AN: I've always wanted to do a "twenty four hours earlier" kinda chapter like this lol! :D Small dream, but it was fun to do it! I love stories that do these like catchup scene things and then get back to the point where it left off. But now I actually have to write the rest of the story after we caught up lol! So that'll be next chapter. xD Plus I liked writing the new character's perspective!
End of AN!
Roughly Twenty Four Hours Earlier...
LadyDevimon slashed her large hand of red-tipped claws for Angewomon.
Angewomon glided backwards in a swish of her six angelic white wings, twirling a hand and sending out a wave of pink energy.
LadyDevimon did a twisting backflip to avoid it, letting it surge across the ground beneath her and slam into the mountain face - tearing a brand new, hundred foot deep tunnel into the mountain. She raised her normal hand, shrouded in black glove and sleeve, and sent out a blast of dark crimson bats and a follow-up stream of purple energy.
The red bats surrounded Angewomon, leeching energy from her immediately. The energy blast struck her a second later, while she was preoccupied, sending her flying back into a large boulder. It shattered, kicking up a cloud of dust.
LadyDevimon remained standing where she was - but she placed her gloved hand on her hip, causing the chains wrapped around her arm and body to rustle and jingle. "Sister...How long will you continue to be so blind - blindly serving that woman?" she spoke softly to herself, her long white hair flowing in the winds.
A pink light burst from within the dust cloud, clearing it away in a wash of power. Angewomon flew forward, twirling a silver staff with a long pointed end that glowed with pink lightning.
LadyDevimon raised her clawed hand out and met the weapon's end - catching it. Her hand burned, and she gasped at the pain coursing through her. But she held onto it, closing her fingers tighter. She gazed at the crest-bearing helmet of her sister's. The visor that concealed her eyes completely - the upper half of her face. But her visible mouth was twisted with anger and frustration.
"Sister-" LadyDevimon said through gritted teeth.
"Enough! Let's end this - once and for all!" Angewomon declared, tearing her weapon free and floating backwards - and up high into the air.
LadyDevimon gazed up at her sister, watching her twirl her weapon as a great swathe of energy was drawn through the air. She relaxed her jaw and let a sigh free. Maybe her sister was right: all these years and nothing to show for it. Maybe it was time she just...ended things. She tilted her head back and raised her arms, letting her long, dark wings that formed her cape rise up and spread out. Tattered black wings, yes, but they'd do their job. She bent her knees and with a surge of power, she flew up into the sky: straight for Angewomon. She stretched out her hand and conjured a long, black scythe, and its blade lit up with a purple glow of energy.
They danced in the air, darting back and forth, clashing in great flashes of light and power, and swirling around each other for a better angle of attack.
LadyDevimon flew for her sister again, slashing her claws as she blew past her - but Angewomon's pink ribbon flew out and snaked around her arm, whipping her back the other way violently. The other end of the ribbon wound itself around her legs, up her body, trapping her other arm at her side. Angewomon beat her wings as she hovered before LadyDevimon, gazing at her with that faceless helmet visor...
Angewomon raised her arms slowly, and crossed them before herself horizontally - and then slashed one arm down vertically. A pink cross of burning energy formed in front of her, sizzling the air. "In the name of the Order of the Royal Knights, I purge this world of your evils! Heaven's Charm!"
LadyDevimon struggled against her binds, but the energy attack was let loose against her - point blank - and there was nothing she could do about it. Angewomon released her from her binds, simply floating there, watching as the cross of energy slammed into LadyDevimon and carried her back across the skies. Back, and down...down...until she slammed into the side of a mountain. Boulders fell around her, an avalanche that swept her up and deposited her at the very bottom. LadyDevimon gasped, her body moving feebly as particles of light began to drift off of her form.
Angewomon floated down to stand before her, her high heels touching down daintily. She raised her arms with grace and poise, and conjured a white-feathered bow - with a golden string attached to it. She drew it back, and a burning white arrow formed in her grasp.
LadyDevimon raised her head as best she could, looking at her sister. "My evils...? Your justice is blind, sister. That's the true evil here. Evil that masks itself behind justice, behind order and harmony. And the fools that carry it unflinchingly. You're going to destroy me...and you won't even feel anything, will you? All part of your holy mission..."
Angewomon hesitated. Or at least stayed her hand a moment. "You know your crimes, sister," she responded sharply. "You've constantly undermined our Order - organized those rebellious creatures against her rule! You must have known this was what it would come to!"
