The story takes place before Subaru is summoned. He should have been summoned, but Satela didn't want him to have to suffer in the face of Daphne's beast, so she tries to reverse the summoning (a rental exchange), but gets her magic wrong and only manages to summon the 3 monsters in Subaru's world. Exhausted, she says to herself that she'll summon him another time and keep watching for the time being.

Subaru woke up from a nightmare in which he had seen his parents happy and a gigantic pack of rabbits had come to eat them. One day, he wished he could see them again to thank them for everything. He went back to sleep, with a few tears. Beatrice, his spirit shakes him, Subaru says to give him a minute but Beatrice quickly tells him there's a big problem so he suddenly gets up and surprises the spirit. Looking around, he saw not his room but his world - he was back in Japan.

Satela had summoned Subaru and Od Laguna quickly noticed the appearance of someone she'd never seen before. The world gives her the power to have any blessing she wishes.

Re:School Depression
