[Everett, WA]

Bella looked out the window of the office she was standing in with Charles Swan. Will was in infirmary being treated and Christina wasn't leaving his side. Jasper, Lukas and Tris stayed with Bella so they were also in the office now.

Bella crossed her arms. "So. This city…"

"Everett." Charles supplied. "It's just one of the cities in the hub."

"Hub?" Lukas asked.

Charles's dark eyes darted over to Lukas and then back to Bella. "Seattle is not the only city out there. Seattle was an experiment as was many of the other cities in the hub. People were divided based on purity."

"What does that mean?" Bella asked.

"Seattle calls people that are pure, Divergents." Charles said.

Tris frowned. "Divergents threaten the faction system. They have to be put down or stopped."

Charles raised a brow. "Well, that's not true." He said. "Actually I suspect Jeanine Matthews is much to blame for that." He said and sighed. "Six years ago, we uncovered a capsule. That capsule gave us information that the founding fathers left to help with the future of humanity. That capsule talked about Divergents and how it was important to find these individuals and follow their lead. Of course, those that were already Divergent, had been hiding for such a long time, because Jeanine's father, Miles Matthews, hated the thought of Divergents and had threatened the extinction of Divergents. So many of us went into hiding for that very reason. Some of us still function within the confines of the faction system. Until we can't anymore."

"We?" Bella asked.

"Yes, I am Divergent. As are you, as is your brother." Charles said. "There are many others that are Divergent and one of them is in this room." He said, his eyes falling on Jasper.

Jasper pursed his lips. "You have a file on every Divergent that exists?"

Charles chuckled. "Not since I left. You were a promising young man in Erudite the last time I set eyes on you. Johana was sure you were Divergent back then and she wasn't wrong."

Bella turned and looked at Jasper. "You've been Divergent this entire time… why didn't Eric tell me?"

"Because Eric didn't do my fear landscape. Four did." Jasper said. "And Four didn't tell Eric obviously." He said and ran a hand through his blonde hair. "Charlie, you were dead. That is the report that spread through Seattle."

"Of course I had help faking my death. Natalie and Andrew along with Johanna got me out of the city. I knew that the capsule gave important details on other cities and I found Everett quickly. Everett listened to the information on the capsule." Charlie said.

Bella stared at him, a surge of anger hitting her and tears hit the surface unexpectedly but she pushed them away. "You left me in Abnegation." She said, her tone flat.

"I didn't want to. Natalie fought me on it. I wanted to bring you back to Dauntless. Bella… it was dangerous for you to be there back then. Natalie was right to fight me on it."

"I grew up thinking something was wrong with me. I doubted everything." Bella shook her head. "I grew up missing out on an opportunity of knowing my brother. My flesh and blood." She looked at her dad. "You left me."

Charles eyes softened. "I loved you so much. You have no idea how… how it hurt to leave you there. If I could have managed to get you out of Seattle when I did, I would have. You and Eric both, because you two were and still are my world." He said. "Bella, you grew up into an amazing woman. I knew you would be."

Tris's mouth dropped open. "Wait. What's going on?"

Lukas cleared his throat. "Charles is Bella's biological father… and he is also Eric's father. Making them sister and brother."

Tris's green eyes swiveled back to Bella. "Are you serious? And you knew?"

"I don't have to tell you everything. I don't have to explain myself either."

"This is why you're being a bitch towards me. Because you're not really my sister."

"Tris." Lukas started but Bella interjected.

"No, that's not it. It's because you have been acting pissy because you're about to be booted from Dauntless because you should have stayed in Abnegation." Bella said and ran a hand through her hair. "We still have 5 days of exploration to do and so far you're proving me right about not being Dauntless material. You challenge my authority because you're pissed off. I'm not going to sugarcoat anything for you. You either get with the program and be Dauntless or you'll go factionless."

Tris growled. "And you? You're only good at being Dauntless because you're Divergent, which is illegal in our city."

