chapter two:

Where are we

Opening her eyes, Luna was greeted by the endless blue sky above, adorned with fluffy white clouds. She quickly closed her eyes and then opened them slowly to help herself adjust to the bright, unfamiliar surroundings. As she sat up, she felt the unyielding hardness of the ground beneath her. Panic surged through her, her eyes widening, and her heart racing.

Fearing that she might be in the midst of another episode of sleepwalking, Luna hoped to find herself in the safety of her backyard. Instead, she found herself in an entirely unknown place, the dense forest and towering trees a stark contrast to the comfort of her home.

She looked around frantically, her mind racing to understand the surreal situation. Her breaths came in short, shallow gasps, and her hands trembled as she pushed herself up from the ground. The alien surroundings added to her distress, the dense trees towering around her, their leaves casting eerie patterns on the forest floor. She was acutely aware that this place was nowhere near her home; to reach such a forest would require walking miles from her house. Fear and confusion clouded her thoughts as she searched for any semblance of familiarity.

But amidst her growing sense of dread, Luna's eyes fell upon her brother, Elio, who was lying beside her and stirring in his sleep. His presence brought a glimmer of reassurance, and she clutched onto it like a lifeline. Luna crawled towards him, her voice quivering as she began shaking him. "Elio, Elio! Wake up!"

Elio, still in a half-asleep state, mumbled, "Mama, deja me dormir," and weakly pushed her hand away.

Annoyed and desperate, Luna snapped, "No soy su Mama, pendejo! ¡Levántate!" She smacked her brother across the face to jolt him awake.

"Ow!" Elio recoiled from the slap, his eyes fluttering open to find his sister's face. He looked puzzled and disoriented. "Luna? What are you doing in my room?" His words held the confusion of a hazy awakening.

"Elio, does it look like we're in your room?" Luna asked, her tone laced with anxiety as she gestured towards their unfamiliar surroundings. Her brother, the blonde-haired man, looked around and began to take in their surroundings.

"Ah, hell nah. Mujer, did you kidnap me during your sleepwalking?" he wondered aloud.

Luna's eyes widened in exasperation. "No! You probably slept walk too this time!"

He scratched his head, a wry grin forming on his face. "I get that we are twins, but this is some messed up Bluetooth syncing."

Luna couldn't help but chuckle despite the situation. "Not the time!"

"Sorry," Elio said with a sheepish smile, realizing that their predicament was far from a laughing matter. The man glanced around their strange surroundings, trying to make sense of their situation. However, the ambiance of the forest suddenly shifted as he heard giggling behind him. He turned around swiftly and, to his mortification, realized that he was wearing nothing but his Spider-Man boxers. A rush of embarrassment flooded his cheeks as he stammered, "Luna, why didn't you tell me I was practically naked?"

Luna couldn't contain her laughter at the sight of her brother's Spider-Man boxers, her previous worries momentarily forgotten. "Well, it's not like we packed for this!" She continued to chuckle, playfully teasing him, "Peter Parker is on your balls, man!"

"Shut up!" Elio groaned, waving a hand at his sister in a desperate plea for silence. His face turned even more crimson as he attempted to regain some semblance of dignity in their bewildering situation.

After sharing a brief moment of laughter and trying to lighten the mood, the reality of their predicament began to set in. They found themselves in the heart of an unfamiliar forest with no supplies — no food, no water, and, most notably, no phones. The absence of their phones meant they couldn't communicate with the outside world or call for help in this bewildering place.

Adding to their discomfort, Elio was stuck wearing only his Spider-Man boxers and a white shirt, while Luna was dressed in her black, form-fitting pajamas. The seriousness of their situation cast a shadow over their initial relief, making the true magnitude of their predicament all the more apparent.

As they descended, the nature surrounding them revealed its stunning beauty. The lush forest, with its towering trees and vibrant foliage, painted a mesmerizing picture. Their plummeting journey allowed them a brief, awe-inspiring view of this enchanting world. It was a sight to behold, a breathtaking spectacle that captivated their senses. If they were honest with themselves, they couldn't deny the sheer magnificence of the scenery that unfolded before their eyes.

Luna couldn't help but comment on the stark contrast. "The air and the temperature, it's nothing like El Salvador," she remarked, her voice filled with a sense of wonder. El Salvador was known for its sweltering heat, but wherever they now found themselves, the climate was noticeably different. It was warm, but not oppressively hot, and the surrounding environment held an unfamiliar and captivating quality that both intrigued and unsettled them.

Suddenly twins froze in their tracks as they heard a menacing growls emanating from behind them. Their eyes locked in silent understanding, and they swiftly dashed towards the shelter of a nearby tree. Elio instinctively positioned himself in front of his sister, guarding her as they crouched behind the tree trunk.

With bated breath, they peered in the direction from which the ominous sound had emerged. The forest seemed to grow darker, and the air became charged with an eerie tension.

"Twins, find the sun half!" a dark, malevolent voice echoed through the trees, sending shivers down their spines. "Find the moon half!"

