Chapter 3: Sparrow Part 2

-With Garfield-

-Unknown Location-

Helpless against Sparrows strength Garfield suffered the same fate as Ryan. If only he had his powers or some bravery maybe he could have fought against Sparrow. The time for What If's was over however, now he was a prisoner.

It seemed like forever went by before consciousness would return to Garfield but soon he was awakened with the rest of the living. The substance to awaken him was a bright penetration illumination that had been directed right toward his optics. The first thing he opted to do was to check his surroundings to see where he was at, he became frightened to know that he was strapped to a surgical table with both legs and wrists secured.

"About time you got up, I was beginning to get bored!" Dick Grayson or rather Sparrow as he now called himself was the first to speak to him. The Paragon of Darkseid's army walked over to Garfield to taunt him in his current state. With a sinister grin and a crack of his knuckles, Sparrow gave a single sucker punch to the heroes face before retreating to a corner where a small computer like device awaited him.

As he tasted his own blood from the attack, he now took the time to observe the place he had been brought too. Sparrow's so called hideout had been a deep, darkened, smelly cave, the kind that the worst type of animals live in. Besides the table that he was mounted on, Garfield couldn't help but notice that their was another object sitting on a pile of rocks a few feet away from him.

The object was a cube that resembled a mother box used on Apokolips. The box was fully metal, black & emerald green in coloring and had the symbol of the moon on its surface. While the box was already strange looking Garfield couldn't help but notice that it was moving slightly from left to right almost in a quivering like fashion.

"You know I've never seen you so quiet." Sparrow stated. "You make me almost miss that mindless chatterbox that I once served on the Titans with."

"What the hell do you want with me?" He questioned with a anger that hid the intense fear he was feeling.

"I don't want you if it was up to me I'd slaughter you right now, but instead your needed for a higher purpose!"

Sparrow gestured to the small computer like device that he had been fiddling with. After typing a few commands on the keyboard, the device projected a small green light. Garfield watched as the tech produced a holographic image of Darkseid's 2nd in command Granny Goodness.

"Sparrow my darling!" She cooed in evil delight. "I see you've succeeded in your task!"

"Yes Granny I have Garfield and I managed to retrieve the Paragon Box from the asteroid Batman sent to earth." Sparrow began. By now the Justice League will have found the asteroids course, but they will be too late to retrieve what is inside!"

"Batman's alive?" Garfield thought

"Darkseid is very pleased with you capturing the animal runt but now you must finish your job Sparrow!"

"Eliminate Highfathers palace and terminate the Justice League, sounds easy enough!"

"Once that is finished you and your Paragon brethren will focus on bringing Darkseid back to earth!"

"What about him Granny?" He gestured toward the captive Garfield

"Attached the electrodes like I taught you and leave me with MR Logan, he has to be broken in like the others before he's ready to serve the master."

"I understand Granny, I'll have the league destroyed within the hour!"

Granny gave a final wicked smile before the transmission ended. Everything was going exactly to plan, and nobody could stop them. Garfield having heard the conversation didn't know what they were planning but knew it could only lead to more destruction.

"Your lucky!" Sparrow chimed. "You get the virtual torture; the rest of us had to deal with the real thing!"

"Lucky me." He said sarcastically.

After grabbing the electrodes from the machine, Sparrow attached two toward the Paragon Box and two toward Garfield's head. The villain was set to leave in order to complete his mission but found himself stopping to admire the fallen hero. He looked him up and down with interest before fixing his face in dismay.

"What the hell you staring at?" Garfield wondered.

"Something I don't get!" Sparrow shared. "You seem pretty shocked to discover that it was me behind this helmet."

"I was, so what?"

"Now that you know I'm Sparrow, how come you didn't try to snap me outta it?"

"What?"

"I mean I was expecting a plea sorts or some pathetic attempt to reason with me." He answered. "Since I brought you here, you haven't tried once to do the heroic thing and save my soul, why is that?"

"Although you have his face, your not Dick!" He quipped. "I'm not going to reason with someone who's a phony. I don't know what happened on Apokolips but the real Dick would soon have rather died then serve Darkseid!"

"Your just full of surprises aern't you Garfield!" He declared. "Not that it matters anyways, once Granny's done with you well bring out your evil side, then you'll be just like me!"

"The League will stop you!"