"No, I'm good at Dauntless because I'm strong. I know what I'm doing. I earned my stripes by fighting my ass off for it. Was it you that went through the gauntlet? Have you been stabbed multiple times, assaulted in a shower? Have you killed a person?" Bella raised her voice at Tris and she was met with silence. "I didn't think so. The only reason why you're alive is because Uriah was too fucking scared to take you out because he didn't want me to do anything to him during the sparring games." She said. "If it wasn't for my protection over you, you would be ashes right now, just like Al."

Tris launched herself at Bella, but Bella's reflexes were too fast for Tris to react. Her knee came up at the same time Bella spun Tris's face down and struck Tris in the face with her knee. Tris's nose crunched under the impact and she screamed at Bella and tried to claw at her, but Bella's elbow busted her in the same spot, breaking her nose completely. Tris growled, tears coming to the surface from the pain and then Bella backfisted her, knocking her out.

Charles didn't move. He let Bella handle Tris the way she wanted, but he gave a nod. "Demetri, get her to a guest quarters." He said to the man that was standing at the door. His dark hair was slicked at the sides and his dark eyes were impressed with Bella's speed. He bent down and hoisted Tris up, tossing her onto his shoulder before leaving the office. "Bella. I would like for you to stay here… in Everett. I think that it's better this way. Going back to Seattle… there's so much going on that you can end up on the wrong end of what Jeanine is planning."

Bella looked at her father, her blue-green eyes showing a fierce fire in them. "Do you have a way to see inside Seattle?"

Charles nodded. "I do and it doesn't look good. There's a war brewing. Jeanine wants power and she will take it by any means."

"Then I have to go back. I have to protect my city from her."

"It's dangerous. If they find out you're Divergent…"Charles said with a shake of his head.

Lukas spoke up. "I think it's a good idea to leave Will and Chris here. At least then they are safe from this fallout."

Bella looked at Lukas. "I think you're right. But I can't leave everyone here. I can't be the only person to walk back into Seattle. "

"You won't be." Jasper said. "I'll be right by your side."

"Jasper, you're Divergent, it's dangerous for you too."

"I've survived this long." Jasper said.

"And me. I'll never leave your side. You know that." Lukas said softly. "We go back in five days. We bring the soil samples and we face the war together."

Charles nodded. "Okay. Well, if you're going to do that. Then I have some weapons that you can bring back. Hide them, I don't care how. But we're more advanced here. It's why I can see into Seattle without anyone knowing. The weapons will help you if you can get close enough to Jeanine."

"Oh, I can get close to Jeanine." Bella said. "Max has a lot hanging on me with this expedition."

"Well." Charles said. "There have been other expeditions before you. Max knows how to tell a lie. There were two expeditions before Eric's time too. He was a kid and likely doesn't remember it, but there was a mission led by Jonathan Prior."

"Grandpa?" Bella's brows furrowed. "He was in Abnegation."

"Only after the expedition. He was Dauntless leadership. The radioactive fields East of the city messed with his mind. That's how he ended up Factionless. But Irene Hawkins, fell in love with him anyways and they had Andrew." Charles explained.

Bella shook her head. "Why wouldn't Max tell us about the other missions?"

"I don't know." Charles said with a shrug. "Max is… sinister. You have to watch your back around him. He always has some ulterior motive."

Lukas crossed his arms. "So, sending Bella out here on a mission… he has a reason for it."

"Probably. I have been rather busy here so I haven't monitored things as closely as I should have been." Charles admitted. There was a knock on the door and Charles looked towards it. "Come in."

A girl walked in. Her hair was dark, braided and hung down past her shoulders a little. Her eyes were large and round, and were the color of small chocolates. She was younger than Bella, by a good seven years and she was petite. "Father, mother wants to know when you will be home for dinner, or shall I let her know that you will be staying in the office?"

Charles nodded. "Yes, tell mom that Bella is here."

The girl looked at Bella. "Oh, you are her. It's a pleasure to meet my big sister finally. I am Annalie." Her voice was small and sweet and when she smiled, she smiled with her whole face.

Bella looked at the girl, a little shocked that she had another sibling. She nodded. "Bella." She said and looked back at Charles. "I um…."she felt a little choked up inside.