LadyDevimon smirked, pushing herself up on shaking arms. She waved a hand that trembled. "Never," she rasped. "Do you know the reason I've kept on fighting all this time? It wasn't just for them. It was for you. I hoped that one day...I could finally make you see sense. That we could be together again. When I was BlackGatomon, and you were just my Gatomon. The two of us, always looking out for each other, always having fun..."
Angewomon lifted her shoulders and tightened her grasp on her energy arrow. "Our paths split a long time ago - and that wasn't my fault," she said tersely.
LadyDevimon sat back on her hands, letting loose a burst of laughter. Well...I tried, I suppose...
Small comfort when she was about to meet erasure, but what could you do?
She closed her eyes, and simply waited for the end - at her sister's hand.
The arrow would pierce her chest, destroying her shell of a form - and then her Digicore would be stolen, absorbed by Angewomon to give her new heights of power. But at least, in some sense...she'd finally be with her sister again, wouldn't she, then?
LadyDevimon saw a golden light flash through her closed eyelids - and then an unknown voice rose up in the silent forest.
"What...the fuck...is this?!"
LadyDevimon opened her eyes, and blinked at the...the human sitting on the ground, between her and Angewomon. The human groaned and worked her arms as she jumped to her feet, staring all around herself with narrowed eyes. She looked to LadyDevimon, shocked. Then she spun around and stared at Angewomon just the same. The human was tall, but young. She had long, rich yellow hair in voluminous curls, and pale white skin. "Where am I, and what's going on here? This can't be a dream..." the human continued on, to herself more than to either of the two sisters.
LadyDevimon opened her mouth to answer, when a green light grew in the air before the human. It resolved itself into...a small but instantly recognizable device: a Digivice! A powerful tool in this world that only human Tamers held. It facilitated the bonds between them and...their partners. Partner Digimon. LadyDevimon stared past the human, at her sister; Angewomon had lowered her holy bow now, letting the energy arrow disappear. Which of them, she wondered, was going to be the human's partner? Would it be herself, the so-named rebel with a cause, as her sister had called her...or would it in fact be Angewomon - the Digimon who already served another human...?
And what sort of human was this? Was she like the other one, or was she like the Tamers of old - fellow rebels with a cause? Their arrival in this world, so long ago, had shaken things up something fierce. LadyDevimon had always appreciated that - admired it, too. Strongly. That was why she had gone and...
LadyDevimon found herself smirking once more. Somehow she found the strength to climb to her feet again - but it was her literal last leg with it. She almost fell right back over again. She could barely raise her head, let alone her arms. She was all-but dead on her feet already now. "Hey - human girl," she called out, grimacing at the pain. "Congratulations: you're now a Tamer. I assume one of us here is going to be your Partner Digimon. But I don't know which one of us it will end up being. That might be for you to decide. I just hope you pick the right one."
"Huh?" The girl whipped her head up to gaze at LadyDevimon. She'd been inspecting her Digivice intently for the past minute or so. But now...she was focusing on LadyDevimon. "Tamer? Digimon? Partners...? What the fuck are you talking about? And what is this place? What is- all of this?!"
LadyDevimon sighed. Her fate really was to be left in the hands of this human child, then... That wasn't exactly the most comforting thought in the world.
Angewomon strode forward, suddenly, swiftly - right on past the human girl. "Step aside, Tamer - I have unfinished business with this criminal." As she walked, she raised her white-feathered bow...but it lengthened and thinned, becoming a staff again. A staff that she held poised before LadyDevimon - ready to deal the killing blow.
"Criminal?" The human turned back now, gazing after Angewomon. And then, past her, to meet eyes with LadyDevimon. "Wait a sec, what are you doing with that...?"
"Destroying this threat, once and for all," Angewomon said simply, not even looking back at the human.
"No...NO WAY!" the human shouted suddenly, racing forward. She ran past Angewomon - and put herself between her and LadyDevimon. "She's barely standing, you can't just execute her like that!"
LadyDevimon's lips parted as she stared at the human's back, emotions rising in her chest.
"Please move, Tamer," Angewomon said. "You don't realize who you're protecting."
LadyDevimon let out a small laugh, raising her normal, gloved hand to wave it. "I'll tell you exactly who you're protecting, girl: someone who's been fighting for decades against a tyrannical woman whose rule has only made life worse for every last Digimon in this world - and the Holy Order that carries out her orders without a second thought. Angewomon here, my sister, she's one of those thoughtless fools. Or should I say...tools? That sounds more accurate."
