Chapter 15: Techno Takeover Part 2

"Lunar little buddy snap outta it!" This was the urgent command that Garfield tried to administer to his piparoid pal ever since he went lifeless and still. Caught in some sort of trance, Lunar stared off into space not even bothering to answer him. "Are you broken or something? Did your batteries run out, Lunar pal please talk to me!"

His short attempt at pleading soon paid off as Lunar's eyes returned to their normal color. The piparoid immediately returned to his normal functions and began looking around curiously. "What's going on?"

"You tell me dude, you totally spaced out on me!" He explained with a sigh of relief. "What happened to you?"

"I don't know my programming started acting funny then I just-." Lunar's explanation would be short lived as he unexpectedly jumped from Garfield's hands and onto the floor. Once he was freed from his friends clutches Lunar eyed the controllers that went to the Mega Monkey 5 games and in one swoop gobbled them up while leaving no trace.

"My game!" Garfield cried with panic.

But Lunar wasn't finished there; however, once the game system was fully gone the piparoid set his sights on the Bat computer itself. With his cat agility he pounced to the very top of the screen and with an open jaw began to take generous chunks out of it.

"Lunar stop!" Garfield shouted nervously. The piparoid paid him no mind however and began rapidly chewing through the structure like a cartoon termite. With the quickness Lunar had reduced the 70 inch computer screen to nubs with only few wires and bolts remaining. "Why'd you eat the Batcomputer?"

"I don't know, something's wrong!" He declared between the heavy pants to catch his breath. "My system, I don't know why but I'm so hungry!"

"Dude we gotta get you to Highfather maybe he can figure this out!"

"Good Idea friend, good Idea!" Although Lunar verbally was in agreement with Garfield, his body had other ideas. Without warning as Garfield tried to grab him, Lunar sprinted past him and toward the display case housing some of the bat family costumes. Just like he did with the video games and Bat computer, the tiger cub found whatever metal he could and began to tear into it with a carnivorous chomp.

"Lunar stop, you can't eat that!" Garfield exclaimed as he tried to tackle and pin him. Lunar was quicker however and avoided his advances, making him crash into Robin's old uniform. Garfield fought against the garments for a few seconds before breaking free and getting a good look at the uniform. "No way, Robin actually wore green tighty whities!"

"Garfield help, I can't stop myself!"

As Garfield traced Lunar's voice to it's source, the changeling's jaw dropped through the floor as it realized the Batmobile had suddenly disappeared, in it's place was a few black crumbs. Garfield couldn't believe what was happening, first his game system, the Batcomputer and now the Batmobile, Ryan was so going to flip when she learned what happened.

"Garfield, my body's moving on it's own, and I'm hungry like really hungry!" Lunar cried for help as his body was indeed moving on his own, this time it was directing him toward the green metal dinosaur trophy. "Quick do something!"

"Hang on Lunar I got an Idea!" While not considered the quickest thinker of the Titans, Garfield thought of a solution that would hopefully stop Lunar's rampage. To do this he balled his fist and bared his paragon bracelet. "Fang Fury!"

Unlike the previous times when he transformed, this time it did not happen. A panicked Garfield called out the phrase several more times but to no avail. "Yo what gives?"

"Friend help me!" Once again like everything else in the Batcave the Dinosaur trophy was reduced to atoms as Lunar quickly took monstrous bites of it. Once the last edible thing in the cave had been devoured, Lunar's body directed him toward the outskirts of the cave where the waterfall entrance awaited him. Once there the tiger-cub made a daring escape and now was on the outside of the batcave, looking for any bit of substance to devour.

"Hang on little buddy, I'm coming!" Whatever was controlling Lunar was causing him to move at a fast rate, meaning Garfield had to be faster. Following his trail step by step the changeling used his acrobatic skills to reach the waterfall entrance, and once on the outside he gave chase to his friend. While neither Garfield or Lunar knew what was going on, both knew that he had to be stopped before he could cause more havoc with his ravenous appetite.

-MetaHuman Detention Center-

"MS Wilder If I had any Idea you were going to antagonize my prisoners, I would have never let you in the prison yard in the first place!" DR Rhyme's attitude and impatience in her voice made Ryan feel like she was a kid back in school, being scolded by the principal for fighting with one of her classmates. Although the guards had managed to break up the fight caused by the other inmates, Ryan had a hard time convincing DR Rhyme that it wasn't her fault, in fact she insisted that she take full responsibility and leave immediately. It was a good thing Ryan was as stubborn as a bull, she wasn't going to be shuffled off so easily no matter if she was wrongly accused.

"DR Rhyme I told you Nia was in danger!"

"That is none of your concern MS Wilder!" She explained coldly. "Spats between prisoners needs to be left alone so nobody gets hurt."

"But-."

