Chapter 3: First Day

Sunday, April 9th, U.A. High School
Today is the day. The first day of his journey to be a hero. Orion stands before the gate of UA, his brown highlighted hair blowing in the wind. Looking down, he looks at his outfit. The standard UA uniform with a loose tie and unbuttoned shirt.
"It's time." The brunette thinks to himself.
He takes his first steps into his new school and starts to make his way towards his class. While he does, he makes sure to take in every inch of UA. After checking the school map once more, he finally reaches his destination. Looking at the door, he saw that it read 1-A. He reaches for the door knob but his hand is swatted away. He looks slightly down and sees the same blonde from the entrance exam.
"Move out the way! Extras should be going in before me!" The blonde yelled. As the blonde enters, Orion can't help but let out a low growl.
"Woah, calm down there tiger." A familiar voice calls out. Orion turns around and sees a familiar mop of purple hair.
"Ah, Jirou. I was hoping to see you here." Orion brightly says.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's get inside." She pushes Orion into the classroom, not letting him see her smile and blush.
After the two walk in, they check the seating chart and head to their designated seats. Orion finds himself once more being near the loud mouth blonde, who's name he learned to be Bakugo Katsuki.
After a few more minutes, more and more students begin to walk in. One of the students that stood out was a blue haired teen with glasses, who started reminding everyone of the rules, especially Bakugo. Orion ignored the argument between 'glasses' and Bakugo until the door opened just before classes started.
Standing in the doorway was the same green haired kid from the entrance exams. From his head not only did he hear Bakugo yell out an insult towards "Deku" but he also watched in amusement as the glasses wearing guy, known as Iida Tenya, introduced himself. He then sees a brown haired girl join the duo near the entrance.
"Are you three gonna stand there or are you going to start holding hands?" Orion hears a lazy toned voice ask.
Orion looks down at the trio's feet and sees a pale looking man in a yellow sleeping bag. The man then starts drinking a baggy full of juice as he gets out of the sleeping bag.
"It took you three 13 seconds to shut up, not very impressive. If you three are here to make friends, then I suggest you leave now." The man watched as the trio quickly made their way to their seats and then made his way to the front of the class.
"Welcome to U.A. and to class 1-A. My name is Aizawa Shota but you can just call me Aizawa-sensei." The pale man lazily said. Orion couldn't help but think "Sounds like he'd rather be sleeping than here."
"Now inside your desk are these gym uniforms, tailored to your measurements. Get changed and head out to the P.E. Grounds." With that being said, he walked out. All the students grabbed their uniforms and headed to the locker rooms.

