Jonny's Return – Chapter 1

"I've been down and I'm wondering why

These little black clouds keep walking around

With me, with me..."

- Maybe Tomorrow, Stereophonics

Gaz woke up at 3:30 in the morning in his usual flat, all alone in the dark. The moonlight shines through the windows above his kitchenette and went all the way to the edge of his bed. Gaz looks over to look at his alarm clock, and it now reads 3:33.

333. It is a big reminder to encourage yourself, the result is near. Gaz thinks to himself.

As Gaz struggles to go back to sleep, he recalls a dream he just had of his old pal, Jonny Keogh. Gaz still misses Jonny, about almost sixteen years after he got eaten by a shark while doing a stunt in Hawaii. Gaz dreamt that he was in Hawaii too, trying to rescue Jonny from the shark. But it was too much for Gaz to handle. Gaz got up and turned on the lights in his flat. He got out of his bed in only in his boxers. Gaz walks over to the sink and rinsed off his face and looks out the window to see the view of Runcorn drenched in the darkness, as most of the town is asleep for now. Gaz then walks over to his bookshelves, some of the porn magazines that he still kept, but mostly it's all photo albums and memories of his past. He grabbed one down and it says, Memories 2001-2006.

At the first page, it was a letter that Jonny Keogh wrote to Gaz, Janet, and everyone close to him before he went to Hawaii. Gaz starts to read the letter:

Dear Gaz,

Mate, I just can't wait to go to Hawaii! Can you and Janet can see that I'm going to be a super famous superstar after this amazing stunt that I'm about to do over a shark? The whole world is going to see the fabulous Jonny Keogh in action!

Sincerely, Jonny.

Gaz keeps on thinking to himself of how everything on that letter ages like milk, big time, after Jonny's untimely death. Gaz just could not keep the tears back, and he sobbed. He turned a page, and there it was. The last ever photo of Gaz and Jonny together before Jonny's trip to Hawaii. It was at a nightclub, and it was the night before Jonny flew to Hawaii. The picture showed Gaz and Jonny doing bunny ears behind each other's heads while the rave lights were doing crazy effects behind them, and each were holding a bottle of beer in their other hands, raising them to the air.

Gaz couldn't keep in the emotions any longer, and he started to sob some more.

Gaz went back to his bed, and tried to cry into his pillow, but he heard a knock. But the knock sounded so familiar to him, like he hadn't heard it in sixteen years.

"Oi, Gaz!" a familiar, but older voice yelled behind the front door.

Gaz's icy blue eyes opened with shock, and replied, "Jonny? Is that you?"

Gaz looked through his front door to see a tall, skinny man with huge, brown eyes and a big, wonky nose with a big, cheesy grin across his face.

No way that was Jonny at the door. That's impossible, he's been dead for almost sixteen years. Gaz thought to himself.

"We haven't seen each other since the nightclub on the night before I flew into Hawaii, about sixteen years ago, mate!" The man stated. Then, he pulled out the same exact photo of him and Gaz at the nightclub from his wallet, and even a credit card and a Driver's ID that says Jonny Keogh on it.

"Jonny?!" Gaz yelled. "What the hell are you doing out here at 3:30 in the morning?" Gaz then squints his eyes to see a younger woman with platinum blonde hair and glasses behind Jonny, who also looks over at Gaz since he yelled. "Who the hell is she?"

"That's my wife, Andie! We're here to visit you guys!" Jonny replied.

Gaz just cannot believe the words Jonny said. "Wife?! You already got one, but…"

"Is Janet and Corinthian still here?" Jonny asked.

Since Jonny's supposed death, Gaz and Janet fell in love yet again, but Gaz went into an accident, and it made Janet upset that she and Corinthian ran away from Runcorn. Gaz gulped nervously as Jonny waited for an answer.

"To be honest, Jon, no. They left." Gaz finally answered.

"Why? What happened?" Jonny asked.

Jonny's huge, brown eyes began to water as he began to face the fact that he would never see his first wife and first son ever again. His current wife, Andie, comforts him as he starts to sob.

As they comfort one another, Gaz opens the door, and a little toddler ran into his flat like a roadrunner. As Jonny and Andie went in, Gaz asked them, "Who's that little rascal? He sure does look a lot like you."

Jonny immediately answered, "That's my son, Elio. At least, he's actually my biological son, unlike Corinthian. Me and Andie had him for a year and a half now."

"Oh really? He's your actual son?" Gaz replied.

"Yep, also took a DNA test on him, and yes, I AM his father!" Jonny exclaimed.

Gaz made way for Jonny and Andie to sit down, and for Elio to sit by them as well, as Gaz straightens everything up in the bookshelves, and even himself. He puts on a jumpsuit that he wears while he does his car mechanic job during the day.

"Okay, now we're all settled! Ok, Jonny, what really happened to you while you were in Hawaii? What happened afterwards?" Gaz asked Jonny a complex question.

Jonny let out a big gulp, and Andie comforted him yet again.

"Well, it is like a roller coaster, so strap on in, Gaz." Jonny answered.