Angewomon's lips thinned, her mouth twisting. The only visible part of her face. "Is that supposed to be an insult? I'm the one who has stayed true to her duties for all this time. I didn't abandon them, like you! I didn't betray the vow I took, I didn't betray the people I-"
"Here we go again..." LadyDevimon sighed, shaking her head. "You see, human? She's blind. It's slavish devotion. It's sickening, really. But maybe...if you are meant for her...maybe you can be the one to get through to her, in a way I never could. I could die here and now, at peace, if I knew that she'd be okay again. I could forgive her for this..."
"Okay, both of you, shut the fuck up for a second!" the human girl erupted, whirling this way and that, her hair flying about. "I just got here - I don't even know where here is - and I honestly have no clue whose word to trust. But, bottom line: I'm not letting anyone die here! So you," she went on, turning on Angewomon and stalking forward, crossing her arms. "need to put that thing down and back the hell off! And as for beauty in black behind me...don't do anything shady! No pun intended. If you make me regret this..."
Angewomon gasped, staring down at the human girl. "You really don't realize what you're doing."
"From the sounds of it, it looks like I'm stopping you from murdering your own sister," the human said firmly. "Put the spear down and chill out. Why don't we talk about all of this? I need to get a better idea of what I'm dealing with. And how the hell to even get back home from wherever this is. So until then, I'm calling a ceasefire to this extreme sibling catfight you have going on here!"
LadyDevimon almost laughed at the human's obliviously spot-on turn of phrase. Catfight indeed!
Angewomon gazed over the human's head, meeting LadyDevimon's gaze. Then, she let her arms fall, and her weapon vanished into thin air. "A Tamer's word always deserves consideration."
"Really? Then consider this one for me: how do I get out of here?" the human demanded. She uncrossed her arms, waving the Digivice about. "Is it something to do with this thing?"
"Most likely, yes," Angewomon replied, nodding her head.
"Cool. I'm going to mess with this for a minute - try not to kill each other," the girl stated, stalking off to the right as she began to poke and tap at the Digivice's face.
LadyDevimon stared at her sister alone now, nothing between them anymore. Even her sister had the utmost respect for the Tamers - but how much could that be counted on to hold her back? When a Holy Digimon was on a crusade...they wouldn't let anything stop them. Not even family, or love...or years worth of memories...
Angewomon stared back at her with her eyeless metal visor. She looked over at the human girl...and then she took a step forward and leapt at LadyDevimon, her staff in hand again, twirling with energy. She slashed it for LadyDevimon's chest in an instant - too fast to dodge or block. Especially in her current state.
LadyDevimon registered shock, betrayal, and hurt. But she simply held her sister's gaze as the weapon came swinging down across her chest.
"Hey-!" the human yelled, whirling back toward them. Far too late to do anything, even if she could have.
The energy staff slid across LadyDevimon's body, passing from one side to the other - to absolutely no effect whatsoever...?
Angewomon's mouth fell open, her weapon pulled back toward herself.
LadyDevimon looked down at herself, seeing a strange glitching effect streaked across her chest. Red cubes fluttered up into the air - and then the effect disappeared, leaving her body unmarred. Unharmed? She hadn't even felt more than a light tickle from the attack! "Well look at that..." she told her sister. She fixed a broad smirk and spread her arms at her. "Apparently, sometime between a minute ago and now, I became invincible."
Angewomon gritted her teeth, and she stabbed her weapon forth - for the dead center of LadyDevimon's chest. The weapon did pierce her, it did plunge several inches deep into her form...but LadyDevimon felt nothing but a warm bubbling sensation inside her body. LadyDevimon raised her arms and grasped the staff, tearing it free and shoving Angewomon backwards. Her sister stumbled back, seeming more shocked than the first time it hadn't worked. "How...?" she breathed. "What have you done?!"
"No idea," LadyDevimon said honestly, laughing again. "But I like it."
"Grrr!" Angewomon took a step back, flourishing her weapon and changing it out for her bow and arrow. She readied a holy arrow in an instant, and fired it without hesitation. It struck LadyDevimon in the chest and actually carried her backwards, into the side of the mountain. But besides the pain of impact, she was still unharmed!