"Anna, we'll be back for dinner. Tell her to set a place for three extra guests." Charles said sweetly.

"Okay father." Annalie said with a bow and left.

Bella looked at Charles, a strange look on her face. "How many…"

"How many what?"

"How many children of yours exist? The rumors in Seattle… I…."

"Eric and you are my only children in Seattle. I can promise you those rumors are untrue. I was very committed to Eric's mother when she allowed me to be. Renee was… a passion moment, Renee and I… we just didn't last." Charles said. "But… Moira. She is a good woman. She helped me when I arrived here in Everett. Anna… she's thirteen. I adopted her when I married Moira. And she has an older son, he's twenty. His name is Samuel. But… we have two sons, Sebastian and Silas, five and four…. and a daughter, Scarlett who is two. And… Moira is currently expecting again. Twins." He explained. "Um, boy, girl twins. We haven't picked names yet."

Bella felt a tear roll down her cheek. "You… have a whole family." She murmured. "I… I'm a big sister." She wiped her face.

Lukas set his hands on Bella's shoulders, comforting her. "I think… we need to um-"

"I want to meet them." Bella suddenly said, her blue-green eyes fierce now. Determined.

"Dinner will be ready soon. Of course. And you and Lukas can stay at the house. Demetri will have rooms prepared for Jasper and Chris at the boarding house." He said with a nod.

Bella swallowed. "Okay." Her voice felt tight in her throat, like there was no way out.

Jasper cleared his throat. "After dinner, I would like a word with you Charles."

"Of course." Charles said with a simple nod. "For now…. let's eat."

Bella looked at the colonial style house. It was beautiful and it was large. She learned that Charlie was the leader there in Everett. He was voted as the president, a more ancient term, but people loved Charlie. Everyone was Divergent or a supporter of Divergent. They had figured out that there were several other cities within the hub that had communications with Everett stretching as far as the East coast. Seattle was reset before there could be intervention, the reason why the other hub cities weren't allowed to step in and help Seattle, was because it was strictly forbidden. The growth of the city had happen naturally and the goal was to assimilate Seattle into the hub once they discovered the ultimate goal, but people like Max and Jeanine, made it hard to assimilate since Jeanine and Max fought the Divergents. Allowing Seattle into the hub when it was so volatile, would break the hub system, and that wasn't something the hub was willing to sacrifice.

Moira was small and still had a youthful glow to her. She was forty-two and the pregnancy now, was going to be the last for her and Charles. Charles was six years Moira's senior. They seemed to be evenly paired. Moira was so nice. Her dark hair fell in tumbling waves towards her waist and her delicate features were smooth and didn't show a sign of aging, so she wore forty-two well. Her dark eyes were like a hazel brown, a glimmer of green in there somewhere, but it was clear that the brown eye trait was strong amongst the children. Samuel was tall, strong and had bronzed skin. His father had died when Annalie was born, so the two siblings shared a lot of the same traits face wise. Samuel went by Sam most of the time, and Bella liked him okay even though he was more serious than the others. All of the children were well behaved and sweet. Silas was the oldest of Charles's other children. He was five and Sebastian was four. They both had dark shaggy hair and favored each other and if Bella hadn't been told they were five and four, she would have thought they were twins. Scarlett was so adorable. She had dark hair that Moira had styled in two pigtails that flowed to her shoulders. She had a round toddler face, and her eyes were a deep sage color, setting her apart from her older brothers and sister, but she figured that she got the green eyes from Moira. She was petite and sweet, wearing a cute pink dress with white pants on underneath. She spoke softly and was really smart for a two year old. Moira was very round, looking miserable with this pregnancy, but Bella was interested in seeing what the twins would look like. Annalie was sweet as well. She was very knowledgeable and wanted to be a doctor when she got old enough.

Bella found her adorable as well and soon she was falling in love with this family. Her family. The banter between the two little boys was amusing, and it made Bella think about children in the future. She never thought that way back in Seattle. She was in Dauntless for a reason and it was a dangerous lifestyle.