"No buts MS Wilder, now please I have a lot of work to do!" She said as they both finally reached an interrogation room guarded by two of the prison workers. "You have fifteen minutes to get what you need from MR Hawkins after that he's going back to his cell, in which time I expect you too leave."

"Say no more DR Rhyme, I'll be out of your hair before you know it!" Ryan sucked her teeth as she answered. While she needed more than fifteen minutes to talk to him, she would have been glad to get out of this place, especially with the way the DR was acting toward her.

"Good riddance." DR Rhyme uttered under her breath as Ryan went into the interrogation room, finally getting out of her hair for good. Although Black Mask had instructed her to murder Ryan, getting her to leave was the next best thing so she wouldn't tip off the staff.

"DR Rhyme!" A prison guard called out to her from the opposite direction. Behind the guard was several of his comrades carrying four female inmates on seperate medical stretchers. Each of the females varied in appearance and were also asleep. "These are the female prisoners you asked for Ma'am!"

"Yes, who do we have here!"

"Inmate 515608, Peyton Riley!" Was the first of the inmates. A Caucasian woman who looked to be in her late thirties with long blonde hair covering her face and a seven-foot height too match. "MS Riley here suffers from multiple personality disorders and was charged for murdering several members of the Falcone crime family."

"Inmate 515609, Joslyn Jackam!" Was the second of the crew. A Asian woman who looked to be in early twenties, with short brown hair tied up into a bun and a short five-foot height. "MS Jackam worked as a meteorologist for Star Labs and was subsequently arrested after she killed a few of her comrades during an experiment gone wrong."

"Inmate 515610, Eva McCulloch!" Eva was a Hispanic woman in her early thirties with long strawberry blonde hair and a slash like scar under her left eye. "MS McCulloch here tried to rob the Highfathers tower while looking for something and was captured on the spot. We are not sure be we believe Ms McCulloch has some ties to the rogues."

"Lastly we have inmate 515611, Maria Sanchez AKA Aquamaria!" Aquamaria was also a Hispanic woman who was in her late teens with long brown hair. "Aquamaria is the only metahuman among this bunch, she can control vast forms of water and was arrested for drowning a local gangbanger."

"This is most excellent!" DR Rhyme declared with a satisfied grin. Her thoughts turned to how these four women were going to do such wonders for her. "Put MS Riley in my office, the others can stay in their cells until I'm ready to speak to them!"

"Yes Ma'am!" With that the guards followed orders and began to take away the inmates. As DR Rhyme started to walk away back to her office, her thoughts turned to her deceased father. If only he could watch her work her magic, he would have been so proud of her. With her vast intellect she was going to do stay a few steps ahead of the forces of good, without any bats in her way she would be forever known as the most superior villain of all time.

-Interrogation Room-

From the moment that Ryan sat down in the interrogation room, she was forced to endure the uncomfortable silence that Virgil gave her. Even though she managed to save his friend Nia, he still didn't want to talk to her and rather kept his back turned away from her at all costs. As Ryan looked at his file given to her by Highfather she kept scanning it's contents trying to come up with a subtle Icebreaker to break the tension between them.

"So want to tell me about what happened out there?"

Virgil's response was a simple shrug as he kept his direction away from her. "Not much to tell, Ebon, Rubber & Hotstreak have hated my guts ever since they were transferred here!"

"Yeah I'm not buying that." Ryan calmly stated as she tried to give him the eye. "The way they were ganging up on you, suggests y'all had beef before!"

"I take the fifth."

"This isn't an interrogation, Virgil!"

"Don't care, now instead of asking me the usual social worker garbage, how about you tell me the real reason why you're here!" He snapped.

It took Ryan every ounce of willpower not to lose her composure and give that attitude straight back. Remembering that she was supposed to be an Ambassador for Highfather she followed Virgil's command and went for a secondary file marked confidential that she had in her purse. As she tossed it over to him she leaned back in her chair and hoped that the folder would do most of the talking for her.

Humoring Ryan the best he could, Virgil found himself picking up the file and scanning its contents. At first he read with much disinterest but the further he got down the page his expression began to change. Originally it was sour from looking at Ryan but now it was unreadable, almost seemed like he was in shock by what he was reading.

"You're offering me a full pardon?" Was the first question he managed to muster through the shock.

Ryan shook her head confidently when poised the question, maybe now they would get somewhere. "In exchange Highfather would like you to consider joining his ranks?"

"Woah, woah, woah, woah, woah!" He stammered, unable to grasp what he was hearing. "You want me to join the Justice League?"

"Exactly!" Ryan beamed. "We know about you getting your powers from that LexCorp experiment gone wrong. We also know that you had an upstanding record before coming here, the way Highfather sees it you can actually bring back some good to New Metropolis!"

It couldn't possibly be real could it?