"Not a chance, it will be fun to see them try though!" After switching on the device, an electrical surge bolted from the machine toward the Paragon Box and Garfield. Garfield got a final glimpse of Sparrows smirk before he was knocked out and plunged into the realm of dreams.

-Dreamscape-

Garfield's mind was hijacked. Forced to be sent into a dreaming state where he will 'broken in' by the forces of Apokolips. The ex-titan found himself falling on a single floating platform overlooking a sea of lava below him. On the platform awaiting him, was Granny Goodness followed by several Parademons who carried several items for her. The items ranged from whips, axes, branding irons, swords, guns, cattle prods, scalpels and so much more torturous items.

"Welcome to Daycare Garfield!" She greeted happily. "I hope you will enjoy your stay here as you learn to serve the master!"

"No stay away from me!" He cried. He tried to run away from Granny Goodness but once he reached the edge he realized he was trapped. It was his worst nightmare come true, he was trapped with no way out, soon he would be met with the same fate as his friends.

"Well now for today's lesson, lets start with something easy!" The first thing the deranged woman went for was the whip and after doing a few test cracks she set her sight for the titans back. Garfield tried to block the incoming attack but was helpless as she sent lashes across his back a few times. All he could do is let the tears fall from his face as his blood was scattered from his fresh wound and onto the platform.

"P-p-pl-ease, S-t-o-p!"

"Darling I can't stop now, were just getting started!"

Garfield's heart dropped deep into his stomach when he saw Granny Goodness go for the cattle prod in one hand and the branding Iron in the other. Like a child being beat for disobeying the rules, all he could do is scream out in terror as she approached him closer, ready to break his mind & his body.

-Highfathers Palace-

-Medical Wing-

-Room 229-

Nosocomephobia or rather the fear a Hospitals. A phobia that was quite rare in the olden days, flash forward five years later it was a fear that many citizens of New Metropolis now shared.

Ryan Wilder was one of these people that was desperately afraid of the hospital. Even though she was head of the medic staff, the war setting combine with constant deaths made her fearful to come into work. How she wished she had perused a different avenue, one that brought hope to people instead of just medication, checkups and rehabilitation.

For Ryan her fear seemed to grow when she realized that Garfield was still missing. After Sparrow knocked both of them out, Ryan was found hours later by members of the New Genesis Royal Guard. Rushing her back to the Palace, they interrogated her for her wellbeing as well as to learn the location of where Garfield might have been taken. When she couldn't provide this information, she was told to stay under the towers watchful eye until further notice.

Ryan hated being on the sidelines when her friend needed her but alas she couldn't do much. Instead, she found herself getting back to work in the Medical Wing. Her first stop to waste time as well as put her mind at ease was her mentor and friend Kate Kane.

After washing the girl up, checking her vitals, and doing her usual medic duties, Ryan found herself looming over the body while lost in her own thoughts. It was hard to believe that Kate had been in a coma for five years, her condition being blamed on a fight she had against Lashina in which she suffered a massive head injury.

The doctors told the League that she would never awaken, but Ryan refused to believe that. Kate Kane was strong-willed, if anyone would make it through this it would be her. As Ryan looked at her still body, she couldn't help but admire Kate's power. The power to help others, the power to be strong in every situation, the power to stop evil whenever it strikes. If only Ryan had this power, she might have been able to save Kate & Garfield. For now all she could is hold her friends hand while silently saying prayers to make the situation better.

"Ryan." Highfathers voice called out to her. She immediately let go of her hand and noticed that he was standing in the doorway.

"Oh Highfather, I'm sorry I didn't know you were there."

"I didn't mean to startle you child, I came to see how you are."

"Just peachy, Garfield's in the hands of Darkseid and I can't do a damn thing!"

"Patience Ryan!" His fatherly like voice addressed her as he firmly grabbed her shoulders. "The League is out looking for him, they will find this Sparrow and stop him before any harm befalls Garfield!"

"But I should be out there with them!" She interjected. "Kate's and the other patients are stable, so maybe I could so something to help out!"

Highfather suddenly smirked. Even though she was only human she wanted to bad to save other people, a truly noble quality that both Bruce and Kate had recognized her for. With that being said Highfather was sure he was making the right decision when he chooses her. Without warning he suddenly handed Ryan several color coded folders with different symbols on them.

