Chapter Summary: Orion has finally arrived in Japan. After meeting someone unexpected, It's time for him to take the entrance exam for UA. Will he be able to make it in?

Chapter 2: Entrance Exam

Wednesday, Feb. 22nd, 10:34am, Japan

11 hours. 11 straight hours. Sitting in the same spot, for 11 goddamn hours. Finally arriving in the airport of Tokyo, Japan, Orion tiredly pulls both his suitcases as he walks down the platform into the crowded area. He makes it to an area full of people with signs that had names on them.
"ORION-KUN!" Orion turns to look at the person calling him but can't see anyone.
"ORION-KUN!" He then looks around and finally sees a woman, about his mom's age, waving at him. She is taller than his mom, with thick black glasses and long, spiky dark purple hair. He sees that she is wearing a white sweater with jeans and boots. Orion walks towards, nervously wondering if she was the person his dad said was picking up.
"Orion-Kun, you're finally here!" Said woman jumped up and grabbed him in an embrace, not noticing that she was putting his face right in the middle of her chest.
"I'm assuming you're my friend's mom that is supposed to pick me up?" The teen asks as she lets go of him, not seeing his blush.
"Orion-kun, I'm so disappointed in you. Don't you remember your godmother?" The purple haired woman asks with a teasing grin.
"G-godmother? What do you mean?" Orion was completely taken aback by this. He received a pout from the woman.
"So Amy-chan never told you about me? I guess I'm to blame for visiting you once. Though I'm going to have a word with Amy-chan." Orion then saw the most sadistic smile creep on her face as she pulled one of his suitcases from his hands. "Now let's get going, you only have 4 days till the entrance exam and you must be tired from the flight. Your mom told me the apartment they got you won't be ready till the 27th, so you'll be staying with me for now."
Orion just gulped nervously as he followed her through the airport. As they walked towards the parking garage, a thought popped into his head, he never asked for her name. "Hey, umm what's your name?" He asked her just as they got to her car.
"Oh, I guess I never told you huh? Kayama Nemuri is my name, don't wear it out." the purplette said with a wink. She then opens her truck to put his suitcases in but as it opens, Orion is shocked to see what's in it. In her trunk are various types of whips.
"U-umm Kayama-san, what are these?" Orion looked curiously between the whips and her, while she laughed.
"Oh these are my equipment that I used when I was on patrol. I'm not as active as I used to be since I teach at UA, so I was moving them into storage. Also stop with the formalities, I am your godmother after all." Nemuri said as she put his suitcase in the back.
"So you're a Pro-hero?" Orion asked as he buckled himself in.
"Yes I am. My hero name is Midnight, that's the name your mom suggested. I was a 1st year student when she was a 3rd year. Sorta took me under her wing." The R-rated hero replies as they make their way out of the parking garage.
"Nemuri Kayama - Hero Name: Midnight - Quirk: Somnambulist - Her body emits a type of sleep-inducing aroma to people near her. It usually works more on men than it does on women."
"So Orion-kun, why don't you tell me your quirk?" Nemuri says with a sly smirk.
"Ah, ah, ah. Since you're a UA teacher, that means you'll be watching the exams, right?" The teen asks her and gets a nod of approval. "Well then you'll just have to wait." He says with a smirk. Nemuri leaned over and pinched his cheek.
"You're some cheeky kid huh, Orion-kun."
Orion looks out the window, taking in all the sighs of Japan, his new home. After a hour drive, Orion and Nemuri arrive at her apartment. After unpacking, Orion decides that it's time to turn in. For the Next 3 days, Orion spends sightseeing with Nemuri while also making sure to work out. Finally after 4 days, the day of the entrance exam is here.