They were offering him a way out of this hellhole, a way back to the life he had before he was thrown in here. It didn't seem real yet there it was in black and white, just waiting for his curiosity to be peeked more and for him to make a rushed decision. Although he could easily see himself beyond the concrete walls and back into society, one factor in his mind encouraged his decision. This one factor suddenly caused him to toss the folder at Ryan's body before scowling at her in a vicious manner.

"No deal."

"But Virgil-."

"Forget it!" He spat back with a venomous tone. "I should have known your just like the others!"

"What are you talking about?" Ryan questioned defensively

"You guys only want me for my powers!" He accused. "You're no different than that Waller Lady or those geeks at Star Labs! All I am to you guys is either a battery or a disposable soldier!"

"Virgil it's not like that, the League needs you!"

"The league needs me, the league needs me, are you serious?" The question couldn't be more laughable as it was posed to him. "Where was the league when my hometown got experimented on? Where was the league when the gangs took over? Where was the league when I was wrongfully thrown in here for a crime I didn't commit!"

"Virgil-."

"All Highfather and the League care about is New Metropolis!" He shouted. "Gotham, Star City, Central City and Dakota are no man's land, those people have to fend for themselves!"

"That's not true!" Although Ryan kept on denying his accusations, she knew in her soul that they were sadly too true to ignore. Due to the lack of resources after the war, Highfather decided it would be best to focus only on New Metropolis. This left the other cities a wasteland for crime and any evil power that dared to claim that land theirs. Although some policing forces were on the outskirts trying to clean up and quash the problems, it was still not enough. At this point she couldn't really blame Virgil for his anger, even with their few numbers they were still the Justice League, it was almost like they had abandoned the rest of the world.

"I'm done listening to this, guards!" Virgil suddenly called out from beyond the other side of the door. In a flash the prison officials had invaded the room and began to escort him out. "Goodbye MS Wilder!"

"Wait!" She tried to call out to him but it was much too late and the guards had took him down the hallway, no doubt to take him back to his cell. The deflated Ryan Wilder was left with no choice but to pack up her own files and begin her own venture to the prison gates.

-Elsewhere-

-With Garfield-

What do Bugs Bunny, Pink Panther & Jerry mouse all have in common? Besides being fictional cartoon characters each of them spend their lives engaging in an endless chase scene. Garfield & Lunar both have fond memories of watching these silly chase scenes on their television every Saturday morning. Never in their wildest dreams however would they ever think about engaging in a chase scene themselves. Due to Lunar's out of control appetite, the duo found themselves in that exact same predicament.

After Lunar managed to leap out of the Batcave, he found himself running through the streets of New Metropolis devouring all he saw. Cars, boats, playground equipment, mailboxes, nothing was safe as the tiger cub had kept demolishing it with his tiny fangs. While he kept on with his eating frenzy Garfield stayed hot on his trails trying his best to capture him before he caused more trouble.

"Fang Fury, come on Fang Fury!" Garfield kept repeating numerous times in an attempt to transform into his paragon armor. "Lunar, why can't we transform?"

"It's a virus friend, my whole entire system is rejecting the command!" Lunar answered from up ahead, right before he chomped his jaws through a copper statue of Highfather that had been placed in the local park. "It's also controlling my body, and my stomach!"

"Hang on Lunar I'll catch you!" The optimism on Garfield's part was misplaced as he soon realized that Lunar was getting further away from him down the road. Whatever this virus was doing to him it also made the piparoid faster than he had previously been before. Having ran all the way from the Batcave to downtown New Metropolis, Garfield was beginning to lose steam. One too many slices of pizza and skipping Ryan's training session no doubt.

From the local park the virus now guided Lunar into the pathways of downtown New Metropolis. Once in the midst of heavy traffic Lunar hopped on the first truck he saw and began to take vast chunks out of the vehicle's trunk area.

"Oh crap!" Garfield bellowed as the truck swooped his piparoid away and further down the street. He for sure wouldn't be able to catch up too them now, not unless he had some wheels of his own. That's when the idea hit Garfield like a ton of bricks falling from a skylight. Looking at the busy traffic before him, he imagined himself as the protagonist in one of those action movies he saw, pursuing the bad guy. In this scenario on a busy street only screaming out one thing could possibly get him a ride. "TAXI!"

In a flash his screaming caught the eye of a bright yellow cab which parked on the curb near him. Garfield wasted no time as he opened the door and slid into the backseat where a young man driver awaited him. "Follow that cat!"

"You got some money pal?" The man asked.

"Oh come on dude this is an emergency!" He cried

"Sorry greenie, no money no ride, that's my policy!"

"But I can pay you later, honestly I live at Wayne Manor!"

"Yeah yeah and Bruce Wayne's your daddy, right?"

"Well no, but his son was my roommate doesn't that count?"

"Get out!" He ordered.

Garfield sweat dropped heavily before deciding the next steps of his plan. Although it was against his better judgment, he got out of the car and went to the driver's window. The cab driver looked curiously at Garfield's action and then became shocked as the titan opened the door, snatched him out the driver's seat and tossed him to the ground.

