Chapter 14 – Curses and Legends

I haven't been to this area in Brazil since I started my training. Almost seven years ago. It was early morning. We have been at this for three days and haven't come close to an answer. I was eating some eggs and toast in the kitchen looking over my map. Jasper, Alice, and Demetri went to hunt.

"No not here," I said as I crossed out another location that was a dead end. The only clue I've been able to find was on the island Bella and Edward spent their honeymoon on.

"Pfft, if you could even call it that," I mumbled. They had a legend about hybrids. But the caretakers remembered Bella. We explained she lived and Renesmee but they didn't want to know more and they didn't give any more information either. Demetri volunteered his way of getting information from them, but Jasper and Alice growled while I shoved him to the floor. Needless to say, he changed his mind. I smiled at the memory.

"What's causing that smile?" I hear a voice from the doorway.

I shook my head and saw Jasper leaning against the frame with his arms crossed. The epidemy of sexiness.

"Demetri and floor," I said taking a bite of my toast. He chuckled.

"It was a site," he said as he came to sit down in front of me.

"Where is the buffoon and Alice," I took sip of orange juice.

"They took a boat to an outside island to have a look." He said looking at my map and pointing to their location.

"Hmm, as ever, they want some alone time. I get it." I sighed stretching. Then I felt something. I held my stomach. It hurt.

Jasper was behind me holding me, "What's wrong?"

"I don't know…. I, I was fine right now…. I, oh hell," I held my hand over my mouth and ran to the bathroom… and blew chunks.

"Ember! Ember!" I could hear Jasper's voice but it was faraway, and I blacked out.

When I came to, everything was fuzzy and I was in a room. I couldn't make anything out, I saw different lights, a table, with stuff, I couldn't make any of it out. There was a figure by the table.

"Finally, the disappointment comes to. Alright there, December?" the figure asked. It was male, but still the voice was off.

I couldn't talk. I tried to move. There was something in my mouth but it wasn't blood. I spat it out, but couldn't see it.

"Now now, you're dirtying my floor. Seems spending time with those monsters made you lose all your manners." Said the man.

I felt burning. I now realized I was lying on the floor. I look underneath me and felt fluid, it smelled like blood.

"I'm bleeding?" I asked myself.

"Now, where were we?" the man asked and I looked up and horror must have shown on my face. Jasper was chained up and looked at me with a matching face.

"Jasper," I whispered trying to move, but I couldn't.

"This thing shouldn't have a name December. Once I you of him, you'll be free, and so will I." the man said looking from me to Jasper. I still couldn't make him out.

"Who are you!" I tried to scream but it came out garbled with more fluid.

"Ember!" I hear Jasper call again, but I blacked out.

I was with the huntress again. In my mind. I looked around, this time everything was red, not the normal blue it's always been.

"What is this place?" I asked.

"Our fury," she replied as she looked at me. Worried.

I smirked, "usually you do not wear such a face. Something must really be wrong." I sat down across from her as I always do.

"This last dream. I did not see anything, but felt it all. You were dying." She said quietly.

It took me a moment to speak. "I know."

"But something was different. You were not you, but you were. I felt you as I always do, but it seemed," she got quiet. Pondering her thoughts.

"As though you were leaving me." I finished for her. She nodded. Solemnly.

"I need to know who that figure is. I know it's male. I feel as if I know who he is. But I just don't. For some reason, his face is blocked. It's frustrating." I said balling up my fists so hard they start to bleed. I then felt a hand on mine. I looked and it was hers.

"Someone is taking me from you and using any means to do so. You're dying…. December." She said as she looked at me.

"Dying? What? How? How can that be?" I got up and paced.

"I figured it started when you got sick last year. The dreams. Feeling like we're being torn apart. Someone is doing this and I believe it's the man in your dreams." She said.

"Hmph, nothing like the man in my dreams killing me instead of falling for me," I mumbled.

"December, if this is true, and we're right, your vampire is also in trouble." She said as I turned to look at her.

"Don't you mean our vampire huntress?" I smirked but I knew this also to be true. He is in trouble.

"Don't get cheeky. You need to be careful, now more than ever. Whatever is coming, is close. Get this mission out of the way and go back home. You don't have much time. I know you know this." She said standing up and putting her hand on my shoulder. "We don't have much time."

I just nodded, "but what am I to do? If I die, Jasper dies. I have to save him."

"I can't tell you, I don't know. But whatever the answer is, it probably has to do with saving yourself." She put her hand down.

"Saving myself? What does that mean?" I asked confused. I looked at her and I just saw a sorrowful small smile before my eyes rolled back into my head and I saw black.

"December, come on. Come back to me. Please?" I heard a voice, it sounded determined yet sad. Jasper.

"I'd follow your voice anywhere you damn vampire," I mumbled as I opened my eyes. It took only moments to adjust, thankfully it was dark in the room with a small lamp on in the corner.

