Q: quack, quiet, quake

In the night sky, if someone is watching closely, they might see what appears to be a boy flying. He sticks out easily. The full moon shines off him, for he has very pale, if not eerily white skin with hair to match.

It is a quiet night, with no clouds in sight. The boy lands on the ground, and frost forms as he walks towards a pond. He crouches beside it and he sees 4 ducklings sitting on the edge. They are dozing but they awake once they hear him approach. But they don't move. They watched him carefully and give a cautious quack towards him. He stops moving for a moment, and slowly, reaches his hand towards them. He stops moving his hand once it is close, but not close enough to to cause the ducklings to leave. He patiently sits there with his hand outstretched. After a seemingly long time, one of the ducklings approaches him, with their head bobbing up and down. The duckling gets close and the boy lifts his hand slowly. The duckling doesn't react so he continues to move his hand towards the duckling's head. The duckling still doesn't move so he begins to pet it. Right after he begins to pet it, the ground begins to shake. The duckling scurries away along with the others. The boy's hand drops to his side and his knees fall to the ground.

He lays back and closes his eyes and simply feels the earth shake underneath him. He doesn't move when it stops quivering. He opens his eyes and stares towards the sky and simply lays there till the sun comes out. At some point he has fallen asleep and he wakes up with the sun. The ducklings are sleeping beside him when he wakes up. Smiling, he gently pets the one closest to him. Then he gets up and flies away from the rising sun. He has other places to be. Or so he tells himself.

A/N: Wassup! I'm back. This one is quite short but I was going for a minimalist feel and the shortness helps. Anyway, I've been busy with the semester ending in 2 weeks but I am still making time to write a little bit each day. I have already finished R and it has been edited. I will probably post it tomorrow or sometime this week because I am just about go to bed as I type this. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter and please don't forget to review!

Also, I was looking at my plans for this story, and I only have 8 more chapters to write! It won't be too much longer before it is done! I think I'll try to finish the story by the end of the year. That would be about a chapter a week I think. Hopefully I manage it. After all this is like the fifth chapter this semester.

Read, review, and enjoy!