"Hey what the hell are you doing?"

"Look man, I'll bring this back in a little bit, I promise!" With that Garfield piled in the cabs seat and drove like hell away from the scene.

-Skullship-

"Dont'cha just love technology Thrust?" Paragon Taurus inquired.

"Think so." Thrust replied while trying his very best to understand what his comrade was doing.

"It was a rhetorical question, you big lummox!" He snickered. "Now you better get down there and get those two."

"How capture?"

"Thanks to the virus that mangy cat's hunger is insatiable, he'll consume anything in his path as long as it's edible." He explained while gesturing at the virtual map of New Metropolis. "By my calculation the virus should lead them to the junkyard. Once they're both there it'll be your job to capture Garfield and bring him back here!"

"Me understand!"

"Good and when you come back, all of New Metropolis will be ours!"

"Plan final?"

"Yes you lug head, the final part of my plan starts now!" Preparing his fingers accordingly, Paragon Taurus turned his attention back toward the skullships mainframe computer and began to access the techno files once again. Thrust once again stood in the background as he watched Taurus do the complicated work, confused by what the final part of his plan meant.

-Outside-

While Thrust wasn't quite sure what was going on on the inside, outside the citizens of New Metropolis were getting a deadly reminder of what the Skullship could do. From the ship's octopus-like tentacles, the tips opened up as thousands of large metal shaped orbs began to float into the atmosphere. As the people watched it started out with a dozen or so, but soon the orbs doubled in the hundreds and thousands as they swarmed like bees to a flower.

Once all the orbs had escaped the skullship, they gathered in groups of eight before descending upon every building across New Metropolis. Once over the building of their choice the orbs would place themselves strategically around the structure to form a square shape at the top and at the bottom. The process took little time and before long most of the buildings in New Metropolis were covered in the same square by the orbs.

Now in position the orbs sprang to life as they crackled with laser-like energy. Bystanders around the buildings watched in bewilderment as the lasers connected to one another in sequence before showering their respective targets in a shimmery mist.

-Skullship-

"God bless you Brainiac, although burned to a crisp you're still usable!" Laughed Taurus.

"Buildings explode?" Thrust asked as he once again was clueless to what was going on.

"No Thrust, bottled!" Taurus began. "Brainiac once tried to bottle the earth's cities and shrink them for his research. I'm going to improve on that plan, once I've bottled and shrunk every building in New Metropolis I'll hand it right over to Lord Darkseid as a present!"

"We win!" Thrust exclaimed happily as he started to jump up and down, shaking the entire control room.

"Stop jumping you stupid Ox, we haven't won yet!" Taurus scolded. "You need to capture Garfield and bring him back here before the shrinking process begins!"

"Me understand!"

"Since you understand, get a move on!"

With some prodding paragon Thrust soon headed toward the lower regions of the ship in order to go after his assignment. The moment that he was gone Paragon Taurus returned to his control panel, as he brought up the screens for the ship's miniaturizing ray. After setting the device, a timer initiated on screen and began counting down from the two hour mark.

For Taurus this last action signaled that he could finally relax. Leaning back in the ships throne chair, the paragon basked in the limelight knowing that there was no way his foolproof plan could be stopped. In just two hours he would get rid of all of his enemies and pave the way for Darkseid to take control over earth.

-Ace O Clubs-

Darkseid giving Black Siren the Canary Cry was probably one of the worst decisions he could have ever made.

Of course Sparrow would never outright tell this to his master out of fear of being vaporized.

Whatever the case, that damned ability was a wildcard doing more harm than good. Sparrow wasn't sure if he was ever going to be able to hear in his left ear again, let alone get rid of this massive migraine he was feeling. If it hadn't been for Vipress dragging his ass back to the bar, he surely would have been found by the Justice League.

For now the Paragon lay on the bar sofa, watching news coverage of downtown Metropolis as it was currently being bottled by Brainiac's skull ship. That fool Taurus had no idea of what damage his plan would cause in the end for them. If only he could heal up sooner, then he'd be able to go after him and stop him. Sadly though as long as his ears rang and his head pounded he couldn't go anywhere, he was at the mercy of nurse Vipress.

"Darkseid's not gonna like this!" Was all Paragon Saber could mutter from his side of the sofa as he watched the broadcast with his comrade.

"No shit sherlock, he's gonna ahhhh!" Sparrow's speech continued to be halted as the throbbing veins in his forehead began to pulsate. "Vipress, more aspirin!"

"Save your breath mate, she isn't here!" Paragon Scorched replied from beyond the kitchen.

"What do you mean she isn't here, she was just in the bar a few minutes ago!"

"She said she had some errands to run!" Paragon Hydro said as he came from behind the bar to hand Sparrow a few short bottles of pain reliever. "Must have been important cause she grabbed that outfit Siren gave her and hauled ass!"