"Alright, NO!" the human girl suddenly shouted, starting forward. "What the fuck did I say?! I said no trying to kill people! And yet, here you are: TRYING TO KILL PEOPLE! And guess what? It doesn't seem to be working out so well, so give it up and figure out a way to send me home!"
Angewomon paused, glancing down at the human. She looked to LadyDevimon. She lowered her bow again, letting it vanish. "Tamer, I-"
"Nope! You know what? I don't want to hear any more out of you for the next - five minutes!" the human cut across fiercely. "Just sit your bitchy ass down and shut up for me! I want to hear from the other one," she went on, looking to LadyDevimon. She stalked forward without a care, then bent down and seized LadyDevimon's arm - pulling her to her feet. "You okay there, babe?"
LadyDevimon blinked at the girl. Then she smiled. "I can honestly say I've never been better. But thanks for the concern...?"
"You can call me Rachel," the human replied. "And what do I call you? I already know the bitch over there is called Ange-whatever."
"I'm LadyDevimon, Tamer Rachel. And I have to say, it's an honor. Especially so if I am your Partner."
"Yeaaaah, I'm not calling you that," Rachel said flippantly. "What about Devi? Dev? Oh, I know: Lady D!"
LadyDevimon chuckled. "Feel free to call me whatever you want. I don't mind."
"Okay, so that's that sorted out then. Now how about getting me home?" Rachel went on.
LadyDevimon held out her normal sized hand, palm up. "Could I see that Digivice? I'll give it right back."
Rachel gazed up at her with narrowed eyes. Then she shrugged and slapped the device into her hand. "Knock yourself out - if you can."
"Haha! I love Tamers..." LadyDevimon remarked, activating the Digivice. "Okay, okay...here we are. Did you try choosing the option that says 'Digital Gate' here?"
Rachel froze. She raised a hand, waving it and laughing. "No, actually, I didn't!"
"Why? It's the most obvious choice, to me," LadyDevimon said, confused.
"Because in my world, there are a lot of things associated with the word 'Gate', and pretty much all of them are not good!" Rachel exclaimed. "I was not going to risk it. And don't ask!" she added swiftly.
LadyDevimon raised her eyebrow. She decided to let it go. The Tamer wanted what the Tamer wanted, after all? Wasn't that right...sister? "All right...well, let's just press it and see what happens." She tapped a finger to the screen with a flourish. A golden pillar of light shimmered to life nearby, rising into the sky. LadyDevimon turned to it, stepping forward. She reached out an arm, then drew it back. "This is probably your way home," she told Rachel.
"Yes! Thank you, Lady D! You are the best! And your sister's still a total bitch," Rachel exclaimed, her eyes glistening. "I'm out of here - it's been fun!"
"Wait - one second!" LadyDevimon said, reaching out to grab the girl's shoulder. "If one of us is your Partner, then we're meant to come with you. We're bonded now."
Rachel spun back around, glaring daggers at LadyDevimon. She bit at her lip, then looked to Angewomon. "Well then, until we figure that one out: I want both of you."
"What?!" Angewomon exclaimed.
"You heard me - come on, babe, bitch!" Rachel ordered. Ordered now. She turned away and strode for the golden light, raising a hand to beckon them. "If I'm either of your...Tamer...then you'll do as I say!" she added quickly, if a little awkwardly.
The twin Digimon watched as the human Tamer stepped into the light - and vanished into thin air. They looked at each other.
"I'm going with her," LadyDevimon said, starting toward the light. "Follow me if you want to - keep trying to destroy me. It won't work. But maybe I can hope that if you tire yourself out enough, you'll come to your senses. Who knows?"
Angewomon stood rooted to the spot, not moving at all - not even when LadyDevimon fully entered the light.
Once LadyDevimon had, she experienced something she never had before. It was a whirlwind of a journey, between, through, beyond her own Digital World - and into a new one. One she had only heard vaguest rumors and tales of. She reappeared in the middle of a dark street, stretching out across grassy fields, bordered by a forest and a city of lights.
"WHY. THE HELL. DID IT PUT ME RIGHT BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY?!" Rachel's voice was yelling out. "AND WHERE THE HELL IS MY CAR!"
LadyDevimon turned, and saw a dark shape running across the street - into the grass. She heard a loud blaring noise, and adjusted her gaze again. She saw a pair of bright lights on a huge machine coming her way!
"HEY - MOVE YOUR ASS - COME ON!" Rachel was yelling again. This human sure did like to yell at people.
