juniper nearly beamed in pleasure at his words.
"The youngest seeker in a century." Sirius Black spoke for the first time.
Juniper looked over to him lip trembling. She had cried enough already, she told herself firmly. "Siri. You look good."
"I've always looked good." Sirius answered with a roguish grin and a wink.
Juniper laughed softly. "I miss you."
"I know Bambi. I hear you when you talk to me." He glanced at Remus. "Both of you." His eyes went back to Juniper. "Do you remember what I told you that night in third year?"
Juniper nodded. "Those who love us never truly leave us. We can always find them here." She put a hand over her heart.
Sirius nodded. "I will always be in your heart. I will always be in your laugh and your streak of mischief. I would like to think I will also be in your great capacity for love. It's unfair that we had so little time together but in that time I gave you everything you need. I gave you the most important lessons I had to teach. You are our legacy." He motioned at James, Lily, and even Cedric. "Our gift to the world and we couldn't be more proud of you. Letting us go to find a new family doesn't mean forgetting us."
"As if anyone could forget you." Juniper said a tremble back in her voice.
"True enough." Sirius answered with a slight smirk straightening his jacket. "We will all be together again one day. But for now, you have things to do and a life to live." He looked over to Remus. "Both of you do."
"Siri." Remus almost whispered looking unsure if he should drop Steve's hand or hold on tighter.
"It's amazing Remus. Love it doesn't die. It just gets stronger, purer." He shook his head slightly as if in wonder. "You were my first love. My only love. But I'm not there with you anymore. What kind of love would it be if I wanted you to be alone for the rest of your life? I want you to be happy. If Captain Cutie there makes you happy..." He seemed to check out Steve very carefully with a slight smirk bringing a blush to the blound's cheeks. "All I can do is compliment you both on your excellent taste."
"Are you positive you are not related to Tony?" Rhodey asked the similarities in the two men surprising him a bit.
"Not to my knowledge. My family would never admit any ties to a muggle but you never know maybe a lost Black Squib dipped into the Stark gene pool at some point." Sirius answered with a wink.
Sirius expression changed into a serious one when Remus whispered. "Thank you, Padfoot."
"You don't owe me a thank you Moony. If it wasn't for you James, Lily, and our little Bambi I never would have known what a real family was. I expect without that I would have ended up in a much more unpleasant place than where I am now."
Lily reached out putting a gentle hand on his arm. "We have to go."
"Already?" Juniper said weakly.
"Oh, sweetie we will always be with you even if you can't see us. But the longer we stay the longer it will draw on your magic. You need all the strength you can gather for what is coming and we don't belong to this place anymore. We can already feel the pull to return." Lily answered.
"Yet she was sad and cold, separated from him as by a veil. Though she had returned to the mortal world, she did not truly belong there and suffered." Hermione said softly repeating the line from the tale of the three brothers.
James nodded for Lily and looked over to Remus. "You are the last original Maruder standing Remus." He smiled. "I doubt any of us saw that coming all things considered." There'd been bets between them in school whether the toll of lycanthropy on Remus's body or Sirius's recklessness would make them the first to go. None of them had dreamed it would be James. "Take care of our girl yeah?"
"Of course." Remus agreed.
"Sweetheart it's time." Lily said softly.
Juniper held out her trembling hand and turned it over dropping the stone into Pepper's hand with a softly whispered. "Goodbye."
The four shades were gone between one blink and the next. Lily's last words whispered into the room. "We love you Juniper. Always."
"I love you too Mum."
"Juni, kiddo?" Tony's voice was filled with concern as she continued to stare at the spot where the shades had just stood.
Juniper turned and looked up at Tony her eyes shining. With tears, with emotion. with power, he wasn't quite sure. "I'm fine Dad." She said before hugging him for a moment.
Tony hugged her tightly brushing a kiss over the top of her head.
"How do you feel?" Loki asked. "Was there a noticeable drain on your magic?"
"No." Juniper answered after a moment. "No more than if I'd cast a few wandless charms."
Loki gave a triumphant smirk. "All hail the Master of Death."
Juniper groaned aloud. "Why can't it be Master of Butterflies?"
