Chapter 18: Dragon For a Day:
Pearl's POV:
Slippery and I were collecting more human items when we heard something.
"What was that," asks Slippery.
"Let's take a look," I said.
. . .
Humans were hunting whales.
"How can anyone do such a thing," I asked, "at least sharks hunt for food."
"Well, nothing we can do about it," says Slippery.
I saw a whale was in danger. I then decided to try to help the whale. I used my singing to have the water drive the humans away.
"What was that," asks one human.
"I told you the sea was evil," says the other human.
"Are you..." The whale then sneezes a boat out. "Alright?"
"Sorry about that," says the Whale, "I accidently ate a boat containing a human, a cat, a goldfish, and a puppet. They made a fire and I ended up sneezing them out. I hope they're alright."
"I hope all the whales are going to be okay," I said.
"You helped me, so I will grant you one wish."
"What?"
The whale was not a whale. It was a disguise. She was actually a sea dragon like Pelboss. "I am Mikyno and I have the power to grant any wish."
"Really," I asked.
"Yes, but you must be careful with what you wish for," says Mikyno.
Mikyno: Couldn't wait to ride out of that one horse town
Didn't see no use in sticking around
I was green and busting at the seams to leave
I was sitting on G, waiting on O
The day I hit eighteen, I hit the road
Traded that county maintain for a four lane city street
But sometimes things ain't what you think they're gonna be
What you want ain't always what you need
Don't know what you got 'til it's gone and you're out on your own
All you want is what you can't get back
Once you let it go, then you know what you have
Don't hold a candle to what you had
Sometimes what you think you'll find
It ain't quite what real life has in store
So be careful what you wish for
She was holding on just a little too tight
Talked a little too much about the rest of our lives
I broke her heart thinking freedom would set me free
Well, sometimes things ain't what you think they're gonna be
Don't know what you got 'til it's gone and you're out on your own
All you want is what you can't get back
Once you let it go, then you know what you have
Don't hold a candle to what you had
Sometimes what you think you'll find
It ain't quite what real life has in store
So be careful what you wish for
'Cause these city lights can't shine quite like the stars
I wish I could wish her back into my arms
Don't know what you got 'til it's gone and you're out on your own
All you want is what you can't get back
Once you let it go, then you know what you have
Don't hold a candle to what you had
Sometimes what you think you'll find
It ain't quite what real life has in store
And you can't get her back no more
So be careful what you wish for
Be careful what you wish for!
"So, what is your wish, Child?"
Sea Dragons are amazing and if I were one... wait, that's how I can help the whales! "I wish to be a sea dragon... just for a day!"
"Did you not hear my song," asks Mikyno.
"I heard it, I just didn't hear the lyrics," I said.
"Very well." Mikyno's eyes then began to glow, and my body began to change. I was becoming a sea dragon. I was the same color as my tail. "Now, go and enjoy your new form for the day."
Sailor's POV:
My name is Herman and I'm with my paranoid shipmate, Melvin.
"I'm telling you," says Melvin, "the Sea is evil!"
"Will you knock it off," I asked, "there was something else."
"Didn't you hear what happened to the pirate, Mad Eye Duke? There are many man-killing things in the Sea, Sirens, Kappas, Mermaids..."
"Last time I checked, kappas are in the East," I said, "now, we have to go back so I can make some money and finally move out of my Mom's place." I'm a short guy who is slightly overweight. Melvin is a tall skinny man with a pointy nose. I then saw something in the water. "Melvin, come take a look!"
Melvin looks but he didn't see whatever it is I saw. "Sure, make fun of the paranoid man," says Melvin.
I don't know what I saw, but I have a feeling it was going to make me rich.
Pearl's POV:
"You sure are a big dragon," says Slippery.
"I think I'm slightly smaller than the other dragons," I said, "but who cares? Look at what I'm capable of!"
I could do so many things I was not capable of before.
"And what are you going to do now," asks Slippery.
"I'm going to keep the whales safe," I said, "I have until the end of the day, but at least I'll protect them." I then swam off.
. . .
I found the whales. I have always loved their singing. Now I just have to keep them safe.
Herman's POV:
"The water is not going to eat you," I said.
"I don't trust the sea," says Melvin.
"Why are you a sailor, then," I asked.
"Because you told me we would be respected," says Melvin, "why do I always listen to you?"
"Because I'm always right," I said, "now, I'm going to be on the lookout." I then saw some whales. "Let's get us some whales!"
Pearl's POV:
Humans were coming after this poor baby whale. I had to make my move. I then got in the way and charged at the boat.
Herman's POV:
Something rammed into us. I looked and couldn't believe my eyes. It was some kind of sea dragon.
"Melvin, did you see that?"
"I'm too busy trying not to drown, Herman!"
"Oh right, it's rocking the boat."
We fell out and the sea dragon left.
"Another fine mess you got us in," says Melvin.
"Melvin, that was a sea dragon, and we have to go after it... as soon as we're back in the boat."
Pearl's POV:
I managed to stop those humans... but now they're coming after me. Are they pirates like Mad Eye Duke? I had to swim away.
"I think we're going too fast," says one human.
"You're just too slow," says the other.
I needed to hide... but the problem is, I was so big, it was hard to hide. How do the Sea Dragons avoid being seen for so long.
"Is there a problem," asks Mikyno.
"I'm hiding from these two humans," I said.
"Not so easy being a dragon, is it," asks Mikyno.
"No, I guess I'd be better off as a mermaid," I said.
"I think you can accomplish more as a mermaid then we can," says Mikyno.
"Can you turn me back," I asked.
"I shall."
Mikyno then turns me back and disappears. The humans were looking. "Hey, you," says the short one. Because my lower half was in the water, he didn't see it, so he thought I was human. I can use that. "Have you seen a sea dragon?"
"There are no sea dragons here," I said.
"There, you see," says the tall one, "now, let's get out of here. There might be a kraken somewhere." They left.
Herman's POV:
As we were leaving, I realize that the girl has mixture of blue, teal, green, and purple hair, mixture of cyan, aquamarine, turquoise, and teal eye, and mixture of white, silver, brown, and yellow skin which I then decided to turn around and saw that the girl swim away and she had a fish tail. She was a mermaid!
Pearl's POV:
Slippery and I were swimming.
"So, what was it like being a dragon," asks Slippery.
"It was incredible," I said, "but I think I'll stick with being a mermaid."
We then heard the whales sing.
"I think they're singing about you," says Slippery.
They were beautiful.
In the next chapter, Mad Eye Duke is about to go to Davy Jones' Locker.