Sunday, Feb. 26th, 8:45am, UA High School

Orion stands in front of the UA High school gates, wearing his version of a Japanese middle school uniform. He takes a breath and takes his first step into what could possibly be his new life for the next 3 years.
Orion walks through the gate and towards the auditorium, for his written exam. As he follows the other teens, he turns his head after hearing some yelling to his right. He sees a kid with messy green hair, floating in mid-air. He watches as a brown haired girl stands him back up. Orion lets out a laugh as continues to walk.
After he registers, he gets his seat number and makes his way to it. After another 30 minutes, he checks his clock and sees that it's 9:30 am. Just as he was about to look around he hears music playing around the stage as a blonde man with a black leather jacket walks on stage.
"COME ON AND LET ME HEAR YA!" the blonde yells out but all he gets is silence.
"Well that didn't go like he wanted." Orion thinks as the man continues to talk.
"Hizashi Yamada - Hero Name: Present Mic - Quirk: Voice - his quirk allows him to increase the volume of his voice, giving him an ability that is similar to a sonic scream. The sound from Hizashi's Quirk is strong enough to cause people's ears to bleed from far away."
"ALRIGHT LADIES AND GENTS, TODAY YOU WILL BE TAKING NOT ONLY THE WRITTEN EXAM BUT THE PRACTICAL EXAM AS WELL, YA DIG! AFTER THE WRITTEN PORTION IS OVER THEN YOU'LL HEAD OVER TO YOUR DESIGNATED EXAM AREA." The blonde tells them as he walks around the stage.
Orion tries to listen but hears someone mumbling behind him, so he turns around to find the same messy green haired kid from earlier. "What is his deal?" Orion thinks as the blonde
"ALRIGHT LADIES AND GENTS, TURN YOUR PAPER OVER AND LET'S GET STARTED!" Present Mic yells out as a timer appears on the screen behind him.
Orion turns his paper around and looks over all the questions. They have the basic stuff any test has; math, Japanese, and most importantly. Hero regulations. "Thank you, mom and dad." Orion silently thanks his parents for his training.

Saturday, Feb. 25th, 5:45 pm, San Francisco

"ACHOO!"
"You okay, babe?" Amy asks her husband.
"Yea, no I'm fine. I-it's just I don,t know, I feel like a proud father." Jared replies to his wife.
"Umm, am I bothering you love birds?" The man in front of them asks.
"No !" both Hart's say in unison.

Back in the UA, 1 hour later

After an hour of answering questions and going over their answers, the timer on the screen finally stops as an alarm sound starts to ring. Soon all of the teens get their papers collected as Present Mic walks out on stage once more.
"ALRIGHT FOLKS LIKE YOUR APPLICATION SAID, TODAY YOU ROCKIN' BOYS AND GIRLS WILL BE CONDUCTING 15 MINUTES IN SUPER-HIP URBAN SETTINGS. OKAY, LET'S CHECK OUT YOUR TARGETS. THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF FAUX VILLAINS IN EVERY BATTLE CENTER. YOU'LL EARN POINTS BASED ON THEIR LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY. YOUR GOAL IS TO SHRED THROUGH THE VILLAINS LIKE A MID-SONG GUITAR SOLO. YA DIG?! NOW TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR DESIGNATED ARENA AND GET OUT THERE." The pro-hero informs them.
Orion looks at his card and sees that his letter is B. Orion looks around and wonders who else is in the same arena. "It's probably so people won't team up with their friends." He then hears something behind him, once again. He turns around, only to find the same green haired kid, mumbling to himself once again. "Again?" He thinks
"Excuse me!" Someone from the crowd asks, getting the spotlight to focus on him.
"Here on the info paper they list 4 villains, not 3. If this is a mistake from UA, then this is shameful. I expect more from a prestigious school like UA. Also, you with the unkempt hair, you've been mumbling this entire time, stop that. If you can't be serious then leave before you distract us." The blue haired teen loudly says, while wave his arms in a weird motion.
"THANKS FOR CALLING IN, EXAMINEE #7-1-1-1, THAT FOURTH ONE IS WORTH 0 POINTS. IT'S REALLY JUST THERE AS AN OBSTACLE, THAT DOESN'T MEAN IT'S UNBEATABLE, IT'S JUST THERE ISN'T ANY POINTS!" The pro replies.
"I see, very well. I apologize for the interruption, please continue." The glasses wearing teen sits back down.
"ALRIGHT WELL THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE FOLKS. ARE YOU READY TO GO BEYOND? LET ME HEAR A PLUS ULTRA!" Once again all he gets is nothing but silence.