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX
"So we have a plan." Steve said glancing around at the faces of all the others in the room. For the most part, no one seemed thrilled with the plan except for maybe Loki. But then he didn't expect them to be. He didn't doubt every single person present would rather it be them that was facing the majority of the danger rather than Juniper. Except for Juniper of course who looked completely calm. She was just entirely too comfortable taking the majority of the load onto her own shoulders.
"We have a plan." Juniper nodded.
"And when the plan goes sideways we wing it as usual." Ron said with a slight smirk. Hermione gave him a disapproving scowl. He shrugged. "When have any of our plans actually worked out?"
"You never had us before." Clint pointed out. "You may be good but you're not Captain America. The man with the plan."
"Still British." Juniper sing-songed. "Not everybody worships Uncle Sam, apple pie, and Captain America. No offense Steve."
"None taken." Steve answered in amusement.
"If we have to improvise we will but let's not go in assuming things will go wrong." Hermione said with a sigh.
"Right." Peter said with a nod then jumped slightly as there was suddenly a rapid tapping at the window.
"Relax it's just an owl." Juniper assured him then when the tapping didn't stop a smile appeared. "And I think I know which one." Most mail owls tapped a few times and then waited politely. She only knew one was always too hyper and excited to do so.
Ron let out a groan as she stood and crossed to the window and opened it to admit a tiny grey owl clutching a rolled-up piece of parchment in both claws. He hooted in delight and swooped around the kitchen as if studying everybody and everything in sight.
"Pig, cut it out just deliver the letter." Ron said in exasperation. Juniper wasn't sure if it was Ron's words or the sharp bark that Hedwig let out that had the little owl landing unsteadily in front of his owner and dropping the letter in Ron's hand.
Juniper leaned over to gently rub Pig's head. "Don't be mean he just gets excited." Then she glanced at the others. "This is Pigwidgeon, Pig Ron's owl."
"He's adorable." Peter said reaching out to stroke Pig's head lightly. Hedwig let out a sniff. She had always considered Pig's manner undignified for a mail owl. Juniper thought he was brilliant, his curiosity and enthusiasm charming. She wasn't entirely sure he'd been trained properly anyway. It would have been very like Sirius to choose a half-trained owl to deliver a letter to the Hogwarts Express and become Ron's new pet.
"Bill and Sam have arrived in Diagon Alley with the SHIELD agents and Squib soldiers they will be leaving for Hogsmeade tomorrow." Ron said eyes on the parchment he'd unrolled as Peter and Juniper fussed over Pig.
"We should do the same." Hermione said softly. "We'll be able to move a bit faster as we're a smaller group so we'll be able to do a little recon before they arrive."
"In that case, I have one more thing to take care of today." Juniper said her eyes flashing and a smirk turning her lips.

The girl was pale with a black and purple bruise on her face where Juniper had hit her but her expression was angry and defiant. Either brave or stupid for someone facing a room full of people who had no reason to feel lenient towards her. The boy had a hint of uncertainty on his face and kept twitching desperately trying to escape the binding spell Kreacher held them in. Juniper barely suppressed a snort of amusement. Yeah, good luck with that. Kreacher had been a Black elf for a very very long time which meant restraining both their enemies and family members who'd gone a bit barmy.
Kreacher held out two plastic cards to Juniper who paused for a moment then took them from his tiny hand. A show of trust. She knew too much about portkeys to accept things just anyone handed her. "Let's see then." She looked down at the HYDRA security keycards. "You just carry these around on missions? Seems a bit daft to me. Wanda Maximoff, and Pietro Maximoff. Married?"
"Siblings." Pietro answered his teeth unclenching a bit.
"Hmm." Juniper glanced at Wanda and then back to Pietro. "I don't see it." She commented. True enough the two looked nothing alike.
"Let us go." The girl growled her voice a bit huskier than Juniper had expected.
"Last time you weren't restrained you attacked my dad and my cousin. You..." Juniper glanced at Pietro. "attacked my best friends and my...Leta. I really don't feature allowing you to wander about my house, and I'm definitely not letting you run back to HYDRA after Kreacher went to all the trouble of dragging you here."
Leta had to turn her head slightly to hide her reaction to how Juniper referred to her. She'd almost forgotten how funny teenagers could be.
"Release us now or I'll make you suffer!" Wanda yelled.