Taurus & Thrust were dooming their plans for earth, Black Siren had gone mad and now Vipress was missing. Sparrow was for sure starting to feel a secondary headache come on from all the events spiraling out of control. It was definitely a good thing that Darkseid and Granny were busy, cause if not they would have felt their wrath a long time ago.

As Sparrow swallowed an overdosing amount of pills, he thrusted his head back in an attempt to catch a power nap while the others continued watching the television. The sooner Sparrow's headache disappeared the better, being the strongest of the paragons he had to be in tip top shape if he were to stop his brethren from ruining everything, they had worked so hard for.

-Nevermore-

The blood was heavy in Raven's mouth as she tasted it from her possibly broken nose. The scars on her face told stories of hours' worth of beatdowns from her opponent while her muscles wept from over usage. As she kneeled on the ground from the latest attack, the sorceress wondered how much longer she would be able to keep this up.

Unlike the other Titans, Raven was never one for physical combat and it was starting to show.

Black Siren on the other hand could do this all day. As long as her former self put up any form of resistance, she would do anything she could to physically beat it out of her. Even now she toyed with her, giving her a chance to recover while she circled her body like a vulture waiting for her to pass over on a hot desert day.

Nevermore was Raven's home turf. Her own mind, and yet she was losing. She couldn't fathom how much stronger Black Siren was then her. Even some of her strongest magical spells were no match for her paragon strength. Needless to say she was running out of options and willpower to keep this battle going. If she didn't think of something soon then this would have all been for nothing, she would forever be casted away as a memory and robbed of her very own body.

Throughout the throbbing pain in her veins and her blood dripping onto the stone platform, Raven rose again to strike her counterpart with a balled fist. Black Siren once again saw through the tactic and blocked accordingly with a single hand. From there she backhanded Raven in the face before sucker punching her in the gut and making her taste the end of her boot with a swift roundhouse kick.

Like a set of vodka bottles in a Russian bar, Raven was knocked down harder than she had ever been before. On the ground once again the titan wither in pain, while struggling to get up and fight.

"See this is why you should have stayed in the recesses of my mind!" Black Siren said smugly. "In there you would have been safe, and I wouldn't have to hurt you like I'm doing now!"

"That's my mind, this is my body you stole it from me!"

"You should be thanking me, I actually made you more interesting!"

Raven tried to rebuttal the argument but was stopped as Black Siren kicked her in the face once more. Unable to fight back Raven lay sprawled out on the ground while her evil counterpart leered over her in a triumphant fashion.

"Do you know the worst part about my powers?" She inquired only to get a blank stare from Raven."It's really sad because while I'm busy screaming I can't hear those glorious cries from my victim as they're taking their last breath!"

"You think I'm scared of a little scream?" Raven asked with a small smirk as she stood defiant of Black Siren.

"You should be, sorceress or not your ears will still bleed like everyone else's!"

"Take your best shot princess!"

Raven's determination to stop her made Black Siren all the more eager to inflict pain on her. Standing back from her counterpart, Black Siren breathed the deep dark air in the atmosphere that was around her filling her lungs up until she had enough. When she felt that she was ready Black Siren stood over Raven's body unleashing her canary cry in full intensity then she ever has before.

While Black Siren may not have been able to hear the agony, Raven's screaming penetrated every ounce of Nevermore and possibly the outside world. Her head pulsated with unending torment as her ears kept channeling the negative responses they were feeling.

If anything, Raven was a realist. Although she tried to resist the actions of her counterpart, even she knew she was going to die right there. For all her fighting and struggle she was going to lose her body and Black Siren would have won.

Even knowing that her ears could pop at any moment, Raven struggled through the pain while keeping her thoughts turned to Garfield.

How she loved him more than anything.

She loved his corny jokes, his grass green skin, his happy go lucky nature and lust for life. She was going to miss all that about him. The future that could have been with her lover was never going to be as she felt her ears about to burst.

"Goodbye Garfield!" She uttered

Death would not be so quick to claim Raven however. Unexpectedly Black Siren stopped her scream attack and staggered backwards falling onto the platform just inches away from counterpart.

Although the sounds were still ringing in Raven's ears, she felt a sigh of relief knowing that she survived her encounter. Wondering what happened, the sorceress got to her feet just in time to watch Black Siren pull a dagger out of her chest and toss it toward the ground.

"Raven!" A male voice called out, prompting her to look over on one of the platforms. Much to her surprise the hooded man in the black coat was watching the entire spectacle, having arrived just in time to save her. "It's you again!"

"Raven quickly, use the full force of Nevermore to subdue her!" He urged

"I don't know who you are, but your both dead!" Black Siren cried as she got to her feet once more for a final round.

"Raven quickly!"

