R: rain, rage, recoil, recovery
Jack is standing in a field. There is nothing around him for miles and the moon is hiding. All around him, he can hear the gentle rainfall. He can feel the chill of the rain on his skin and the gentle wind as it blows past him. He is staring up at the sky, looking at where the moon would be.
His thoughts lead him down a path he tried to avoid but it was too late. He wondered, "Why did the Man in the Moon bring me back? Why couldn't I remember who I was? Why was I all alone?" He kept thinking why, why, why. But he never got answers from the moon before he joined the Guardians and he was doubtful MiM would give him answers afterwards. But he couldn't help but wonder about any of the whys.
As the the sounds of rain surrounded him, he heard the light fluttering of wings from nearby. He turned to face them and he saw Tooth. He turned hi head backup to the sky, knowing she wouldn't mind. He knew she was there to talk, and he would, but not yet. They stood together in the rain for quite a while before Jack turned to face her and said, "So, I'm a guardian now."
She responds, "You are. What do you think about it so far?"
"I don't know. Haven't really experienced anything about it yet to have a solid opinion."
"Well, it comes with some perks."
"Yeah? What perks?"
"Well, you get a team, people to rely on. Not a lot of spirits get a whole team."
"I've noticed." Jack sighed. "Spending 300 years with no one willing to talk to you tends to make you notice when you are left out."
"We never meant to leave you out Jack. We simply didn't know."
"Yeah. Well. Any of you could have had a conversation with me. There was nothing stopping you. The only time I ever had a conversation with any of you was with Bunny in '68 but he never let me speak! He only yelled at me and left. So, yeah. I got left out." Jack said as he turned away from Tooth.
Jack crossed his arms and ducked his head down. It was almost like he was hugging himself. He closed his eyes and tried to not cry. He did not want to cry right now but the tears came anyway. All of a sudden, he feels hands wrap around him and he flinched back. He quickly turns towards the hands and then he remembers Tooth is still there. He can see shock and almost guilt written all over her.
He walks towards her and hesitantly wraps his arms around her. Tooth hesitates for a moment before wrapping her arms around him. They stand hugging for what seems to be hours. Eventually, Jack pulls away and Tooth let's go of him. Tooth can see tear tracks on his face but she knows she has some too. Neither mention it.
"We may not have been there for you before Jack, but I swear, we will be there for you now." Tooth promises.
Jack gives her a small smile at that and responds, "I can't believe it yet, but I hope, in time, I can know it to be true."
Then he flies off into the sky, with the rain turning into soft snowflakes. Tooth smiles as she looks at the moon.
A/N: Hey-o. Here's R. A bit on the short side but I feel it is quite good. Its just a little chat between Tooth and Jack that probs needed to happen. I like it. R is a bit late than I promised but it is much better than it could have been considering my past. I hope you enjoyed it.
Please don't forget to review as it makes me want to work more on this than my other stuff like homework or making plans for my future. It also encourages me to post faster. So, please don't forget to review. Thanks!
S is not done yet but I do have a plan. It probably won't be ready for another week or two because my finals are coming up and I have to study for those. But I hope to have this done before the end of the year. Ill have to kick my butt into work if I actually want to accompli that. Here's to hoping.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed!
Read, review, and enjoy!