"You'll make me suffer?" Juniper repeated a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. "Really? You sound like a villain in one of my cousin's cartoons." Then her expression hardened. "You are in my house now. My world. You have no idea what your playing with."
"Playing with? This is not a game." Wanda nearly yelled frustration burning in her eyes both from not being able to escape her bonds and from Stark's daughter not taking her seriously.
"Then why don't you tell me what 'this' is? Granted I haven't seen a ton of HYDRA agents but you two really don't seem the type." Juniper asked raising an eyebrow. "Mutant teenagers are rarely recruited to join up with underground fascist terrorist organizations."
"We aren't mutants." Pietro finally decided to speak. "Not that there's anything wrong with that or anything. But we aren't. HYDRA gave us our powers. Experimental treatment but it worked."
Juniper frowned slightly. "Did they kidnap you or something?" She asked remembering what they had done to Bucky.
"Of course not." Wanda hissed. "We volunteered. They offered us a chance to get revenge on the man who murdered our parents." She turned her gaze to Juniper's father. "Tony Stark."
Tony looked at the two in shock as the twins glared at him hatefully. "Ohhh villan origin story 247." Peter whispered in Juniper's ear. "Poor pitiful orphans."
"Me too." Juniper said with a shrug.
"Same." Peter confirmed with a nod.
"When did I kill your parents?" Tony asked a bit pale.
"Sokovia. 10-years-ago." Pietro answered coldly. "Your bombs hit our apartment building. 83 people in that one building died including our parents. I managed to grab Wanda and pull her into a closet to safety. Relative safety."
"Another bomb hit. Came right through the ceiling and landed in the perfect spot to block the door and didn't blow. We spent days trapped in that closet looking at your name on that bomb." Wanda's accent had thickened.
10-years-ago. Back when Obi was handing his weapons out to monsters and madmen like party favors. Granted very expensive party favors but still... He may not have profited from the death of these kid's parents but he had invented the weopons. His company had made them, and if he'd been overseeing things as he should have been the sale never would have been allowed.
Juniper moved closer to her father's side and slid her hand around his squeezing tightly for a moment. "So why not go after whoever actually fired the missile? Or maybe those who provoked them into doing so? Maybe even the one who gave the information that led to your home being targeted?"
"HIS name was on the missile." Wanda snarled. "And you two are hardly real orphans are you? The Stark Bastards isn't that what the press has taken to calling you two?"
"WHAT? Another title?" Juniper cried then glanced over at Peter. "At least we're sharing this one." Peter gave her a bright grin. He'd long gotten used to the reporters assuming he was Tony's kid. Harley who'd also been in a few news stories on the other hand always snarled insults about the reporters for days afterward for slandering his mother's good name. Juniper who did technically fit the definition didn't seem to mind so much.
"You have NO IDEA what it's like to watch someone you love die in front of you. To be trapped and just waiting to die. To be helpless, powerless, and in pain. What's the worst thing that has ever happened to you princess? Run out of nail polish?"
Ron let out a snicker. "Oh boy, do you ever have the wrong girl."
"So you are fond of bad memories hmmm? Seem a bit obsessed, to be honest. Forcing others to relive their most painful moments." The green of her eyes seemed to grow darker as she spoke stepping away from the others closer to Wanda.
Clint leaned closer to Ron. "Is that..." He trailed off but his meaning was clear.
"Oh no that's not Black. That's more dangerous in some ways. That's Juniper Potter pissed off." Ron whispered back.
"I wonder do you even bother watching the memories? Memories so much worse than what you have in your empty little head." Juniper asked. Wanda gasped and started to answer but Juniper waved her wand and she found herself unable to talk. "Enough of your self-righteous babble. You attacked my cousin. Granted Draco is no angel and has done some horrible things he needs to make amends for but that is not your debt to call in. You forced him to relive being attacked by a monster the likes of which you can't even imagine. You forced my father to relive one of the most painful and terrifying moments in his life. You tried to attack my boyfriend, tried to make him relive the decades he spent being tortured by the monsters you work for. You would have come for me next I imagine? Forced me to relive the most horrible moments of my life? I was once told I had true horrors in my past. Horrors my classmates could scarcely imagine." She glanced over at Remus. "Maybe she is part dementor."
