A man suddenly jerked out of bed from the horrible dream he had just had, it had felt so real and he could still feel the pain from it but it went away after a while. The dream itself was something out of a movie or even a book he had read once, he turned his eyes to stare at his alarm clock which read four thirty in the morning and he wasn't supposed to be up for three more hours. He let out a sigh, he may as well get up now. With a good long stretch he got out of bed and looked in his bedroom mirror, his blue topaz hair was a mess and his pjs was a light blue t-shirt and bottoms was a pair of black boxers, his emerald eyes stared right back at him. He had been always told he was really handsome and that he should be a model because of his looks alone, not only that he had been asked many times if he was single... And he was but he already liked someone else that he hadn't gotten the chance to tell his feelings to.
He shook his head to keep those thoughts away, it had been five years since he saw the person he loved most, and no one has heard from them since then as well. A sigh left his mouth and tore his eyes from the mirror and grabbed a pair of black jeans and a white shirt, including his old school uniform vase which he got to keep after he left school. He put on his clothes which would surprise others that still fit him but he wasn't, he hadn't really grown since he got possessed by a he-she demon in his third year at school. He really wasn't gonna question it right now he had to get ready for his job he had to do within the next few hours. After shaking his head and clearing his head before going to his bathroom, his bathroom was normal compared to his old school's bathroom, well, as normal as could get anyway.
His bathroom, unlike the others, had gems scattered all over the walls, and not only had he replaced the floor with rainbow tiles, it suited his deck type and himself perfectly. Johan smiled to himself as he stripped his clothes off and got into the shower to bathe himself quickly since he wanted to get things done before he needed to go work and to distract himself from the dream he just had. After he got out of the shower and putting on his clean clothes before heading back to the room to check if he had any missed calls or messages. Johan's eyes widened in surprise; he had many missed calls from everyone he had befriended at duel academy, he even missed a call from his boss not too long ago. He had four voice mails and many missed messages even from the King of Games himself.
"What did I miss, that even the King had to message me?" He asked himself as he sat down on his bed to view all the voicemails first.
"Hey! Answer your phone! Jerk! We have a huge problem!" Come out Manjome's voice came out in anger and what sounded like panic and he was only first one in his voicemail box, actually he was most of the voicemails the other two was his boss and the others were more calmer from the rest of his friends though they didn't call him a jerk.
"Johan, you're on temporary leave you'll be back to work once you finish your mission," was the voicemail from his boss but to be honest he was confused since his boss said he had a mission which was the main thing he was confused about.
He had no idea what his boss meant by it, so he decided to check his messages. Most of the messages were the same of the voicemails, but the King's was different. It read, 'Come to Kaiba Corp immediately' was all it read and he tilted his head to the side wondering what got everyone in a panic mode since he had been asleep last night and of course when he was in the shower as well. Johan made a mental note to always check his messages as soon as he got up, he hadn't gotten any messages from Judai, although to be fair he and Judai never gave each other their numbers. He let out a sigh before getting up off his bed, he grabbed his wallet and deck off his nightstand before going downstairs to the kitchen for a quick bite to eat, he put on his boots and grabbed his car keys before leaving his house.
As Johan got into his car he was getting a call from Jim, he picked up his phone as he put his keys in the ignition, he closed the door with a soft slam as he answered his phone.
"Jim," he said into the phone as he put it on spreaker so he could hear while he was driving. He placed it in the center console so he could focus more on driving than looking at his phone.
"Johan," the other replied on the other end as he put his car in reverse to pull out of his drive onto the street.
"May I ask why everyone has been messaging and calling me while I was asleep?" Johan questioned as he started to drive, he planned to get gas first before heading towards Kaiba Corp since it was hours away from where he lived in the country.
"Well, can't really say since the King told everyone not to until he told you first, mate," he could hear Shirley in the background eating something.
"Hmm, I'm on my way there now though it will take awhile unless I get on the highway but I'll get there, though I may stop at a fast food place for coffee and something healthier to eat than pop tarts," Johan didn't practically like coffee but he drink it to keep his brain awake throughout the day.
"Well breakfast in some places should be opening soon, I'll meet you at that one called McDonald's. I heard their iced coffee is to die for but I rather check it out myself and judge it after I taste it around to pick me up along the way at 8. But before ya ask Seto Kaiba invited me days ago for a project he wanted to try out with my deck fossil deck, I'll be waiting with Hassleberry," with that he hung up before Johan could object.
Johan let out a sigh he had to deal with this new objective and had to see them eventually he couldn't really stay away from them forever he'd had to prepare himself of the many questions he'd be receiving when they meet most likely because he still looks the same since Duel Academy days. But right now he needed to focus on the road and get gas in his car first.