"December!" he sighed nudging me with his nose and kissing my forehead.

"Can tell when you're really worried," I said groggily trying to sit up. I propped myself up against the headboard.

"What do you mean?" he asked getting up from his kneeling position to sit next to me on the bed.

I had my eyes closed and breathed slowly in and out to get my head straight. I felt foggy. "You only use my whole name when you're worried or angry with me." I opened my eyes to look at him. I smiled. I took his hand and kissed it. "I'm fine. That stone face of yours will get wrinkles."

He chuckled. "Only you can cause a vampire to get wrinkles darlin'"

I laughed but I remembered my dream and sighed.

"What happened?" he asked rubbing my hand.

I started tearing up and shook my head.

"Darlin' I've told you before, you can tell me, we'll get through it together, but if you don't want to, I won't push."

'He doesn't need to know. I don't want him to know.' I looked at him, his eyes, his face. He looked so worried. Love. This love. 'I have to find some way to save him, even if I can't save myself. But the huntress said to save him, I need to save myself.' "Still don't know what that means." I said to myself.

"What darlin?" he asked confused.

I hadn't realized I said it aloud. "Hm? Nothing. Just a lot of thoughts going through here." I said pointing to my head.

"As ever. A common thing for you." He chuckled. "But you're ok?"

"Yes. I just need to stretch and I need to bathe." I said smelling under my arms. Not bad, but still, need to clean.

He smiled, "I'll get the bath ready."

"Actually, love, can you take me to the waterfall? I could use a swim also."

He looked cautious. "Are you sure you have the strength? You're sick."

I batted my eyelashes. Well, the best I could anyway, "please?"

He snickered.

I hugged and crossed my arms, "Hey, I'm not good at flirting. Take me."

"Sugar you have me already, no need to flirty, but it's cute the way you get mad." He smirked.

"Oh, shut up and take me," I said not looking at him. He gathered my things and a change of clothes in a matter of seconds and lifted me carefully. "Cheeky vampire," I mumbled as we took off to the waterfall. It only took him a minute to get there but he was smiling at me all the way.

Once we got there, it was beautiful. The water was so clear. Even though it's winter, it felt like a light summer day here. The water was cool and crisp as I set my foot in.

"Perfect," I sighed.

"I'll be back," Jasper said as he took off.

"Always a perimeter check," I said as I began to stretch and strip. From my hearing there was no one around but animals. I made my way in the water and swam around first to stretch. I was swimming for about ten minutes. It wasn't a big area. There were fish swimming around. It wasn't too deep either. The little lake goes down to a little river which eventually leaves to the ocean. I made my way to my items and walked around to the waterfall. Again, not grand but it was still a site to see. I made sure to have natural items to bath that are good for the environment. Luckily they sell this stuff in the markets here for this type of occasion. I poured some shampoo and conditioner in my hand and made my way under the waterfall, there was a small alcove to the back of me where the sounds of the water just reverberated around me. Soothing. I washed my hair which took a while because there was so much of it.

"I swear I'm going to cut it," I say as I finished and went to get my bodywash.

I heard a sharp intake of breathe and when I looked Jasper was standing on the other side of the waterfall. I peeked around the falling water and saw him. His eyes were dark and his face stern.

"What's wrong?" I asked. Completely oblivious as to why he looked that way. I used my senses and still found no one to be around. I focused on him again and he was making his way through the waterfall (it was only waist deep there), to me. I saw him walk through the waterfall and the look he was giving me matched mine as in that moment, I knew why he was looking at me. I looked down and I was still naked, with my hair down, wet.

"Really major," I quirked a grin and he sprinted to me grabbing me in his arms and growled. He sprinted back to the waterfall with me, and I then noticed he was naked as well.

C.W. warning

"Had to make it fair sugar," he said as he started kissing my neck.

I tried not to groan. "I was showering here Major," I bit my lip.

He chuckled, "but how can I NOT take this delicious opportunity," he said as I felt his hand travel down and reach my spot.

I couldn't hold it anymore, I groaned.

"So wet for me," he said has he stuck his finger in and moved it around. "Sugar you'll be the death of me." He parted my legs and with a swift movement he went in.

I groaned and he growled. The water was cascading down on us as we set a rhythm.

My tiredness and sickness went away as he pumped me as I straddled him in the water. He started going faster and faster. I was about to cum as was he. For a moment I lost myself. Felt like I had an out of body experience. For that moment I saw both of us. He had a look of confusion on his face, but it didn't last long as we came to our climax…. And he bit me.

Next thing I knew I was back in my body moaning so loud I'm sure people passing by withing ten miles heard me. He kept pumping into me as he finished and I felt him lick my neck where he bit me and I saw him. He looked at me and I at him. I saw the blood, my blood, trickle down his chin. His eyes glowing blue.