Ryan recognized the symbols and found herself looking at each of the folders with interest. "I don't understand."

"I know you want to help the league out, but your not ready yet." He responded. "With that being said I think it would be best if you put your talents elsewhere."

"Ok some of this is doable but some of this involves tapping into the M-."

"I know it's a huge undertaking but I believe you can do it, with Garfield being captured we need to be prepared!"

"Who else knows about this?" She wondered.

"Besides you and I, nobody else. He answered. "With that being said you cannot tell anyone else what your up too including Garfield when we find him!"

"But Highfather I-"

"Can I count on you Ryan?" He questioned sternly.

While she did want to help the League anyway she could, Highfathers secretive behavior slightly put her off. She was glad that she was trusted enough, but the files he gave her contained some shocking plans that he wanted to implement. Such plans could end the war against Darkseid but might also spell disaster for the League as well if they weren't careful.

"Well Ryan?" He asked once more.

"You can count on me, in fact I'll get started on this first folder this afternoon!"

"Excellent, I'll be off then and don't worry the League will find Garfield!" With those final words Highfather left Ryan to her thought.

"Well Kate, looks like we've got something interesting to work on!" Ryan stated before walking over to a nearby phone on the wall. After scanning the first folder, she dialed the number and awaited for a response. "Hello this is Ryan Wilder, I'd like to place a call to the Star Labs Metahuman containment division!"

-New Metropolis-

-Downtown-

"Good Evening citizens of New Metropolis, I'm Tina minmen and we bring you breaking news! An asteroid hurdling from space has unexpectedly crash landed here in downtown Metropolis, when ether this is a new threat from Apokolips remains to be seen, the Justice League however is advising all residents to not panic!"

Downtown Metropolis was the cornerstone of exciting news the moment that the asteroid touched down on the streets. Citizens and news reporters were herded back behind yellow caution tape by police officers while a few Justice League members went to work.

The League was once again stretched thin in their efforts to try and preserve peace among the citizens. Group one consisted of Superman, Big Barda, DR Fate, The Atom, Mister Miracle, & Vixen whose job was to secure the asteroid while the other groups were off looking for Garfield.

"Very interesting!" In miniature form the Atom now stood inside the asteroid, admiring the cracks of where a cube like object had been.

"Anything usable Ray?" Superman inquired

"No doesn't look like it, whatever Batman placed inside that asteroid is gone!" He replied as he jumped out and assumed normal size once more.

"Great then this was a waste of time!" Vixen groaned impatiently. "Once again Darkseid is two steps ahead of us!"

"Now is now that time to complain Vixen, now is the time for action!" Barda scolded.

"Barda is right we just need to mobilize, it couldn't have gotten far!"

"By Nabu!" DR Fate suddenly whispered in a shocked tone.

"What's wrong Fate?"

DR Fate wouldn't respond to his companions, so the others decided to follow his eyes to were he was staring. Tracing back the source the Justice League members gasped in shock and surprise as they witnessed Dick Grayson walking toward them.

"Dick!" Superman exclaimed.

"He's alive!"

First Batman's alive and now Robin, things seemed to be looking better for the league at every moment. Superman would have been the first to run and greet the Leader of the Titans but he found himself halted as DR Fate held out a single hand to stop him. The other members of the League awaited the DR's response as his eyes glowed with his magical energy.

"Why are you stopping us?"

"His soul carries the taint of Apokolips!" DR Fate stated. "My magic see's into the darkened realm of his existence!"

"You should listen to the bobble head what he says is right!" Sparrow laughed

"Dick what has Darkseid done to you?"

"The name is Sparrow now kryptonian, and if you want to see what the master has blessed me with I'll gladly show you!" Up until this point Sparrow had been referring to himself as a Paradon of Darkseid, without showing what that meant. Now that he was on a quest to slay the League, he would get to showcase the great powers that were given to him. The great powers that would also soon bring Darkseid the Anti-Life Equation.

The League observed Dick's actions as he rolled up the sleeve on his motorcycle uniform. On his wrist lay a metallic bracelet with a Bronze colored gemstone in the middle of it.

"Hail Darkseid!" Sparrow yelled out proudly as he balled his fist and crossed it in front of his chest with the gemstone facing outward. The Gemstone blared brightly with unknown energy as it engulfed Sparrow's entire body. The League held their eyes against the intensity of the light which seemed to last forever, when it finally subsided they found that Dick or rather Sparrow wasn't in the same state as he was before.