P.E. Ground, UA High School
After all the students changed into their gym uniforms, which were a pair of dark blue sweats with a dark blue shirt. Aizawa waits till all of his new students show up and then begins to explain why they are here but is interrupted by the same brown haired girl from before.
"U-um, Aizawa-sensei? Aren't we going to miss orientation?" The brunette asks. All she gets in return is a large sigh.
"Do you really want to be at a pointless ceremony? Here in U.A., we aren't much for tradition so I can run my class how I see fit. Now today we are going to be performing a quirk assessment test."
"A quirk assessment test?" The class asked in unison.
"All your life you have been given standard tests and exams but never at full capacity. Well today we'll be doing just that. Hart, you managed to get the most points in this year's entrance exam, correct?" Aizawa points out.
"Yes, sensei." Answered the american. All the students in 1-A look at him with wide eyes except for one.
"What the hell?! How did you get more points than me, I got 77." The ash blonde yells out in rage.
"I got 117." Orion says while not even glancing at Bakugo. Aizawa clears his throat, not liking where this was going.
"Anyways, here." He tosses a ball to Orion, who catches it swiftly.
"I want you to throw it as far as you can, with your quirk. Just try and stay in the circle." Aizawa steps back as Orion walks out towards the circle.
Orion bounces the ball in his hands while he stares off into the distance. He then starts removing his shirt and shoes. This causes most of his classmates to freak out over his action, especially the blue haired rule follower Iida.
"Hart-san, why are you removing your clothes? It is highly inappropriate and is not tolerated here in U.A.." The glasses wearing students say, moving his arms in a chopping motion.
"Sorry, it's just with my quirk I'll just end up ripping it. Also can everyone stop calling me Hart and just call me Orion from now on." Orion throws his shirt and shoes to the side and shows off his chest.
Everyone looks at him and notices four claw mark types of scars running over his chest. Orion notices their stares and gives them a small smile. He explains that they are from the time his quirk appeared. He then turns his hand to them and starts morphing.
Slowly his body begins to grow in size while fur begins to grow all over his body, except for his midsection. His hands begin to grow claws while his legs start to curve and change shape. His hair starts to grow to the length of his shoulders while his mouth morphs into the snout of a leopard. The finishing touch was the growth of a long tail behind him. Everyone looks at the giant 11ft monstrosity before them.
"Alright, get on with it. You're wasting time here." Aizawa annoyingly orders.
Orion gives him a nod as he grabs the ball in his left hand. He looks at his classmates, more specifically at the purple haired girl. He then motions for her to cover her ears, earning a nod from Jirou. He then starts to wind up his arm while lifting his right leg, just like a baseball player. He then throws the ball using all his strength.
The ball starts flying through the air, while making a large gust of wind. Orion takes a breath as he slowly starts to change back to his normal form. He looks towards Jirou and sees her removing her hands from her ears. The ball finally slows down and falls to the ground. Seeing this, Aizawa turns his attention to his students.
"All of you need to know your full capabilities, it's the most logical way to show me your potential as a future pro-hero." Aizawa points out as he turns to his class and shows them the distance Orion threw. It read, 812.3 meters.
"812 meters? You've got to be kidding." A blonde student says.
"I want to try it now, it looks like fun." A pink skinned girl loudly says.
"So you think this is fun?" Those works make all of the students look at their sensei.
"You have three years to become heroes and you think it's going to be fun all the way through. Today you will all be competing in 8 physical tests to test your potential. The person who comes in last tells me they have none and will be immediately expelled, how's that for fun." Aizawa looks all around and stops his gaze directly at the green haired boy.
"Like I said before, I run this class how I see fit. If you don't like it then tough luck, you can leave whenever you want. Understand?" Aizawa grins at their shocked faces.
"That's totally not fair. It's our first day and we're already being exposed to being expelled?" A brunette whines.
"Are natural disasters fair? What about a murderous villain? No, that's why here in U.A. we give out unfair situations. We prepare our students for unfair things. So go beyond, plus ultra style." Aizawa wiggles his pointer finger, telling them to come closer. "Show me it's not a mistake for you to be here"
Test 1: 50 Meter Dash.
Orion watches the first two people step into position to start the race. One of them is Iida and the other is a green haired girl. As soon as the gun goes off, Iida speeds through the 50 meter while the green haired girl quickly jumps to the finish line.
"Iida Tenya - Quirk: Engine - With the engines in his calves, he can run at an amazing speed."
"At this distance, I can really only get to 3rd gear." the glasses wearing student points out, finishing the race in 2.54 seconds.
"That was still pretty fast, gero." The green haired girl says, finishing in 5.58 seconds.
"Asui Tsuyu - Quirk: Frog - She can basically do anything a frog can."
While those two move to join the rest of their class, Orion is the next one up along with a pink skinned girl. Orion keeps his shirt and shoes off and morphs into his hybrid form. The pink skinned girl cautiously stands next to him in position. Orion gives her a nod as he two gets in position. As soon as the gun goes off, both runners bolt from their starting position. Orion finishes his run with amazing speed, almost as fast as Iida while the Pink girl finishes soon after.
"Wow, you're seriously fast my guy. Names Ashido Mina, pleased to meet ya." the girl, Ashido, extends her hand out to Orion. She finished in 5.32 seconds. Orion morphs back to normal and takes her hand.
"Thank you, Ashido-san. Your quirk isn't so bad either." The brunette points out, finishing in 3.01 seconds.
"Ashido Mina - Quirk: Acid - She can produce a corrosive liquid from her body. She can control the solubility and viscosity of this corrosive liquid."
Orion walks back to the group and watches all the races and eventually learns all of their names. He quickly learns all of his classmate's names eventually and now they're down to the last person, Midoriya Izuku. He is the last person to finish the ball throwing test. As Midoriya steps forward, he listens to Bakugo go on a rant about Midoriya being quirkless.
As Midoriya gets ready to throw, Orion's picks up on a sound behind them. Even without being in his hybrid form, he still has all of his senses heightened. He turns around to see a large blonde man in a golden suit. That man is All Might.
"Why is all might hiding back there?" the leopard quirk users thinks to himself.
Orion then hears the ball hit the ground. He turns around to see Midoriya's throw only a few feet away from him and their sensei's scarf is wrapped around him. He turns to Bakugo and sees him smirking while Aizawa starts speaking to Midoriya.
Eventually, Aizawa lets go of Midoriya and everyone begins to wonder what Aizawa says to him. Orion heard the entire conversation but decided to keep that to himself. He moves closer to the front and watches Midoriya make his throw. Orion closely watches as Midoriya starts to throw the ball and notices that his finger begins to glow and he quickly makes his way towards a certain someone.
Jirou is watching Mirdoirya start his throw, but just as Midoriya throws the ball she feels someone cover her ears. She turns around and finds Orion smiling at her. He lets her go and walks back to his original spot. Jirou just stares at him as Aizawa stops Bakugo from attacking Midoriya.
Finally, the physical tests are over and the class gathers together to get the results. Aizawa activates the hologram and the results appear. The top 5 are as follows;
Hart, Orion
Yaoyorozu, Momo
Todoroki, Shoto
Bakugo, Katsuki
Iida, Tenya
Orion looks through the list and notices that the last person on the list is the green haired kid, Midoriya Izuku. Orion looks around and notices Bakugo seething with rage at the list.
"Fourth?! How can I be ranked after that stupid furball? I'm way better than him!" the explosion quirk users growls out. Aizawa clears his throat and everyone sees him smirk.
"By the way, I was lying. No one is getting expelled. That was just a tactic to make you all try your hardest." Aizawa grins as seeing their gaping mouths.
"I can't believe you all haven't figured that out. I guess I should have said something." Momo admits.
"Yea, maybe you should have." Was the unison thought.
"Alright that's it for today. Get changed and head on home. Make sure to pick up a syllabus and read it before tomorrow." Aizawa starts walking away but not before sending Midoriya to the nurse to fix his finger.