"You took a lot this time," I said as my eyes started to close.

End

I faintly felt a small burning sensation throughout my body before I saw black.

I felt something soft under me. I slowly opened my eyes and adjusted them by blinking. I looked around and saw I was back in the house. I rolled over and didn't see Jasper anywhere. I felt a small pain in my neck and reached up and felt to holes, but they were closed. It all came back to me.

"Jasper Whitlock!" I yelled.

I heard the whooshing sound and saw him in the doorway, looking stiff. I sat up and looked at him with my hand where the bite was. "Care to explain?"

He walked to me and took my hand and looked at the bite. "Couldn't help myself sugar. I apologize." He let go of my hand and stood from the bed, eyeing me. He looked troubled.

I didn't say anything. I stretched and got up. He didn't make a move to help me, smart. He knew I was mad. I made my way over to the vanity and looked at it. I looked at him through the mirror. "Is this another claiming mark?"

"It is, and it isn't." Was all he said.

I turned around, "that's all your going to say." I said it more in a statement. Because I knew, it was all he was going to say.

He nodded.

I just huffed out in frustration. "I'm going to eat."

I went to the kitchen and started making some cereal and took a mango and a banana and made a smoothie. The whole time, Jasper watched me from the sofa from the living room. I didn't want to look at him, so I sat with my back to him to eat.

I continued to eat and drink without a word. I heard him get up and walk to the door.

"I am sorry darlin'. I'll be around when you want to talk." He sprinted out the door.

I finished my breakfast and sighed. I just realized it was late afternoon. And I just ate breakfast. "Pfft, damn vampires." I took my dishes to the sink and quickly cleaned them and headed back to the bedroom. I felt a shift inside me. The huntress. I went and looked in the mirror, my eyes were glowing.

"Oh yeah, sure, now you want to talk." I mumbled as I sat down on the floor and meditated. I don't know how long it took but I opened my eyes and I was in the normal blue bubble that she resides deep within me. She was standing with her back to me.

"What is it this time?" I sighed.

She turned around and had a sorrowful look.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I walked up to her.

"Don't be mad at your vampire. It seems you're cursed, and what he did," she stopped.

"Cursed? What he did was...?" I pressed from her.

"Was necessary. That's all I'll say." She turned back around.

"You wanted me to come here, for that?" I yelled.

Suddenly I felt a pang in my stomach, and I was wrenched from her world back into mine. I opened my eyes and gasped. "Well damn, you didn't need to do that. And he didn't need to bite me, necessary or not. Damn half sentences and half-truths. Cursed?" I mumbled standing up. "I'm tired of this shit!"

I took a deep breath and looked around the room. There was a calendar. I walked to it and stared at it. I was crossing off the days as they went when we were here. It was almost New Year's Eve. A few days before actually.

"My birthday, how ironic." I mumbled as my hand touched the specific day.

"You never did tell me when it was," a voice whispered behind me. I didn't have to turn to know it was him.

"She said it was necessary." I told him.

He didn't say anything. I turned around to face him. "The bite. She said it was necessary."

He just continued to look at me. A blank face.

I sighed and looked to the ground. "I'm tired of not being told anything and I'm tired of being told what to do, when to do it, how to do it. I'm tired of being pulled. I feel like a puppet Jasper. I'm in a constant ring around the rosy type of deal that never ends." I sat on the bed, "If it does end, I'm dead, and if I die, you die, how is that fair?"

He kneeled before me with his hands on mine. "We'll figure it out. I know one thing for sure," he said tilting my head up to meet his eyes. "I've never been around for your birthday. The last one we were barely on speaking terms and you never said anything. I want to celebrate with you and I will do my damndest to make sure we will. We will make it through this, whatever it takes."

I smiled. "Of all I said, that's what you get out of it huh?"

He quirked his sexy grin at me. That stupid side grin. "With you darlin', I'm not thinking of when you won't be around, I'm thinking of what to do while you're around."

I began to say something when we heard rapid whooshing and talking.

"Jasper? December, get out here now, we need to talk!" came Alice's voice.

We both rushed out but when we got to the living room I had to sit down, I felt too warm. I looked at Jasper and he mouthed 'venom' and I nodded. He must've given me a lot, but when I got bit before nothing like that happened. Another question with no answer.

"What do you have?" I asked shaking my head. Both Alice and Demetri looked concerned but didn't comment on it.

"We found something that'll help." Demetri stated.

"Well, someone," Alice corrected. "They'll be here soon."

"Who?" I said looking between her and Demetri.

"Another," Demetri said.

"Another hybrid," Alice smiled. "The legend here is true."

There you have it! Mystery man will show next chapter. Why did Jasper bite December? Why is she cursed and dying? All will be revealed soon. :) until then lovelies, stay you!
