A Transformation To Something Better

The Tickle Realm was calm that morning as Bubble woke up, surprised to find himself in his Lauhinian form. "Huh? Did I transform in my sleep?" He asked himself before trying to switch back to his robot form. To his immense surprise, he couldn't. "Okay, that's not good."

Getting up quickly, he headed to his parents' room, about to knock on the door when his mother opened it, surprised to see him up so early. "Bubble, what are you doing up so early?" She asked, knowing he wasn't normally an early riser.

"Mother, I can't switch back," he said. "I woke up in my Lauhinian form and I can't switch back to robot form."

Queen Bliss blinked before smiling gently. "Let's talk to your father," she said, guiding him into the bedroom where Lauhin was sitting up in bed, still looking sleepy, but when he heard Bubble's worry, he woke up more. "Hmm, you might be about to start a growth spurt in your Lauhinian form, Bubble," he said. "Usually a young Lauhinian goes through a growth spurt at a certain age, but since you are the first robot to become part Lauhinian, your growth spurt might be arriving sooner than expected, which is why you're in your Lauhinian form."

When he heard that, Bubble felt his thoughts and emotions conflict with each other. While he was excited he was going to experience what it was like growing up, he didn't want to because he liked his current height. "But...I like my current height right now," he said.

"We know, honey," Queen Bliss said, gently kissing her son's head. "But think about it, you'll be nearer to your brothers in height and growing up isn't a bad thing."

He took some comfort in her words. "How long until my growth spurt?" He asked.

"I'm afraid I don't know that answer," Lauhin said gently. "You may have to wait depending on how long it takes for you Lauhinian body to mature. Until then, looks like you'll have to stay in your Lauhinian form."

Bubble took a deep breath to calm down, still feeling conflicted, but nodding. "Okay," he said.

He told his brothers, both Lauhinian and robot, the news. His Lauhinian brothers congratulated him, saying the growth spurt would vary with young Lauhinians, but they still loved him regardless. His robot brothers were a bit concerned there would be some issues after the fact, but told Bubble that they still considered him their brother regardless.

Bubble even told Wily, who was currently at the castle and working on a project when Bubble came in. Wily turned and jumped in surprise at seeing the robot's Lauhinian form out. "Hello, Bubble," he said, smiling gently. "Did you just get back from a run in the jungle?"

"No," the robot-turned-Lauhinian said. "I'm apparently about to have a growth spurt soon, which is why I can't transform back right now."

Wily paused his work and looked at Bubble in surprise, but then saw his face. "First off, congratulations," he said gently. "How do you feel about it?"

"I'm not really sure," Bubble said. "I want to grow up, but at the same time, I don't."

Wily nodded in understanding. "You're having mixed emotions about it," he said.

"Yeah," the robot-turned-Lauhinian said. "Is that normal?"

"Yes, it is," the scientist said comfortingly. "It can be a good thing, but at the same time, it can seem scary because it seems like it's happening all too fast."

"Yeah," Bubble said, glad the doctor understood. "Should I feel that way?"

Wily looked thoughtful. "Well, I can't exactly say 'yes' or 'no'," he said.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, saying 'no' implies that I believe you're just being dramatic, which I don't believe you are being. But saying 'yes' makes it sound like I'm just trying to brush aside your feelings, which I'm not," he answered. "It's not a bad thing that you're feeling conflicted about it because it's something new that you never thought you'd experience, and that's okay. It can be a good thing too because it means you're sorting out how you feel about it instead of just selecting to be happy. You want to properly sort out your feelings without feeling like you need to pick how you feel."

He smiled gently. "Understanding the importance of growing up is very conflicting indeed, but it is the way of life. Embrace it as you're experiencing something no robot could ever do again. Cherish it, but don't be afraid to talk to someone if you need to as well. We'll all listen."

Bubble looked at Wily gratefully before hugging him, surprising the scientist. "Thank you, Wily," he said.

The scientist hugged him back. "You're welcome," he said. "I wonder how tall you'll get?"

"Don't know," the robot-turned-Lauhinian said. "But even if I only grow a few inches, I won't complain."

He began to feel a lot better after talking to the scientist and he accepted that he was growing up, which made him want to start a new chapter of his life. Either way, at least he had his family there with him.

A few days passed and Bubble checked to see if he had grown. He tried to transform back to robot form, but couldn't. "Oh, well, not yet, I guess," he said.

"In a rush to grow up, Bubble?" Jocu asked, smiling.

"Kind of," his brother said. "I kind of miss transforming into my robot form. Is that bad?"

"Not at all," the red-skinned being said. "It's been a part of you for a long time. Don't worry, once you hit that growth spurt, you'll be able to transform back."

A month went by and Bubble woke up one morning to discover he could hardly move. Looking around, he saw he had not only outgrown his bed, but had almost outgrown his whole bedroom. Nothing had broken thankfully, but he was still quite terrified to wake up to find himself trapped.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

The terrified scream rang through the castle, making the king and queen run for Bubble's room.. "That was Bubble!" The queen said in worry.

King Lauhin opened the door and took a step back in shock. Queen Bliss looked and was surprised too. "Oh, my," she said in concern, now seeing why her son had cried out in terror.

Optimo came running up to them. "What happened?" He asked.

Lauhin recovered from his shock. "I think Bubble might have gotten his growth spurt," he said.

The Royal Tickle Knight looked and nearly fell down in shock at seeing how Bubble was now cramped in the bedroom. "That is quite a growth spurt," he admitted.

Bubble was still panicking. "Mom. Dad, what do I do?" He asked, feeling scared.

"It's alright, son," King Lauhin said. "Take a deep breath now."

