Don't forget to read M and N if you haven't yet. They were both posted on the same day so check to see if you read them. Thank you!
O: Opthalmia (near-sighted), obedient
Jack is hanging around Santoff Clausen waiting for the meeting to start. North has a big whiteboard out today which isn't unusual but doesn't happen too often. He only pulls it out when he has a lot of numbers to talk about or arrows to draw when he is talking about the newest route he has planned for Christmas Eve.
Jack is sitting near the back of the room today because the front is too warm due to the fire. Usually they don't have the fire going so Jack can sit closer but the yetis forgot about the meeting and it had already started. Jack didn't mind. He just hoped North didn't ask him to read the board from back here. As soon as Jack though that however, North said, "Jack can you please check to see if you feel this route would be a good one for the year?"
Jack replied, "Sure."
He sat up, leaned forward, and squinted at the board trying to read it.
Bunny asked, "Can't you see that Jack?"
Jack replied, "Not really kangaroo."
"You're not even that far from it. You should get your eyes checked."
"Yeah and where am I supposed to get that done Bunny? I can't just walk into the nearest optometrist and ask them to look into my eyes."
"No. I suppose not. Luckily North has the proper equipment."
"Of course he does." Jack mutters under his breath. "when do you want me to get them checked?"
North replied, "How about right now?""
"I mean, yeah, okay sure I guess. Let's go."
North led Jack down the various hallways until they reached a medium sized room. On one side there was a chair with a contraption with a bunch of different types of circles on it. On the other side of the room was a kidney-shaped table with various machines on it. North had Jack sit on the chair at the kidney table. North went to the other side and had Jack look into the various machines.
The worst one,, according to Jack, had to be the one that blew air into his eyes. It was so hard to keep his eyes open, especially after knowing what was coming! But once that was done, North had Jack go over to the other chair and had him sit on it. North pushed the contraption towards Jack's eyes and repeatedly asked him which he could see better. Jack didn't understand how this worked but he trusted North. During this, North asked him to read the letter chart on the wall. Jack tried and he made it to the fourth or fifth row before he started squinting and by the sixth row he was guessing what the letters were. Then North said he was done. North said, "You need glasses. What kind of frames do you want?"
Jack responded, "Okay. I have no idea what kind of frames I like. You can decide for me."
"Okay. I should have the glasses ready in about a week. Come back to the pole then. Okay?"
"Sure North. See you then."
A week passed, and Jack was back for his glasses. North came out of his office carrying a frosty blue glasses case and handed it to Jack. He opened them and saw dark blue frames. Jack put them on and instantly said, "Wow! Everything is so clear! I had no idea the world was supposed to look like this. I thought everything was supposed to look blurry. I thought it was normal."
"I'm glad they work for you Jack. From now on, we'll check your eyes every year or so to see if the prescription needs to change."
"Okay North. Is that all? I wanna go see the world properly."
"Yes Jack. Go ahead."
"Sweet! See you later." Jack said as he was flying out of the window. Jack's first stop was Jamie's house. He got there just as they were arriving home from school. Jack waited in Jamie's room and when he came in, he was surprised to see Jack.
"Hi! I didn't know you were visiting today."
"I didn't plan to but I can see now!"
"Nice hipster glasses. Can I try them on?"
"Sure." Jack said, handing them over.
"Wow, you're blind" Jamie said, squinting through the glasses.
"Apparently. But not anymore!"
"That's great Jack!"
"I gotta go, but I'll see you later:"
"Bye Jack!"
Jack flew out the window and decided to aimlessly fly around the world looking at all of the things he couldn't see before. It made him happy. He was glad he got his glasses. He visited the others and they all complimented his glasses and he told them North picked them out and he remarked on all the details he couldn't see before such as the patterns on Bunny's fur and Tooth's feathers and Sandy's grains of sand. They all smiled hearing Jack talk about everything he couldn't see before. They were happy for him. Being able to see well is a wonderful thing. They hoped he would always be this excited about being able to see things.
A/N: What's up y'all? I'm back with O. Okay. So, for this chapter I went with ophthalmia and I have no idea where that came from, but I looked it up and turns out it is not being near sighted but we are gonna go with it. This is also like the their iteration of this chapter. I'll post the others on the tumblr, but they are in no way complete. They are unfinished and probs don't even have an ending.
Anyway, I've got the next few chapters done. I am just waiting on them to be edited, then I can post them. I have both P and Q written and some ideas for R. This writing class has been really good for me. I hope to keep this writing up once the semester ends. I don't write for class anymore but for me (slash you) but mostly me. Nothing major in life right now. I am job hunting and my November has a million and one projects due, but I will try to keep writing. But anyway, I hop you enjoyed the chapter. I'll try to post P later this week maybe? Don't hold me to that. It depends on whether my sister edits it or not.
Read, review, and enjoy!