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" Shaking off the attack that paralyzed her earlier, Raven followed the hooded man's advice and concentrated every ounce of magic with her soul. The sorceress's body cascaded with the darkness around her as colorful spores of unknown power soon developed and surrounded Black Siren.

The Paragon wasn't sure what was to happen, but got her answer as the energy spores took the form of Raven's other selves AKA the emoticlones.

Happiness, Timid, Bravery, Rudeness, Anger, Sloth, Love, and Knowledge came to their creators' defense as they surrounded Black Siren. While they were doing that, Raven's body healed on its own, shrouding her in the power of her white cloak.

"No way!" Black Siren wept nervously as the clones each started to take aim at her.

"This is my world Siren, nobody controls it but me!" Raven yelled. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!"

Upon casting the meditation spell once more, Raven shot out a beam of white magical energy while her clones followed suit. Black Siren's attempt to use her scream attack was halted as the beam surged throughout her entire body, preventing her from moving. The paragon found herself utterly powerless to stop her as a swirling black hole developed beneath her feet.

As if that weren't bad enough, ghostly hands started to emerge from the black hole, grabbing every part of Black Siren the best they could. As Raven merged her emoti-clones back into herself, the sorceress levitated away from her counterpart just in time to watch her body fully sink.

The paragon forever cursed Raven's name as she was soon dragged down into the depths of darkness, in her place the black hole turned into a mirror similar to the one that Raven had at Titans tower.

-New Metropolis-

With the battle inside Nevermore coming to a close, Raven awoke back in the physical world. The hooded man stood a mere inches away from Raven as he helped her too her feet.

"Are you alright Raven?" He quizzed.

"Just peachy!" She sarcastically answered. "Please tell me that's the last i'll see of Siren!"

"For now she's trapped in the recesses of your mind." He explained. "Until I figure out a way to reverse Darkseid's brainwashing you need to keep yourself mentally strong or else you'll risk freeing her!"

While it was completely out of character for Raven, she couldn't help but grin widely. To know that she got her body back from Black Siren was to be celebrated in itself. Even after almost giving up, she was granted another chance to do some good for the world, another chance to get back at Darkseid for what he did to her.

"Hurry now we must go!"

"Where are we going?"

"Garfield's in danger, he's walking right into a trap!"

-MetaHuman Detention Center-

A heavy cloud of dejection seemed to shroud Ryan for every step that she took down the hallway to get back to the main desk. Being honest with herself she saw that entire meeting with Virgil going a whole lot different. Now that she had spoken with him, his nasty disposition made her realize that she wasn't cut out for this.

Her expertise was the medical field, not superhero recruiting. Granted she was a people person, even she couldn't blame him for turning her down. What was Highfather thinking when he sent her in here anyway?

Whatever his reasoning, he chose wrong. She would have to go back to him and ponder what is to come for the future. Hopefully she wouldn't have to do this again, for the sake of the League.

"Someone get DR Rhyme quick!" No sooner than she reached the front desk, Ryan heard the cries of the guard coming from the direction of the prison yard. Although she had no reason to take his calls seriously, she was overtaken by curiosity and found herself running in that direction.

The moment she reached the prison yard she came face to face with crowds of Detention center guards. Each of the guards were eerily gazing into the skylight around the Detention Center which bared a resemblance of a stained glass window.

Although they were confused as to what was happening, Ryan gasped audibly as she instantly recognized Brainiac's signature weapon, a weapon so powerful that even Superman himself could not break.

-Warden's Office-

"I'm very aware of what's happening outside Roman!" Unlike the mass populace outside that was panicking at the sight of what was going on, DR Rhyme remained stoic as she sat in the warden's office. After disposing of Quincy Sharp's corpse, the DR took her rightful place at the desk before calling her employer.

"You need to get out of there then, it's happening all over New Metropolis!" Roman's voice was filled with urgency as he consoled his top worker.

"I couldn't get out even if I wanted too!" She countered. "You know how fast Brainiac's technology goes into effect, besides I'm not done here Ryan Wilder is still alive and there is still work to be done on the prisoners!"

"None of that matters Enigma!" He shouted through the receiver. "If you don't get out you'll be trapped in there forever!"

"Roman, calm down, I have a way out!"

"You what?" He questioned. Perhaps he was going deaf, but it actually sounded like she had a way out of the universe's most unbreakable forcefield. "That's not possible!"

"When you have an intellect like mine, anything is possible!" She cooed with self admonishment. "Everything will get done, I just need you to trust me!"

The phone went silent for a few moments as Roman started to marinate over her words. Granted he didn't want to leave Enigma in such a predicament, he also knew that he didn't have the resources to stage a rescue. Even with Poison Mary's control over plants he wouldn't be able to scratch the surface of that forcefield no matter how hard they tried. As much as he hated being so powerless in a situation, he had to leave it in Enigma's hands, he had to trust her to make her own escape.