"Thank you Moira." Bella thanks Moira for dinner. The younger children left to go wash up for bedtime since they had school in the morning. Sam and Charles remained at the table with Bella, Jasper, Lukas and Moira.

Moira smiled sweetly at Bella. "Of course. It is great to finally meet you. Charlie speaks of you and Eric often and of course we have pictures on the hall wall."

"You do?" Bella was amazed that Moira would readily accept Charles's other children.

"Of course. You are family. I want you to be comfortable here. We would love for you to stay permanently, but I know… that you have a job to do and I respect that." Moira said with a nod.

Bella sighed. "I wish we could stay. Honestly, running away from Seattle seems enticing, but I have a duty to the people. If something bad is going to happen, I need to be there to try and stop it. Even though Andrew and Natalie aren't my biological parents, they are my aunt and uncle and I don't want them to suffer. Caleb… he was the best big brother. I can't let him get hurt either. He's stuck in Erudite and if Jeanine is creating a war, then I don't want him to be caught up in that."

Lukas ran a hand over her arm when he sensed some anxiety in her. "I'd like to say I'll make sure I get her back here in one piece, but Bella doesn't need me protecting her." He said with a smile.

Bella smiled at Lukas. "Well, it won't hurt to have some extra protection."

Charles smiled. "You two… I have seen you grow up for the most part. Your father, Lucian Storm, is a great man. You're named after him."

Lukas nodded. "Yeah. He was the best. Wait," he frowned. "My dad died when I was twelve… like Bella."

Charles looked at Moira and then back at Lukas. "Lucian will… like to see you later."

Lukas didn't know what to say. His mouth dropped open and he felt Bella squeeze his hand. "He's alive?" He breathed.

"He came with me. I wasn't supposed to tell you. Lucian was specific about it. But he isn't here…. currently. That's why I wasn't supposed to tell you. He's in Montana. On an expedition and on trade with Helena." Charles explained.

Lukas stood. "He's where?"

"Helena is part of the hub. We needed cows."

"Cows?" Bella asked. "You don't have cows here? We have them in Seattle."

Charles nodded. "I know but we couldn't trade with Seattle. Helena is the next closest hub city."

Lukas shook his head. "My mom struggled for years. He just left?"

"He had no choice. Max found out about him being Divergent. He was compromised Lukas. For him to survive, he had to disappear. Your mother knew."

"She knew?!" Lukas said incredulously.

Bella stood now, her hands going to Lukas's arm. "Hey, baby, it's going to be okay. Remember what you told me."

Lukas closed his eyes, gathering his composure and then nodded. "Yeah. You're right."

Bella looked at Charles. "We should get some rest before we get going in the morning. We have to finish our expedition, even if… it's part of some plan that Max has cooked up."

"Understood. Jasper, let's go to my office, we'll have a chat. Lukas, Bella, there is a room ready for you at the end of the hall." Charles said as he stood.

Bella and Lukas found the room easily. There was a bathroom attached to the room, so Bella ventured inside and looked. It was nice. Nicer than anything at Dauntless. The walk in shower was completely tiled in a white tile and there were many shower heads and Bella found that interesting.

"A shower wouldn't hurt before we stay out for five more days." Bella said and looked at Lukas and smiled. "Come on." She grabbed his hand and pulled him in to the bathroom with her. Their lips connected for the first time in the last couple days, and their bodies instantly ignited. They tore each other's clothes off before stepping into the shower together. The heat of the shower melted against their skin and Bella sighed at the relief as the hot water washed over her before Lukas pinned her to the shower wall. He hoisted her up, his hands planted firmly on her ass before his cock slid into her, a little rough, but she enjoyed it. She clung to him as he pushed inside her repeatly, making her climb faster towards an orgasm. The water raining down around them made everything feel like a fantasy rainforest, as he plunged fast and deep inside her. When she came, she clamped her mouth over his to block out the sound of her orgasm. He wasn't far behind her, his cock swelling tight inside her before he poured his seed out inside her. They stayed locked together for a few long moments, enjoying the feel of the water on their skins, before he let her back down to her feet.
