"Absolutely, I'll take care of it immediately," James responds with conviction before making his exit. However, his attempt to explain himself and make amends is abruptly cut off.
"Don't you dare utter a word to me. Keep your distance, understand? I refuse to be a casualty of your rage. How can I possibly explain this injury to my parents? Integrity has always guided my actions, and I won't tarnish it with my first lie. I held you in such high regard, so much respect. The music of BTR used to transport me to a place of pure joy, but now all I can think about is your true colors, how unkind and far from cool you've become." A defeated sigh escapes George's lips. "I need to step away, find solace elsewhere to escape this overwhelming stress. My nerves are frayed beyond repair." With determination, he walks out, accompanied by Max, Kenny, and Emma.
Kendall and Carlos return to an atmosphere thick with tension. Kendall, sensing the palpable unease, questions, "What on earth happened while we were away?"
Carlos, his tone tinged with irony, responds, "You better believe George is one unhappy fellow."
James, with a calm and composed demeanor, takes it upon himself to provide a thorough explanation of the situation. As he recounts the incident, he reveals that he had uttered the names of both Logan and "nerd" in the same sentence. Kendall, sensing the brewing storm, swiftly intervenes by restraining Carlos until he regains his composure, a process that takes approximately ten minutes.
In a fit of anger, Carlos vehemently exclaims, "How could you?! El Diablo, el diablo!" His voice resonates with frustration and disappointment.
Attempting to diffuse the tension, James responds, "Alright, I understand that you're upset, but calling me the devil isn't going to help. Take a moment to relax, my friend."
Carlos, unable to contain his emotions, begins to pace back and forth, expressing his discontent in a rapid stream of Spanish words.
Sensing the need for a distraction, Logan suggests, "Carlos, calm down. Why don't you go watch your favorite show, Sponge-Bob?"
Realizing the wisdom in Logan's suggestion, Carlos takes a deep breath and replies, "Okay." He settles himself on the couch and proceeds to turn on the television, tuning it to the Nickelodeon channel.
"Let's all just relax and decompress." This field trip/winter vacation is supposed to be enjoyable." Kendall says as he sits down to watch hockey videos on his laptop.
Katie rushes in furious after 30 minutes, points at James, throws up her fist, and walks back out.
"Carlos, did you tell her what I did?" "I notice that you're holding your phone." James blames him without presenting any evidence of the truth.
"Whoa, before you falsely accuse me, let me defend myself." I have my phone because I'm texting my MAMI! She was only checking to see if I was having a good time. I didn't text Katie at all. If you're wondering who informed her what you did, presume it was the kid you attacked." Carlos is outraged by the immediate accusation.
"I don't believe you! "Prove it!" James states.
"I'm telling you the truth. I don't need to prove anything to you. I was actually texting my mother. Logan, please help me." Carlos expresses himself.
"James, he's not going to lie to you. Now stop harassing him, please. Okay? It's over. Let it go. Help yourself out by just going to sleep. You've obviously overstressed yourself and you're on edge, and if you continue doing this, you'll get in trouble with Miss Collins. Do you want that?" Logan says.
"No, I don't. I'm sorry I didn't believe you, Carlos," James says.
Sighs and shakes his head. "My head hurts. I'm going to bed," Carlos says sadly, looking at him and walking to the bedroom.
"Oh great, you stressed Carlos out. I didn't think that was possible because he's so happy all the time, but even he has his emotional limits," Kendall says, sighing and giving him an irritated look before going into the bedroom.
James and Logan follow him.
Friday morning.
As the first rays of sunlight peek through the windows, James finds himself caught in the clutches of a haunting nightmare. Stirred from his slumber, he slowly opens his eyes, only to be met with a peculiar sight on the coffee table. Blinking away the remnants of sleep, his senses sharpen and he realizes it's a Donnie TMNT action figure. Fascination takes hold of him as he manipulates the toy's movable arms and legs, completely engrossed in its miniaturized world. Unbeknownst to him, Carlos silently enters the room.
"Good morrow, dear friend. Seems like you've stumbled upon my little surprise," Carlos greets him warmly. "Your restless slumber last night concerned me deeply. I witnessed your troubled entrance into this room, sensing the weight on your weary soul. Thus, I decided to replace your melancholy with sheer delight. I sat beside you, even as you succumbed to sleep, witnessing your trembling vulnerability as if you were warding off unseen adversaries, patiently awaiting the moment tranquility embraced you again," he explains softly.
With a curiosity tinged with disbelief, James inquires, "How long have you been here with me, Carlos?"
Carlos, with an affectionate smile, replies, "Approximately three hours, my dear friend. Three hours spent in silent companionship, dedicated solely to comforting your restless spirit."
"Why did you trade three precious hours of sleep to keep vigil over me?" James asks, with a perplexed expression twinkling in his eyes.
"Because you're more than a band mate, my dear hermano. Allowing you to suffer in solitude would have shattered my heart," Carlos responds, his voice filled with unwavering determination and unparalleled affection.
"Even after our argument last night?" You're still extremely kind to me? You have the sweetest, purest heart of everyone I know. You have a unique gift. "The world needs more people like you and fewer people like me." James states.
"But you do have a kind pure heart." Carlos expresses himself.
"If that's true Katie wouldn't hate me and I wouldn't have attacked George last night." James states.
"Mistakes happen. Bad decisions are made. That's life." Carlos expresses himself.
"You're starting to sound like Logan." James states.
"I learn a lot from him." He's a fantastic teacher." Carlos expresses his admiration for his buddy.
"Doesn't he ever sound stuck up to you?" James enquires.
"No just very passionate." Carlos expresses himself.
"You never think negatively about him?" See his flaws?" James states.
"I don't care about his flaws, and no, I've never had reason to dislike him." His imperfections do not define him. His brain does." Carlos expresses himself.
"That is extremely thoughtful of you to say. I haven't been too thoughtful recently." James expresses regret.
"What do you think you should do about that?" Carlos enquires.
"I'm not positive." "I think I'm done." James states.
"You're not hopeless." Carlos expresses himself.
"I feel hopeless," James says.
"Breakfast should make you feel better," adds Carlos.
"I'm not hungry but I'll go if that'll make you happy." James states.
Kendall and Logan get up and leave the room to walk downstairs. When George and Jesse spot James, they become extremely terrified and rush to the elevators.
Katie notices this and simply shakes her head before continuing down the corridor with the other girls and Tyler.