Sparrow was now dressed from head to toe in robust but sleek armor. Sparrow was adorned in black armor with gold lining. On the chest of the armor was a symbol of a Phoenix, while spaulder type armor was nestled upon his shoulders. His right hand was shielded by a winged style gauntlet while his left hand contained the same metallic bracelet, only this time the crystal was missing leaving instead a cog shaped hole was in it's place. The armor contained a belt with a small compartment while it also had gold knee guards and finally armored boots. The helmet covered Sparrows entire face and also slight resembled that of a Phoenix.

Now fully equipped with the armor and power bestowed upon him from the great Darkseid, Sparrow readied himself for battle. As the Justice League was still beguiled by the strange armor, he was wearing he suddenly dissapered leaving a trail of gold feathers in his place. A few seconds later he reappeared behind the League members and began sending swift strikes to each of their torsos. Superman went flying into a nearby building while his comrades were each separated in different directions, the only one who managed to dodge the attack was DR Fate.

"Stop this madness Richard, Darkseid is sending your soul on a dark path!"

"After what happened to my parents you should know I don't believe in Fate!" He snarled.

Before DR Fate could pull out any of his magical incantations, Sparrow pounced on him. Using his teleportation powers as he did before, he transported himself behind DR Fate and sent a powerful punch to the sorcerers back.

DR Fate's entire back seized up with tension as Sparrows strength easily caused him to double over in pain. Sparrow wasn't finished their however, once DR Fate was down he charged his fist with strange energy and punched a hole straight into him. DR Fate cried out for mercy as Sparrow grabbed a deep hold of his spinal cord and ripped it clean out his back.

"Kent!" Superman yelled as he looked at the horrified remains of his now dead body. Never in a million years would he think DR Fate could fall so easily, he was a lord of Order and Chaos for Gods sake yet Sparrow managed to pick him off as if his powers were nothing.

"One down, now whose next!" Sparrow laughed

"Murderer!" Barda screamed as she charged toward Sparrow with her battle axe. The Paragon could feel her presence coming at him however and blocked the weapon with a single hand. "You shall pay for spilling his blood!"

"Not likely traitor!" He responded as he prepared his hand to strike her.

Superman and the other Justice League members were now thrown into the fray after seeing DR Fate executed so counteracted first with her animal totem, after summoning the strength of the rhino she slammed into Sparrow knocking him off his balance.

Once her weapon was free Barda swung the axe into the side of Sparrow's torso sending him spinning. Mister Miracle and The Atom were next, sending numerous punches to Sparrow before Superman froze the Paragon with his ice breath.

"Pathetic!" Despite the leagues best effort to contain him Sparrow's paragon armor allowed him to easily break through the ice. "You losers don't even stand a chance against me!"

"Everyone stand your ground, if we stay together we can take him!" Superman ordered as the Justice League went into fight Sparrow.

-With Garfield-

Just as the Justice League didn't stand a chance against Sparrow, Garfield was completely at Granny Godnesses mercy. Just as she had done to the other Titans, Granny Goodness complete found herself using every sadistic trick at her disposal inorder to hurt Garfield. The hero lay on the ground, naked in a puddle of his own blood as he withered around from the open wounds he had imprinted onto his flesh. He wished she would just finish him off, end his misery already but instead she inflicted the most pain without killing him. Her goal was not to kill him but to break him mentally, so he would be easy pickings for Darkseid when the time came.

"P-P-P-Pl-ea-se n-n-n-n-o m-m-ore." He begged.

"No can do my darling we've only finished round one, we have much more to do before your ready to serve the master!"

"Y-y-y-ou, -b-bitch!"

"You still have more respect to learn MR Logan!" She announced. "With that being said I think it's best if you spent the night in the fire, I'll fish you out tomorrow and we can start the next part of your training!"

"F-f-f-ire!" She was referring to the sea of fire that was beneath them. Garfield felt his heart skipped a beat realizing those fires mimicked the ones on Apokolips. They would have presented him for maximum pain without killing him, all in an effort to break his psyche down to its' core.

"Take him!" Granny Goodness ordered to the Parademons who promptly started to walk over to changeling.