Locker Rooms, UA High School
After quickly changing back into his uniform, Orion exits the locker rooms and starts to head towards the entrance gate. As he is walking down the hall, his phone vibrates as he receives a message.

~Aunt Nemuri chat~
Aunt Nemuri: Sorry I couldn't see you for your first day, had a lot of paperwork to do.
Fur-ball: It's Ok
Aunt Nemuri: So how was it? I heard you Shota-san has you guys doing some tests. Did you show off to some girls or what?
Fur-ball: It was alright, I did land first place in the tests though. Also, no I didn't show off too much.
Aunt Nemuri: Boo. Well how about we have a family dinner at the end of the week to celebrate your first week at U.A. huh?
Fur-ball: Deal! I
Aunt Nemuri: Alright, be safe on your way home!

After getting that last message, Orion looks up and sees his new favorite person. He quickly runs up to the short purple haired girl and sees her switching the song on her phone. He taps her shoulder to get her attention.
"Yo, Jirou." Orion casually says.
"Oh, yo. Are you walking to the station too?" the earphone jacked users asks.
"Yup, I'm staying in a studio apartment in the Shizuoka Prefecture." The brunette points out.
"No way, I'm heading there too. Why don't we walk together?" The two classmates make their way to the station and hop on just before the train is taking off. Orion glances at Jirou and sees her fixing her playlist.
"So I'm guessing you're into punk rock?" Orion asks his classmate.
"Of course but I'm also into a lot of other genres. How about you? Do you have a favorite genre?" Jirou curiously asks. Orion gives her a small grins as he pulls his phone out and hands it to her. He can literally see Jirou's jaw hit the ground as she scrolls through his music.
"Dude, this is really good music. I completely forgot about pre-quirk era music. This is amazing." Jirou excitedly whispers.
"Yeah, my mom is the reason I listen to this type of music. She actually has several of these songs in their original record album style. It was passed down from generation to generation, kinda like a family heirloom. When I came here to Japan, she gave them to me as a goodbye present." Orion softly smiles as Jirou stares at him in awe.
"Do you miss them?" Jirou carefully asks.
"Of course, they're my parents." Orion admits.
"Well maybe someday, you can show me the records." Jirou suggested, getting a large smile from the teen next to her.
"I'd like that."

Author's Note: Okay here is another chapter. This is a little different take on the quirk assessment test. Originally it shows you the point of view of Izuku and focuses more on Aizawa and Izuku. I wanted to focus more on Jirou and Orion, that's why I skipped a lot of the Aizawa and Izuku scenes and finished the assessments quickly. I'm currently working on this along with my other story "Arranged meeting" so check that out. Anyways I'm having trouble coming up with a hero name so drop some suggestions and leave a review.
