Chapter 56: Jack and the Scarab:
Jack's POV:
It was a long time ago, in Egypt. As children, Jill, Peter and I would play in a temple. One point, we stopped when I saw the Priests. When they left, we went back to our game of tag and Peter was it. But as I hid, I fell in a hole on the floor and found myself in an underground room. I studied the hieroglyphics.
"What is that," asks Jill as she and Peter arrived.
"I do not know," I said, "I was just going to find that out. It looks like some kind of tomb. And there's a story on it. It says that long ago, the evil overlord Set came and unleashed his evil minions upon the land. None of the great Pharaoh's armies could stop the minions as they brought terror to all. The Pharaoh then called upon a great power to imprison the minions. Here, in this tomb where they would stay forever. If the evil minions of Set were ever to be freed from their prison, the only salvation would be to..."
We were then grabbed by a Priest. "What are you children doing down here? You should be studying far away from this tomb! Go, now!"
We then left.
Aku's POV:
Ashi and I arrived in Egypt. I then freed the Minions of Set. "The ancient prophecies are true," I said, "you are most impressive. Minions of Set. But now that I, the Great Aku have freed you, you owe me a service. A samurai warrior approaches this temple. Destroy him!" The Minions understood. I then laughed and Ashi and I left.
Jack's POV:
Jill, Peter, and I were walking through the sands of Egypt.
Jill: I won't forget, the wonder of how You brought
Deliverance, the exodus of my heart
'Cause You found me, you freed me
Held back the waters for my release
O Yahweh
You're the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah
Hallelujah, oh
The cloud by day, is a sign that You are with me
The fire by night, is the guiding light to my feet
'Cause You found me, you freed me
Held back the waters for my release
O Yahweh
You're the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah
Hallelujah, oh
You're the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah
Hallelujah, oh
You stepped into my Egypt
And You took me by the hand
And You marched me out in freedom
Into the promised land
And now I will not forget You, no
I'll sing of all You've done
Death is swallowed up forever
By the fury of Your love
'Cause You stepped into my Egypt
And You took me by the hand
You marched me out in freedom
Into the promised land
Now I will not forget You, God
I'll sing of all You've done
Death is swallowed up forever
By the fury of Your love
You're the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
And You're the God who fights for me
Lord of every victory
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
And You have torn apart the sea
You have led me through the deep
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
'Cause You stepped into my Egypt
You took me by the hand
And You marched me out in freedom
Straight into the promised land
Now I will not forget You, no
I'll sing of all You've done
Death is swallowed up forever
By the fury of Your love!
"Were you singing," I asked.
"We have been here for far too long," says Peter.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about that song our teachers used to sing to us when we studied here," says Jill.
"Wait," I said, "does this place seem familiar?"
Peter and Jill then looked around. "Now that you mention it," says Jill.
I then realized. "This was the temple where we learned about..." I then moved and found the prison. "The Minions of Set!"
"Who would free them," asks Peter.
We then all thought about it. "Aku," we all said.
Then something punched me. And three figures were beating me senseless. Jill and Peter then got out their weapons and tried to help. I then got out my sword and we fought the Minions. They were some sort of jackal monsters, and I must be honest... they were winning.
"I told you we should've gone to Senegal," says Peter.
"We have to regroup," says Jill.
We were then forced to run, but the Minions hunted us down.
"These creatures are more powerful than anything we have encountered," I said.
"But there has to be a way to destroy them," says Jill.
I then remembered. "The prophecy! Follow me!"
We ran and the Minions gave chase.
. . .
We then found the tomb and I started reading. "If the evil should ever be freed," I said, "your only salvation should be to summon the Protector and call the Sun! To do this, you must..."
The Minions came, so we hid. I manage to sneak back. "You must look for it at the Seat of Evil." I then returned to Jill and Peter and told them.
"What does that mean," asks Peter.
The Minions then attacked us. We then ran and I pushed down a pillar, causing other pillars to fall. As soon as we went through a door. the pillars blocked it, keeping the Minions out.
. . .
"What is this Seat of Evil," asks Jill.
"We better not have to go to Aku's bottom," says Peter.
"The Statue of Set," I said. We then ran, but the Minions were hunting us down again.
. . .
We found the Statue of Set and I started reading. "The Scarab," I said, "it is the key!"
"So, how do we get it," asks Jill.
I then found half of the Scarab. "Look for the other half where the Moon meets the Sea of Reads."
"What," asks Jill.
"Did it ever occur to them that it would have made a lot more sense to make the only way to defeat the Minions of Set easy to find," asks Peter.
The Minions then attacked us again.
"I miss the Beetle Drones," says Jill.
We ran and the Minions chased us down. I was trying to figure out Sea of Reads. What could that mean? We then fought the Minions, and I then figured it out. I then found the other half. All that is missing is the head. "You must look for your salvation in the Crown of the Great Pharaoh." The Minions attacked us.
"Let's go," says Peter.
. . .
We ran to the giant statue of the Pharaoh and climbed it. I then found the scarab's head, but the Minions refused to allow us to use the power. One of them even tried to swallow the head, but I stopped it. I then reunited the pieces, and the scarab flew to the sky. We all waited for something to happen. It seemed like nothing... but then Ra, the Egyptian God of the Sun came. Ra then destroys the Minions.
"Um, excuse me," I said, "thank you for destroying the Minions of Set, but do you happen to know where there is a... time portal?"
Ra then leaves.
"I guess not," says Jill.