"N-o, p-lease, s-ss-t-op!" Was all Garfield could make out while the Parademons lifted him up by his arms and dragged him toward the edge of the platform. He kept crying as the flames seemed to greet him below, almost as if he was being sentenced to fires of hell.

He might as well have given into Granny Goodness; she was too powerful, Darkseid was too powerful. They each had managed to stay ahead of their foes and now it looked like they would finally snuff them out for good. Garfield couldn't even imagine the pain he was going to feel ina second, the only thing his heart was capable of doing was focusing on the people that mattered. Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, & Ryan, the true sight of his friends would be the only thing that would get him through this ordeal.

"Garfield fight don't let her win!" A voice suddenly called out, infiltrating the virtual dreamscape.

"What in blazes was that?" Granny questioned.

"Focus Garfield, I know you can do this, stay strong!"

"Who's there?"

"You need to stay strong, your the only one who can defeat Darkseid!"

"No- I can't he's too powerful!"

"What are you waiting for your idiots, throw him in the fire!"

"Garfield think of Raven!" The voice shouted back

Raven. His beautiful girlfriend and the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. While the memory of his friends was set to keep him company in the fire, Garfield had kept Raven out of his mind. While he did love her deeply, she wouldn't have wanted to see him in such a pathetic state. If Raven were here she would have tauntingly encouraged him to keep fighting no matter what.

Then it hit Garfield like a thousand bricks. Robin was alive, which meant the others including Raven were also alive. This lit a spark of hope for him. He couldn't give up now, especially when their was a chance he might be able to get her back. To maybe reclaim the love he lost with her in the first place. The only thing standing in his way was Darkseid's evil, the evil that he swore one day he would kill. The voice was right he couldn't give up he had to fight on. He had to stay strong for only he could fulfill the promise, only he could kill Darkseid.

"Throw him in now you imbicles!" Granny shouted

Before the Parademons could even attempt the feat Garfield struck first. Strength returned to his body as he suddenly began to morph into an animal, not just any animal however. Garfield morphed into a large, hulking, vicious T-Rex.

"How is that possible?" She had broken him physically and damaged him beyond repair yet here he was fully strengthened.

The T-Rex roared with ferocity as it rampaged throughout the platform, knocking the Parademons into the sea of fire as well as al the torture equipment. The only person left was a now frightened Granny Goodness who was backed against the edge of the platform like Garfield had been before.

Granny Goodness wasn't one to like the table being turned on her. Now that Garfield had the upper hand she was going to be in a much deserved world of hurt. "Now, now Garfield, you wouldn't want to hurt dear old Granny now would you!"

Garfield's response was scoop the Apokolyptian in his gigantic jaw. Granny Goodness screamed out in agony as her skin was punctured by the massive sharp incisors of the T-Rex's mouth. Garfield subjected Granny to several minutes of this pain before he split her out toward the sea of fire below them.

"D-Darkseid!" She cried out as her body was engulfed by the flames. While she wouldn't die by the substance before her, at least she that would teach her not to mess with him.

Once he was alone Garfield gave a prehistoric roar in triumph before his willpower suddenly returned to him.

-End of Dreamscape-

After conquering the dreamscape reality, Garfield awoke still strapped to the table. With his last bit of strength, he broke free of his bindings before ripping the electrodes off of him and the Paragon Box. With that last act of heroism, Garfield's strength was dispelled. He couldn't barley keep his naked body upright before he collapsed on the ground before him.

-With the League-

Garfield may have overcome Granny Goodnesse's treachery in the dreamscape but the League was no closer to taking down Sparrow. Residents in the area fled for the lives as Sparrow kept beating the members of the Justice League as if they were ragdolls. The league underestimated Sparrow and his armor which gave him flight, teleportation, super strength , solar energy manipulation, and a deflective abilities.

Superman was the latest leaguer to go up against Sparrow. The kryptonian traded multiple blows against Sparrow torso in an attempt to subdue him. The Paragon stood unfazed by Superman's attacks and at the first opening sent uppercutted him into a different section of metropolis.

"This isn't working, we need a plan to wear him down!" The Atom suggested.

"Ray I'll keep him busy try to disable his armor!" Barda ordered

"A splendid Idea Barda!" The Atom complimented. Once the plan was in motion he pressed the dial on his belt shrinking his body to the size of a small ant. Once miniature size Barda placed the hero on top of her head before going after Sparrow who had just blasted Mister Miracle and Vixen away with solar energy orbs.