"I'll meet you back at the base in a few hours!"

"You better be right about this Enigma!"

"Don't worry Roman, I'm always right!" With that DR Rhyme ended the telephone conversation. Now that her boss had been pacified, it was time to get back to her train of thought. From the security cameras embedded in the wall, DR Rhyme could easily see her guards as well as Ryan in the prison yard overlooking the events going on outside.

While they were worried about being trapped in here, DR Rhyme was ecstatic knowing how much of her work she was going to get done. All that she needed to do now was make sure that there was nobody to interrupt her, to do this she would implore a classical method that would kill all who could possibly interfere.

Reaching under the warden's desk DR Rhyme brought forth an enormous briefcase shielded in steel with a single lock. After undoing the protections around it, she opened up the case revealing an old school switchboard. Upon the switchboard was simple on and off triggers alongside a set full of numbers that were only known to DR Rhyme.

"Time to have little fun!" Looking throughout the set of unknown numbers, DR Rhyme choose three particular ones and satisfyingly turned them into the off position. She couldn't help but smile with satisfaction knowing how her plans were going to turn out.

-Cellblock D-

The minute that DR Rhyme turned off the controls, from within their cells Ebon, Hotstreak and Rubber all felt a surge of power go through them.

"What the hell was that?" Ebon questioned.

"Don't know man, I feel kinda weird tho-achoo!" Hotstreaks sentence was cut off as the man was assaulted by a single sneeze. Unlike normal sneezes however Hotstreak blew flames out of his nose which accidentally caught fire to the bars of his cell while also melting them. Ebon, Rubber and Hotstreak all looked in mesmerization as they saw the impossible just happen.

"Yo how'd you do that?" Rubber asked with confusion.

"My powers!" Hotstreak called out as the tips of his fingers started to crackle with flaming sparks. "Oooh yeah, now we're in business!"

Upon seeing Hotstreak use his natural born gifts, Rubber and Ebon followed suit. With ease Rubber used his elasticity to stretch out of cell with Ebon used his shadows to pass throughout the doors harmlessly. Now reunited the trio grinned at one another as a single thought conjured up in their mind.

"Jail Break!" Ebon shouted at the top of his lungs before all hell broke loose.

Hotstreak went first, conjuring fire and melting the cells of several prisoners while Rubber used his powers to make a rubber key to pick the lock. Once their efforts had been done, Ebon led the charge as inmate after inmate flooded the hallways of the detention center.

-Prison Yard-

"We need to go into lockdown immediately until help arrives!" Suggested a prison guard as they huddled around one another for support.

"Any news from DR Rhyme?" Ryan grilled

"That's a negative Ma'am, DR Rhyme isn't answering our calls and her office is barricaded shut!" Another one responded.

"We just need to keep it together people, we still have jobs to do!"

"Come in, can anyone hear me!" One of the guard's radios suddenly went off as a scared voice called in the channel. "Code omega red, I repeat we have a code omega red!"

"What's code omega Red?" Ryan asked again as she noticed a pale look appear across the guards faces."

"It means prison break!" From the entrance to the prison yard Hotstreak called out as he started throwing fire balls all around. Ryan and the guards scrambled out of the way urgently and before long more prisoners joined him and covered the prison yard grounds.

"Oh no!" The Afro girl muttered to herself as the staff started engaging with prisoners to subdue them.

"We got some unfinished business bitch!" Hotstreak called out as he sulked toward Ryan with a sinister grin.

As scorching flames trickled off his body like a lit torch, Ryan backed away in fear as the reality of the situation was coming down on her. This was exactly what Garfield was talking about, why he didn't want her in her amongst these prisoners. She couldn't possibly believe that this was happening before her eyes, she was trapped and nobody was coming to save her.

-Kenny's Burger Shack-

"Welcome to Kenny's Burger Shack, home of the most rootin tootin quadrupin burgers you've ever tasted. how may I take your order?" Ryan Choi never felt so humiliated in his life until this very moment. Imagine him, a scientist, school valedictorian, assistant to the Atom, reduced to such a minor position. The only thing more humiliating than this was wearing the red striped polo uniform complete with a happy cow cap on top of his head.

The only good thing about this was that Kenny's hired him on the spot. Even if it was only seven dollars an hour at least he could make somewhat of a living until he figured out what to do next.

"Lets see!" An husky hispanic man with a greasy mustache started to say as he approached the cash register. "I'll take one double BBQ bacon burger hold the lettuce tomato and extra bacon, 1 Jalapeno cheddar burger with extra secret sauce, two orders of henny fries with extra salt, a side order of fried corn dogs, 2 orders of chicky nuggets with sweet sauce and a extra large diet coke I'm watching my weight!"

"That'll be thirty six fifty sir!"

"Wait, I've got coupons!" He interjected as he all of a sudden brought forth a large paper notebook from his pocket.

