Thanksgiving 2037
Cait and Aaron Hotchner were sitting in the now enclosed, year-round pool area of their home on Deer Valley Road. Through their shared investments, starting with Cait's inheritance from the Barkley family, they enjoyed their retirement in comfort, in the home they shared for all these years. They smiled at each other, looking around the pool area. Wilma, their latest yellow Lab, lay near their feet, softly snoring, worn out from the day of dealing with the kids and grandkids.
Matt and Lauren were in a highly contested game of corn hole with Mike and Andi. Lauren and Andi were both still teaching. Mike was now the Unit Chief of the FBI Lab at Quantico. SAC Ashley Seaver of the BAU had recently promoted Matt to senior profiler.
At the large table at the back of the pool area, Sam, Mike and Andi's oldest, along with his younger sister CJ, a nickname for their daughter named after Cait, were in a Screw Your Neighbor card game with their cousins of the same age group. Ethan, Sean and Leslie's youngest son was in on the action along with Matt and Lauren's twins Dave and Dan, and the twins' younger sister Abbey. Aaron and Cait laughed at David Rossi walking away from the table, wagging a finger at the kids. "They still gun for Uncle Dave after all these years," Aaron laughed.
Cait smiled at Aaron. "He'll always have the biggest target on his back with this family. That's how much he means to them."
Aaron leaned over and kissed Cait's temple. "I know Doc," he smiled.
Sean rolled his eyes at Leslie. "Sixty something and they're still like newlyweds."
Aaron looked at his brother and grinned. "I might get laid this weekend."
"Might?" Cait seductively asked.
Sean shook his head as Leslie looked at him. "Play your cards right buddy," she cooed.
"Where's Dave?" Aaron asked. "We need to take bets on that."
"Will you two finally give it up," Cait growled, looking at her husband and brother-in-law. The two couples laughed together as Wyatt and his wife Megan came into the pool area. Cait looked at the couple. "Gabe conked out?" she asked with a smile.
"You know it Aunt Cait," Wyatt grinned. "He likes Tate's old room." With all of their kids now with their own homes in the D.C. area, Cait and Aaron were empty nesters.
Megan shook her head. "I was really worried about making this trip with a three-month-old. But he's been a trooper," she smiled.
Cait waved her hand at Megan with a smile. "At that age, as long as they get fed and get their sleep, they don't notice the difference. They are more resilient than you think."
Megan grinned at her. "You just keep feeding me advice Aunt Cait."
"Always my job sweetheart," Cait winked at her. Wyatt and Megan went to the bar to get a drink.
The pool teemed with the younger grandkids with their parents keeping an eye on them. Jack, upon graduation from Georgetown Law School at the top of his class, was quickly hired by the U.S. District Attorney's Office in D.C. He was a hard-charging DA, rising quickly like his father. Yet, he was a wonderful husband to his wife Mallory, who had her own career as a highly successful financial consultant. They were wonderful parents to their three children. Micah was seven. Their daughter Avery was a kindergartener and Jonah was three.
On the other side of the pool was Tate with his wife Jenn. Tate followed in his mother's footsteps, being an ER doctor at Georgetown. Jenn did the same job. Yet they balanced their highly stressful jobs, being parents to Bradley, five years old, and Max, turning three next week.
Sean looked at Aaron and Cait. "We're really sorry we couldn't make it out to Uncle Nick's funeral last week."
"We understand," Aaron softly smiled. Dave joined the two couples. "Where have you been?"
"I'm eighty Aaron. I have to whiz more often."
"Thank you, Dave for that glimpse into my future," Aaron snarked.
Dave sat down in the chair next to Cait. "Thanks for that reminder Sean," he growled, shaking his head.
Cait smiled at Dave. "You weren't the only one with a hangover after that funeral."
"Really?" Sean asked, grinning.
"Oh hell yes Sean," Cait laughed. "Mom lived into her nineties. The biggest Barkley hardhead other than her, and male, had to out-live her to one hundred and one. Luke and Adam visited him two days before he died. He was still sharp. The stroke hit that night. We all did some drinking in Nick's memory after the funeral."
"How are your brothers and their families Cait?" Leslie asked.
"Just like Aaron and me," she grinned. "Watching grandkids getting older and doing winters in warm places."
"How's all the old team?" Leslie asked.
Aaron smiled. "Emily is in the grandparent club. Declan and Quinn have a boy and girl. Henry, JJ and Will's oldest, and his wife Tess are expecting in March. The rest are retired from the BAU doing the same thing they were last year."
"I can't wait to see them again Saturday night," Dave smiled.
Sean looked at Dave as he got out of his chair with his empty drink glass. Cait and Aaron handed their glasses to Dave. "When do you leave for the villa in the Hill Country?" Sean smiled.
"The San Antonio airport will welcome me January second," Dave grinned. He pointed at Sean and Leslie's drink glasses. They both shook their heads.
Leslie looked at Cait and Aaron. "When do you two leave for your six weeks at the villa?" she smiled.
"The first of February," Cait grinned back. "The one-time a year buy-in with Dave on a private jet pays off. Wilma comes with us."
"What about them?" Sean pointed towards the pool. Jonah and Max were swimming to the end of the pool where they all were sitting.
"Their parents get free day care for how many months a year," Aaron said. "They can suck it up for six weeks."
Sean smiled at Leslie. "God willing, five more years babe."
"From your lips to God's ears," Leslie grinned back.
Cait and Aaron smiled at them, getting out of their chairs and grabbed towels to dry off their two youngest grandkids. Dave smiled at the scene, pouring drinks at the bar in the pool area. Cait and Aaron sat back down. Jonah enjoyed snuggle time with Cait while Aaron sat down with Max curled up in his lap. Aaron looked at Cait. "You OK?" he asked with concern, pulling Max to his chest.
Cait softly shook her head, snuggling Jonah closer to her. "You know me. I still miss them this holiday."
Aaron smiled. "Maggie and Jarrod are always here Doc," he said, nodding around the pool area, rubbing her shoulder. He gave her neck a soft squeeze. "Family never ends Cait. The next generations keep it going for all of us."
"Amen to that," Dave said, softly smiling, handing Cait and Aaron their refill of scotch and Baileys.

A/N: Yes, David Rossi gets the last line. Like always. And yes, that's the end of this storyline.
My deepest thanks to the OK Teach. Once again, after her first read through of my first draft, she had suggestions. She made this a better story, reminding me that Sean and his family were a part of the fabric of the Thanksgiving family. Then doing the proofreading. I think she's ready to retire from bailing me out as well.
Thank you for the alerts and reviews.
I've hit the wall on story ideas. My story idea bucket has one left in it. Then I am done.
See ya one more time in the next six months or so. When I write the big final, final.