But LadyDevimon appreciated it this time; she saw the danger of the situation here. So she turned and took a single, bounding leap that saw her flying across the wide street, to land in the grass near the human Tamer. "Thank you," she told the girl.
Rachel grinned at her in the dark light, visible as the large machine sped past them. "Like I was going to let my partner get turned into roadkill. So, anyways, can I get that Digivice back now-"
A golden light flashed in the middle of the freeway, and LadyDevimon watched as Angewomon materialized in the human world. She had come through - she had actually followed LadyDevimon! Well, that probably wasn't something to get too excited about, was it? Her sister was probably just that dedicated to her holy mission. To the directive given to her by Ordinemon...
But LadyDevimon chose to take it on faith - as a spot of hope. As long as her sister was with her - and was both forbidden from and physically incapable of killing her - there was a chance she could get through to her by conversation. By emotion. By reestablishing the bond they'd once had together.
"HEY, BITCH - GET YOUR PSYCHO ANGEL ASS OVER HERE BEFORE YOU-" Rachel was yelling again - though, this time, at Angewomon. Mercifully.
But, it was too late this time: a speeding, large machine screeched and turned, but not in time to avoid Angewomon! It barreled into her, sending her flying back across the street. Angewomon rolled and bounced before landing in a tangled heap of wings and limbs. Angewomon stirred, then slowly pushed herself up again. She raised her head toward the machine - as a door opened up on the side, and a human stepped out of it. It reminded LadyDevimon of a small train, perhaps.
"Are you-" the human began, looking horrified.
Angewomon flared her wings powerfully, radiating golden light, and a blast of wind and force flew out across the street. It slammed into the human, picking him up and slamming him back down onto his great machine. "You attack me, human?! You attack a Royal Knight - an Angel of the Highest Order?!"
"Shit - Lady D, stop her before she kills someone...for real!" Rachel yelled out at LadyDevimon.
LadyDevimon obeyed without hesitation, flying forward under cover of darkness, spreading her own tattered black wings. She slammed into her sister and seized her in a crushing hug, lifting her up into the air. They shot up a hundred feet, more, more - and then she turned with her and flew her off out across the grassy field. Angewomon struggled, but she was still dazed from that hit from the human machine. Still, she struggled enough that LadyDevimon lost control of their flight path, and they both plummeted down to slam into the dirt together.
"Release me, LadyDevimon!" Angewomon shouted out, fighting to throw her off as LadyDevimon did her best to pin her down.
"Why? So you can go and dispense more of your misguided justice?" LadyDevimon drawled. "That's not going to happen, sister! I thought your type didn't hurt innocents?"
"That human isn't innocent: they struck me with a machine!"
"It was clearly an accident! You appeared out of thin air, and they didn't see you in time! How full of yourself are you?"
Angewomon let out an unholy screech, struggling harder than ever.
"Okay, let's tone it down about a hundred degrees here!" came the echoing voice of the Tamer, Rachel. She'd come running across the grass - finally caught up to them. "Babe, don't let go of her - and bitch, calm your tits before I have to knock you out and throw you into a metal box! I don't know where I'll find one, but you can bet your psychotic ass I'll find one!"
"Try using your Digivice," LadyDevimon told the girl, tossing the device in question at her with a struggling arm. "Open another Gate and we'll throw her back in."
"Great idea!" Rachel said, hurrying to retrieve the Digivice. She picked it up in unsteady hands, feeling it over in the dark with her fingers. "Now how did I turn this thing on the first time? Where's the damn button-"
Suddenly, the Digivice glowed bright in the night: a green light flew out from it, washing over Angewomon and LadyDevimon both. The world warped and disintegrated around them - and then LadyDevimon found herself in a totally different environment.
It was a forest, like the ones back in her world. Except the sky was different, and in the distance beyond mountain peaks she could see...a strange blue wall. It looked like it surrounded the entire area for several miles. And it was daytime again, not night.
LadyDevimon gasped in surprise as she was suddenly thrown off by Angewomon. She fell back into the dirt. Angewomon struggled to her feet - and then she collapsed flat on her face.
"-THE HELL DID i JUST DO?! I AT LEAST WANTED TO KEEP MY BLACK-CHAINED-BONDAGE BABE AT MY SIDE, THANK YOU, YOU USELESS DEVICE!" Rachel's voice suddenly echoed from everywhere at once.
A stream of green cubes swirled in the air before LadyDevimon, and a large, flat TV screen materialized. One that showed Rachel's face in great, furious detail. And there was the dark, grassy field behind her, as well.
