Chapter 1: Girl of Red

...

...

Guess I'm being summoned...

...

But this feels weird... odd... not right...

...

I can feel myself gaining form, but... this is different. She must've summoned me- Wait. How do I know that. I shouldn't remember this...

...

No... This is all wrong-

CRASH

As the white haired man woke up, he found himself sitting on a throne of broken furniture, in a fancy room made of quality wood and filled with fine artsy furniture.

What- What was I thinking... This feels odd.

As he gathered his thoughts, he heard someone quickly running up stairs somewhere. It was most likely coming from the door to the left of the man.

Suddenly a girl burst through the door. Her hair was black and she wore a red shirt and a black skirt.

Rin...? Whose- The man smiled. "Seems you have summoned me. But are you my Master?"

The girl looked confused. She fixed her poshture and looked at him with a serious face. He felt something familiar. "I believe I am, judging from the swords you're holding" she said with a proud face and voice. "Ofcourse I would summon a Saber, it's only natural."

He looked at his hands. Swords. They felt so natural, he barely felt them. But now he felt something trully off about his current state. He felt like he was looking through a fog, like he was trying to move with sore muscles. Like he had been sleeping for a long time, but that wouldn't make sense.

"Yeah... Guess I am..." he said with a somber tone. "But are you... my Master..." he continued as he stood up.

"Well of course, look at my hand" she answered as she lifted her hand to show three red lines on it.

He chuckled. "But it seems you aren't quite ready yet. So until then; I'm in charge."

It was harsh, but he felt it- He grabbed the girl to duck for cover as an arrow shot through the window of the house, sending glass flying, but only after the arrow landed.

"What was that" Rin shouted in confusion while catching her breath.

"An enemy ser-" Another arrow. This time he barely dodged it as it shattered the weapon in his right hand. He ran down as quickly as he could.

I thought this place was protected... And... I thought I was meant to be Archer... But-

Another arrow, this one from above, shattering the roof of the house. He dodged it, but now he smelled smoke. from bellow his feet an explosion of flame errupted. Saber attempted to shield her from the fire, but part of her sleeve was still caught on fire. Luckily it wasn't too much, as it only burned a limited area.

"They can't do much in the city-" Rin tried to say as another three arrows shot through the windows on the now first floor.

"Okay. Hold on tight" Saber said as he burst out of the front door and gate with multiple blades fired from blue portals. But now a barrage of arrows came from the nearby treeline and from the sky. He evaded them.

Saber was now running towards the city. But the arrows kept coming. As he tried to evade them, the arrows only became more accurate.

"Why aren't they stopping? We're in a neighbourhood..."

"I don't know. But I'm starting to notice a pattern" Saber noted.

"Like what, there are so many archers who used arrows. It's kind of they're thing!"

"Not that, but whenever I try to dodge them, they seem to get closer to hitting me, but when I stop to change directions, it's less accurate" Rin now looked at him in horrified realization.

"Don't tell me you're going to become a sitting duck" she shouted in fear.

No other choise...

Saber jumped around a bit more before running towards a school sports field. He let the girl down and quickly created a new pair of weapons. This time a thick and flat pair of them.

He heard a whistling in the air as he smaked an arrow flying towards Rin. Another. And another.

Where the hell is he...

The shots stopped only after the field was covered in red arrows. He then saw a slowly warping shadow transform into the shape of a cloaked man. Saber could see a glare of light peak from under their hood.

"So... You wanna duel or somethin'' The cloaked Servant asked.

"Not really sure... Just trying to see what you're deal is" Saber responded as he carefully looked around.

Saber.

What Rin.

The field is being surrounded by something. But it feels too thin for me to properly sense anything.

Allright...

"Why are you after us, and how did you know I was summoned."

"Dunno. Master said something about the feylines- laylines... Not sure, but she said that they were gathering weirdly around your area" the man stopped for second. As he paused, Saber saw multiple survival knives under his cloack and saw his beard.

Someone old...

The man twitched. "Guess I got permission. She thinks your Master summoned you wrong."

Master...

I don't know! I summoned you at the right time. His Master's propably just trying to bait me.

"What do you say about a small fight" Saber asked while gripping his swords tighter.

"No can do..."

Suddenly the man sank into the ground. Saber quickly prepared himself. Then as soon as he was just ready, a series of three arrows came from around him.

He struck down two of the arrows, but the third one flew into his leg. It went through better than what normal arrows, even magical ones, should be able to.

Rin quickly tried using a minor healing spell. It did the job until another set of arrows came and shot between her fingers, clearly a warning shot, while the others went towards Sabers face.

One hit- Two- The third barely dodged, cutting Saber's face.

The sound of shifting gravel. Both Servants looked towards a red headed boy carrying a set of bows. He quickly ran into the school as the enemy servant went to follow.

"Saber-" Rin shouted.

"Understood, going!"

Rin tried to follow as Saber ran inside with the enemy and young boy.

This shouldn't be happening right now! And I don't remember this Servant at all!

Saber continued, until he hear a round of shots while turning a corner. And behind the corner he saw the boy pinned on the wall with five red arrows sticking out of him.

"Sorry about this, but the little la- Master wants me to retreat. Don't ask why" Archer said as he faded away.

Saber looked at the boy in a daze. He put away his weapons as he scratched his head as he for the first time this night, felt something remotely right.

Now what...
