When Sonic arrived in the world of Camelot it was in a dark state of ruin but it wasn't always this way. For something to fall it must first rise and this kingdom is no exception. The story starts with a younger Merlin who lived with his wife and daughter on a small patch of land near Camelot.

Through some unknown circumstances, he was given magical powers that allowed him to perform a variety of tasks which included forcing spirits to rise and see into the future. Once, he even made himself a tall scepter that had a bright blue bulb on the top where white bird feathers stuck to its edges. This allowed him to carry out his magical abilities.

The power also turned his hair and eventual beard into a deep magenta which complemented his ocean eyes and pale skin. The long robes he wore were the same shade as his eyes.

Merlin spent most of his days tending to livestock and growing food while caring for his 11-year-old daughter named Alba.

"Odegard, may I ask you a question?" He asked his wife, hoping that she waisn't too busy with supper.

She was holding a bowl of vegetables when her pale green eyes crinkled at the corners, the light in them diminishing, worried

"Anything my dear." Her shaky response matched the expression in her eyes to Merlin's dismay.

"Have you ever ventured beyond this field?"

Odegard's face darkened. "No, and I don't plan on leaving . I heard there are monsters out there, horrible beings with teeth the size of stones."

Merlin looked out the window for a second before taking a deep breath, centering himself.

"Maybe that's a good thing?" he mumbled.

The small bowl in his wife's arms wobbled and she quickly reached to steady it. "Are….. you feeling alright?"

"Look I've had these powers since I was born yet I've never had the chance to use them and I'm getting close to my late thirties maybe tackling whatever's out there is what I was meant to do!."

Odegard took a deep breath and her eyes seemed lost in thought.

"I'll be worried about you but if this is something you feel the need to do, then I'm with you till the end."

Merlin sighed with relief and he gazed at his wife warmly who had put down the bowl and looked at him the same way.

He walked over to her and moved some of the long reddish-brown hair off her face before giving her a quick but emotional kiss.

"You don't know how happy I am that you understand."

He let her get back to making supper When she headed back to the kitchen, he anxiously glanced outside the wooden door to see his daughter Alba, who was still practicing her spells like he had asked her to.

In Merlin's procrastination, he managed to find a huge wool bag to pack some things he might need on his journey, which included an ax, fire equipment, and snacks that didn't need to be cooked.

"Dear supper's almost ready, this is a good time to tell Alba what you plan on doing," she said gently.

Merlin hesitated but headed and walked outside anyway.

Alba was sitting in the faded green grass watching the blue jays at the time, wearing a light yellow robe. She had long hair that was a pale shade of pink and striking green eyes the colour of the grass in spring..

"Father!" She yelled cheerfully before playfully skipping over to him and giving a gentle bow.

"Hey, angel!" Merlin responded.

Alba adjusted her eyebrows. "What's wrong father?" The concern was quite clear in her tone.

He gasped and wished his daughter couldn't detect the worries and negative feelings in his voice.

His eyes shifted, and the girl could tell that he was carefully pondering, drafting up the right words to say to her.

"In short, I think I can finally make good use of my powers outside of the safe fields we currently live in, I don't know when I'll be back but I want you to understand that I love you π˜ƒπ—²π—Ώπ˜† much."

Alba looked down at her boots with great disappointment. "Do you think Mother will let us join you at some point?"

Merlin gave a subtle chuckle. "Not likely, she already hates the outdoors enough."

Odegard wanted to eat their last possible supper together before he left the next day. After, a tearful goodbye Merlin felt that he could postpone this moment no longer, so he grabbed his scepter and wool bag knowing that cf he came across, could change him.