"Hey - I can see you! Can you see me? Tell me you can see me!" Rachel demanded, relief and excitement lighting up her eyes.
"I can see you," LadyDevimon replied.
"Hell yes! Where did you guys go?" Rachel asked.
"If I had to guess, I'd say we're inside your Digivice," LadyDevimon replied, casting another look around. "This definitely isn't the actual Digital World. It's only a small digital environment - a pretty barren one, if I might add."
"Sweet! Now I can get the hell out of here and no one will be any the wiser! That guy will just write it off as a trauma-induced hallucination and everything will be perfectly fine!" Rachel crowed.
"...Right," LadyDevimon said blandly. "I'm sure you're exactly right, my Tamer."
"You bet your ass I am! Now how do I turn this thing off..."
LadyDevimon sighed, stepping forward and pressing a button on the TV screen, causing it to go black. She dithered on the spot, then looked to her sister's prone, motionless form.
She had every respect for the Tamers, of course - but why did she have to become bonded to one like...this?
Oh well. If nothing else, it's going to be interesting.
Although, there was still the matter of everyone back in her world being left to the non-existent mercy of the Royal Knights...and their Empress.
But maybe she was here for a reason. Maybe...there was a battle to be fought here, in the human world, as well.
After all...wasn't it the humans who had once come to her world to fight a great battle?
She supposed it was time for the good-hearted Digimon to return the favor.
It was a long time before the television turned itself on again.
By the time it did, Angewomon had regained her strength. She seemed to have finally given up on trying to kill LadyDevimon, thankfully; she made no moves to attack. She just sat on the ground - facing away from LadyDevimon.
Rachel's face filled the screen again, and she looked more irritated now than angry, when compared to earlier. She also looked to have changed locations. She was laying in a bed - the view through the screen gazing down on her from above. "...This sucks! I had to get a tow-truck and everything! My car's a twisted wreck! Though my parents are just happy I'm alive, so there's one less thing to worry about. Not that I could have told them, 'Hey, I got sucked into another fricking dimension by a golden portal of light!' Nope! I had to tell some lame reason about spacing out and then not remembering what even happened afterwards!"
"I'm...sorry for your suffering?" LadyDevimon offered uncertainly.
"Oh - gosh - thanks, Lady D, you are just the best!" Rachel gushed, beaming at her. "Unlike some other chicks we might happen to know now!" she went on pointedly. Very pointedly. "Let me tell you, D, I'm not happy that I have my own personal psycho killer that I need to carry around in my pocket! Imagine if she comes bursting out in the middle of class tomorrow - fuck that would be a real nightmare. Someone accidentally moves their chair over her foot? Murderized! The bell goes off at the end of class? She'll fucking blow it to kingdom come!"
LadyDevimon...couldn't help but feel amused at the girl's rantings. Probably because they were mostly accurate, in this case. "Then don't let her out of here."
"But I want to let you out, at least," Rachel responded, pulling a face. "You're at least a non-murdery kind of girl. And that's my kind of girl, you know!"
LadyDevimon frowned. "I wouldn't be too sure about that, my Tamer. I have battled countless other Digimon before - even had to destroy them. Not always in self-defense. Liberating a world is a messy business."
"Yeah? Well...at least I wasn't around to see it, then. I can't judge you like I can her," Rachel stated.
"I suppose that's fair?" LadyDevimon said.
"Yeah, sure. Anyways - why don't you tell me all about that world of yours. All these Digimon things. Give me the full picture."
LadyDevimon nodded. "All right. I can see you're already comfortable, so I'll get right to it..."
The next time something interesting happened - it was downright exciting.
After hours passed by inside the Digivice, a green light suddenly enveloped both LadyDevimon and Angewomon (who hadn't said a word to each other the whole time, by the way), and then they were both standing out in the human world again.
They were inside a hallway, in some large building, as far as LadyDevimon could tell. But it all looked...strange. The area was bathed in a crimson light, the air was flickering like the dangerous zones of the Digital World sometimes did, and to top it all off...there was the giant black dome with red lines of light that surrounded the entire building, as well as the immediate area.
"YOU - TALK - NOW!" Rachel was immediately yelling, stomping toward Angewomon and actually shoving her in the chest! Angewomon stumbled backwards, amazingly, her mouth agape. "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO ALL THESE PEOPLE I DON'T USUALLY CARE ABOUT BUT SUDDENLY DO CARE ABOUT NOW?!"