Training Ground Beta, Arena B, 10:45 am

After Present Mic dismisses them, Orion heads towards the men's locker room. After a quick change into a pair of compression shorts that reach just above his knees and an all black shirt. Orion decided to not wear any shoes since it wouldn't matter.
"I don't even know why I'm wearing a shirt. It's gonna be gone when it starts." The brown haired teen thinks as he walks towards his gate. After arriving at his gate, he looks around at the other examinees. He sees a huge guy with a mask over his face but the most distinct feature of the guy is his extra 4 arms that are connected to his other two.
As he continues to look around, something catches his eyes. He sees a girl, standing off by herself, with short purple hair. She's wearing black leggings with boots and a white tank top. But the thing that catches his eyes are the earphone jacks at the bottom of her ears.
"Wow…" Orion whispers out, not knowing he said it outloud. Suddenly the girl turns her head towards him, locking eyes with him.
"Ehh!" Orion lets out as he turns his head away, turning bright red. Orion decides to make his way towards the front of the line, to get through faster. Orion begins to stretch his legs and arms while someone approaches him.
"Get out of the way, extra!" the person next to him yells out. Orion looks up and sees a red eyed, ash blonde haired teen, with a scowl on his face, coming towards him. Orion gets up just as the blonde bumps into him.
"Watch it, you damn extra." The angry teen growls.
"You're the one who bumped into me." Orion growls back, baring his teeth. The blond was about to say something but was interrupted by the loud speaker.
"ALRIGHTY FOLKS, LET'S GET STARTED!" The Voice quirk user yells out as the gate begins to open.
"Well, it's show time I guess." Orion thinks as shakes his whole body. Slowly, Orion's body begins to morph all over. His whole body begins to grow in size while his hair starts to grow, reaching his shoulders. His skin starts to get replace with yellow fur, covered in spots, while his hands starts to grow claws. His legs start to curve and look more animalistic. His ears and nose start to change while his shirt is completely ripped off, while also revealing his tail.. The only skin that is still shown is on his chest and abs.
Everyone just stares at the new monstrous form that replaced Orion. Orion now stands at least at 11ft. Orion gets down on all four as the gate finally fully opens and with amazing speed heads straight into the arena.
"Orion Hart - Quirk: Leopard - His quirk allows him to morph his body into either a full large leopard or a leopard/human hybrid. While in his hybrid form his speed and strength are increased almost comparable to a pro-hero. The only downside to his quirk is he can only spend 2 hours max in his hybrid form and 30 mins in his leopard form before his animalistic side takes over."
"WELL, EXAMINEE #6-2-1-4, HAS THE RIGHT IDEA. CRIME WAITS FOR NOW ONE GO, GO, GO! YOU'RE WASTING AIR TIME HERE!" Present Mic shouts as a timer of 10 minutes appears.
"Trying to upstage me, fur-face? Like hell you will!" The ash blonde yells out as he uses explosions to launch himself.
Orion pays no attention as he finds a group of 3 point robots and easily destroys them with his claws. For the next several minutes Orion uses his speed to destroy any robot he can find in his path.

Viewing Room, 10:50 am

"Seems like we have an interesting bunch." A dark figure says.
"Yes, this year's group seems to be better than normal." Another says as they watch all the different arenas on multiple screens.

Arena B, 10:51 am, UA High School.