"Somehow I doubt that." Remus answered in the dry tone he used when refusing to entertain one of Juniper's wilder theories. It was a tone he'd used a lot as a teen as the most sensible of the Marauders.
Juniper shrugged before turning back to Wanda. "Maybe it's time you get to see some true horrors hmm? You wanted me to relive my worst memories? Okay. But you are coming with me."
Hermione and Ron exchanged a concerned wide-eyed look but neither moved to stop her. "Inpertio memoria." She almost whispered her wand moving in a new movement.
Hermione didn't expect it to work. It wasn't a real spell (and who had taught Juniper Latin anyway?) but somehow as so often with Juniper something that shouldn't work at all did. Although maybe not quite as she'd intended.
Juniper's mind had been working over and reviewing the trick she'd played on Tom during the attack on Diagon Ally. She'd found that now as she'd used mind magic even though it had been started by Tom she understood it more although not perfectly. Still, this was impetuous and reckless (something she was sure Hermione and Remus would point out later.) but she let her magic know what she wanted and the words and wand movements seemed to come on their own.
The light instead of enveloping only Wanda and Juniper spread through the whole room and memories filled the minds of all those in the room. A whole lifetime full of pain and fear.
Peter and Pietro watching helplessly as the toddler heard her father's death saw her mum's death trapped in her crib after screaming for her mumma and papa not understanding why they weren't coming.
Tony unable to do anything as he saw Vernon Dursley whipping his tiny child. Breaking her arm. Screaming abuse and flinging her into the cupboard like a broken doll.
Bruce's skin started to gain a green tint as he watched Hermione screaming in terror and cringing under a sink from a huge monster that looked like something from Lord of the Rings.
Natasha's hands fisted in impotent rage as an eleven-year-old, a baby, had to make the choice of killing a man she never should have been forced to fight.
Loki and Steve who had been curious about how a twelve-year-old had killed a 60-foot basilisk alone got to witness it first hand.
Clint and Rhody who'd been convinced dementors were the most horrible thing they had ever heard of watched as they tried to suck out their niece's soul while she was 500 feet up on a broom and they watched her fall.
Remus's legs gave out and he sat hard on the floor watching as Moony, as he, stalked and very nearly killed Juniper and Hermione.
Bucky who'd used the nickname Dragonslayer, and Thor who'd doubted Juniper's status as a warrior nearly went into horror-induced shock watching a 14-year-old outfly and trick a full-grown mother dragon.
Ron and Hermione saw themselves, Gabrielle Delacour and Ben Travis bound and unconscious looking more dead than alive at the bottom of the Black Lake. Watching as Juniper nearly panicked trying to save them all then almost drowning.
Pepper gritted her teeth and tried not to cry as a woman who looked more like a pink toad than anything forced Juniper to mutilate her own hand. Her words were almost worse than the scars that were carved into her skin.
Leta's face paled as she watched Juniper and Dumbledore in a small boat. Juniper was frantically trying to paddle them across a lake filled with inferi that were trying to pull themselves onto the boat. Trying to grab both the girl and the old man to add them to their army of the dead. Dumbledore looked sick half-dead but he pulled himself up and then to his feet. He cried out the incantation "Pestis Incendium." Fiendfire burst from the wand setting the inferi on fire. They screamed in agony sinking back into the water but it didn't extinguish the fire and in moments the flame animals seemed to fill the lake turning it into a lake of fire.
The others saw these things. Wanda saw it all. Experienced it all. Felt the grief, confusion, fear, pain, anger, and helplessness that Juniper had. Wanda was sobbing eyes closed tightly slumping in her invisible bonds.
"Be strong little villain. One more to go." Juniper purred.
They all got this one. Juniper's worst memory. They were standing in a dimly lit room faced with 5 adults each holding a teenager wand pressed to their throats. Ron, and Hermione, along with 3 others whom they could recognize from the stories they'd heard as Ginny Weasley, Luna Lovegood, and Neville Longbottom. Juniper was facing a tall blond man who they would have been able to identify as Draco's father even if they hadn't already heard part of this story.
"Give me the prophecy or watch your friends die." He said in a smooth voice holding out a hand.
