Chapter 11: I've Got the Siren's Song Stuck in my Head:

Jewel's POV:

I was having trouble sleeping because I was having that dream again... the dream about her voice. In case you have no idea what I'm talking about... there was this siren, Thessanora. She had this beautiful voice and her singing had me under her control. I was her slave and she used me to steal my Father's trident. If it wasn't for Pearl, all of Lemuria would have been lost to that siren. The problem is, I still have her song in my head... I still have these feelings, but I couldn't let anyone know. I had to find a way to resist the siren!

Pearl's POV:

I had a great dream about walking on land. Anyway, it was morning, and we were having breakfast... but Jewel was acting a little strange.

"Did you get any sleep," asks Delphine.

"What song," asks Jewel, "I mean...yes, I'm fine. Nothing in my head. Certainly not dreaming about singing... or lips... or... I'm just going to stop talking now."

I was getting suspicious.

. . .

I was following Jewel, but then I got distracted when I saw a poster of the biggest singing sensation in the seven seas, Nadia!

"Nadia's coming here," I asked, "I don't... wait, what was I doing again?" I then looked and saw Jewel was gone. I then slapped myself.

. . .

I was talking to Ianthe.

"I'm sure Jewel's fine," says Ianthe, "maybe she just met someone... again."

"I'm surprised Jewel would even try again after the last time," I said.

"Guess Jewel's just braver than the rest of us," says Ianthe.

Unlike Jewel, Ianthe's been... too nervous to come out. The rest of us have been trying to convince her to tell people... but I guess in her defense, it's not the kind of thing you can bring up in conversations.

"I know what to do," I said, "convince Jewel to come to the concert with me."

"That could work," says Ianthe.

"You have to come too," I said.

"You know I'm not really that into Nadia," says Ianthe.

"Yeah, but you need to get out more," I said.

"You're not wrong," says Ianthe.

. . .

We arrived at the concert.

"Honestly, music's the last thing I want anything to do with," says Jewel.

"But you're going to love Nadia," I said.

"Love's also the last thing I want to do," says Jewel.

We were all in the audience and on stage was Nadia.

Nadia: You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep my faith will stand

And I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

So, I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine, oh

And You are mine, oh

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Saviour

I will call upon Your Name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine!

. . .

We were going to meet Nadia in person.

"Wasn't she amazing," I asked.

"I guess," says Ianthe.

"I... actually liked it," says Jewel.

"Next!"

"Nadia, I'm Pearl and I'm like your biggest fan," I said.

"Good to meet you, Pearl," says Nadia, "and who is this?"

"These are my sisters, Ianthe and Jewel," I said.

"Jewel, huhh," says Nadia, "you sure look like a jewel."

"UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... thanks... I... hi," says Jewel.

Nadia then signed a picture for me. "So, Jewel, maybe some point, you can show me around the kingdom. Being new in town..."

"UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... sorry, but... I try to avoid singers," says Jewel.

"But I can show you around," I said. Ianthe then whispers that Nadia meant as a date. "On second thought, never mind."

. . .

We were outside. "I can't believe we met Nadia," I said, "and she was asking you out, Jewel!"

"Yeah, guys, there's something you..." Jewel then stops. It's like she was in a trance. She then swims away.

"That was weird," I said, "let's follow her."

. . .

We followed Jewel and then we saw a face I did not want Jewel anywhere near again.

"Thessanora," I said, "but Jewel should be over her!"

"What if Jewel isn't freed from the Siren... completely," asks Ianthe.

"Great, she has a song stuck in her head," I said.

"My Darling, I have missed you," says Thessanora.

"N-no," says Jewel, "get away from me!"

"Are you afraid of the love we share," asks Thessanora.

"There is no love," says Jewel, "you used me!"

"Oh," asks Thessanora. Thessanora then grabs on to Jewel. Jewel tries to fight it, but Thessanora starts pulling her in closer and is about to kiss her...

"Stay away from her," I said.

"Pearl," says Thessanora, "I have not forgotten about you."

"You are a heartless manipulator," I said.

"Funny, considering it was a merman who broke a siren's heart," says Thessanora.

"That was one merman and one siren years ago," I said, "this is no reason for all of you to hate all of us!"

"Jewel, come with me," says Thessanora, "we have work to do." They then swam away.

Ianthe and I gave chase, but siren-controlled sharks got in our way. "Really," I asked.

Jewel's POV:

I woke up and found myself in a white wedding dress. "What," I asked.

"Oh, you're awake, my Darling," says Thessanora and she was also wearing a black wedding dress.

"Get away from me," I said, "I hate you!"

"I can change that," says Thessanora, "for I thought of the perfect way to get revenge on your kind."

"How," I asked.

"By marrying into the royal family," says Thessanora, "imagine what could happen."

"I will never marry you," I said, "you're a monster!"

"A monster who has you under a spell." She then begins singing. I try to fight it... but I can't! "Now, Princess Jewel, will you marry me?"

"Yes... my love."

Pearl's POV:

We managed to get past Thessanora's fan club and swam into siren territory.

"Remember, the sirens all hate mermaids," says Ianthe.

"And they have hypnotic singing," I said, "hey, since sirens are all female, where do baby sirens come from?"

"From siren mothers who have mated outside their species," says Ianthe. "whether they're male or female."

"That answers that," I said.

. . .

We finally found Thessanora and she was wearing a black wedding dress.

"I can't believe you're going to marry a mermaid," says an older siren, "if your father was here..."

"That'd be impressive, Mother, considering you killed him when I was born," says Thessanora.

"He was starting to break free from my control," says Thessanora's Mother, "I couldn't let him warn the other sailors!"

"Once I marry Jewel, it will bring shame to the Lemurian Royal Family," says Thessanora.

"Can't Pacific just disown the kid," asks Thessanora's Mother.

"That's the best part," says Thessanora, "he wouldn't. He'd have no choice but to renounce the throne and all of Lemuria will go into chaos."

"We have to stop her," I said.

. . .

The wedding was beginning, but..."If anyone has any reason why these two should not be wed..."

"We have plenty of reasons," I said, and Ianthe and I crashed in.

"Get rid of them," says Thessanora.

The sirens all came attacking us. They had us down. That was enough to make Jewel fight it and she helped us. "Let's get out of here," says Jewel.

We started swimming away and the Sirens gave chase.

"You're not the only ones with powerful voices," I said. The three of us then used our singing to have the water around us stop the sirens and knock them all down.

. . .

We were back at the palace.

"Thanks," says Jewel, "I guess I should've told you I still had that siren's song in my head."

"You know we're here for you," says Ianthe.

"I just wish there was a way to keep her song out," says Jewel.

"Well... Nadia's still in town," I said, "in fact, she's moving in."

"I... I don't know if..."

. . .

Jewel's now on a date with Nadia.

"I'm glad for her," says Ianthe.

"Hi, I'm Malila, Nadia's manager."

"UUUUUUUUUhhhhhhhhh... hi... I'm... hi," says Ianthe.

In the next chapter, Bai Tza has to go after Pearl.