After those ominous words were spoken, the forest seemed to grow darker still as a group of grotesque, mutilated creatures emerged before the twins. The siblings clung to each other, their hearts pounding as they attempted to stay perfectly silent, not wanting to alert the menacing presence that they were present.

"We must leave," Elio whispered urgently into his sister's ear, his voice filled with a mixture of fear and determination. The two knew that they needed to escape this perilous situation as swiftly and silently as possible.

The female with black hair nodded in agreement and began to walk slowly away from the ominous scene, the two backing away with utmost care. But as they crept away, Luna's foot unintentionally stepped on a branch, creating a loud snapping sound that shattered the eerie silence of the forest. The siblings froze, their hearts sinking as they awaited the response of the terrifying creatures.

The hideous monsters turned their heads in eerie synchrony, their grotesque eyes locking onto the direction of the forest, with one of them making direct eye contact with the blonde-haired male.

"Run," Luna whispered urgently to her brother as they clutched each other's hands, their hearts racing. Without a second thought, they bolted, their feet pounding against the forest floor as they fled for their lives, desperate to put as much distance as possible between them and the menacing creatures.

A loud roar came from one of the mutilated creatures as they begun chasing after the twins, " Kill the elves! KILL THEM!"

The twins paid no mind to the incomprehensible words of the creatures, for the details of the situation were irrelevant in their desperate flight. What mattered was that they were outnumbered and undoubtedly being hunted, and in such dire circumstances, survival was their sole focus.

"Where are we going to go?!" Luna shouted in desperation at her brother, her panic mirroring his own.

"I don't know!" Elio shouted back, releasing his sister's hand when an arrow whizzed dangerously close to his head. "Mierda! Just run, Luna! But in zig-zags!"

"A la gran puta!" Luna cursed in pain as an arrow nicked her arm, narrowly missing a more serious injury. The siblings continued to run, their adrenaline-fueled escape only intensifying as danger loomed around them.

Out of nowhere, one of the monsters materialized right next to Elio, shoving him forcefully to the ground. Luna came to a sudden stop, her heart pounding as she watched in horror. The creature drew its sword, and Luna cried out, "Elio!"

Elio managed to shift himself just in time to avoid a lethal strike, but the blade still found its mark, slashing his side and causing him to cry out in pain.

"Pretty little elf," the massive monster taunted, its malicious voice sending a chill down Luna's spine. She stood there, trembling with fear, feeling helpless as she faced the towering creature. Luna didn't carry any weapons, nor did she possess any knowledge of combat. Her wide eyes darted around, searching for any means of escape or help, but the forest offered no immediate salvation. She felt an overwhelming sense of vulnerability as she struggled to figure out her next move.

As Luna stood before the towering, menacing monster, her eyes darted around, desperately seeking an escape route or anything that could help them. Her heart raced, and her thoughts raced even faster. In the corner of her eye, she spotted a sturdy branch lying on the forest floor. With no time to think, she snatched it up and, with trembling hands, held it defensively.

"Stay back!" Luna shouted with newfound determination, her voice wavering but defiant.

The creature responded with an evil, mocking laugh in its strange language. Luna knew that the branch in her hand wouldn't be enough to defeat the beast, but it served as a useful distraction. Elio had spotted a large rock slab nearby and, driven by a protective instinct, he seized it. With all his might, he slammed it against the ugly creature's head, sending it sprawling to the ground.

"We have to go," she urgently urged him as she noticed more of the unknown creatures emerging from the shadows. Luna wrapped an arm around her injured brother, helping him up, and they made a desperate escape from the menacing forest. Their pace was slower than in the beginning, given Elio's injury, but they pushed forward.

However, their desperate flight came to an abrupt halt. They now stood on the edge of a treacherous cliff, with tumultuous waters raging far below. Panic welled up in Luna's eyes as they gazed at the perilous drop. It was a moment of dire choice: to face the unknown horrors behind or to brave the churning waters below.

"We're gonna have to jump," Luna said softly to her brother, who looked at her with wide, fearful eyes.

Elio shook his head. "No."

"Elio, those things are right behind us, and we don't have anywhere else to go but down," she replied, her voice filled with urgency. The two siblings stood on the precipice, the churning waters below representing both danger and a potential escape from the relentless pursuit of the unknown creatures.

"No, Luna. We could die from the fall."

"And we can die by them ugly ass hands!"

Another round of growls behind them made them panic again.

"We doing this now or never," Luna said, looking at her brother, who still had his arm around her for support. Once she saw the creatures even closer, heading toward their direction, she made a split-second decision. "Sorry, bro."

"LUNAAAAAAAAAA"

With Luna's determined choice, the twins plummeted into the unknown, where they faced the uncertainty of survival or peril in the raging waters below.

note; i tried really hard with this chapter, especially since I'm bad with writing intense scenes like this, so I had to rethink a lot.

Please leave comments, I really want feedback.