"We're right here, honey," Queen Bliss said.

The robot-turned-Lauhinian took a deep breath, doing so again under her father's prompting. "I'm scared," he whimpered.

"It's alright, Bubble," the King said soothingly.

Optimo felt sympathy for Bubble. "Is there anything we can do to help him?" He asked.

"There is a way, yes," King Lauhin said. "We can remind him of the happy memories he's had of here."

"Good idea," the knight said with a nod.

Queen Bliss smiled. "Remember when I first made cookies and you couldn't decide if the smell was better or the taste was better, Bubble?" She asked.

"I remember, Mother," he said. "Vivo said he'd eat my cookie if I didn't eat it."

Everyone chuckled at that before King Lauhin smiled. "Remember when we went to pick berries and you got stuck in the bushes?" He said.

Bubble giggled at that. "The berries that changed color," he said as he felt calmer. He began to shrink as he recalled more happy memories, like when Rachel, Ben, and Sasha comforted him when he was ill and when a friend of theirs had not only fixed Bubble's legs so that he had better balance in robot form, but could also run better than before.

After a bit, he noticed he stopped shrinking and he tried transforming to his robot form. A moment later, he stood before his parents in robot form. "Looks like you can change back and forth again," Optimo said, smiling.

Bubble, happy to be able to do so, hugged himself. "I missed this form so much," he admitted.

"Did you now?" Lauhin said teasingly as he playfully pounced on his son and began tickling him, making him laugh happily.

After a bit, Bubble joined the family for breakfast and his siblings noticed he was a robot again. "Did you get your growth spurt, Bubble?" Jocu asked.

The robot smiled and transformed into his Lauhinian form, revealing that he had gotten taller by a few feet. "Alright!" Vivo said happily as the brothers piled up on Bubble, making him laugh as they hugged him. He snuggled into their hugs, feeling a lot better.

He also went to Earth to show Rachel, Sasha, and Ben. All three were greatly surprised, but happy for him too. "Looks like our brother is growing up," Rachel said, smiling.

"But he's still our little brother," Sasha said, smiling.

"Hey!" Bubble said playfully, tickling his sister to make her laugh.

Ben smiled. "He may have gotten taller, but he's still a mischievous tickle monster," he said.

"Oh, am I?" The robot-turned-Lauhinian said, pouncing on Ben now and tickling him, making him laugh.

Later on, he showed Wily, who was surprised, but smiled before noticing something. "No horns yet, huh?" He asked curiously.

Bubble shook his head. "I'm still too young to have horns. Jocu says it might take me a few decades to get my horns to fully grow out," he said.

"Decades, huh? I might be gone by then," Wily said gently, teasing a bit. "Unless your father grants me a Lauhinian form like you so I can live longer to see it."

"That depends on the future if he's reluctant to, especially Uncle Ecstacio," Bubble pointed out gently.

"That is true," the scientist said in agreement.

Evening came and Bubble went to the forest to chill before dinner. He was sitting next to a pond and Ecstacio joined him.

"So I've heard you've gotten a growth spurt, Bubble," Ecstacio said gently. Bubble smiled and showed his uncle his bigger Lauhinian form, making his uncle smile. "I'm proud of you, kiddo. I can't wait until your horns start to grow out," he said proudly.

Bubble was shocked to hear that and blushed. "What?" His uncle gently asked, curious to the robot-turned-Lauhinian's reaction.

"Even though you didn't want me here in the first place?" Bubble asked softly. The Great Prince hung his head and sighed.

"I'm sorry I said that, kiddo. I was just worried and I… had distrusted you," Ecstacio apologized. "I've been alive for many centuries and I seen the same things in humanity. It's rare to see someone not taking advantage from another for their own selfish reasons. I was afraid of you taking advantage of my brother and hurting my family. But you proved me wrong. You shown me that you take pride in owning up your mistakes and learn from them, becoming responsible for them and learning how to grow. You defended yourself from three Nitians and Damus. You even kept the king at bay just by talking without creating conflict or heating the conversation, and he didn't get the opportunity to attack you because you're resilient. You have shown me that you're worthy of being in this family because of what you've done and I'm proud of you to call you my nephew."

Bubble starts tearing up from how touching it was and hugged his uncle. "I forgive you," he sobbed happily and gently started squeezing his uncle.

Ecstacio hugged him back. "Thank you, child, for forgiveness. I didn't want you to think I secretly hate you," he said and Bubble shook his head after they parted from the hug.

"I still love you, Uncle, and I still mean it," Bubble says sweetly. "You're my uncle, my hero and my inspiration. So thank you for giving me a chance."

Ecstacio softly chuckled and smiled. "You're welcome, Bubble," he said softly. "I can't wait to see what you do next."

"Honestly, I can't wait either," the robot with a smile. Both nephew and uncle gently bumped foreheads, the Royal Lauhinian greeting of saying hello. But in this case, Bubble took it as a sign of acceptance and respect.

Later, Bubble was in robot form, blindfolded as his Lauhinian siblings gently moved him through the castle. "Okay, what's this about," Bubble gently asked, sounding curious.

"Father has something for you," Jest said, smiling as they entered the throne room and Jocu removed Bubble's blindfold.

The robot looked up to see his father handing him a magic trident he had made for Bubble. "I had this made for you, waiting for the day I felt ready to let him embark on you journey as a prince to help people of Earth," he said.

In awe, the robot-turned-Lauhinian happily accepted the trident and stood tall before his father. "I promise to use it to create laughter and memories, Father," he promised.

"We know you will, son," Queen Bliss said, proud of him.

Jocu and his brothers smiled, also proud of their youngest brother.