"Oh no not the coupons, please anything but that!" Ryan Choi cried as he backed away in fright. The horrid and tedious process of entering coupons one after the other was more than he was willing to bear. Putting coupons into a primitive cash register was more difficult than anything else, he'd soon rather dissect an atom then process these paper demons just so a customer can get five dollars off.

"Choi, what's the problem?" His supervisor called back from beyond the kitchen.

"Nothing sir!" He grumbled. As much as he wanted to put a gun to his head then fulfill the order, he began the process of typing each coupon into the system.

"Good Evening citizens of New Metropolis, I'm Tina minmen and we bring you breaking news! All of New Metropolis is under siege as buildings in the immediate area are being bottled thanks to unknown technology, Star Labs experts believe this is an effect due to Brainiac's Skull ship which is currently hovering over the city!"

"What the hell?" Ryan Choi exclaimed as he noticed the loud blaring of the television in the dining area, which was broadcasting the news.

"In a shocking turn of events, the authorities have also confirmed that the MetaHuman Detention Center is under lockdown after a massive breakout from it's prisoners." She explained. "With Brainiac's bottle affecting most of the cities here in New Metropolis, authorities have been unable to render aid to those who need it most. According to our sources even Highfathers tower has been a victim of the assault!"

During the course of Tina Minmen showing off the news, several images were brought forth onto the screen. Ryan Choi's face went pale with shock as a satellite image came up of the MetaHuman Detention Center. While the guards were busy trying to survive against the prisoners, he got a closer look of Ryan Wilder being cornered by a flame wielding prisoner.

"Ryan!" His instincts immediately took over seeing his friend in danger. Without rhyme or reason he sprung over the counter and out the door, tossing his uniform down on the floor.

"Hey where are you going, your shift isn't over?" His boss called out to him

But Ryan Choi did not answer his boss, giving him the impression that he wasn't coming back.

-With Garfield-

As Taurus had strategically predicted Garfield's pursuit of his pal Lunar brought him to the last place he would expect, the junkyard. Having tracked the tiger cub from the car that he was eating earlier, Garfield sped through the streets at a constant seventy miles an hour until he reached the destination. Having seen Lunar jump off the vehicle and go into the Junkyard, Garfield caught the piparoid chowing on discarded automobiles in the distance.

As he parked the stolen taxi on the curb, the changeling quickly sprinted out of the vessel and into the yard. Slowly and carefully the titan tiptoed through the endless mountains of debris trying his best not to spook Lunar and make him flee again.

Garfield thought himself victorious as he got within grabbing distance of Lunar. His attempts would once again fail him as an unknown figure suddenly appeared from the distance tackling him into a pile of destroyed car tires.

"Dude what gives!" He screeched in pain as he pulled himself out of the tire pile.

"Capture Fang!" Paragon Thrust declared as he beat his chest angrily with both fists.

"No way, Wildebeest?" Garfield questioned in shock. While he knew that his friends were brainwashed this was the first time he had encountered any of them outside of Robin & Raven.

"Friend watch out, that's Paragon Thrust!" Lunar warned. The piparoid tried to break his eating cycle but to no avail, as long as the virus was in control he could not render aid to his unarmored comrade.

"Paragon Thrust." Garfield said

"Me Thrust!" He answered back.

"Not into me you won't!" Garfield exclaimed as he took a battle stance. Even without his paragon armor or his shapeshifting abilities he was going to stand strong against whatever Thrust was going to throw at him .

While Garfield's bravery was at the forefront, it soon melted into nothingness as Paragon Thrust showed off his bracelet. "Hail Darkseid!"

"Oh no!"

Much like his allies, calling out a praise to Darkseid initiated the transformation. Garfield shrouded his face from the intense light as Thrust's body became coated with unknown energy that brought forth his war armor. When the light died down, Garfield gulped in nervousness as he saw what had been brought before him.

Unlike the other Paragon suits, Thrust's armor was overly robust in every way showing off his muscular physique in his arms and legs. The Thrust armor was gray with black metal spikes that went up the sides of it. The breastplate and lower pants of the armor were modeled after a medieval maximilian knight and had the emblems of a rhino printed on it's surface. The shoulder pads of the armor were curved like a rhino's horn and unlike most of his comrades Thrust had four shielded arms connected to his torso. The helmet of the armor was modeled after a rhino and like all the paragon armors had an oversized compartment belt containing his cogs for weaponry.

"Me destroy!" Upon being fully transformed the first thing that Paragon Thrust did was grab a nearby car. In a showy display of strength with his four arms he ripped the vehicle to shreds before throwing it's remains all around the junkyard.

Garfield backed away slowly looking for alternative ways to get out of the junkyard. With the looming threat of Paragon Thrust now upon him, the titan could only wonder how he was going to win this battle. Without Lunar, his armor or any of his allies to help him the odds were surely turning against him at every turn.
