More than five years have passed since the young Kalliste Potter was left on the doorstep of Number 4 Privet Drive. Nothing much has changed in the monotonous life of Privet Drive over the past few years. Yet, in this seemingly mundane neighborhood, someone extraordinary has been living for the past few years. In the cupboard under the stairs of Number 4 resides Kalliste Ophelia Potter, unaware of her heritage and how special she truly is.
Kalliste has dark brown hair with red undertone that goes down to her shoulders in soft waves. Her emerald green eyes shine brightly in happiness and darkens in anger. She was short and skinny for her age, most probably because of malnutrition. The years following the tragedy has not been kind to her. From a young age she was subjected to neglect. The Dursleys had made sure to express how much of a burden she was to them. To pay for her keep, she had to help with various chores such as cleaning, mopping, dusting, laundry, gardening and cooking. Kalliste has been kept in dark about her family and heritage. It was only when she started primary school that she was told her name. She does not know anything about her parents other than their names and that they died in car accident. But this will not remain so for long. For today something special is going to happen that will change her life.
Kalliste was awakened early in the morning by her aunt's sharp shrill voice and a knock on the door of her cupboard. After getting ready, she quickly went to the kitchen to help her aunt. Soon Uncle Vernon left for work and Dudley went out to play with his friends. Aunt Petunia also had an appointment with her dentist. Kalliste was told not to return home before it was time to prepare for dinner. Kalliste decided to go to the local library. She loved to read and learn new things. Despite being only seven, she was fluent in reading and writing English. However, her plan came to an abrupt halt when she saw a peculiar sight. An owl was perched on a tree outside the library, staring at her. Successful in gaining her attention, it flew down towards her. Kalliste instinctively held her hand out for the owl to perch. A letter was tied to the owl's legs. The envelope was made up of parchment instead of paper. "For me?" Kalliste asked the owl. Getting a nod, she took the letter with her heart beating fast against her chest. No one has ever written her a letter as she had no friends or relatives. Yet here it was, a letter, addressed so plainly that there could be no mistake:
Heiress Kalliste O Potter
4 Private Drive
Little Whinging
Surrey
On the top right-hand side of the envelope, 'GRINGOTTS' was written in bold letters. Her heart beating fast, she opened the envelope and carefully removed the parchment from it.
Heiress Potter
We at Gringotts wish you a happy seventh birthday. Per the will of your late grandfather, Lord Charlus Potter, you are to receive the Heir ring on your seventh birthday.
You are requested to come to the Gringotts branch in London on 31st July at your earliest convenience to receive the heir ring and the items requested by the late Lord.
This letter is portkey that will take you to Gringotts receiving hall no. 3. The portkey will activate upon saying 'House Potter' aloud while holding the letter.
Sharptooth
Account Manager of The Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter
Kalliste stared at the letter in shock before turning toward the owl who was now perched on her shoulders to ask if it was a joke. She received a flat stare from the owl who then promptly flew away. After thinking for another minute, she looked around herself to see if someone was hiding too see her joke but found no one. Finally, she decided to follow the instruction. "House Potter". Instantly, she felt a jerk somewhere behind her navel. Her feet had left the ground. She could not unclench the hand holding the letter; it was pulling her onward in a whirlwind of wind and color. She felt her feet slam into the ground. It took her some time to regain her bearing. As she looked around, she was shocked by the sight in front of her. She was in a hall with snow white stone walls. A huge fireplace was against one of the walls. In front of her was a bronze door. Standing beside its burnished bronze doors, wearing a uniform of scarlet and gold, was a strange creature. She walked up the white stone steps toward him. He had a swarthy, clever face, a pointed beard, and very long fingers and feet. He bowed as she walked towards him. Overwhelmed with curiosity, Kalliste stopped before him and asked," Excuse me Sir, may I ask what type of being you are and what place this is?" The creature stared for a moment before replying," I am a goblin and this is Gringotts- a bank in Diagon Alley which is the main shopping district for the witches and wizards in Britain." Thanking the goblin for satisfying her curiosity, Kalliste walked inside. Now she was facing a second pair of doors, silver this time, with words engraved upon them:
Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn.
So if you seek beneath our floors A treasure that was never yours, Thief, you have been warned, beware of finding more than treasure there.
A pair of goblins bowed to her through the silver doors and she was in a vast marble hall. About a hundred more goblins were sitting on high stools behind a long counter, scribbling in large ledgers, weighing coins in brass scales, examining precious stones through eyeglasses. There were too many doors to count leading off the hall, and yet more beings were showing people in and out of these. Kalliste made for the counter.
"Good Morning," said Kalliste to a free goblin. "I am Kalliste Potter and I have a meeting with account manager Sharptooth ."
"You have the letter, Miss?"
"Yes," said Kalliste, passing the letter.
The goblin read the letter carefully.
