Disclaimer: I don't own Camelot
Guinevere sat numb outside the nunnery. How had her life gotten so complicated? She loved Arthur. There was no doubt about that. She always would love him. It wasn't like the ''love'' she had for Lance. Lance was dear to her, but that had just been a feeling of friendship… which had become something wild and deep. The love she had for Arthur was pure. Arthur had always loved her. He loved her since they'd met. He didn't want to send her away. He didn't want to say goodbye. Tears pricked at her eyes then burst like a dam. Suddenly she felt a pair of gentle hands on her shoulders.
Guinevere was startled.
"Jenny?"
"Arthur? Have you come to say goodbye one more time?"
Arthur sat beside her.
"I tried to stay angry. I tried to be hurt. I tried to let go of the love I feel for you. Jenny, I couldn't stop loving you even if I died. You are my world. You're the air in my lungs. I came to bring you back home."
"Nobody will ever accept me anymore," Guinevere said, "They will be furious with you for forgiving me."
"They can be as furious as they want to be," Arthur replied, "My life without you is not worth living, and besides I'm the King."
"I know," Guinevere replied.
"I will make it clear that you are to be treated with kindness, respect, and love as you always were. If that command is broken they will pay the price."
I wonder what price I will pay, Guinevere thought out loud.
"The same price I paid," Arthur replied, "Three days of being without love is enough and far too much of a punishment."
When Arthur and Guinevere arrived back at the Castle everyone was there.
"Jenny has been forgiven," Arthur announced.
"Why," Mordred asked.
"Because I love her," Arthur said, "She is the Queen of my heart and she is your Queen. She will be treated with love and respect or there will be a price to pay."
"Is she going to pay a price for her betrayal," Mordred asked.
"What part of forgiven, did you not understand," Arthur asked with a calm annoyance.
Mordred sighed and walked away. Guinevere now knew the power of true love and forgiveness.