"Don't do it Juniper." Neville yelled getting him an especially hard jab from Bellatrix who was holding him.
Juniper lifted her hand holding a softly glowing orb and started to hand it to the man. Her motion was interrupted by a series of bright flashes of light and they heard a gruff voice. "Get away from my goddaughter." Sirius Black. The punch he delivered to Lucius Malfoy was glorious. The other lights were other witches and wizards including Juniper's cousin Dora, Remus, and Kingsley Shacklebolt. It only took them moments to have the teens out of the Deatheater's grasp pushed behind them mostly out of the line of fire.
Juniper looked Lucius Malfoy right in the eye and she turned slightly and hurled the glowing orb against the nearest wall smashing it. If the Deatheaters wanted it that bad it was better off destroyed. Then Sirius was grabbing her and pulling her behind a stone pillar that shielded them from spellfire.
"Juniper listen to me." Sirius said putting a hand to her cheek to gain her attention. "I want you to take the others and get out."
"W...What?" Juniper asked in confusion looking up at him. "No. I want to stay with you." She pleaded.
"Bambi, you've done beautifully. Let me take it from here." He answered. But before either of them could speak another word they were interrupted when spellfire hit the pillar between them. They both turned and found themselves facing a now enraged Lucius Malfoy and another Deatheater.
Within seconds wands were waving spells firing. The same thing was happening all over the room with the Order of the Phoenix facing off with the death eaters. For the most part, the rest of Juniper's friends had stepped back watching the older fighter's backs. The Weasley girl was at Remus's side her spells seeming particularly vicious, and Juniper was side by side with Sirius as they dueled the two death eaters. The sound of spellfire and Bellatrix's insane laughter echoed through the stone-walled chamber as Juniper and Sirius both stepped backward onto a raised platform to give them the high ground.
Sirius looked as if he was thrilled at the chance to fight. He looked alive. Happy and in his element. He was a good dueler too. Juniper was also good her spells mostly seemed to be something that knocked her opponent back and shields but her opponent wasn't able to shield from her or hit her with his own spells. It was somehow hilarious how frustrated the wizard seemed, impressive that she was more than holding her own against a wizard three times her age, and heart-breaking seeing how happy she and Sirius looked knowing what was coming.
Tony immediately noticed when Juniper used a different spell. He was starting to memorize which wand movements went with each spell. This one not only knocked her opponent backward but opened a slash across his chest that sent him to the floor.
"HA! Nice one Bambi." Sirius called out a note of delight in his voice.
And then it happened. A flash of green light hit Sirius square in the chest as a harsh female voice called out "Avada Kedavra!". Looking past Sirius Juniper saw Bellatrix as she lowered her wand. For half a second Juniper thought she saw regret in the woman's eyes then a superior smirk took its place.
Then there was only Sirius his grey eyes meeting Juniper's green ones. There was a surprise in his. Surprise that his reckless confidence had finally brought him to the end his brother, Remus, and Lily had always warned him of. Sorrow came next apology in his eyes as if in his last moments he was trying to tell Juniper he was sorry he was leaving her. Then relief as a last soft breath escaped his lips and his body fell backwards through the veil.
It happened so fast. So very fast. That night it had seemed to last forever. A lifetime. Juniper lunged forward convinced that if she could just reach him, just pull him back she could somehow save him. And if not, if she'd passed through the veil and passed into the next life, as long as she was with him well that would be okay too.
Remus caught her around the waist pulling her back against his chest only his extra strength from Moony allowing him to hold her. The look on his face was devastated. Juniper was suddenly hit with the knowledge that the only thing that had stopped Remus from following Sirius into the veil had been...her.
Juniper nearly bent double over Remus's arms feeling as if her heart were being ripped from her and let out a scream filled with rage, grief, and pain eyes blinded by tears. She blinked rapidly trying to see. A part of her was convinced if she just kept her eyes on the veil Sirius would come back through. He wouldn't leave her! He wouldn't! He'd promised. They were going to be a family! Sirius had never broken a promise to her. Please please please she mentally pled with any deity that might be listening. Please she'd already lost so much. Just let her have this one little thing. Just don't take Sirius away too.
