Chapter 8: The Scotsman:
Jack's POV:
We were crossing a bridge, but then there was a sound we did not like. Then there were three others.
"Ah think we fun ourselves an audience," says a woman.
They continued and then stopped.
"Excuse us," I said.
"'n' how come shuid we shift," asks a man who is missing a leg.
"We need to get through," says Peter.
"Weel, mibbie we need tae git though tae," says the other man.
Then they started insulting us.
"I fear no man," I said.
"That's muckle blether comin' fae a sissy wee jimmy haudin' a butter claymore!"
We then had a sword fight. I tried to cut his sword in half, but that did nothing.
"Ancient hielan magic, now's th' time tae halt wi' th' ballet! Barabal, Lachlann, watch me mak' lunchmeat oot o' him!"
As we continued fighting, bounty hunters came.
"They're after us," we all said, "they're after you? They're after us!"
"Aku haes a cost oan oor heid," says Barabal.
"Look... I'm going to assume you are a woman," says Jill, "Aku has a price on our heads!"
The Bounty Hunters then cuffed the one-legged man and me together. We ended up falling off the bridge while our respected friends were captured by the bounty hunters.
. . .
"Thay think that's enough tae murdurr auld Fergus?"
"Fergus, is it," I asked, "we have to find a way to remove these cuffs and save our friends."
"Ye hae a point thare"
We then went on our way.
. . .
"Mah crew 'n' ah hae bin making fools oot o' that de'il wannabe fur a lang time," says Fergus, "thir's na wey ye cuid replace me as his batch yin bounty!" He then sees the wanted posters with my face on them. He is not amused and gets rid of them.
"We tried with our swords," I said, "it seems the were prepared."
"Aye, sae whit dae we dae?"
"We think," I said.
Jill's POV:
"Whin Fergus gets 'ere, ye movie rejects wull be torn apairt," says Barabel.
"You are such a charmer," I said.
"Fergus is th' seicont toughest body we ken," says Lachlann.
"Wait, who's the first," asks Peter.
"Mah best mukker," says Barabel.
"Ye twa seemed stressed," says Lachlann, "Ah ken howfur tae mak' yer feelin' better."
Lachlann: O Flower of Scotland
When will we see your like again?
That fought and died for
Your wee bit Hill and Glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's Army
And sent him homeward tae think again
The Hills are bare now
And Autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
Which those so dearly held
That stood against him
Proud Edward's Army
And sent him homeward tae think again
Those days are past now
And in the past, they must remain
But we can still rise now
And be the nation again
That stood against him
Proud Edward's Army
And sent him homeward tae think again
The Hills are bare now
And Autumn leaves lie thick and still
O'er land that is lost now
That though so dearly held
O Flower of Scotland
When will we see your like again?
That fought and died for
Your wee bit Hill and Glen
And stood against him
Proud Edward's Army
And sent him homeward tae think again!
"Strangely, that doesn't help," says Peter.
Jack's POV:
Fergus and I continued on our journey through the swamp.
"Ah think ah hear thaim comin'," says Fergus.
The Bounty Hunters then came, and we tried to fight them, but the handcuffs got in the way.
"We cannae git anywhere wi' this glaikit chain," says Fergus.
I then had an idea. When the Bounty Hunters fired a missle, we used it to remove the chain. Now that we were free, we fought the bounty hunters and we were defeating them.
"You both did excellently," says Jill.
"Ah wis wrong aboot ye, Laddie," says Fergus, "c'moan, ah will buy ye a drink."
"No, I will buy you a drink," I said.
We then started arguing while our friends started laughing.