Orion smashes another 3 point robot when he suddenly hears a scream. He turns his head to find two teens surrounded by 3 robots. Without thinking, he quickly shifts his body and with amazing speed, lunges towards their direction. He uses a kick to destroy one while digging his claws into another robot and ripping it in half.
"Are you two okay?" the large hybrid asks.
"Y-yes, thank y-you." One teen says as they run away.
Orion looks around and in the corner of his eye, catches a glimpse of purple. He turns and sees the same girl from earlier, using her earphone jacks to plug into her boots and letting out an attack. Just as Orion was about to turn he sees a robot sneaking in from behind and lunges at it. He destroys the robot, surprising the girl it was trying to attack. Orion locks eyes with her as he gets off the robot. Orion gives the girl a nod and heads off to find more robots.
Finally after 10 minutes, the alarm rings to end the exam. Orion removes his claws from a 2 point robot and starts to morph back into his normal form. He catches people stare at him while he shrinks back to his normal height. As he begins to walk back to the gate, he feels someone tap his shoulder. He turns around and looks down to find the purplette from earlier.
"Hey, I just wanted to thank you earlier. I really appreciate it." The purple haired girl says as she twirls her earphone jack.
"O-oh it's no problem, I just did what any hero would do." Orion replies while scratching his cheek.
"Well thanks anyway, I'm Kyoka Jirou."
"It's nice to meet you, Jirou-san. I'm Orion Hart, but you can just call me Orion."
"Just call me Jirou, don't be so formal. By the way, are you not japanese?"
"Oh is my Japanese that bad?"
"O-Oh no, I was just wondering since you it's looks to me that you're american." She says as her earphone jacks go haywire and tangle themselves. "Dang it."
Orion lets out a small laugh and grabs her earphone jack and untangles them for her, making her turn beat red. After helping her, they both walk back to the locker rooms and say goodbye. After changing, he waits another hour for Nemuri and together they head home.

March 5th, 12:48 pm, Orion's apartment

It's been a week since Orion took the entrance exam and has been waiting for the results. As Orion is returning from the gym he opens his door to find a letter on the floor with the UA logo stamped on it. After a quick shower, he goes to Nemuri's apartment to open the letter with her.
"I'm surprised you didn't open it yet." She admits to the teen.
"Well since my parents aren't here, I thought why not open it with my godmother. So what do you say? Let's open it shall we?" Orion smirks as he rips open the letter, finding a disk and a letter in it. Nemuri takes the disk and presses a button and a small screen appears form it.
"I AM HERE….AS A PROJECTION!" yells out a large blond man.
"HELLO YOUNG ORION, I AM ALL MIGHT, YOUR NEW HEROICS TRAINING SENSEI. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED WITH YOUR PERFORMANCE YOUNG MAN. NOT ONLY DID YOU SHOW YOUR ABILITIES IN COMBAT BUT ALSO YOUR ABILITY TO PUT YOURSELF AT RISK FOR OTHER, THAT IS THE TRUE ESSENCE OF BEING A HERO." All Might says while giving a thumbs up.
Orion watches with wide eyes as he is told that they were impressed. Nemuri smiles and she happily shakes his shoulders.
"IN THE WRITTEN EXAM YOU PLACED 1ST, THAT ITSELF IS AMAZING. FOR THE PRACTICAL I AM PROUD TO SAY THAT YOU EARNED 67 VILLAIN POINTS, PLACING YOU IN 2ND PLACE."
"Wow, 2nd place? Nice going Orion-kun." Nemuri teases as she hugs him.
"BUT NOT ONLY DID YOU SHOW YOUR COMBAT ABILITIES, BUT YOU ALSO SHOWED THE TRUE ESSENCE OF BEING A HERO. YOU WENT OUT OF YOUR WAY AND SAVED AS MANY OF YOUR FELLOW EXAMINEES. WHAT KIND OF HERO PROGRAM WOULD WE BE IF WE DIDN'T REWARD THOSE WHO SAVE OTHER. WITH THAT BEING SAID YOU ALSO RECEIVED 50 RESCUE POINTS. THAT PUTS YOU AT 117 TOTAL POINTS, RANKING YOU 1ST IN THE EXAMS. WELCOME, YOUNG ORION. WELCOME TO THE HERO ACADEMIA!"
Orion stares at the screen, not paying attention to Nemuri as she screams with excitement. Tears begin to form in his eyes as he looks at All Might congratulate him. Orion then smiles as he hugs his godmother and decides to call his parents.
"I made it. I'm one step closer." Those were Orion's last thoughts before calling his parents.

Author's notes: Well here is chapter 2. Yes I did base his quirk on another anime character's power. Try to guess which anime and which character it's from. Also yes I decided to go with Jirou just because I like her as a character. Please leave a review and let me know how it is. Ja-Ne.