"W-what?" Angewomon said, staring around in pure confusion. "Whatever this is, I'm not responsible for it! I'm a Holy Digimon, an Angel, a Royal Knight, and I could never create something so obviously Dark! Why don't you ask her instead!" she went on, turning to thrust a finger at LadyDevimon.
"I don't have any idea about what's happening here, either," LadyDevimon told Rachel firmly, meeting her green gaze. "Neither of us has left the Digivice in some time, Tamer. Perhaps you could explain the situation to us, and we could do something to help?"
"The situ...THE SITUATION - HAVE YOU NOT LOOKED OUTSIDE?!" Rachel screamed, turning and pointing frantically out the windows lining the lefthand side of the hall. "THAT'S OUR SITUATION! Some wild shit is going on here! My Digivice started going haywire, then everyone in my class just froze like statues, this red light like the pits of hell starts shining on us all, and then there's: that! Something doesn't want us getting out of here! Alive or dead, I'm betting!"
"Agreed," LadyDevimon said, after a moment of thought. "That sounds like an accurate assessment to me, my Tamer. What would you like us to do about it?"
Rachel finally stopped, her expression changing. She lowered her arm, looking extremely uncertain. And even afraid. But then her resolve was back, as she squared her shoulders and clenched her fist before her. "I'll fucking tell you what I want you to do about this, Lady D! We're going to find the source of this human rat trap, and then we're going to beat the living hell out of it until it dies! And then everything will go back to normal! Now let's...get...to it! Come on! You too, Bitchmon!" she added to Angewomon, turning and promptly sprinting off down the hallway at full speed.
LadyDevimon didn't hesitate to follow the girl - and after a moment, Angewomon raced after the two of them as well.
Rachel led the way through the building, obviously knowing it best, taking them down a series of stairs, and then through some more hallways. They were part-way through one when a series of loud noises sounded from somewhere outside. LadyDevimon thought she heard some faint voices as well?
"You hear that? I think we found our culprit!" Rachel hissed, turning to the two Digimon with excitement blazing on her face. "Bitchmon, if I'm your Tamer, if I say jump, you jump, alright? If I say support Babemon, you fucking support Babemon, got it?!"
Angewomon and LadyDevimon both blinked at the girl in unison, at that one.
"Yes...my Tamer," Angewomon finally acquiesced, nodding her head in the most rigid way possible. "I'll do as commanded, even if I disagree with those orders. Something LadyDevimon could stand to learn," she added under her breath.
"It's because I didn't learn it that I-" LadyDevimon started.
"No! Zip it!" Rachel interjected, raising a hand and clamping her fingers together in shape of a mouth. "Take shots at each other later, take shots at the enemy now! Let's move it, ladies!"
And then she was turning and running off again...
This human...
LadyDevimon shook her head and ran after her, alongside Angewomon.
Rachel turned a corner at the end of the hall, ran on down a new hallway - and then came to a skidding halt before double glass doors. She stared out through them, her lips parted. Her eyes wide. "That girl...? She's another Tamer...?" she whispered out.
"What girl?" LadyDevimon said, coming up beside her. She looked where Rachel was looking, and saw there was indeed another human outside the building. One standing behind a Lopmon - a Rookie level Digimon. One who seemed to be in combat with an Ultimate Digimon - a Bastemon. "That girl," she answered herself. "Tamer, that girl's Lopmon is only a Rookie - and her opponent is an Ultimate. Already it doesn't look like she's going to last much longer."
"That's why we've got two Ultimates right here!" Rachel said fiercely. "Babemon, help them out!"
LadyDevimon started forward - and saw the exhausted Lopmon being lunged at by the ferocious Bastemon. The Ultimate was going for the final blow. LadyDevimon abandoned the plan of closing the distance, and simply opted to swing her giant clawed arm out in front of her - sending out a wave of dark energy toward the battling Digimon. Her attack melted the glass, tore apart the doorframes, and sped on through the parking lot. It evaporated several human vehicles and slammed into the Bastemon, picking her up and taking her to the edge of the dome. Bastemon hit the wall with a crunch, and then fell straight down to the ground again.
Rachel was already stalking forward, out through the twisted doors, down the pavement. Toward the girl and her Lopmon. Rachel stopped before the pair of them, setting hands on hips. "So, who wants to tell me what the hell is going on here!" she demanded loudly of them.
