After seeing the movie again during the theatrical re-release here in North America, and then the subsequent streaming premiere on Crunchyroll, I decided it was time to write some more cute one-shot fics for one of my new fave OTPs!

Also, if you're new to this fandom because you just found the movie through streaming, welcome! I hope you enjoy this fic, and if you find yourself wanting more one-shots, I have more on my profile.

The stiff fabric of her veil slowly slid into place as one of the assistants helped to secure it into her hair with a few fasteners, Suzume watching her the reflection of the mirror as the final piece of her wedding kimono came together. She could see how red her cheeks were as she spotted her Aunt Tamaki standing behind her, a few small tears creeping up into her eyes and causing them to look glassy.

"Don't start crying, Tamaki. You'll make me cry too!" Suzume said teasingly.

Tamaki quickly moved to brush the small tears away, "Well, I can't help it. Watching you… seeing the woman you've grown into… I'm just… it's overwhelming."

As the assistant announced she had finished, taking her leave and giving the women a moment, Tamaki slowly moved behind Suzume, gently placing her hands over her shoulders, catching her niece's gaze in the mirror, "Your mother would've been so proud of you, Suzume, and I know she would've given anything to be here today."

Suzume smiled softly as she nodded, "I know. Thank you… Tamaki."

After a few more minutes, Suzume asked if she could have a few minutes to herself before they headed over to the shrine, which Tamaki granted her.

As she stood in the mirror, staring back at herself, she could help but imagine the man who was about to become her husband standing at her side.

'Today's the day.'

She couldn't believe it. Suzume never thought she'd actually be here, but here she was, getting ready to marry Souta Munakata.

After everything they'd been through, and the struggles they'd had, it felt like this was the last hurdle they needed to face together. She knew there would always be hurdles, especially for them — they had a knack for finding trouble after all — but at least she knew that no matter how hard things might get… they'd always have each other.

A small gust of wind outside her window drew her attention outside as she looked out into the vast greenery of the bamboo forest that surrounded them. It was only fitting that they get married somewhere isolated and rural. A small shrine that was connected to the nature surrounding it seemed appropriate, given how their paths had crossed.

There weren't many people here to witness the ceremony — Suzume's aunt, Tamaki, and her co-worker, Minoru; Souta's friend, Serizawa; and a smaller selection of their colleagues and peers. It was an intimate wedding, and they both preferred it that way.

The gentle swaying of the bamboo and their many leaves rustling in the breeze was a beautiful symphony of quietness that Suzume needed as she steadied her heart, which was pounding out of her chest.

Gradually, there was a small pattering sound. First one, then another, and another.

Suzume watched as it started to rain. Not heavily, but enough to create a hazy mist through the forest. The greens suddenly became almost more vibrant against the grey of the fog, and Suzume could only smile to herself.

"Oh Suzume, I'm so sorry, we may have to delay the ceremony by a little bit," Tamaki said as she came into Suzume room, "Rain just started, and the priests are going to wait for it to pass before they start."

"That's alright. The rain is fine," Suzume replied with a smile, "We can get started if everyone is ready."

Tamaki gave her a baffled look, "But... what about your hair? Your makeup? And your kimono will get all wet as well!"

The smile on her lips never faded, "It'll be fine. I'd rather get married in the rain anyways."

Tamaki didn't understand her reasoning, but decided to fulfill her niece's wishes as she returned to inform everyone to get ready for the ceremony.

Souta stood patiently, dressed and ready in his formal attire, on the elevated deck of the living area where they were getting ready, watching the rain coming down. He, too, couldn't seem to keep the smile that graced his face off, even with such weather.

"What a bummer; having it rain on your wedding day," he heard Serizawa say as he came up from behind him, patting Souta on the back to encourage him, "That really sucks."

"Actually, I don't mind it at all," Souta replied confidently.

"Huh? How come? Most people would upset for it to rain on their big day."

"Well… Suzume and I aren't most people. And besides, rain on your wedding day is supposed to be a sign of good luck," Souta explained, "In all honesty, we were both somewhat hoping it might rain today, even for just a few minutes."

Serizawa gave his friend a baffled look, "You two truly are meant for each other then. Couple'a weirdos, the both of you."

With one last handshake and an offering of good luck, Serizawa joined the rest of the guests as they all waited for the ceremony to begin. Luckily, they had their umbrellas at the ready, and were all covered from getting drenched in the outdoor courtyard where the ceremony was taking place.

Tamaki also came up behind him, tapping him on his shoulder, and handing him a more traditional bangasa umbrella, rather than the more modern and conventional umbrellas the guests would use, "It's time."

She giggled as she watched Souta take the umbrella and turn around, finding his beautiful bride looking stunning in her robes. He'd temporarily forgotten how to breath as he watched Suzume lightly raise her veil so she could look up at him, and admire him as well. They exchanged a knowing look between them that said so much and yet nothing at all.

Her aunt quietly wished them both good luck and headed off, much like Serizawa did, leaving the pair to walk along the courtyard path together to begin the procession.

Souta soon returned to himself, opening the bangasa to ready them for the rain. Before he took her hand, Souta quietly whispered, "You look beautiful, Suzume."

She smiled as she accepted his hand, "And you look so handsome, as always."

He smirked back at her before turning so they could start walking together, hand in hand, with Souta holding the umbrella to cover them both. As they started to slowly move so Suzume could shuffle along in her kimono, he helped her down the steps and into the courtyard, which was already filling with small puddles of water from the rain.

They turned the corner and spotted their guests, all eagerly awaiting their arrival and watching is muted awe, the only sound the constant pattering of the drops of water around them.

Suzume leaned into his side a little as she spoke softly, "I think Daijin has blessed us today."

Souta couldn't help but widen his smile, "Rain, for us, has always meant disaster has been averted. That everything… is safe."

She nodded, letting her hand tighten around his a little more as they walked up to the priest who was officiating the wedding. She said before they reached the small shrine, "What better way for the gods to let us know that everything will be okay?"

This was written very quickly and meant to just get out an idea I had in my head for the last month or so.

Hope you enjoyed it, and please leave a kudos/comment if you did, it really helps keep me motivated to write more.

Until Next Time…
