Welcome to the first character sheet for the Cures' leader, Cure Ruby!
Toshiko Ozawa is the personal bodyguard of the Crown Princess of Brilliance, the mythical land connected to Earth through a crystal gateway. After The Eclipse took over her kingdom and took everyone's Spark, turning them all into mindless shadow monsters, the Queen sent Toshiko to Earth to find the scattered Rainbow Crystals, restore the Crown to its magical powers, and form a team of legendary warriors to fight Eclipse and restore happiness and dreams to the world.
Appearance
Toshiko is 17 by the time Eclipse attacks and is sent to Earth. She spends 2 years in a low-profile life before word of Eclipse reaching Earth sets her into action once more.
Toshiko has medium-length brown hair with swept bangs, tied in a ponytail. A few strands stick out from her bangs. Her eyes are light green and her skin is fair.
As a student of Nijiro's Girls Academy, Toshiko wears the senior uniform most of the time. At her dorm room she prefers to wear functional but comfortable clothing, preferring easy clothing to give a range of mobility; Toshiko rarely wears dresses or anything bold to stand out from people.
Cure form
Toshiko's Cure Form is 'Cure Ruby'.
In this form her hair grows longer and dark ruby red, tied in a ponytail with a large magenta ribbon. She gains a gold crown in her hair adorned with heart details, and red heart earrings.
On her chest is a big red heart brooch over a magenta bow, with a red jabot underneath. A golden rope crosses over her right shoulder, with small golden epaulets on her shoulders.
Her light pink jacket splits in the middle and side seams, trimmed with gold and reveals two layers of magenta ruffles over a white petticoat. She has a small red bow on the back of her jacket, as well as heart detail on her shoulders.
Her arms are armored up to her forearms, with heart gems on her hands. Her armored boots rise up to her thighs with red heart gems on her knees. She wears magenta shorts under her skirt.
Personality
Toshiko is a girl with a strong sense of justice and beliefs, and doesn't smile often, too focused on her mission. She's kind of a loner, with Chika being her only friend at the start of the story. She is displayed in a calm manner, but isn't introvert. She dislikes violence and prefers to fight alone (if she has to) to keep others out of harm's way.
Toshiko hates when innocents get hurt, and isn't afraid to sacrifice herself if it means keeping someone else safe. Over time and when working with the other girls, she learns how to open herself more and start working in a team.
Despite the brave facade she puts up, deep down she resents herself for her failures (letting Princess Akari get kidnapped, the Kingdom turned to stone and Eclipse sending monsters to Earth), and is determinded to stop Eclipse's invasion by defeating them.
Powers and Attacks
As Cure Ruby, she holds power over light and red gems. Because of her time as bodyguard she has excellent fighting skills and stamina, and keeps that up by training almost daily. Her powers include generating gem shards and blasts of light, swordplay and acrobatics. Her powers are offensive, and she only has a few defensive spells. Ruby is capable of flight while transformed.
Notably, Ruby uses her sword in almost every attack, being able to summon it at will.
Her weapon is the Red Heart Sword, a heirloom from the royal family given to her by the Queen.
Her attacks include:
Red Heart Blast: a basic attack. She draws a heart with her hands/arms then sends the magic forwards.
Ruby Crystal Shatter: a finisher attack. She generates shards before sending them forwards.
Ruby Charge: a charged attack with her sword. She charges magic in her sword, takes a stance with both hands, then takes off towards the enemy and pierces through.
Ruby Slash: a hard slash against an enemy. She charges magic in her sword then leaps up, slashing it towards the enemy in a burst.

Trivia
- Toshiko practises fencing in her free time
- She admires Akemi's skill with the harp, wishing she could play an instrument as well.
- Toshiko has a low tolerance of spicy food.