As time passed he got to a gas station and filled up his car, he bought some fresh water for Jim's crocodile, Shirley, also getting her some raw meats to eat from the store next to the gas station as well as a few things for himself, Jim, and Hassleberry on the way to Kaiba Corp. He couldn't resist buying for Ruby which was a small bouncy ball that she could play with at any time she wanted as long as it wasn't played around areas it can be easily lost in. As soon as he got in the car Ruby came out of his deck, Johan still was a bit confused over the fact that his duel spirits could become solid after being possessed by Yubel. He didn't mind it as long as it wasn't around strangers; they didn't know he was cool with it. Johan smiled as Ruby got into his lap and laid there after he put his seat belt on, he gave Ruby a few pets before he was on his way to find Jim and Hassleberry.
It took him a while to search each McDonald's until he found the right one, it had at least taken him a few minutes to actually get there but all together since waking up it had been three hours and thirty minutes since he had woken up from his nightmare and needed coffee bad at this point. Ruby stayed in the car and hid herself in a spot where she wouldn't be seen as Johan got out of the car, locking it behind him before heading inside to get his cup of coffee. He would get her something for her while he was inside with Jim and Hassleberry, right now he wanted to freshen himself up again before heading to Kaiba Corp. He spotted the pair at a window table and they also spotted him and they waved to each other before Johan went to the men's restroom.
After he finished his business he walked out shaking his head clear, that dream was plaguing his mind again and he hated it to be honest... He didn't like seeing people getting hurt and that it seemed the dream was far in the past, but the one thing that bothered him was Dark Rainbow Dragon. There was no way that vision of his dragon was impossible in that time frame because it didn't look like the Rainbow Dragon Maximillion Pegesus had created to get them back from the duel monster realm. Johan only had that darker vision because of Yubel and forced his soul into his dragon's body so she/he would be able to take full control and to hurt Judai more in the process. To be fair he couldn't blame her/him, he would have done the same if he had gone through the same pain and had already forgiven Yubel for their actions but the pain he had to go through because of her/him had left a scar on his heart because he never wanted to hurt Judai.
Judai was his long term crush though to be honest with himself he knew it wasn't just a crush deep down, he knew he was in love with Judai but he knew he lost his chance to tell the other of his feelings a long time ago. Johan pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind as he want to the counter and ordered himself something to eat and he got an iced coffee to help keep himself awake, after he got his order he went over to Jim and Hassleberry's table.
"Hey, Hassleberry, Jim," he hummed out before sitting down across from the pair, he put his food on the table in front of him, they still had some food in front of them as well.
"Johan," both greeted him in return, as Johan ate he noticed something was missing.
"Where's Shirley?" He usually never saw Jim without her on his back but then again a crocodile couldn't really come inside a place like this and he wondered where she was at because he hadn't seen her when he pulled up in the parking lot.
"She's back at the place we're temporarily renting, she's gotten older and can't be going everywhere anymore especially now that she has laid a few eggs I rather her stay behind to protect her future hatchlings," Jim explained to him as he finished his food.
"Not only that Jim and I only accepted Kaiba's offer because we needed more land not just because of Shirley and her eggs, we also wanted to expand our family with adopting a child and getting a surrogate mother to have a child with our own DNA," Hassleberry exclaimed excitedly, "and it would be more room for all our friends and you of course Johan to visit us!"
"Calm down, love, let the power poor boy's brain process the information first before dropping more bombs on him," Jim told the other male giving him a kiss on the cheek, earning a few disgusted looks from strangers eating their own food but didn't say anything towards the pair. Johan's brain was trying to figure out what the two were on about, but when it finally clicked in his head he had spit out his coffee he was currently drinking but thankfully it was to the side of him and not towards his own food and two friends.
"WAIT! YOU TWO FINALLY GOT TOGETHER?!" Johan knew how much Jim liked Hassleberry back in their school days but this was a complete shock to hear about the pair finally getting together.
"Yes, me and dino boy have officially started to date two years after the incident in dark world, I believe he confessed first by shouting it out from miles away on a hill while one of his friends recorded and sent it to me," Jim grinned while Hassleberry blushed furiously after Jim had said that.
"I was dared to admit my feelings out loud, I didn't know they had recorded me!" If Judai had been here he would have most likely congratulated the both of them for finally getting together and congratulated his friend for finally confessing his true feelings. Johan could all but smile as he imagined what Judai would do and say to one of his best friends.
"Well we should get going, we don't want Kaiba waiting longer than necessary," Jim all but pointed out, Johan blinked a few times nodding his head in agreement.
"Yeah, let's get going," he got up and went over to the trash can throwing out his trash but feeling bad for spitting out his coffee onto the floor, he walked back to the counter and put money in the donation box before heading out with the other two back to his car.