She caught sight of dark hair out of the corner of her eye and her head whipped around. Bellatrix was standing near the entryway that led from the chamber they were into the main hallway of the ministry a gleeful smirk on her face. The rage flared up wiping away the other emotions. Remus had relaxed his hold a bit as she'd stopped trying to dive into the veil and her change of direction allowed her to pull out of his arms. She raced after Bellatrix who gave her a full manic grin before she turned and ran.
The spell ended with a soft pop. "So tell me again about running out of nail polish?" Juniper said to Wanda her voice still cold. Then she actually looked at the other girl. She was limp in her invisible bonds, tears running down her face, sobs still silent from Juniper's earlier spell twisting her features.
Juniper frowned slightly and flicked her wand ending the spell. The sound of her sobs filled the room and Juniper gave Kreacher a look. He released Wanda and she slumped to the ground on her knees. Juniper sat beside her and pulled the other girl into her arms. "It's alright." She assured her stroking her hair Wanda buried her face in Juniper's shoulder and her arms came up clinging to her. "It's over now."
"Weren't they just fighting?" Clint asked shaking his head slightly.
"Well, yes but Juniper proved her point didn't she." Hermione answered.
Peter and Ron looked at each other and shook their heads as well. "Girls." Ron said attempting to use the wise big brother tone of his eldest brother. Maybe he succeeded because Peter nodded solemnly.
"Are you ready to talk now without threatening us?" Juniper asked Wanda her voice soft now. Wanda's sobs quieted and she nodded against Juniper's shoulder. "Good girl." Juniper replied and helped her to her feet leading her over to sit on the couch. "Kreacher let him go and bring everyone tea please."
Kreacher obeyed letting Pietro nearly fall to the ground before popping out.
"What is this place? And what is that...thing?" Pietro asked moving to sit at his sister's side protectively.
"This is my home and Kreacher lives here. You are a guest be nice." Juniper told him firmly.
"We were kidnapped here. We aren't guests." Pietro pointed out.
"Well, I could just shove you back in the dungeon. Or maybe we should have just killed you back in Surrey, or left you for HYDRA to punish for your failure." Juniper suggested glaring at him.
"Pietro." Wanda said softly sitting up and reaching out to put a hand on her brother's chest. "We were wrong. If HYDRA is working with that...man...who was coming after her we were wrong."
"Does that mean you are over this stupid vendetta against my dad?" Juniper asked.
Wanda glanced over at Tony and it turned back into a glare. "He still created the missile that killed our parents."
"A man named Garrick Ollivander created the wands that killed my parents and the one that killed Sirius. He also sold those wands to Tom Riddle and Bellatrix Lestrange. Should I blame him for my family's murders? For this scar?" Juniper asked.
"That's different." Wanda protested.
"Is it? How? Neither Ollivander nor my dad had any clue what their creations were going out into the world to do. They had to trust that it would be good but sometimes despite your best intentions..." Juniper gave a soft sigh. "Things happen. People aren't worthy of the trust you put in them. Innocent people, good people get hurt. All you can do then is try to change things, try to do better. My dad is doing that. Stark Industries no longer makes weapons. They are developing clean energy and creating technology that makes the world better." She ran a hand through her hair and met Wanda's eyes. "He is trying to redeem himself and you will not mess that up for him." Her eyes hardened again. "Come after my father again and I will end you. You and your brother. I've had enough taken from me I will not lose another father."
"We will never like him but we won't attack him again." Wanda conceded.
"We won't?" Pietro asked studying his sister's expression sounding hopeful. Juniper realized the whole vendetta thing was 90% Wanda. Being friends with two sets of twins she was familiar with the concept of the dominant twin (Fred for the Weasleys, Parvati for the Patils.) and she immediately saw that same dynamic here with Wanda being dominant.
"We won't." Wanda repeated. "You don't deserve to be hurt like that again." She told Juniper softly. "And HYDRA lied to us. It was supposed to be about making the world a better safer place not about ruling everyone. Killing everyone who doesn't fall in with their values."
"Well, they won't be a problem much longer." Juniper said a wicked grin appearing on her face.
"Hydra never dies. You cut off one head seven more grow to take its place." Steve said sounding weary.
Juniper gave him a smile. "Silly boy you don't use a blade against a Hydra. You use fire."
