Everything was dark for a long time, but then the hatchling's vision swirled into a vast green expanse. It was the mountainous area he was in before, but the mountain was no longer smoking, covered in vast amounts of foliage and steeped in trees. Around him, an endless forest covered in vines with a nearby stream running through the area.
As he was gazing out into the green expanse, a massive emerald dragon with a deep purple underbelly and a shining golden crown flew above the treetops. A loud roar echoed throughout the forest overhead, and then the whelp's eyes snapped awake.
The whelp's body jolted awake as he saw a squirrel curiously watching on top of his body and it darted away. Looking over to his side he saw a lake bed with a tree overhead. Approaching the lake the hatchling peered at his reflection looking back at him.
A head steep in violet topped with a brilliant blue and golden yellow trailing down, curved obsidian horns peeking out the top of his skull. The tips of his wings flexed out slowly transforming the blue to an emerald color with a deeper red on the inside, all as piercing molten orange eyes stared back at him.
He jumped back after taking in his appearance, the memory of the bodies littering about that infernal lair, the deformed, broken bodies that only spelled out the one thing he could think; "Monster…" his voice croaked as he felt his throat crack in pain. He crawled over to the lake and began to drink, the cool water washing down his throat, the first feeling of relief he had felt in a long while.
Dragging his body over to the hillside he was upon, he noticed a stone path leading to a small collection of buildings in the middle of the forest. Despite all thoughts in his mind screaming at him, telling him to hide or run away, the curiosity towards the warmth the place exuded attracted it to him. The hatchling would explore the area, but at least be mindful about it.
Taking off using his aching wings the whelp took towards the mysterious village, but before reaching the buildings, he took notice of another figure. A human clad in armor similar to the adventurers the dragon had seen before, but this one had blue designs and the symbol of a lion on the front of the figure. Surrounding him, a pack of wolves moves in for the kill.
The hatchling had no need to help this man, one similar to his own stabbed and nearly ended his life; yet looking at this person visions began flashing before the whelp's eyes. He saw a man who appeared as an older version of this person, hair graying, surrounded by loved ones, children, grandchildren as the whelp kept seeing further and further.
Racing down towards the man's side the guard startled by the new presence turned his fearfully waving sword towards the new arrival, "What- what the hell are you?!"
The whelp not paying him any mind, felt a strange churning from within himself and directed it towards the wolves. After a brief moment, from his mouth came a green, translucent liquid that sprayed upon the wolves.
The wolves yelped in pain as the areas the liquid struck began to melt inward. Suddenly the melting area began to sprout as small plants, and flowers began to rapidly grow out of those areas. The pack began to fear what else would happen, and turned tail to run, and the whelp faced the man now.
Taking notice of a bleeding injury to the man's arm, the hatchling took a moment to glance down to the closing injury to his own claw, and began to approach him. "ST- STAY BACK!" The main started to wave his sword wildly, but the whelp did not run off just yet, he felt another strange power forming within his gut. Whatever he was about to do just felt natural, he opened his jaw once again, and golden flames began to spew forth and onto the man's arm.
The soldier squirmed and wailed in fear as the flames washed over him, but no pain ever came. In fact, the flames felt… soothing? He watched as the wound the wolf had left of his arm slowly closed up as the flames licked over it, and he looked at his healed arm in amazement.
Feeling his power spent the whelp then stared at the man for a brief moment, beneath the helmet is the young man that would grow up to be that person he saw in the vision right?
After the moment passed the whelp darted into the nearest treetop taking advantage of the daze the man was left in, and watching him from there. He looked around confused for a moment and then began to trudge in the direction of the village the whelp was heading towards.
Tilting his head towards the scene he had just created and questioning whatever power he had just exhibited, the hatchling continued his journey further through the forest.
