Dog Lovers
"We should get a dog," Partitio announced suddenly.
He and Throné were supposed to be getting the campfire lit while everyone else was either getting extra wood, finding water, or hunting. They got done early, so they had a few minutes to sit around. And it was during that time that the thought occurred to Partitio.
Throné blinked, but sounded amused. "Now that's something we can agree on. Everyone needs a dog. We shouldn't put a leash on it, though."
"I getcha there, I know you don't like collars," Partitio said in consideration. "But we'd gotta keep a close eye on it. You know, make sure the little doggie's safe and stuff."
"This is true," Throné admitted. "Dogs are wonderful and should be looked after. Now the question is... what kind do we get?"
"Well, you're right that all dogs are great... So that makes it hard to pick. Maybe we just gotta find one who needs some good friends!"
Throné nodded in response to this. That was how she'd met her dog friend in New Delsta, just by finding a dog who looked like she needed help. Surely they could find one in the next big city they stopped in.
Still, they had to be sure they didn't accidentally take someone else's pet. Throné might have been a thief, but she'd still feel bad if she stole someone's friend. The rest of the party came back to find them discussing the best methods for attracting dogs, and Ochette's usual suggestion of meat was actually pretty good here.
And that was how Throné and Partitio ended up leaving Wellgrove after their next trip there with not one but three dogs, all of whom were mutts of various sizes and shapes.
"You can never have too many dogs," Partitio tried to justify to everyone else, to which Throné completely agreed.