This time Sparrow could not intercept her attack, Barda had the upper hand as she buried her axe deep into his shoulder. The Atom went into action too jumping from Barda's head and down on Sparrow's neck, once their he began to frantically look for a way to depower his foe.

"You traitorous bitch!" Sparrow spat before elbowing Barda straight in the jaw. "You dare strike me!"

"I intend to do more then that!"

"Alright then no more games!" Up until now Sparrow had enjoyed toying with the Justice League but now being struck pissed him off. His senses aligned back with his original mission to kill the Justice League for his master.

His first act of cruelty went toward the Atom. Apparently he was onto the hero's plan to disable his armor and snatched him from his neck as a result. The Atom was caught off guard by Sparrow noticing him and forced him into the palm of his hand. With little to no effort Sparrow soon clutched his hand into a ball crushing the Atom to death. Barda looked on in horror as the Atom's blood splashed all over Sparrows hand.

"You shall pay dearly for betraying master!"

Barda awaited for Sparrow to come at her for battle but the Paragon merely gestured toward the compartment on his belt. She watched in curiosity as he brought fourth a small cog made of solid gold while placing it into the slot in his bracelet. Once inside the bracelet the cog glowed with solar energy before it materialized two long hook swords in Sparrows hands.

"First I take the one thing you love the most!" He said before setting his sights on the downed Mister Miracle and Vixen.

With his enhanced speed Sparrow pounced on the duo before they could react. With his weapons in hand Sparrow began to hack away at the two heroes. The attack started off with brute cuts to their flesh all over before it escalated into full scale mutilation. First their hands, then their feet and finally he finished them off with slicing their torsos down the middle.

"Scott!" Barda screamed out as she watched her husband slaughtered to death right in front of her.

"Barda get back!" Superman suddenly appeared next to her while trying to shield her from Sparrow. At this point the blue boy scout knew they were outmatched, their only option now was to flee before he could finish them off as well.

But Barda didn't listen to his pleas. Angered by her husbands demise she brushed past Superman and lifted her axe to strike Sparrow. The Paragon like always was quicker in dodging and with his hook swords he easily sliced off Barda's hands. The blood flooded like a water hose toward the ground as Barda was forced to her knees from the pain.

"This is why you don't defy the master!" Sparrow stated. "You of all people should know Barda, Darkseid's will cannot be stopped!"

Throughout the pain she was feeling Barda still managed to fight through it and stare down Sparrow. Somewhere in the universe she could hear Granny Goodness laughing at the situation she was in. Today she would face the death that Darkseid promised her so many years ago when she defected. All that time she spent on the run, fighting Parademons and trying to stop Apokolips, it didn't matter anymore. Her and Scotts time as allies against Apokolips would come to this abrupt end.

"Any last words traitors?" He questioned

Bardas last act of defiance was to spit in Sparrows face. The Paragon reacted accordingly by slashing the girl in the throat with his hook swords killing her instantly.

"Noooo!" Superman screamed

"And with that we come to the mighty Superman!" Sparrow gleefully announced. "While I don't exactly have the Kryptonite to kill you, I'll settle for a thousand cuts!"

Superman was never known to give up in the face of battle, but seeing Sparrow approach him instilled fear deep into his being. With his comrades dead and his strength waning from the battle he would soon become the last of Sparrows victims. The former Man of Steel felt despair take over his senses as he dropped to his knees in a submissive position.

"Thanks for making it easy for me!"

"Dick don't do this!" The victory was lost to Superman, which meant his only option was to try and talk some sense into Batman's former sidekick. "Darkseid is just using you, he'll destroy you when he's finished with you!"

"He said you would say that!" Sparrow stated as he got within striking distance of Superman. "My answer to you is, I live to serve Darkseid!"

"Dick please!"

Sparrow ignored the Kryptonians pleas for peace as he raised both his hook swords. "Goodbye Superman!"

"Sparrow stop!" Before Sparrow could attack Superman with full force the Paragon halted his attack as he heard Lashina in his ear.

"Lashina what the hell do you want, can't you see I'm busy!"

"That little green bastard Garfield escaped Granny's virtual torture, master Darkseid has ordered you to get him back!"

"B-But?"