"Very well," he said, handing the letter back to Kalliste"I will have someone take you to account manager Sharptooth's office. Griphook!" Griphook was yet another goblin. He led Kalliste down the corridors and took several turns before stopping at a door. Outside the door Account Manager Sharptooth, The Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter. Griphook knocked the door and said," Heiress Potter is here for a meeting" A voice came from inside" Let her in." Upon receiving Griphook's signal, Kaliste went inside the door with her heart beating fast agaist her chest. Inside the luxurious office yet another goblin sat behind the table. "Good Morning, Heiress Potter. I am Sharptooth, the account manager of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter. Please have a seat." Kalliste took the chair in front of the table. Kalliste unable to contain her questions started asking questions but was stopped by Sharptooth. "Before starting the meeting and clearing your doubts, I want you to drop three drops of your blood on this parchment to verify your identity and inheritance." Sharptooth said while passing a piece of parchment and a dagger. Kalliste looked at him in confusion and did as he said. Her fingure stopped bleeding the moment three drops of blood dripped on the parchment. Soon her name along with other things were seen on the parchment.

Kalliste was shocked to see the parchment. She looked at Sharptooth and asked in confusion " Witch? Wizard? Heiress Potter? What does it mean?" Sharptooth looked at the young Heiress in shock. " Heiress Potter, do you mean to say that you are unaware of your magical heritage". Kalliste nodded in confusion. " Heiress Potter, you are a witch, which means that you have the ability to wield magic. Your parents James Potter and Lily Potter were a wizard and witch respectively. The Potter family is an old pureblood family which has a thousand year old history. You mother was a muggle born witch born to two muggles - people without magic. Currently you are in Gringotts, a goblin run bank. It is in diagon alley- the main shopping district in magical Britain. The muggle i.e., non magical entrance of the alley is through the Leaky Cauldron, Charing Cross road, London." Sharptooth looked at Kalliste to ensure that she was following along so far. "The existence of the magical world is a secret to the muggles. The Statue of Secrecy was established officially in 1692 because of the widespread witch hunting and fear of magic. It is a punishable offence to do magic in front of muggles or do anything which will jeopardize the law of secrecy. The wizarding Britain has its own government, laws, school, hospital. It can be said that the wizarding Britain is a different country with its own government and culture."Kalliste nodded indicating that she had followed him so far. "Many beings and creatures that are believed to be myth by the muggles such as giants, goblins, mermen, sirens, werewolf, dragon, unicorn, phoenix exist to this day in the magical world" Upon hearing this Kalliste's eyes widened in childish awe. "You will learn more about magic and the wizarding world after you start Hogwarts when you are eleven. Hogwarts is the best school for magic in Britain. It is the school for witches and wizards. It is a boarding school in Scotland. Your school fees for seven years has been prepaid by your grandparents." "Now that you have a basic understanding of the magical world, I will go through the purpose behind this meeting, unless you have any question." Kalliste took a moment to got through the information. "How did my parents and grandparents died and how did I ended up being with my Aunt." Sharptooth looked more serious upon hearing the question. "The magical world was going through a decade long war which came to an abrupt end in 1981. You parents actively fought the war and joined the fight agaist Voldemort soon after graduating. Voldemort attacked Potter manor with dozens of death eaters- his followers. Your grandparents ensured that you, your parents and the guests were safe before defending the manor. That day Voldemort was the only one who escaped alive. He too sustained heavy injuries during the fight. Your parents to had fatal injuries. After handling their affairs they spent their last days in the Potter Manor which is currently in lockdown. Your parents and godfather were attacked on 3rd November by six death eaters who were looking for information about Voldemort who vanished after the attack at the Longbottoms. Bellatrix Lestrange, Rabastan Lestrange and Rodolphous Lestrange were killed that day. Rookwood and Barty Crouch jr. were arrested by the aurors. Another unknown death eater managed to escape just before the aurors arrived."
Sharptooth took a break as Kalliste tried to process the information provided to her by Sharptooth. Magic is real. She is a witch. Her parents were not unemployed drunk who died in a car crash but were a witch and wizard who were killed in a war.
"The meeting today was requested by your grandfather who wanted you to receive the heir ring on your seventh birthday along with a trunk he prepared for you. The Heir ring signifies your status as the next Lady of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Potter. The ring helps alert the wearer about most poison and potions. It also protects the wearer against Legilimecy attacks- which means trying to see your memories. The ring can be made invisible and visible at will." Sharptooth passed the box with Heir ring to Kalliste. The ring was made of gold and had an inset ruby. On the band verum in sui et familiae was engraved in a beautiful calligraphy. The ring was slightly big for Kalliste right ring finger but resized itself which made Kalliste admire it with wonder. Sharptooth then passed a miniature trunk and a letter to her. " The letter and trunk was sent by your grandparents a couple of days before their demise." Kalliste was overwhelmed with emotions as she took the letter and trunk. This was something that her grandparents prepared for her. The realisation that she once had a loving family who cared for her stuck her hard. The meeting soon came to an end as she was too young to understand the financial matters. The letter from Gringotts was a return portkey which sent her back to Little Whinging.
Later that night, Kalliste was back in her cupboard playing with her ring as she went through the information she received earlier today. She took the letter from her grandparents which she had yet to read. The letter was written in beautiful calligraphy.

That night in the cupboard under the stairs Kalliste explored the wonders of the trunk and slept in peace for the first time in years knowing that she was not an unwanted burden or a freak but a witch loved and cherished by her family.