"No buts get him back before he escapes!" Was Lashina's last words before she shut off the communication

"Damnit!" Sparrow cursed. "You got lucky alien, I don't have time to play with you anymore."

"What?"

"Don't worry, I'll leave you with a parting gift!" After tossing his hook swords down Sparrow went for another cog inside of his belt while repeating the same motion as he did the first one. Superman wasn't sure what was going on but got his answer as the cog generated two phoenix wings on the back of Sparrows armor.

With the wings attached Sparrow flapped them in a back and forward motion while expelling a strange golden dust. The dust generated by the wings whirled throughout the immediate area, covering nearby buildings with the substance. On contact once the dust hit the buildings it began to spark like fourth of july fireworks.

Superman watched in horror as soon the buildings soon began to explode. Like a set of dominos the buildings in New Metropolis began to combust one by one leaving a trail, debris, screaming citizens and wall of flames in their wake.

"Noooo!" Superman cried. With his super hearing he could easily hear the hundreds of heartbeats from people stop as they died in the explosion.

"Until next time Kryptonian!" Sparrow gave a solid wave goodbye before he teleported away leaving Superman in the aftermath of his destruction. The Man of Steel quivered on the ground as tears welled up in his eyes. He was powerless to do anything, once again he failed to stop Darkseid's forces and so many others suffered because of it. Seeing Sparrow's power dashed any hopes he had of winning this war or protecting his remaing loved ones.

With Darkseid having this type of warrior at his disposal was their truly any way to stop him now?

-Elsewhere-

The power of the Sun is an amazing and dangerous element. For Sparrow it was used to kill certain members of the Justice League and bring havoc to Metropolis. Elsewhere however the sun was being used for a more peaceable reason, in this case it had brought warmness to Garfield's cold body. It seemed like he was destined to soak up the sunlight forever, but eventually even his body couldn't take a possible sunburn.

"Ahhhh!" Garfield suddenly jolted awake as the he felt his body overheat. The Titan observed his surroundings closely to make sure his enemy Sparrow wasn't around. The good news is Sparrow wasn't around; the even better news was he wasn't in the cave anymore. Strangely enough even though he didn't remember walking Garfield suddenly saw that he as on a brightly lit beach, probably near the boardwalk no doubt.

His mind tried to process everything that happened to him throughout the day. It suddenly hit him that he managed to escape Granny Goodness virtual trap by himself, it also hit him that he was standing on the beach stark naked like the day he was born.

"Damnit!" Garfield cursed as he covered his intimate parts while making sure that nobody was around to see him exposed. Then it his him once again, he was naked but his skin had suddenly been healed. Granny Goodness had subjected him to insane torture but his body was devoid of any marks to remember it, almost as if it had never happened.

"What are you so shy about, isn't being naked a homosaipen pastime?" A voice suddenly chirped at him.

"What the hell!" Garfield exclaimed. There once again was that voice that aided him to regain his courage.

"I'm so glad your awake Garfield, you don't know how hard it was dragging you to this beach by your wrist!" The Voice said. "Good thing MR Batman reprogrammed me to be tougher!"

"Who said that?"

"Here!"

"Where?" He questioned while looking in several numerous directions.

"Down here friend!"

Turning his head slowly behind him Garfield's jaw dropped to the floor like a over animated cartoon character. Behind him know was a small tiger cub. The little feline was green in color with black stripes, his paws were also robotic being made of complete steel with emerald claws sticking out of them. The tiger cub also had piercing purple eyes, a gemstone on it's forehead, and finally it's tail was made out of metal with a orb attached to the end of it.

"I'm so happy your awake!" The tiger cub responded while shaking it's tail fast as if it were a dog. Garfield's face contorted into pure confusion as it couldn't make out the fact that it was talking to this little baby tiger. Granted he had seen many weird things in his life, but this robotic creature took the cake. "You sure showed that old hag a thing or too, I'd like to see her get out of that fire!"

"What are you?" He blurted out in question form.

"I'm your new P.I.P.A.R.O.I.D , my name is Lunar!"

"Lunar?"

Was the final words Garfield could make from his mouth as he stared down the happy critter. He had so many questions regarding the Paragons and their connection with Darkseid but now seeing Lunar turned his entire thought process upside down. His main question now was who is this Lunar and where did he come from.

Another mystery added to the already chaotic situation at hand.

End of Chapter 3
